"Example" - Character Speaking

'Example' - Character Talking

(I do not own anything recognizable in this story.)

(3rd Person POV)

Artemis was still gazing at her newborn son when she felt the area around her start to warm up, almost as if the sun was shining on the field again. Knowing what that meant, she looked up to see a familiar and beautiful woman standing at the entrance to her tent. The woman had shoulder length black hair and black eyes, with DD cup breasts and wide child-bearing hips. She was garbed in her signature white and red miko shrine outfit, and had hanafuda earrings(1) hanging from her earlobes. This was Amaterasu, Goddess of the Sun and Chief Deity of the Shinto Pantheon.

"Lady Amaterasu." Artemis greeted respectfully.

"Arti." Amaterasu sighed, exasperated. "You know you can call me Mother, you were practically married to my daughter after all."

"Maybe so, but you are a being deserving of respect, Lady Amaterasu." Artemis responded with a hint of amusement in her tone.

Amaterasu couldn't help but sigh again, she knew Artemis was only doing it in good natured fun.

"Anyway, did you come here to meet your grandson, mother Ama?" Artemis questioned the chief goddess.

"Of course I did my dear, I couldn't wait to see the new member of the family." She responded excitedly.

Artemis giggled at her tone before gesturing to Amaterasu to come closer. Amaterasu obliged and took a good look at her new grandson, and had to resist the urge to start cooing at the ball of light. Artemis saw her holding herself back from showering her grandson in affection and was admittedly incredibly amused at her reaction.

"Would you like to hold him moth…" Artemis was interrupted by her son being snatched from her hands. Upon looking up, Artemis couldn't help but sweat drop at the scene in front of her. Amaterasu was excitedly talking to the baby about how handsome he was while hugging her grandson close enough to her that she was actually rubbing their cheeks together.

"Mother Ama…" Artemis said, still sweat dropping, "Could you please calm down, my son was born only a few hours ago you know."

Amaterasu froze and turned to look at Artemis, "Oh. Right." She giggled sheepishly. Artemis' sweat drop deepened.

"I was just excited about my grandson." She said handing the newborn back to his mom.(2) "But you must agree with me, don't you?" Amaterasu questioned her excitedly.

"About?" Artemis responded.

"How handsome he is! No doubt he's going to be surrounded by women trying to get with him later on!" Amaterasu exclaimed joyfully.

However, Artemis had the opposite reaction. Her expression darkened and the area around them had started darkening. "Those filthy women better keep their vile hands off of my Moonlight." Anyone that knew Artemis would have been incredibly surprised at the rather out of character reaction. Artemis was very well known for being an avid hater of men, so to hear her threaten women that might flirt with her son later would have scared everyone that knew her.

"Arti." Amaterasu sternly called out.

In response, Artemis looked up to her mother-in-law with a questioning look on her face.

"You're going to need to accept the fact that our Light is going to have women around him. It's inevitable." Amaterasu continued sternly. Artemis' facial expression darkened again.

"But…" Amaterasu continued, "I'm sure that your son wouldn't mind getting your approval on the women he wants to spend his life with." She amended with her daughter-in-law. Artemis thought for a moment, before she finally calmed down and things went back to normal. Artemis knew that her son would eventually find an interest in women but she still didn't like the thought.

"Fine." Artemis said calmly, "So long as you make sure that he is raised the right way. I will not have my son be a womanizer like my brother." She reminded Amaterasu firmly. However, at the mention that she wouldn't be able to be the one to raise him, Artemis' face fell as she stared dejectedly at her son.

Amaterasu couldn't help but feel bad that the boy's own mom couldn't raise him because of ancient laws of her pantheon, but she swore that she would raise him properly with good morals. However, she couldn't stand to see her daughter-in-law so upset. And that's when she got an idea, and she couldn't help but smile in a way that reminded anyone that saw it of the sun.

"Arti," getting her attention, "don't worry, you still have 4 or so months with him now." Amaterasu reminded her. At the thought Artemis' frown disappeared and a small smile replaced it on her beautiful face.

"We could also add another part to the plan regarding him, my dear." Amaterasu said kindly. Artemis looked up in surprise, wondering what her mother-in-law had in mind.

