Chapter Eleven: The Last Extermination
Disclaimer: See Chapter One
Hey, everyone. Hope you have been enjoying this tale of mine. Last time, Roo revealed herself and both sides started to prepare for War, by gathering their allies. This time, the war is here at last, enjoy.
On with the Show:
War was on the horizon, both sides were currently building their forces. Vox's broadcast did a lot among the Pride Ring, while Alastor's broadcast did also do a good bit of work to undo it, but it was not enough. Plenty of Sinners in Hell were quick to believe Vox's tale, in many ways was a victim of the King's wrath, and his cull spread fear that anyone could be next. Many were not content to give Lucifer the chance. What also helped matters is that once Vox used his hypnotic eye on the populace that viewed his programs, he had their control. He basically played on the people's fears to stir up the army that Lilith and Roo needed to make their war.
Speaking of making war, while Vox was in a war of words with Alastor, their deal seemingly voided, Velvette was reaching out to various other weapon makers to provide arms to the rebels, as Carmilla had fled for the Hotel before Roo and Lilith could come knocking. Though it was not all lost, Roo had managed to steal a truck load of non-angelic weapons that she spent time placing her dark blessings on to supply to her forces.
Thing was though, the Pride Ring was not the only Ring that was in uprising, the other six also had problems.
Hazbin Hotel, Lucifer's room
Before Lucifer had gone to bed the night before after gathering the only three Overlords he knew were loyal to him, he had sent a group text to the other Deadly Sins that they had to talk come morning. When he awoke and had some food, he sat down at the table in his suite at his computer to have his conference meeting with the other Sins.
One by one, the Sin joined the call, and all of them were wondering what was going on, as what was going on in the Pride Ring was affecting them as well.
"I will be straight with all of you, we are on the brink of Civil War. My wife, Queen Lilith Morningstar is a traitor to the Realm and is mustering an Army of Sinners and Hellborn alike to take me down," Lucifer told the others of the troupe.
"I hear that you gave into Wrath and struck her," Satan said, seemingly a bit pleased with that. Asmodeus' brow raised in concern, as the Sin of Lust. Beelzebub and Belphegor also were a bit concerned for other reasons.
Lucifer sighed heavily, having to explain himself again as to what happened. "Yes, I did, and Charlie did as well, she crossed a line: Tried to have my angel daughter murdered and then taunted me about it." The other Sins seemed to understand the King's motivation. "However, we have bigger problems than that. Roo has returned and is cohabitating with Lilith's body." All six other Overbosses' faces drew concern. They all remembered when Roo was sealed away when Hell was created.
"She's back?" Asmodeus asked, in fear.
"Yes, they have conspired to make war upon the Pride Ring and it seems that it is spreading, if I am right?" Lucifer surmised what was going on.
"Yes, it is spreading and fast," Mammon told him.
"Then, there is nothing else for it, initiate the Omega Protocol. Do not try to subdue this rebellion by force." His warning was mostly for Satan, as he knew how the Sin of Wrath was. The look in the other Overboss was not helping, meaning that he was doing just that. "As you all know, Roo feeds on the chaos of such things, and unless absolutely necessary, we need to avoid doing anything that could empower her, got it, Satan?" He directed it toward the Sin of Wrath, who took it to heart.
"Shit! I had hoped to never have to use that. As it goes against what almost all of us stand for. Consider the fact that mine is to douse the Ring in a strong love potion," Asmodeus said to the King.
"Better to make love, not war, Ozzie," Beelzebub said.
"Oh like you can talk, yours is just to give everyone food and drink like you normally do. I think me, Satan, Mammon, and Leviathan have protocols that go against what we stand for.
"What about your Omega Protocol, your highness?" Belphegor asked, who was currently laying on her lounger couch.
"Sin of Pride, what do you think that means?" Lucifer responded with a question of his own.
"You don't have one?" Leviathan asked, voicing the concern of the council.
"I have one, but it won't help us, it will only strengthen Roo. If this was a normal uprising then it would turn the Sinners and Hellborn on each other, but I can't let that kind of chaos reign." Lucifer's head hung in shame.
"It would empower Roo faster, indeed, which we can not have," Beelzebub agreed with the King, and the others did as well. "Very well, we will initiate Omega Protocols, and bring our Rings under control."
"Hey, while I have you all, I was thinking about this recently, we should put on a circus show one day," Lucifer told them, trying to make something good of this meeting.
