Book I : Reincarnation

Episode 2 : TheBoy in The Iceberg

I hear wind blowing and feel cold air wrapping around my body as I awake.

"Awww shit my head."

I put my left hand to my temple. I slowly sit up.

"You could have warned me ya know!"

I slowly open my eyes to avoid being blinded again.

"And did you turn up the…"

I pause as my eyes adjust and take in my surroundings. Said surroundings are, on all sides, untouched ankle height snow.

"AC."

Only now do I realize I'm lying in snow and my clothes are soaked. Wait, clothes? I was wearing my armor before. I look down and don't see my armor, but instead see a traditional water tribe garb.

"What the fuck! Raava what the hell is going on?"

No reply.

"Raava!"

I yell, still no answer. I push to my feet and call out again.

"Where are you!"

Nothing, just wind whistling, I sigh. Where am I? I think to myself.

"Somewhere near the southern water tribe."

I hear a soft male voice say. I jump at the sudden sound, do a 360 surveying the area, but see no one. The voice giggles.

"you're funny."

I think for a moment then ask, "Ragga?"

Another giggle.

"You got his name right! But no, I'm Haru."

I sigh and pinch the bridge of my nose.

"So I have a pint sized spirit in my head, great."

Yet another giggle hits my ears.

"Two spirits, but yep."

I groan and hang my head.

"Where is Raava anyway?"

There is a slight pause before a different, deeper voice, answers.

"She used up all of the rest of her energy to merge us and send us here."

I rub the back of my neck.

"So she can't communicate with us, got it. Ragga I presume?"

The deep voice growls and continues.

"It's more than that soldier boy."

I scrunch my nose up at the nickname.

"Don't call me that!"

I pause briefly, remembering my first life's end. I shake the thoughts away.

"I haven't been a soldier in a long time."

The voice gets quiet, then hums softly and says.

"Understood. As I was saying, the Raava you met no longer exists."

My eyes bulge out of their sockets.

"What?"

The spirit growls in response to my questioning.

"Don't you know how time travel works kid?"

I shake my head, even though the spirit can't see it, and nervously laugh.

"Umm, no."

The spirit grunts in disapproval.

"Of course you don't. Look kid all you need to know is that time has a way of correcting itself one way or another. That timeline we came from no longer exists. Us being has already changed the future."

I shrug my shoulders.

"Well, that sucks. I guess I should get moving."

I look around at the expanse of snow around me once again.

"Um which way do we go?"

Comes Haru's voice. My head drops.

"I was hoping you guys would know."

5 miles to the south

A teenage boy sits in a canoe on an icy river, spear at the ready. Beside him sits a slightly younger looking teenage girl, his sister.

"It's not getting away from me this time."

The boy smiles in his sister's direction.

"Watch and learn, Katara. This is how you catch a fish."

The girl, Katara, seems indifferent to his claim and turns back to her side of the boat again. Her expression changes to surprise though as another fish quickly swims by her. She shoots a quick glance toward her brother, removing the glove from her left hand. She gingerly stretches said hand out.

She concentrates as she starts making a strange motion with her wrist, moving her hand up and down.

Sokka, unaware of what she is doing, continues to line up his spear. As Katara continues to move her hand, the water in front of her starts to ripple. She sees this and steels herself, even more determined to succeed. Suddenly, a bubble of water rises up from the ocean containing the now trapped fish.

"Sokka, look!"

The girl exclaimed excitedly as she starts to move the fish over the canoe.

"Sshh! Katara, you're gonna scare it away."

Sokka licks his lips, not taking his eyes off his aquatic prey.

"Mmmm ... I can already smell it cookin."

Behind Sokka, Katara is still making circular movements with both her arms, suspending the bubble of water that holds the fish in the air and moving back and forth.

"But, Sokka! I caught one!"

She says struggling to keep the bubble of water in the air. As the bubble hovers over Sokka's head, who is still oblivious to the situation, he raises his spear to strike the fish. He bursts the bubble of water with his weapon, causing Katara to lose control and drop it directly on his head.

As Sokka lets out a gasp of discomfort, the fish flies through the air and splashes back into the sea. Sokka turns to his sister and yells.

"Why is it that every time you play with magic water, I get soaked?"

Sokka balls his fists and stares at his sister. Katara sighs before answering in slight annoyance.

"It's not "magic", it's waterbending! And it's ..."

Sokka interrupts her while wringing out his hair.

