Chapter 15: Lilium

"So her name is Hei?" Aang asked

Chen nodded.

FLASHBACK CONTINUES

"So the person who I saved is named Hei." Chen rubbed his chin "Interesting."

'So the person who saved me is named Chen." Hei copied him. "Interesting."

"Stop that."

"Stop what?"

"You know what you're doing." Chen was slightly annoyed.

"I know, but it's funny, huh?"

"Oh yeah totally. It's so funny I forgot to laugh."

"But in all seriousness thank you for saving me."

"Eh, don't mention it. You would've done the same thing."

Hei shrugged, "I don't know about all that."

"Wow. I see how it is. So if lil' ol me was in trouble you wouldn't even lift a finger?"

"I didn't say that either."

"So then? What would you have done?"

Hei thought for a second.

"I think I would walk right past you as I had the urge to pee."

"HEY. I told you I did that on purpose in order to lower their guards."

"Sure you did. That's why you rushed straight into my bathroom after that show you put on "

Chen gave a thumbs up. "It was super effective."

Hei rubbed her temples as she whispered, "What am I gonna do with this idiot?"

"What was that?"

"Nothing. Get out."

"You're really just gonna kick me out like that?'

"You've overstayed your welcome."

Chen turned his back to her and waved. "Fine, fine. I'll take my leave. It was nice meeting you Hei."

"I know it was."

"..."

"I'll be making dinner later. If you want you can swing on by. No one's gonna be home anyway."

"You had me at dinner."

XXXXXXXX

Hei was holding her stomach hollering quite the storm. Meanwhile her companion sitting across from her had his arms crossed with a tick mark on his head.

"There's no way you showed up to dinner last time."

"YOU SAID AND I QUOTE, 'I'll be making dinner later. If you want you can swing on by. No one's gonna be home anyway.' AND GUESS WHAT, HEI? NO ONE WAS HOME."

That made Hei laugh harder. Tears were coming out. "Please Chen. Stop talking. I can't laugh anymore. I'm literally about to pull a you and pee my pants."

Minutes went by before Hei calmed down. Wiping the tears off her face. "Whew. I haven't laughed like that in a good while. Thanks for that."

"Yeah that wasn't my intention."

"Oh lighten up will ya?"

"I looked like an abandoned animal waiting to get fed. I knew it seemed too good to be true-."

Hei raised her hand to stop him from talking. "Please, Chen, if you keep bringing that up again I'm afraid I'm gonna lose control and start laughing like crazy."

"It's been two weeks since that happened. Can't you let it go?"

"I'll try Chen." Hei leaned on the table, fixing her gaze on companion. "But you gotta admit it. It was pretty funny."

Chen couldn't look at her. "I guess."

"Oh come on. I never did it again. Plus I made dinner for you everyday after."

"Man, I don't even know if I should give you these." Chen said as he pulled out a gift from his bag and handed it to Hei. "But here."

Hei gave a confused look. "What's this?"

"It's some white lotus flowers."

"What's the occasion?"

"Do I need a reason to give someone flowers?"

" I suppose not. But it would be weird if you did give them to a guy."

Chen pinched his nose bridge. "I knew I shouldn't have done this."

Hei reached out for his hand. " Wait wait. I was just kidding . I love them Chen. These are my favorite"

"Your favorite?"

Hei gave a small smile. "Yeah, my father always gave them to my mother."

"Really?"

"Yeah. I always dreamed of some guy giving lotus flowers."

" 'Some' guy huh?"

" Hold on real quick. I gotta put them in some vase." Hei stood up and walked towards her kitchen.

Just as soon as she was heading to the kitchen Chen blurted out 6 magical words "Will you go out with me?"

That stopped Hei in her tracks. Turning around to face him. "Uh… what?" Hei cleaned her ears. "What did you say?"

"Will you go out with me?"

"Hold on one second" Hei said as she grabbed the vase to put her flowers. She placed them on the table they were about to eat on. Sitting back down. "So what were you saying?"

Chen's face couldn't turn any more red. "You heard me. I said it twice."

"Yeah, but it was at such a random moment."

"Well I couldn't wait any longer."

"Aww I drive little Chen crazy."

"Shut up."

"Not until you repeat the question again." Truth be told she heard him both times. She just couldn't believe that the man she had feelings for was reciprocating them. It was the best feeling ever. She didn't want to show it though.

Chen exhaled. This was getting embarrassing by the second. He just thought it would normally turn out like this: he would ask the question and she would answer. However, he seemed to forget that the woman he was with was anything but normal. Giving her a smile he asked once more. "Hei, will you go out with me?"