"Survive this war on your doorstep, and we will consider it," Asmodeus said and they all left the call. Lucifer ran both his hands through his hair in an attempt to calm down.
Omega Protocol Command Stations.
Deep under the keeps of the Seven Deadly Sins, there lay command consoles that if activated, would bring the Rings under control. For half the Sins, the method by which this was done was the antithesis of what they stood for. In many ways though, this was a good thing.
Asmodeus hated the fact that his Omega Protocol would douse the entire Lust Ring in a powerful Love potion that would make every Hellborn have a need to get it on with anyone they could. Better this than having an uprising, he told himself as he put his Master Key in the console, turned it and hit the launch button, releasing the love potion. It did its job though, as the rebellion in his ring ceased immediately.
Mammon's key activated a release of a massive amount of wealth to the people and it distracted them from their uprising. Mammon knew he would end up getting that money back in various ways, as he knew plenty of ways to feed his own avarice and reclaim what he lost there.
Satan activated his controls and it made everyone become peaceful and docile, to which he hated as he would have loved to be out there, shedding the blood of every Hellborn that was rebelling against their Lords and Masters. However, he also knew that Roo was a bigger problem than that and he would rather serve the Sin of Pride than the Origin of All Evil.
Beelzebub plunged her Ring into a massive feast the likes of which it had never seen and encouraged her subjects to indulge themselves, which quelled their rebellion in her realm. Belphegor's was just a sleeping gas that knocked everyone out for a few days, bringing her ring under control.
As for Leviathan, as the Sin of Envy, his Omega Protocol was similar to Mammon, giving out things to his subjects, not so much gold and money, but items that he knew his subjects desired and it slaked their envy for the time being and brought the Ring of Envy under control.
When it was all done, Lucifer received six texts from the other Sins to tell him that it was done and that the other rings were under control. Once he had thanked his underlings for their help in getting the Hellborn under control, he stood up and looked out his window upon the Pride Ring, now he had to win a war. As he had dealt with the Sins, Charlie and Vaggie were directing the rest of the loyalists in what needed to happen to turn the hotel into a fortress. Sir Pentious once again donned his General's uniform and was turning all of the Sinners into an army, armed with the weapons from the vault. They got the Gatling Guns and heavy artillery into position, and were getting ready for a siege. It also helped that the three loyalist Overlords were calling in the souls they had bound to them to get them ready for battle, and were sending them out into key sectors of Hell to be bastions against the traitors. Fortunately for him, he and Roo were not the only ones preparing for War, for Heaven was as well, to come to his aid.
Heaven, training yard
Michael had been training his forces night and day to prepare them for war, Uriel and his angels had also been working overtime to make weapons to supply the Heavenly Host.
Currently, he was training several new soldiers, and among the newbies was his niece, learning to at least defend herself when she goes back down to Hell, before the war begins. "This is an angel's first and last line of abilities, whether you are making the first move or your back is against the wall, the only weapon of choice: The Holy Blast," Michael turned and fired an energy blast at a target, destroying it. "Clearly, it has been a while since I have been in training mode, as I completely forgot my own power," Michael joked about it. He knew his own power, as the Defender of Heaven. Several of the recruits laughed at the joke. "Channel your power, let it build up to a point that it has nowhere to go, but out. Visualize it doing as you want it to do, and then let it go. We will practice this, until you all can do it."
While the other recruits got it pretty quickly, Emily was having trouble doing it. It was because her mind was conflicted with thoughts of hurting other people. Michael saw this, sighed and pulled her aside.
"What is wrong, my dear niece?" he asked, concerned. He needed her to be able to fight a little bit before she left his care ahead of the rest of the army.
"I can't do it, Uncle Michael. I can't kill a human soul," she told him.
Michael sighed, he knew it would be difficult, and there was one option that he did not want to take but he knew he was going to have to use it to convince her.
"I can teach you to fight, but I can't teach you to kill," Michael said to Emily, seemingly agreeing with her. "However, I am not asking you to be able to do what my forces are going to do. I am asking you to defend yourself and others and to do that, you will have to fight."
"I can't do it, my power is not meant for war," she tried to reason with him. Michael sighed through his nose, so he would have to do this the hard way. Sera was probably going to have a problem with this, but he knew he had to do it. With a high pitched whistle, he called over his lieutenant, and told them to bring out a special practice dummy.
