Halo, it's time for the next update. Enjoy the reading.
The city of Vale has been invaded by Grimms and they weren't mindless, wild ones that are easy to deal with. These were older Grimms who could have been through hundreds of battles and years and had waited a very long time to kill people. They were strong, more intelligent and much more experienced than their young counterparts.
The defenders of the city, if they stood up, couldn't do anything against them, since the strength and superiority of the Grimm simply overwhelmed the human and robot soldiers.
If the Grimm had been the main problem, it wouldn't have been much of a challenge to push them back but Vale's defenders were caught between two fires.
While most of the army held the front against the Grimm on the border, the White Fang struck Beacon, trapping Ozpin and the leadership at the academy, cutting off the possibility of Hunters and Huntresses going to help the border. Beacon's defenders weren't made any easier by the fact that the White Fang was using transport vehicles to drop Grimms as reinforcements.
The two or three platoons of soldiers and dozens of robots that were in the academy did their best to keep the civilians safe and push the faunus terrorists and Grimm out of the academy area but the White Fang, along with the Grimm was too strong for them.
Scores of soldiers and innocent civilians died in this attack. The fair, where the students had been carefree the day before, was now in flames, corpses were lying around and Grimms were marching everywhere.
The situation in the arena wasn't any better, even after most of the spectators were successfully evacuated, as the Nevermore were still attacking the force field vigorously.
- Warning: - The mechanical female voice spoke. - The energy level of the force field is dangerously low.
- Ruby! – Lance was still there next to Ruby, who was still looking in shock, not caring about the people around her fleeing, the Nevermore that was about to break through the protective shield, and Lance, who was helplessly trying to bring her to her senses. - Ruby! We are in danger here!
The Nevermore broke through the arena's protective shield and landed in the middle of the arena, in front of Pyrrha, who was still in shock watching the remains of Penny she dismembered. Jaune tried to run over and help but the shockwave from the impact of the Grimm bird pushed him and Pyrrha back.
Lance definitely wanted to help her but he was too far away. As he stood up to help her, a strong wind hit his side, she turned around and Ruby was nowhere, again. As she looked towards the arena, he saw Ruby with her Semblance dash across half the arena, pick up one of Penny's swords and stab it through the monster's chest, knocking it back to protect Pyrrha.
Ruby jumped back and was ready to fight the beast.
- Ruby… - Pyrrha could hardly believe that Ruby, after what she did to Penny, was trying so hard to protect her.
- Leave her alone! - Ruby yelled, determinedly aiming Penny's sword at the Nevermore.
The beast used its wings to gain momentum, flew up into the air, circled the arena and swooped low towards Ruby to finish off the two girls with a single swift blow.
A stack of rocket-powered lockers crashed into its body, completely pinning the creature to the ground so that it could no longer move.
The lockers were opened and the weapons of the participants of the competition appeared in them. Ruby, Pyrrha and Lance looked towards the stands and saw that they were not alone. The team JNPR, CFVY, SSSN, ABRN, and FNKI were all ready and determined to fight to the end for Vale and Beacon.
Unfazed by this heroic stand, the Nevermore broke out of the lockers and prepared to attack the students but even before that, the students attacked first. With perfect teamwork and coordination, the Nevermore was executed without difficulty. In the end, Norah hit her in the head well with her hammer, after which Yatsuhashi and Sage joined forces to decapitate her.
The beast's body evaporated within seconds.
- You were awesome! – Lance, who was left out of the battle due to the lack of his weapons and armor, has just entered the arena, along with Mike. - Would somebody give me a Scroll? – Mike immediately gave his own before Lance punched in a well-known combination and another cabinet crashed into the arena, containing Lance's armor, shield and sword.
- Ruby… I… - Pyrrha couldn't hold back her tears, she looked down at the piece of cloth clutched in her hand, which came from Penny's dress. - I'm so sorry.
- Me too. - Ruby felt no anger towards Pyrrha at all. Just regret and pain at the loss of your friend. - It wasn't your fault. - she was completely determined and clenched her fists.
- You're right! - Jaune stepped in as well, holding Pyrrha's sword and shield. - The one who spoke into the microphone, they were responsible for this. - He handed the weapons to Pyrrha. - We have to make sure that no one will be taken again.