"Why not every so often, go on one of your solo hunting trips. But instead of going hunting immediately you come to see your son, Spend a week or two with him and then go out hunting to keep appearances. This would allow you to spend time with your son, and no one would be suspicious." Amaterasu suggested a happy smile on her face as she knew that Artemis would gladly agree to the plan.

Artemis' face immediately brightened as if she just found out all the world's worst men had been vaporized simultaneously. The smile on her face was large and full of love as she stared down at her little boy.

"I would love to do that Mother Ama. Thank you." Artemis spoke gratefully. Amaterasu just smiled brighter, happy that she could help Artemis' mood and later improve the relationship between mother and son.

(Time Skip: 4 Months)

(Somewhere in Japan)

It was time. Artemis needed to return to Olympus and her hunters, but that also meant that she had to leave her baby behind. She couldn't risk anyone finding out about him until he could protect himself. She knew her baby would be more powerful than most other demigods, being the son of Artemis and grandchild of Amaterasu would do that. But it was more than that. Both because he was 3/4 god and only 1/4 mortal, and also because he was her son, she believed in him. She believed that he would someday ascend to godhood.

That's why Artemis was here. Climbing the steps to a shrine where Amaterasu would raise her son, where she would be forced to separate from her little Moonlight. She didn't want to leave her son. She wanted to be the one to raise him full time. To be there when he had a nightmare, to comfort him whenever he was scared, to teach him how to survive in the wilderness, how to hunt. She wanted to say to hell with the rules and just disappear with her son, but she knew she couldn't do that. Olympus would go into a frenzy, Zeus would order everyone to search for her, likely believing that she had been captured by someone. Chaos would ensue. So with a heavy heart she would have to give her son to Amaterasu. For both his protection and to keep order in her pantheon.

With these thoughts in her head Artemis finally made it up the steps to the shrine. Amaterasu was there waiting for her already, she had a sympathetic look on her face. It was clear to her that Artemis really didn't want to be separated from her son, but she also knew that she had to do it.

"Hello Arti." Amaterasu greeted her daughter-in-law.

"Mother Ama." Artemis greeted back, her voice sad and sullen, she looked close to tears.

Hearing how sad her voice was made Amaterasu's heart ache. She reached out and hugged Artemis close, whispering reassuring words into her ears in an effort to soothe her. Artemis couldn't handle it and soon broke down in her arms, openly weeping in sorrow.

Eventually, Artemis calmed down and stopped crying. After separating from her mother-in-law, she looked down at her son who was sleeping in her arms. She smiled lovingly at him before kissing his head, giving one more longing look, then handing him reluctantly to his grandmother.

"I love you my Moonlight, never forget that." Artemis whispered lovingly, new fresh tears flowing down her face.

"Don't worry Arti. I won't allow him to believe that you didn't love him more than life itself." Amaterasu told her reassuringly. Artemis sent her an appreciative look before setting one last kiss on her son's head. Artemis slowly backed away, turning around after a few steps and continuing to walk. The urge to turn around and run back to her son, to hold him in her arms again and never let go was getting stronger with every step she took. But she knew that the longer she stayed the harder it would be to leave.

With those thoughts in mind and a heavy heart, Artemis disappeared in a flash of silver, returning to Olympus.

Amaterasu watched her leave with a sad expression on her face. It pained her that the mother and son duo had to be separated but Artemis' pantheon had rules that needed to be followed, or there would be grave consequences. Amaterasu took that moment to look down at her grandson and smiled.

'Everything will turn out fine my Little Light. I promise.' Amaterasu thought with a bright smile.

That's the chapter ladies and gents, this one was more emotional than the previous one. The next chapter will be more about Haru in his early childhood to pre-teens.

Anyway, I'm sure you noticed the Parenthesis in the story containing numbers, those are the new Author's notes. At the end of every chapter, if you see any of those, there will be an explanation in this area.

For example:

(1) - Tanjiro's Earrings from Demon Slayer.

(2) - When talking about his mother's from his perspective, when he says "Mom" he will be talking about Artemis. And when he says "Mother" he'll be talking about Himari.

That's what it will look like at the end of every chapter that has an AN.

Also, as mentioned in the first chapter, this is a harem story with at least two goddesses in it. However, this story will not have direct incest in it. So no Artemis and no Amaterasu in the harem, every other goddess is fair game.

Alright that's all I have for this chapter, I'll see everyone in the next one.