As soon as Emily saw it, she was horrified that her Uncle had that on hand. It was a practice dummy made up to look like Charlie. "Uncle Michael, what is this?" Michael silently drew his sword, turned on the dummy and moved to strike at it. It seemed his method had its desired effect as Emily managed to fire holy light at her Uncle, hard enough to knock him on his backside, knocking the wind out of him. Several other trainees help the Lord Archangel to his feet. "I'm okay, I'm okay." Focusing on Emily, "yep, you are definitely my brother's kid with that kind of power. Good work, Emily. I knew that would work," he was still a bit dazed by that hit for a few minutes. Another angle brought him a glass of water as he needed it.
"What in Grandfather's name was that, Uncle Michael?" Emily asked, angry at him for this.
"I needed you to be able to fight at a basic level. You passed. I didn't want to have to do that, but it did what I wanted it to do." Michael finally got his orientation correct after getting knocked over like that.
"Mom is not going to be happy with you for this," she told him.
"I know, and I will handle it. Think about it like this, Em. War is coming to the Hotel, you and your sister will be under threat. You need to be able to protect her, like she will protect you." He grimly laid it out for his niece. Emily had to agree with that.
"What about defending?" She would rather only use shields and not have to attack anyone.
"Same way you channeled that blast, observe me first." He had another angel send a blast at him, and he raised a light shield as the blast was about to hit him. Of course that was due to the experience he had doing that. He then showed the trainees the full shield covering himself in a ball of light.
It took Emily a few tries to do it as well. At least it came easier than the holy blast. Michael sent a weak blast back at her to defend against and when she did, he smiled at her, happy with her progress.
He trained her the best he could with what time he had, as soon enough, Sera and Emily departed for Hell ahead of the rest of the Host as they wanted to spend time with the rest of their family before everything turned to chaos.
Hell
With Roo's army of Sinners and the Hellborn of the Pride Ring gathered to her and armed with weapons cursed with her dark power, Roo moved onto the next phase of the plan. While she would have liked to have had a bigger army of Hellborn, she knew the other Sins had prevented that for her. She let Hell know that War was upon them by her first move, by corrupting the Clock Tower. Where once it tolled the days until the next Extermination, now it counted down the time until her war began. Three days she gave Hell, three days to settle their affairs, then the fighting shall commence.
As the Clock Tower was corrupted, Lucifer had been standing on the roof of the Hotel watching his forces training for war. "So, it begins," he muttered to himself. He pulled out his phone and the group texted his father, older brother, and Sera to inform them that it was near. Dad and Michael responded that they would be ready and Sera told him that she and Emily would be down later that day. He extended his wings and floated down to the ground to inform the rest of the loyalists that war was upon them. They took the news as was to be expected, not entirely well. Lucifer himself was internally panicking himself. Sera and Emily coming down did help calm him down and also increased his panic at the same time. They spent the time they had left training their forces, or at late night, a little family time. Sera knew she was needed at the Hotel and not at the Embassy, so she never left the place for the three days remaining.
Night before the battle
The final battle was hours away, the hotel was as prepared as best as they could prepare it, hold points had been set around key sections of the Pentagram to either distract Roo forces or to defend that area and take down as many of the traitors as they can. These checkpoints were manned by Sinners of the Overlords contracts, as those that were at the Hotel wanted their salvation, and the others just wanted out of their contracts. Like the night before the last Extermination, Charlie told the guests and staff to spend the night the way they wanted, for who knew how tomorrow will go. Husk and Angel, as well as Pentious and Cherri were up in their rooms having some fun. Alastor, Rosie, and Niffty were up in the Radio tower making a broadcast, perhaps the last broadcast he would ever make. Zestial, Carmilla and her daughters were having some family time. Speaking of family time, that is what Lucifer was doing as well.
Sera walked into the lobby of the hotel and saw a heartwarming sight: Lucifer, with both of his daughters' heads pressed into his chest and he was rubbing their backs in a fatherly attempt to calm them. No doubt they were worried about tomorrow.
"My Daughters, My Evening Stars, I don't know what tomorrow will bring, but know that I love you both so much and I am very proud of you," he placed a kiss on each of their foreheads and held them tight to him.