- Right! – Lance put on his armor, attached his shield to his sword and twirled his sword in his hand.
- This is going to be very exciting! – Mike also loaded What the Heck and the others also loaded their guns.
Unfortunately, this touching moment ended the moment an army of smaller Griffon Grimm began pouring in through the roof of the arena, following the Nevermore.
- Sun! - Ruby stood up confidently and looked at the Grimm.
- Hm?
- I need your Scroll for a moment. – The faunus boy took the Scroll out of his pocket with his tail and tossed it to Ruby.
Ruby also punched in a combination, after which her closet also appeared, with Crescent Rose in it, her scythe. The girl was already running for her weapon but a Grimm landed on the cabinet and forced Ruby to back away.
A screeching sound could be heard, knocking the Grimm to the side and driving it away.
- Students! - Professor Port fired the shot, and Professor Oobleck was next to him. - It would be best for you to leave now.
- But… - Ruby tried to argue.
- Ms. Rose, - Oobleck immediately interrupted the girl. - this day will surely have a place in Remnant's history. I want my students to live to tell about it.
Ruby and the others also understood that the most important fight wouldn't take place in the arena and that their teachers would be willing to sacrifice themselves so that they could get out of here and participate in the defense of the city and the academy.
- Then let's go! - Ruby ordered after taking, opening and twirling Crescent Rose in her hands.
- Like a real Huntress. – Lance just walked past her and smiled proudly at her but suddenly, they became aware of the light of a flash. Velvet, the bunny faunus girl, also photographed Lance's sword, shield and Ruby's scythe.
- Velvet! – Her teammate, Coco, told her not to fall behind and she ran after her team without a word.
The students left, leaving Port and Professor Oobleck behind for one last, final battle, vowing to fight to the end.
They got to the landing field of the arena, which was still crowded with fleeing civilians, whom the soldiers of Atlas and Vale tried to save with all their might but they couldn't get on the planes at the same time, so they had to be arranged in lines.
Unfortunately, the White Fang launched an attack here as well and several transport ships appeared, from which Grimms jumped out, including an alpha Beowolf, which tore several Atlas robots to pieces without much difficulty.
Its rampage was about to be stopped by General Ironwood, who defiantly approached the alpha. He started running towards it slowly, the Grimm did the same, the general picked up a faster and faster pace and everyone expected that he was going to pound this beast into the ground with his bare hands but at the last moment, when the alpha would have thrown itself at him, he bent down, took out his pistol and shot the Grimm in the stomach.
Ironwood was ready for another attack, as was the alpha but the general shot it at least 3 times but the alpha didn't even flinch and landed a blow on the general but parried the next one with his right mechanical arm and grabbed the creature's paw. He shot a powerful, explosive projectile into the floor, knocking his opponent off balance, then swung the creature over him with his robot arm and knocked it to the ground, then pulled him over his head and shot him directly into the skull, causing it to collapse for good and vaporize.
As soon as he saw the determined and armed apprentice Hunters, he was both proud of the bravery of the young generation and saddened that he would send them into battle at such a young age.
- What's going on?! - Ruby was the first to speak.
- The Grimm flooded the city and the White Fang raided Beacon and what's even worse … a vagabond hijacked one of my flagships and destroyed the others with it. Until I regain control of it, there's a good chance we won't be able to defend Vale. So… - He stopped suddenly, raised his pistol and shot a Grimm in the head, which would have attacked the students in the back. - I take it back. - He turned around and boarded his own plane, which was full of robot soldiers.
- And what should we do? - Jaune asked as the general turned back.
- You have two options. You'll save your city and your school or you'll save yourself. – The students looked behind each other in shock. - No one will blame you if you run away. After all, you are only children.
- One more thing, General! - Lance applied. - Our teammate, Lynda Dawn, she would certainly be of use to us if you let her go! – Lance was absolutely sure that his two teammates wouldn't have turned against him. - Please let her go.
- Fine. - Ironwood pressed a few buttons to instruct his men to release Lynda, then turned and boarded his plane. - Go! - The ramp closed behind him and the plane took off.
The students struggled in silence for a while as to what to do next but Sun broke the silence.