"Think about it. Would a girl keep making food for a guy if she didn't have some sort of feelings for him?"

"Wait.. So does this mean yes..?"

Hei's cheeks turned pink and she nodded.

Filled with joy Chen jumped out of his and went to go pick up his now girlfriend "Thank you. Thank you. Thank you so much."

Hei flustered from his sudden outburst. "Hey there, pal. Take it easy."

"Pal? Don't you mean Sweetheart?"

"Yeah, no. That ain't happening. You already know I'm not the mushy type."

Chen finally put Hei down, but kept embracing her."I know. I know. But still. This is the best day of my life."

Hei gave Chen a toothy smirk at her now boyfriend. "And to think, this all started because someone had a girly bladder."

"What a way to kill the mood."

"Forget the mood. How about we eat instead?"

Chen saluted. "Yes ma'am."

After eating in silence for an hour Chen had enough and decided to break the silence.

"So what now?" Chen asked.

"What do you mean, 'what now?" Hei asked, irritated.

Chen scratched his head sheepishly. "Well, I mean this is my first time ever dating someone so I was just wondering, what happens next?"

"That's what you're worried about?" Hei pondered for a second. "Well I suppose we do the same things we've always done I guess?"

"Fine by me."

"Good."

Chen smiled, "Don't you mean good, honey?"

"Don't push it."

"Sorry."

"Anyway, do you want to move in together with me?"

"So soon?"

"I mean half your clothes are here. Unless you want me to move in with you?"

Chen thought about the dumpster of a place he lived in. "Yeah, let's go with your house instead."

XXXXXXXX

"Come on, I'm taking you somewhere." Chen said.

"Ughh… Not shopping again." Hei said.

"If anything, you're the one who forced me to go with you."

"I didn't force you to go anywhere with me. You went on your own free will."

"Oh yeah pointing a sword at my throat isn't forcing me to go anywhere."

Hei put her hands on her hips. "Like I said I didn't force you to go anywhere… Just influenced your decision."

"YOU KNOW WHAT YOU'RE SICK IN THE HEAD. YOU KNOW THAT?"

"And you love that about me don't you?"

"NO I DON'T."

Pulling out a sword from thin air she aimed it straight at Chen's throat. Giggling while aiming the sword. "Now let's try this again. You love that about me-" Her expression darkened. "-Don't you?"

"Fine, fine, fine I do love that about you."

"Good."

Chen reached out. "Come on, Hei. I really want to show you something."

"It's pretty late to take me anywhere."

"Not that late."

"The sun's about to set Chen."

"Not like for another hour or two."

"But still…"

Chen started rolling around the ground crying "Please Hei. I'm begging you."

Hei pinched her nose bridge. "What a baby." "Alright, alright I'm coming."

Chen stopped rolling and had a big smile on his face. "ALRIGHT. Let's go."

After an hour of walking Hei was starting to get annoyed. "What's the big deal Chen? Where are we going?"

"To the mountain top."

"Any particular reason?"

"Not really. Just us two."

Hei frowned "Just us two? At the mountain top? With no one around?"

"Exactly."

Hei started rubbing her chin. "This is starting to sound like you're plotting to take me out."

"That's one way to describe it."

"How much longer?"

"Not that much longer."

After a couple minutes the couple reached the top of the mountain. You could see everything from the top. The town they both lived in looked so tiny. The sun was setting and painted the sky orange.

"So why'd you bring me up here?"

"To watch the sunset with you."

"You know we could've just watched this at home, right?"

"We could've. But this scenery was worth it."

Hei took a step forward. Closed her eyes and took in the scenery. Chen was stunned. Hei was already beautiful, but the sunset radiated off her. "Wow. She is the sunlight."Her hazelnut hair blowing behind her. It's like some higher being put this beautiful girl on this world just for him. "Beautiful." Chen whispered.

"What was that?"

"Oh nothing."

"Liar." Hei knew exactly what Chen said. She just thought he would repeat it. Knowing him it wasn't going to happen.

"Anyway, what do you think? Not too shabby? If I do say so myself."

"It's pretty good."

"Oh by the way look what I got." Chen said as he was pulling something out of his pocket. Hei was anticipating some sort of jewelry. She was getting ready to jump like crazy. So much so that you would need the Avatar to stop her from going crazy. Instead Chen pulled out some keys. Confused, Hei pointed at what Chen pulled out of his pocket. "Um... what's that?"

Chen rubbed his chin. "I believe the locals call it keys?"

Hei clenched her fist and gave him a right cross. "YOU MORON."