Emily was nearly recovered mentally from her near-Azrael experience, and now she may face another one tomorrow. Sera came over and sat behind Charlie, who needed motherly support more than Emily did at the moment. She took Charlie into her embrace, and Charlie was grateful for it, with her own mother being one half of the traitor that was leading the war against them. Angel Dust had a great nickname for her that seemed to stick: Roolith, and thinking of her that way seemed to make it hurt less and that is what Charlie needed right now. There the family sat, in quiet discontent. They did not know what tomorrow would bring and could only hope that they all made it out of this alive and hopefully in one piece.
Vaggie walked up to the Morningstar family, "uh sorry to interrupt, but Charlie, there is something I want to talk to you about, up in our room." They had been partners for a while and there was something she wanted to try before their possible end tomorrow. Charlie took the hint at what Vaggie wanted and went with Vaggie up to bed.
So there they were, Lucifer and technically his first family, Emily shifted to sit between her parents. "No matter what happens tomorrow, Emily, know that we love you," Lucifer said.
"Thanks, Dad, It means a lot," she said, a bit sad that they were on the eve of war. Lucifer rubbed her back to try to make her feel a bit better. It did help a little bit.
"Well, we have a long day tomorrow, it is best that we all turn in for the night," Sera said. All three of them got up and headed to their rooms to sleep on what was perhaps their final night.
Final Battle
The battle began for the Pride Ring, with the Heaven Embassy blowing up. It was a good thing that Sera did not go to work that day or the past few days. Within moments of the building's destruction, there was chaos in the streets. Demons of all kinds, those loyal to the King or those that pledged themselves to the traitorous forces of Roo and Lilith, were fighting with any and all weapons and powers they had. It was a blood bath to say the least, bullets flew, blades clashed, sorcery was utilized. It was a good thing that the Loyalists had manned the choke points as they did manage to hold for a little while, delaying the enemy from reaching the hotel. Those that were loyal to the King bore his mark on them so that they could identify allies in the heat of battle.
The leaders of the loyalists all gathered together for one last meeting as they saw their enemies starting to approach the last hold point before the hotel. While they had almost two million souls working for them, their foes had more and that is what the problem was.
"Just some advice before we begin, be out for love, not for blood," Vaggie said quoting Carmilla's song. "Think about your closest loved ones, your reason to live, and fuel yourself with the fear of losing them." As she finished, Vaggie looked over at Charlie. Carmilla smirked at Vaggie quoting her lessons. Lucifer and Sera looked upon their daughters, and filled themselves with their fear of losing them.
"Charlie, I know I have not earned it, but now would be a good time to temporarily give me my power back, to help defend this place," Alastor said, hoping to get some of it back.
"Do not make me regret this, I give you half of your power back," Charlie told him. Alastor felt his power return to him. It was not as much as he would have liked, but it was enough to do what he needed to do.
"My dear, you hold my leash and can take it back at any time," he said. Everyone drew their weapons if they had them, some bore firearms, some bore melee only, and some preferred their sorcerous powers in the case of Alastor and Zestial.
They saw the final choke point get overwhelmed, and that is when Lucifer realized something was wrong. "Shit! They have cursed weapons, mimicking the abilities of angelic weapons."
"Well, don't get hit, everyone," Sir Pentious told them. As the traitorous forces got closer, and started firing their weapons at the loyalists, Sir Pentious gave the order for the weapon batteries to open fire. Angelic Gatling Guns opened up, splitting the air with the crack of hundreds of bullets mowing foes down and the heavy artillery cannons launched shells, exploding dozens of traitors at a time. Razzle and Dazzle transformed into their dragon forms and unleashed fiery destruction from the skies. From the windows of the hotel, riflemen using Carmine-Crafted Blessing-Tipped rifles opened up as well. Alastor and Zestial used their shadow powers to rip sinners apart. Carmine and her daughters were using sub-machine guns on their foes. At the moment, it seemed like it was going their way, until sniper shots with an explosive tip took out the Gatling guns, and now the hordes could get closer, where Melee combat would reign.
Lucifer moved with blinding speed, his flaming sword in hand, cutting down as many as he could before getting forced back to the Hotel's grounds. Emily and Charlie maintained each other's backs while Vaggie was covering a flank alongside Husk and Angel, Cherri was near Pentious throwing her bombs where they were needed. Sera took to the skies using her angelic powers to send Holy Blasts down on their hordes, however, like Lucifer, she was forced to land due to heavy fire.