"Yeah, yeah, an ancient art unique to our culture, blah, blah, blah. Look, I'm just saying that if I had weird ass powers, I'd keep my weirdness to myself."

Katara crosses her arms and gives her brother a death stare.

"You're calling me weird? I'm not the one who makes muscles at myself every time I see my reflection in the water!"

She says as sokka does just that. The boy laughs nervously and is about to respond when the canoe starts to rock. As they both try to keep from falling over, Sokka spins around toward his end of the canoe, a frantic look on his face.

The boat is suddenly caught in a rapid current, which pulls It swiftly toward a gaggle of large icebergs. Sokka frantically grabs the paddle and attempts to stay clear of any floating chunks of ice.

"Oh shi…"

He is cut off as two icebergs descend on the small craft. He barely manages to avoid being crushed by the icebergs which slam together behind the boat. Sokka rows furiously trying to avoid every obstacle in their way, dodging small and large ice chunks. Katara yelling commands in his ear the whole time.

"Watch out! Go left! Go left!"

Sokka tries his best to keep the boat on the correct trajectory, but it veers to the right with the current and becomes pinned by three large ice chunks.

"Shit!"

"Shit!"

Both scream as the canoe is completely crushed by the ice, and they throw themselves from the canoe and onto a sheet of ice. Katara slides to the very edge, almost falling off. She raises her head and looks around after making sure she wasn't going to fall.

"That was close."

She mumbles to herself breathlessly then starts shuffling backwards, moving away from the rim toward the middle of the small mass of ice. She sits next to her brother. His spear is embedded point-first in the ice just behind him.

"You call that left?"

Katara says indignantly.

"You don't like my steering? Well, maybe you should've waterbended us out of the ice."

He says while imitating waterbending. Katara quickly gets on her feet, facing Sokka.

"So it's my fault?!"

Sokka remains seated and puts on an irritated look.

" I knew I should've left you home! Leave it to a girl to fuck every thing up."

Katara's face contorts with rage as she points a finger at her brother.

"You are the most sexist,"

She flings her arms in rage creating a small wave of water behind her.

"immature, nut brained,"

She flings her arms again creating a slightly larger wave; she raises her hands to her head during a brief loss for words.

"I'm embarrassed to be related to you!"

She swings both her hands back forcefully once again and her unconscious waterbending hurls a wave directly into the towering iceberg behind her. With a loud, splitting crack, a hooklike fissure arcs up its surface and out its side, leaving a spray of ice where it ends. Sokka looks at it disinterested, looks away, then does a double take, expression morphing into one of terror.

"Ever since mom died, I've been doing all the work around camp while you've been off playing soldier!"

She emphasizes the last words with a strong swing of her hand, waterbending and deepening the crack in the iceberg

"Uh, Katara…"

She continues her outburst, cutting him off, and putting her finger in his face.

"I even wash all the clothes! Have you ever smelled your dirty socks? Let me tell you, not pleasant!"

As she yells out that last word, she unconsciously waterbends once again, causing two new splits in the chunk of ice.

"Katara you need to settle down!"

Sokka says and holds his hands in front of him. Katara growls before exploding.

"NO! THAT'S IT!! I'm done helping you. From now on, you're ON YOUR OWN!!!"

Her last movement creates a huge wave which, further cracks the ice they stand on, and causes the iceberg behind them to break in half entirely. Petrified, Sokka gasps for air, and it is only now that Katara turns to look behind her. She gasps as the two halves begin to fall away from each other.

The two halves hit the water and create a giant wave that pushes the ice they stand on away.Sokka instinctively grabs his sister to protect her until the wave subsides.

"Okay, you've gone from weird to freakish."

Sokka says once the ice is stable again and lets Katara go.

"You mean I did that?"

Katara asks, amazed that she could do something like this.

"Yep."

He's says sarcastically and nudges her with his elbow.

"Congratulations."

Several small bubbles appear on the surface of the water directly in front of them and a small spot of water begins to glow with a bright bluish hue, attracting the sibling's attention.

"What the f.."

Sokka is cut off when a large, roughly spherical iceberg breaks the surface of the water. It bobs up and splashes back down, causing a wave that rocks the ice once again, before coming to rest with its rounded dome exposed above the water. Mesmerized by the iceberg, Katara strays closer and stares at it. Behind her, Sokka halfheartedly stretches out his hand, as if to hold her back. Inside she sees the vague outline of a young man, tattoos of arrows glowing on his arms and head.

"He's alive! We have to help!"