Chen lost balance and tossed them behind Hei. "Aw crap. I dropped them. Hei do you mind grabbing them for me?"

Hei chuckled. "I knew you were slow, but not to this extent."

"Come on now. I didn't ask for commentary. Plus you gave me quite the punch."

"But that's what makes me more charming."

"Totally."

"Fine, I'll get your stupid keys. Give me a sec." Hei turned around and picked up his box. "Here." As soon as she turned around she saw Chen on one knee. Too stunned to give a proper reply she blurted out, "What's up with your leg?"

"Will you marry me?" Chen mumbled.

Pretending she didn't hear him she leaned in closer. "Huh? What was that?"

"Will you marry me?" He asked a little louder.

She continued feigning. "I couldn't hear."

If Chen's face could get any more red then it would've happened at that moment. 'AH FORGET IT." He turned away from her and started walking.

She grabbed him from the back of his shirt. "Wait. If you ask me one more time I'll give you a proper response."

Once again he had to summon up the courage

"Hei, will you marry me?"

Hei smiled. "I will"

Chen stood up "Thank-"

"Or will I?"

"Come on Hei. You can't keep messing with my feelings. I had this whole thing planned out. It was supposed to be a normal proposal. Where I asked you for your hand in marriage and you were supposed to squeal in excitement and come running into my arms crying and saying yes."

"Does that even sound like me?"

"I guess not… but still…"

"Still what?"

" I want to spend the rest of my life with you."

Hei looked away from Chen's gaze. "Is that right?"

Chen took a hold of Hei's chin and turned it towards him, locking eyes with her.

"I love you. I am always going to love you, until the end of my day and beyond."

"..."

"So whatcha say?"

Hei turned her head away from his gaze. Her face changed to a pink hue. "Honestly, you can be so dramatic. Fine, I'l accept your proposal"

"Wait, really?"

"Really, Really."

Chen picked Hei right off her feet.

"Whoa there, pal"

"Thank you so much Hei."

"You are very welcome."

"This is the best day of my life."

Hei frowned.

Chen took notice. "What? Did I say something wrong?"

Hei decided to mess with him, "Yeah, you said the same thing when you asked me out. What gives?"

Chen stammered. "I-I-I-."

Hei laughed, "Relax, I was just messing with you."

"Oh."

"I can't wait to see what the future has in store for us." Hei said as she met her lips with Chen's

"I don't know if anything can top this."

XXXXXXXX

"Huh? What was that? I don't think I heard you right." Chen said, rubbing his ear.

"I said you're going to be a father." Hei said as she caressed her stomach.

"And you're going to be a mother?"

"Well that's how these things work."

Chen ran towards his wife and picked her up

"Whoa there pal. Calm down."

"I'M GOING TO BE A FATHER." Tears streamed down Chen's face.

Tears of joy started to roll down Hei's face "I know."

Chen put down Hei and started pacing in circles

"What are we going to name it? What are we going to feed it? Is this house big enough for it? I'm going to have to make them a nice and comfy new bed. Nah forget the bed. A whole new room."

Hei smiled and stopped Chen in his tracks with a kiss

"Calm down, Chen. We'll do things one at a time."

"I know I know. It's just new to me."

"It's new to me too."

"WAIT. IT IS?"

Hei cleared her throat. Sending Chen a warning.

"Right I'll drop the joke."

"I do know one thing"

"Hmm what's that?"

"I swear on my life I'll protect you and our child." Chen smirked, giving Hei a thumbs up. " Count on it"

Hei bursted out laughing

"WHAT'S SO FUNNY" Chen's face rivaled a tomato.

Hei wiped her tears from laughter. "It's just, there's no need to be so dramatic."

"I ju-ju-just" Chen stammered.

Hei enveloped Chen in a hug, "Thank you."

"You're gonna be a badass mom"

"You know that's right."

Chen pulled back from the hug.

"So should we start coming up with some names?"

"Hmm… Maybe later we've got some time before the baby gets here."

FLASHBACK END

"Well that's the story." Chen said.

Aang sat there quietly.

"What cat's got your tongue?"

Aang shook his head. "No. It's just that you seemed to be a happy person. So I just can't understand what happened to you. What caused you to turn so reclusive? Why?"

Chen had a faraway look. "Because my wife was killed."

A/N: 4 YEARS LATER I HAVE BROUGHT YOU GUYS A NEW CHAPTER. So right about now I should be working on the 16th chapter of this fanfic. Next one should be up sometime soon. While updating this story I'll be editing previous chapters. Anyway, there's a reference to an Animoo. If you could read and review that would be fantastic. Any type of criticism is fine. Anyway I appreciate you guys.