"Where is Uncle Michael when you need him," Charlie shouted to Sera as she was the closest, as she blocked an attack with a her holy shield and stabbed with her trident.
"I don't know, he should be here by now," Sera called back, unsure what was keeping the Defender of Heaven.
Things were looking grim for both sides, until an unexpected ally turned up. "Need a hand, old friend?" Lucifer heard the voice of Satan ask over comms.
"Satan?" Lucifer asked, confused as to why the Sin of Wrath was in the Pride Ring as he fought a Sinner in Melee combat.
"He is not the only one," Asmodeus' voice came over the line. "We are all here."
"Why are you guys here, don't your Rings need you?" he asked them, dodging enemy fire.
"We heard the fight of all fights was going down, what Sins would be if we missed out?" Satan said, as the Sin of Wrath of course he would be there.
"Where are you guys?" Lucifer asked, as he blocked a strike and stuck his opponent down.
"Currently, Elevator," Mammon's voice said.
"Move out into the City, those bearing my mark are my loyalists. Everyone else is probably an enemy. Treat it like this, if they try to attack you, they are the enemy. Also, try to minimize collateral damage if you can," he ordered, knowing some of them.
"Very well, to battle!" Satan cried out and the Sins entered the fray. Satan did things the old fashioned way, leveling anything opposing him in his path with his giant sword. Asmodeus used his pyrokinesis to burn the traitors away, and his smoke abilities to trick his foes to deceive them for an opening. Beelzebub used her honey powers as her weapons as well as just crushing traitors with oversized food she conjured, and stabbing them with her stinger in her bee form. Mammon used his electrokinesis and explosive powers to devastate groups of enemies. Leviathan used his gift for speech and whispered honeyed words in the ears of traitors and turned them on themselves in envy of perceived boons that could be gained from taking out their comrades. Finally Belphegor used her powers over sloth and either slowed her foes down or straight up put them to sleep in order to stab them.
Slowly, the Sins were helping turn the tide of the battle as they were diverting traitor forces toward them, away from the Hotel, but it was not enough to ensure victory yet.
It all changed for the worse when Roolith finally showed herself to end this war. She had let the chaos go on for this long because it fed her power. Well, Lilith, It is time, Roo said to her host.
Don't hurt Charlie, Lilith told her.
I am done holding back. It's my turn at the wheel, however, as I have been your friend for this long and you have been a good agent, I will try to acquiesce to your request. At last, with her power growing, Roo finally took total command of their shared body, and transformed it into her body. She breathed deeply, she could finally access her full abilities with all the chaos around them feeding her. In an ironic turn, Roolith floated high in the air and began raining dark energy blasts on Lucifer's loyalists, like Adam did on Extermination Day. Charlie and Emily called Razzle and Dazzle back to keep them safe from her power.
"So, the arch-traitor shows herself," Angel commented as they all had to take cover as the blasts came down near them.
Seeing Sera, both Roo and Lilith agreed to make her a priority target, and fired a major dark blast at the Seraphim angel, who met it in the air with her own Holy Beam.
While Sera was briefly able to hold Roo in an energy beam battle, Roolith had been feeding off the chaos and death on both sides, strengthening her beam. As the beam was about to annihilate Sera, Lucifer flew in and knocked Sera clear. Both rolled on the ground, under some cover, and several Risen, as they called their loyalists, drew her fire from them. The poor souls that drew Roo's fire never stood a chance.
"Where are the girls?" Sera asked Lucifer, over the chaos of Roolith sending beams down left right and center on any loyalist position she saw, and even was launching far attacks to keep the other Sins in cover.
"They are safe, I made sure of it before I grabbed you," he told her as they felt the ground shake as Roolith blasted some of their soldiers.
Seeing no better time to get something off her chest. "Lucifer, if we are to die here, I just want you to know: I love you, I always have." Sera finally admitted to him. While they had said that they never stopped loving each other after their nightmares the other day, it was nice to hear it said in that way.
"I love you too, Sera. You and the girls, that's all the family I need," he smiled at her. "If we survive this, I think we need to have a long talk about things." As he was about to pop out of cover to go on the attack again, Sera pulled him into a kiss, the first kiss they shared since before creation. For a brief moment, everything seemed to fade away, and it was just the two of them.
What they did not know was that their daughters saw them do this, "about time," Emily commented to her sister from their hiding spot.