Katara yells and swiftly grabs sokkas club from his back. Sokka tries to stop her but is too slow.

"Katara, get back here! We don't know what that thing is"

Sokka grabs his spear and follows after her. Katara quickly moves to the iceberg, winds up, and swings as hard as she can. Small cracks form and she swings again, and again, and again. Finally On her fifth strike, the club breaks through the surface and a great gust of wind, which escapes from within the iceberg, throws her and her brother back from the side of the dome.

Once the pieces have all fallen away a beam of light bursts from the core of the iceberg and rockets into the sky.

1 mile to the north

I stomp my way through the snow, slowly but surely freezing my ass off. The wind bombards me with frozen flakes.

"F-fuck I'm c-c-cold!"

Haru laughs at me in my head.

"I don't know what's worse…"

I say hugging my chest.

"Freezing here, or sweating to death in the Middle East."

The spirit stops laughing and I hear it's curious yip.

"What is the Middle East?"

I shake my head as I continue trekking through the snow.

"It's a place in my original world, it doesn't matter."

Haru is quiet for a moment then says.

"You know you could just firebend to warm yourself, right?"

I smack my own forehead and groan. I completely forgot I could do that now.

"I'm so stupid."

I squat and take a stance, like I've seen Aang do before. I breathe in deeply, hold for a moment, then slowly release the breath. Then I swiftly punch the air with my left hand. Nothing happens.

"How do I do this again?"

I hear both Haru and Ragga sigh in disappointment.

"Power in firebending comes from the breath. Control your breathing and focus on heating yourself."

Haru says in an unusually serious tone. I nod, set my feet, and slowly breathe in.

Think warm thoughts.

I think to myself and slowly let the breath out through my nostrils. I feel my face begin to warm as I blow out a gust of steam.

"Good, this is known as the breath of fire. It can save your life in a pinch."

Haru says as the steam begins to spread throughout my entire body. The warm and cozy feeling radiating through me.

"Ohhhh yeah, that's what I'm talking about."

Haru giggles.

"Well go ahead and give it a try."

I nod and prepare myself. You can do this. I tell myself over and over. I take a deep breath, pull my fist back, and then punch forward with as much force as I could muster. Out of my outstretched fist shoots a massive eruption of violet flame. The fire is so intense it melts all the snow in a five foot radius around me, and leaves the air steaming. This all happens in the blink of an eye.

"Holy shit! That was hot!"

Haru hums in my head and says,

"that's really good for your first time."

I look at the steam rising off the circle of uncovered ice around me, then down at my hand I awe.

"Dude, that was awesome! I didn't need a spell or anything just whoosh and fire."

Ragga hums in my head.

"Yes that's how firebending usually works."

I mentally flip him off and he snorts and says,

"Real mature kid."

I ignore his comment and direct a question at Haru.

"But why is the fire purple? When you threw fire at me earlier it was black like my magical fire."

The fire spirit sighs and says,

"Two reasons. One, I am a spirit of eternal flame, and as such my flames are the hottest and purest. Since we are bonded you now share these flames"

I nod and he continues.

"Two, black flame is highly dangerous. In untrained hands, it is a weapon of mass destruction. It can never be put out once it touches something, except by the one who used it in the first place."

I stroke my chin and mull over what the spirit said.

"So basically you're saying I need more training before I'm ready to use it, but that I can use it?"

"Yes,"

The spirit says with an audible facepalm. I pump my fist in the air in excitement. Then I remember something.

"Ok so what about waterbending?"

Silence is all I'm given. Neither Haru nor Ragga says anything at first. After what seems like forever I finally hear Haru's voice.

"Ragga."

The water spirit grunts and then sighs.

"I know, I know. Okay kid, first heat a hole through this ice."

I do as he says. I concentrate on my fingertips and visualize the flame. A small violet flame appears at the tips of my pointer and middle fingers, reminding me of a butane torch. I point my fingers at the ground and turn up the flame's intensity.

The flame blasts forward and quickly melts a small hole in the ice.

"Waterbending is all about the flow of energy. It's easy kid just go with the flow. Try to feel the push and pull of the universe."

I hear Ragga's voice and nod. I ready myself before trying to mimic the stance I've seen Katara take so many times before. I take slow and concise breaths as I begin to sloppily imitate the tai chi movements I could remember. Ragga hums in my mind.

I try to get the water to move and shape, but the best I can do is make a few ripples and a little splash.

"Oh I've seen pups with one leg missing do better than that. You're trying to force the water, don't try to force the water, but be the water and guide it on its path."