Breaking for air, "Wow, we should have done that sooner," Lucifer commented, to which Sera laughed slightly, and then they refocused as a dark blast came down on their heads.
It was in this dark hour that hope was rekindled, as an angelic horn was heard coming from the skies. Everyone, loyalist and traitor alike, turned to look in the direction of the horn, and they heard it again and Hell seemed to fall silent for a moment, and then a portal to Heaven opened in the sky.
"Mind your heads, little brother, the cavalry has arrived," Michael's voice came over Lucifer's earpiece. They heard Gabriel's horn for a third time, the horn that if heard on Earth would signal Judgment Day.
Descending from the sky, came the other six Archangels, leading an army of the Heavenly Host, including the Exorcists, under their new Lord Commander. Michael led the way, with his flaming sword in hand, and a pistol in the other.
A storm of holy light came raining down, "Azrael," Lucifer said with a smile. First time in a while that has happened. The storm of light arrows forced Roolith to retreat a little bit, as well as cleared the area immediately in front of the hotel to give the defenders a bit of reprieve.
"We are not abandoned," a surviving loyalist Sinner cried in joy seeing the angels come down. The Morningstars landed near the main hiding spots of the loyalist commanders, with Michael landing next to Lucifer, helping both to their feet.
"About fucking time, brother," Lucifer said as he hugged his older brother, happy to see him. "What kept you?"
"I'll tell you later, for now, let us fight together," Michael told him then turned to issuing orders to his forces.
"The ones bearing my mark are our forces, and the Sins are out there, brother, helping us," Lucifer warned him on who was not the enemy.
"Got it," he said and sent his forces out to where they were needed most to bring this war to an end quicker. With the Heavenly host down there, it gave them a much needed breather.
Uriel came up to Lucifer with Charlie and Emily with him, who he and Sera quickly hugged, glad they were okay. Uriel slipped something into Lucifer's pocket and told him to worry about it later, that it was something special he made for him.
"By the way, brother, we are just the vanguard, we have more help coming," Gabriel told him.
"More help?" Sera asked in confusion. To answer her confusion, a portal to heaven opened in front of the Hotel's doors, and through it stepped the best bit of help that was possible, as the Lord himself had come down to Hell to help out.
Lucifer couldn't help but laugh, "Father! Your timing is on point!" God smirked at his second eldest's comment.
"My Sons, let them know that my name is the Lord, by laying my Vengeance upon these motherfuckers." So the Lord had commanded it, and so it would be. The Seven Sons formed a defensive line, weapons at the ready as more foes came upon them, and they smote them. God channeled his own power and utilized his Old Testament side and brought his Wrath down on the those that opposed His Will. He had to laugh to himself about the situation as well, He, the Lord, down in Hell with his seven sons, fighting alongside Sinners against Sinners and they had the Seven Deadly Sins as allies.
Despite the light arrows coming down forcing her back, Roolith saw clearly how had stepped through the portal, her eternal foe. At last, she had drawn him out of hiding. "Light Lord," Roo greeted God. Despite the distance between them they could hear each other clearly.
"Roo, it's been a while," he greeted back. "I see you got out of your pit and have been busy, growing in power," the Lord commented, seeing her again.
"This chaos fuels my abilities, every bullet shot and life taken strengthens me so that not even a raging mother can stop me." Roolith laughed at her own joke about Sera. With a toothy grin on her face, she continued. "You see, it was a brilliantly simple plan: All I had to do was point Sinners and Angels toward a shared adversary and let them do what they do naturally: Make war." She grinned more evilly. Despite her forces falling in greater numbers now that the angels were here, it still fed her greater power with every one that fell on either side. "The scores of dead have nourished me, I am more powerful than ever, and I bring with me: Death." That is when the real final battle began as the Lord rose into the air to meet Roo in combat to end this. Azrael looked at the woman in confusion as he was Death.
While their father fought with the Dark One, the Sons fought to defend their position. Back and forth, it seemed to sway, but the Lord remained in control, only making it seem like Roolith was his equal.
"It is over, Creator. You can not hope to defeat me now, for I am the Origin of all Evil," she fired dark blasts from her hands at him, deflecting off an invisible energy shield.