What the hell's that supposed to mean? I think to myself. So what, stop trying to control it and what? Try to ask it? I roll my eyes and sigh. I repeat the moves again a little slower and more precise.

"umm please work with me water."

The water starts to ripple at first, then it slowly lifted up, and finally I got a ball of water floating

"H-hey I got it!"

I yell and slowly start moving the water to and fro.

"Better, I guess? But you're still not understanding, you have to feel the water. You have to be one with the water."

Ragga says. I get irritated and lose control of my little bubble and it pops, raining on the ground and leaving a small puddle.

"UGHH! What does that even mean you stupid-"

I'm interrupted by a loud ringing sound in my ear and a bright light casting my shadow in front of me. I quickly whip around and am met with a large bluish-white light erected in the sky. As I look into the light something inside me said,

"The avatar awakens, it is time."

I feel a sharp pain in my head and I fall to one knee holding my temple.

"Woah kid, you ok?"

I hear Ragga ask. My eyes become blurry as the headache intensifies.

"Ffffuuuckkk."

I squeeze out through gritted teeth. The ringing in my ears gets louder and louder.

The skin on my hands, arms, face, and neck start to burn. The blood in my very veins feels as though it's on fire. I fall the rest of the way to the floor and start writhing in pain.

"AHHHHH!!!"

I have only felt pain like this one other time. And it was when I was hit by a chain lightning spell. I barely survived that. This feels worse.

"James what's going on?"

I hear Haru in my head. Each one of his words brings another wave of pain.

"Please, no m..more talking."

I convulse with pain and continue to scream. My mind is filled with only searing, white- hot pain, and pleads for it to stop. The burning on my hands is spreading up my arms. I rip off my gloves and try to focus my vision and look at my hands. I can barely make out strange black markings crawling up my arms

Then, just as fast as it arrived, the pain disappeared and a calming wave of relief washes over me.

"It is done, link established."

I hear the unfamiliar voice once again. My vision clears and I once again look to my hands. The markings on my hands are now clearly visible. They look like tattoo lines, black and thick. The ones on my left hand resemble flames, as if my arm is in danger of being consumed. The ones on my right resemble waves crashing against one another.

"Hello James."

I am snapped out of my thoughts by a voice. I lay on the ground, breathing heavily, and try to talk.

"Who…you?"

I say huffing and puffing. The voice sounds familiar but I can't quite place it.

"I am someone from both your past and future."

Still breathing hard I sit up and say,

"Fucks that supposed to mean?"

The voice, which sounds like that of a young man, laughs.

"Just know I'm here to help you guide the avatar."

I roll my eyes and sigh.

"And just how are you supposed to help me."

"Don't you know? The past can be a great teacher."

My eyes almost fall out of my skull as realization hits me.

"What th-"

Fire Nation ship

Near the southern water tibe

A young man, with no hair save a ponytail at the top of his head, clad in a red fire Nation military uniform stands on the deck, gazing at the light.

"Finally!"

The man says turning to an older man, also in uniform, who sits at a small table.

"Uncle, do you realize what this means?!"

The older man is playing some sort of game and answers calmly while looking over the tile he's holding.

"I won't get to finish my game?"

The younger man scoffs and turns back toward the light.

"It means my search is about to come to an end."

The old man sighs and places a tile on the table.

"That light came from an incredibly powerful source! It has to be him!"

The boys uncle grunts in disinterest.

"Or it's just the celestial lights. We've been down this road before, Prince Zuko."

The old man looks at the tile in his hand, depicting the symbol of airbending.

"I don't want you to get too excited over nothing. Please, sit. Why don't you enjoy a cup of calming Jasmine tea?"

Zuko growls and yells,

"I don't need any calming tea! I need to capture the Avatar! Helmsman, head a course for the light!"

The man points in the direction of where the light once was. Iroh calmly continues with his game, placing another tile on the board.

with James

"Aang!?"

I ask, confused on how the avatar is talking to me.

"Yes, and no."

The voice replies.

"What?"

He sighs.

"I am the spirit of Aang, or at least an Aang."

"Ok now I'm hella confused."

I say and throw my arms up. Spirit Aang laughs.

"look we don't have the time for an explanation right now w-"

"yes we do! Ragga just told me that the previous timeline is gone! How are you here?"

I yell, interrupting him.

"It's not that confusing. I died, Raava took my spirit, and placed it in you to help you guide the younger me."

I just stare at the snow blankly.

"kid, we'll talk later, for now just go with it."

I hear ragga's whispering voice. I internally sigh.

"That's not weird at all. I'm gonna have to talk to someone while a dead version of him is in my head, great."

Another laugh, this time Haru joins him.

"Worry not *pft* Duality."

The two spirits start laughing at me.

"Bite me twinkle toes."

I grumble and cross my arms. Aang stops laughing and suddenly gets serious.

"okay, time to get moving, and fast."

I look around me, all I see is ice and the river.

"ummm, how?"

"watch."

As he says that my body starts to walk towards the river.

"whoa, hey, why am I moving towards the water?"

Aang laughs.

"we're going for a dip."

With no warning I jump into the rapid moving, icy water.

Back at the Iceberg

Light still encircles the remains of the former mountain of ice, now reduced to a hollowed-out crater. Sokka looks at his sister and they both get to their feet, Katara holding onto her brother. A figure emerges slowly from the depression in the iceberg.

"Stop!"

Sokka yells pointing his spear at the figure. Now standing atop the crater, the figure slowly erects himself and looks down at them, and the two siblings stare back in wonder and fear. The circles of light finally disappear as the boy stops glowing. The figure is revealed to be nothing more than a young man, no older than 14, who gives a moan and suddenly faints. Katara gasps and runs forward to catch him before he hits the ground. Sokka follows behind and begins to poke at the boy's head with the blunt end of his spear.

"Stop that!"

Katara yells and tries to make the boy more comfortable. The boy slowly opens his gray eyes. He gasps in awe as he beholds the Southern Water Tribe girl, who stares at him, in wonder.

" I need to ask you something."

He says in a weak voice. The girl shifts her attention from her brother to the boy.

"what?"

"Please ... come closer."

Katara leans in to hear the boy better.

"What is it?"

"Will you go penguin sledding with me?"

He says in a clear, playful tone.

"Uh, sure ... I-I guess."

Katara answers awkwardly. The boy rises to his feet in one swift motion, surprising the two siblings. Katara is awestruck, Sokka just points his spear at the boy once more.

"What's going on here?"

The boy questions. Sokka growls and yells,

"You tell us! How did you get in the ice? And why aren't you frozen?"

He pokes the boy with his spear. The bald boy lazily swats it away.

"I'm not sure."

He looks back toward the remains of the iceberg and is about to speak but is interrupted by me shouting,

"Fuck!"

I climb out of the water and onto the ice the trio stand on.

"Oh fuck, now I know what those seals use to talk about. This sucks!"

I crawl forward a bit, on my hands and knees, then collapse onto my back. I can feel three sets of eyes on me. I lift my head to look and see none other than the gaang standing there. I let my head plop back down and raise a finger.

"One moment please."

I say as I try to catch my breath.

"Now who's this guy!?"

Comes Sokka's voice.

"He's wearing water tribe clothes!"

Katara says to her brother. She turns and runs over to me, stooping down to check on me.

"Are you okay? Are you hurt? How did you end up in the water?"

She rapid fires question at me. I put a finger to her lips to silence her.

"Yes, no, and I fell."

I sit up and look to see the mixed expressions on the three teens face.

"What!"

Sokka bursts out laughing. Katara gives me a worried stare. Aang is playing with his air, figit spinner thing, not really caring.

"You fell?"

I look at katara sheepishly.

"umm...yeah, I fell into the river while looking at that beam that was in the sky."

Sokka laughs even harder. Aang even gives a little snicker as he plays with his little toy.

"Hey, ponytail, shove it!"

I yell as I turn onto my stomach and push to my feet. Katara tries to help me to my feet but I push her away.

" So where are you from, ummm, what's your name?"

I dust myself off and then stretch out my hand.

"Name's Ja-Jin, my name's Jin. And um I come from here, the southern water tribe."

Katara smiles.

"Well Jin, I've never seen you before and me and my brother are from the southern water tribe."

I chuckle nervously.

"Well that's cause I live isolated, by myself, just down that river."

i point the direction I came from.

"Okay, well mister hermit, and arrow boy, it's been swell but me and my sister gotta-"

Sokka walks over to his sister and tries to lead her away by her shoulders. She knocks his hands away and a low, gruff noise suddenly fills the air. We all look to the crater that used to be the iceberg. The boy scrambles up the ridge of ice and happily jumps on the head of a large, furry creature that has the same arrow-shaped marking that he does.

"Appa! Are you all right?"

The beast doesn't react.

"Wake up, sleepy head!"