"What you say is true, but in all of creation, I stand Alone. I am the Lord, the be all and end all of the universe," he fired holy blasts back at her. The two of them got into a beam battle that for a moment seemed equally matched, but having decided that this party was over, God pushed the beams back into Roo, and started throwing lightning bolts and fiery hail at her, to which she could do little to defend against. The power being thrown against her was greater than what she was feeding off of from the battle below. God had forced her to where he wanted her to be, above the Hotel's roof. He put his hands together and unleashed a divine attack that obliterated the rest of Roo's strength and she fell from the sky onto the Roof.
Seeing that the battle below was dying out or more so contained to the rest of the City, he whistled, signaling for the defending commanders to come up to the roof. The angels all flew up, well, Emily rode Dazzle's dragon form up there as her sister rode Razzle up, as they both were carrying those that could not fly up there.
Lucifer was panting from exhaustion, his sword arm hurting as they all needed to catch their breath, now that Roolith was down. The Heavenly host was spreading through Pentagram City, suppressing the last pockets of resistance, and gathering up the traitor overlords. God saw Alastor among the defenders and gave him a side look, telling him to behave, considering the file he had on him, the same with Zestial. He gave Carmilla and her daughters a friendly enough look before they all turned to their fallen foe.
As they all looked down at the Ultimate Evil, it seemed that Roo had retreated into Lilith, as the head and face was Lilith's but the outfit was still Roo's outfit.
"My question is, how do we separate Roo from Lilith?" Michael asked, hoping that they could so that one could be banished from creation and the other could face judgment.
"Lilith and Roo are soul-bonded, there is no way to remove one from the other, without killing Lilith. However, I don't think I can kill her, she is still my wife, despite everything," Lucifer said with a sigh.
"Besides, if we killed the body, Roo would be free and we would need to fight her again in the future. So long as Roo is inside Lilith, she is contained. Roo must be banished from Creation, for the good of all of it," God said, informing them of what they needed to do.
"Roo needs to be sent outside of Creation, that is for sure, but Dad, what about the other issue." Lucifer reached into his pocket and retrieved his wedding ring and showed it to his father, and quickly cast a look aside to Sera.
God smirked, knowing that it had finally begun again. "I give you permission to divorce her," God said, subtly putting a plan formed millennia ago into motion. Lucifer's brothers looked at their father in a bit of shock hearing him of all people saying that.
"Thank You, Dad," Lucifer said. "Now, we just need her to wake up." They all turned and looked at the First Woman.
Lilith came to a few minutes later, met with the business end of several weapons. Fear gripped her as she saw who held the blades to her and she saw her creator standing there. "I can explain…" she began, but she did not get the chance to say anything more.
"Lilith, the first woman I created," God addressed her in his command voice, and she fell silent. "Do not try to lie to me, we know the truth, we know you made a deal with Roo and attempted to have one of my grandchildren murdered. There is nothing to say, nothing you can do to postpone my Judgment!" Lilith gulped in fear, she tried to ask Roo for advice, but she was silent. "Lucifer, you know what to do."
Lucifer grabbed Lilith by the collar of Roo's jacket, and began to drag her toward the edge of the Ring, behind the hotel. "Lilith Morningstar, First Human Woman, Queen of Hell," Lucifer's voice was at his King of Hell command level, as he dragged her to the ledge. She kicked and struggled as he dragged her. "Given ample evidence, I formally submit to my father, Lord God Almighty, my request to divorce you."
"Granted, my son," God said, he himself was angry at her for what happened to Emily.
"Roo, Evil Incarnate, tempter of mortals, I reject you now and forever. As King of Hell, I banish you both from the Realm of Hell, from this day, until after the Last Judgment," he declared on behalf of his father's will.
"You can't do this to me!" Lilith cried. "I fell once, I will not fall again, there is nothing below Hell." She struggled as best as she could, despite having no energy left in her.
"You are right, there is Nothing below Hell. I banish you, to the Nothing," he said as they reached the ledge.
Lilith looked over to her daughter, in her full demon form, trident bearing on her, and demon tail flailing. "Charlie, talk some sense into your father!"
"No, Mother. Dad has my support, you attempted to have my sister murdered to get me and Dad back under your thumb. Sera has been more of a mother to me in the last few months than you have been in seven years," Charlie spat at her, repeating what she said when Roo revealed herself. Sera smiled at the support from Charlie.
God smiled behind them all. Lilith turned the other way, Alastor stood there among her enemies, for one of the only times, he was not smiling, which was not comforting.
"You came after my daughters, you attempted to have Azrael collect Emily's life. You have waged war against me. I can forgive many things, but you above all should know, family is what matters most to me, and you," he lifted her up over the edge of the cliff side, and took her wedding ring from her finger. "Henceforth, you are no longer family. Goodbye my wife, we had a good run, and now it ends, as all things must." He let her go, and she plummeted from the City of Sins, down past the deepest circle of Hell, through a portal and out into the Void, beyond all of Creation. She wanted freedom, and she was given that freedom, with only Roo for company. The main threat was gone, but the battle was not yet over. Pockets of resistance were still fighting and being put down.
Moments later, the Sins and the Heavenly Host appeared at the front of the Hotel with prisoner Overlords kneeling in front of them. The defending commanders came down from the Roof through a portal thanks to God. The Lord gave a curt nod to the Sins in thanks for their Help, and they all gave a slight bow in return to him.
"My Lord Morningstars, what should we do about them?" Michael's second in command asked, meaning the traitor Overlords that were on their knees with hands bound.
Lucifer drew his sword and walked up to them. Particularly the Vees, he so wanted to kill them after everything and he would be right to do so. He knew they had a role to play in what happened to Emily, and did not inform him of what Alastor was doing, but in this moment, he chose not to kill them. Perhaps, it was the fact his brother Zadkiel was there, perhaps it was that he felt that enough blood had been shed that day for lifetimes over. He did not know exactly why, but he was willing to make a deal. Holding his sword's edge between their necks, he asked the Vees a question. "Do you both confess your treason?" Neither of them did not answer, unsure what would happen if they did. "Confess your treason, it may save your lives," he warned them.
"I confess my treason," Velvette said, hoping to live through this day. Every one of her remaining contracts broke at that moment.
"Vox?" Lucifer turned to the other Vee.
It took him a moment, but he made a decision. "I confess my treason," his remaining contracts broke as well.
"Good, now, I am going to make you both a deal. You are no longer Overlords, but you both still have sway over Hell, and that is why, in order to live, you will bind your souls to Charlie," he told them. Charlie stepped forward, while she at one time was against making deals, she did not want these events to happen again, and if she held the leash as it were, she could keep them from abusing poor sinners.
"You will serve the cause of good, you will aid me in my mission to reform Sinners, you will only use your abilities at my whim. If you step one toe out of line, you will die," she dictated her terms. "In exchange, you will remain in charge of Voxtech and your fashion business."
They had no choice but to accept this deal as otherwise they would die otherwise. Charlie held out both her hands to the Vees and they took them. Power radiated out from them. The deals were struck, and the white chains formed on their necks before disappearing. "One last thing," with a swift precise strike of his sword, Lucifer cut Vox' hypnotic eye out of his head. Never again, would he use such an ability against the people. Raphael stepped forward and wrapped a head wrap bandage around him to staunch the bleeding. Lucifer and Charlie went up and down the rest of the Overlords, making deals so that they would never again rise against them.
When all was said and done, and the disgraced former overlords were sent away, "Why did you let them live?" Michael asked his brother.
"You destroy your enemies when you make peace with them," Lucifer told him. Zadkiel smiled behind them, seeing that his lessons had imparted on his brother. "Besides, there has been enough killing for a long time." He turned to the Sins, whom he thanked for their help and sent them home.
He turned to his family, "So, anyone up for pancakes?"
"Let us tend to the wounded, then I think that would be good for us," God said. They turned to check on the survivors of war, among the commanders, there were only minor injuries and minor lacerations which was fortunate.
It was over, the Civil War in Hell was over. Roo and Lilith were gone, the traitors routed, millions of souls extinguished as they chose to fight against what was right. There was a lot of rebuilding to do, but that was for another day. For now, they rested.
Hey, everyone. Hope you enjoyed that chapter. I know it seems eleventh hour to bring the other Sins, but I did tease them last time, and well, some asked if they could help Lucifer and I was already planning it as well. Looking forward to Season two of Helluva boss to come along with the other unseen Sins and make what I did here null, but whatever.
Well, its official now, Lucifer and Sera confessed their love and shared a kiss, and now Lucifer is a single man, now able to be remarried. I could have killed the Overlords, but I decided not to, knowing that they have some further use for the future of Hell.
Anyway, next time, I have to wrap things up. I know, this story has come and gone already. Well, be happy, for everyone of the good guys gets their happy ending. See you all next time.