He jumps down to the front of the bison and tries to lift its enormous head. Katara, Sokka, and I follow the boy and we all gasp as we see the bison. It's one thing to watch the show but to see it in person is astonishing.

Appa finally starts to react to Aang, opening his mouth and licking him with his giant tongue.

"Ha, ha! You're okay"

Aang says, hugging the bisons nose.

"What is that thing?"

Sokka asks astonished at the sight before him.

"This is Appa, my flying bison."

Sokka and I exchange glances.

"Right, and this is Katara, my flying sister."

Sokka says pointing at Katara, who gives him an annoyed look. I start slowly inching away from Sokka, as I know what happens next. Appa starts to inhale deeply. Realizing what is about to happen, Aang ducks before Appa sneezes, sending a large blast of green snot flying directly onto Sokka, who becomes completely covered in it.

"What the hell!"

He squeals in disgust and begins to frantically try to clean it off, rubbing his face in the snow. I try and stifle my laughter.

"Don't worry, it'll wash out."

Aang says laughing, then asks,

"So you said you guys live around here?"

Sokka points his spear accusingly again at Aang.

"I'm not telling you nothing. Did you see that crazy bolt of light?! He was probably trying to signal the Fire Navy!"

I facepalm. Katara pushes the spear away.

"Oh yeah, I'm sure he's a spy for the Fire Navy. You can tell by that evil look in his eye."

She points to Aang, who is once again playing with his figit spinner thing. He stops and smiles sheepishly.

'I don't remember being this distracted.'

Spirit Aang says in my head.

"The paranoid one is my brother, Sokka. But you never told us your name."

The airbender smirks.

"I'm Aahhh... ah-A-Achoo!"

Aang sneezes and sends himself up in the air, via a gust of wind, then floats back down gracefully landing.

"I'm Aang."

Sokka and Katara's jaws drop.

"You just sneezed and flew ten feet in the air!"

Sokka says pointing at the sky. Aang looks up at the sky and says,

"Really? It felt higher than that."

Katara's eyes bulge as she realizes something.

"You're an airbender!"

"Sure am!"

Aang says, puffing out his chest. Sokka shakes his head.

"Giant light beams, flying bison, airbenders."

He turns and starts to walk away.

"I think I got midnight sun madness. I'm going home to where stuff makes sense."

He stops, realizing that he is stranded in the middle of the ocean with no way home. Aang notices this.

"Well, if you guys are stuck, Appa and I can give you a lift."

The boy launches himself up and onto appa with air.

"We'd love a ride! Thanks!"

Katara says and runs over to appa.

"Oh no! I'm not getting on that fluffy snot monster!"

Sokka says making an x with his arms. Katara finishes climb onto the bison and says,

"Are you hoping some other kind of monster will come along and give you a ride home? You know, before you freeze to death?"

Sokka opens his mouth to protest but thinks of nothing and shrugs his shoulders. He walks over and climbs onto appa's back. The three look to me.

"What?"

Aang smiles.

"Aren't you coming?"

I sigh.

"Yep, I guess so."

I approach the beast, slowly climb up, and take a seat.

"Okay, first time flyers, hold on tight! Appa, yip-yip!"

Aang whips the reins and Appa growls in response. He moves his tail up and down and takes a huge jump into the air. He soars through the air for merely a few seconds, before splashing down into the water. The bison starts to swim forward. Katara crawls to the front of the saddle while Aang tries to get Appa flying, whipping the reins again

"Come on, Appa. Yip-yip!"

The airbender says, frustrated.

"Wow, that was truly amazing."

Sokka says sarcastically. Katara shoots her brother an angry glance.

"Appa's just a little tired. A little rest and he'll be soaring through the sky. You'll see."

The airbender says patting appa.

Katara smiles at Aang, who returns this gesture. When she wants to move back, she realizes that he is still smiling at her, making her uncomfortable.

"Why are you smiling at me like that?"

she says.

"Oh, I was smiling?"

I shake my head at the two.

'Ah, fond memories.'

I hear spirit Aang in my head. I nod, thinking of what to do next. Sokka throws his head back and sticks his tongue out in disgust while groaning loudly. Katara glares at him while Appa continues to make his way through the icy water.

'I need to speak with Aang privately'

I think to the spirits within me.

'Agreed'

Comes the voice of all three.

AN: So another one down. And also thanks for the tip to the guy who reviewed, I appreciate the positive energy as well! Well, I ain't got much to say. Hope you enjoyed!