- So, what now...?
- I think, - Jaune came up with an idea. – we can catch a plane to Beacon.
- Then let's go! - Lance instructed the others, he and the students were already on their way to the first flight but he saw that Ruby was staring at something. - What is it, Ruby? - She watched Ironwood's plane rise into the high night toward the broken moon and fly away.
- Nothing. – Ruby had a bad feeling but she didn't want to worry the others, she and Lance started towards the plane.
- Don't worry, - Ironwood will get that ship back. More importantly, he let Lynda go! She will surely help us.
- I just hope she won't be mad at us.
- I'm sure she'll growl but by time she'll forgive you.
- And what about Mandy? – Ruby asked, reminding him that the fox faunus girl can also increase the enemy's side. Lance took a deep breath as he closed his eyes.
- I hope I can talk to her before someone does something that everyone will regret.
The students boarded the transporter and heard an explosion not far away. It was Ironwood's plane that began to fall in flames. Everyone stared in horror, hoping the general would survive but without a word Ruby ran to the exit of the plane.
- Ruby, where are you going?! - Lance shouted after her but Ruby didn't even answer, she opened the door and jumped out. She used her Semblance to get back into the arena and started running. - I hate when she does that. - Lance shook his head.
The plan worked like a well-oiled machine, exactly as Cinder, Roman, and Adam had planned. The commotion in the arena drew more and more Grimm to the city's border, causing the defenders to send as many soldiers as possible to the border, after the death of that robot girl, Penny, Cinder gave her speech, which was the signal for the White Fang and Adam to attack.
Meanwhile, Neo freed Roman from the Atlas flagship and captured it, then used it to destroy the other two flagships, leaving Atlas unable to send reinforcements or provide support to the soldiers fighting on the ground.
Roman opened the map of Vale on the center computer to have a perfect view of the battlefield, commanding the White Fang formations from there.
- We're making good progress, - He said into his Scroll, with which he was connected to Adam and Cinder. - Adam, another team is coming from the right to surround you. Send Derrick's team to attack them from the side, then back off, lure them out into the open and I'll shoot them.
As it was, once the time came and the Atlas soldiers were a clear target in the open, Roman fired more laser cannons, destroying an entire platoon of Atlas soldiers and robots.
- Perfect hit. - Adam's voice could be heard. - All enemies destroyed.
- We're good, Neo! – Roman was confident and was sure that if everyone stuck to the plan, Vale's coup and the overthrow of Beacon would be a complete success. The girl was just happy that everything finally came together and that she and Roman were doing this together. - Cinder, how are we doing down there? – Said Roman again into his Scroll.
- We are still good but a larger army of Atlas robots arrives with a larger group of soldiers, which easily crush the White Fang and the Grimms that were brought here. Not to mention, General Ironwood is also heading your way. I hope Neo delivered my "gift".
- How much time do I have left?
- 5 more minutes. Wait until then.
- Got it. – Roman blew himself out and looked around at the control desk of the huge ship. - Let's see, - There were so many buttons that he didn't even know which one to start with. – what does this button do? - He dropped a pile of bombs in the woods outside the city. - Sweet! And what about… this one?! – He pressed another one, before throwing a section of robots from the height, which fell to pieces when they hit the ground due to the high fall. - Hm, nothing. – He had fun with the buttons for a while but Neo, who had been staring at the map until now, saw that the time had come to hand over the Scroll she had received from Cinder. - Is it over? - He took the Scroll and smiled wickedly before inserting it into the central computer. - Good. Let's see what Cinder's "friend" can do.
As soon as he put the Scroll into the computer, all the monitors turned red with the black queen symbol in the middle. The entire ship was engulfed in red light.
- Well, this is sure to be fun, Neo. – Roman confidently noted that most of the blue dots on the map turned red and the situation immediately turned around, since he installed a virus into the Atlasian robots' system that completely overwrote their commands. According to the new order, every human, Hunter and soldier were attacked and the targets marked as enemies were aided in the battle, the White Fang.
The sudden turn of the robots hit the defenders of Vale and Beacon like a cold shower, as two-thirds of the Atlas army was made up of robots, which now turned against them, completely disintegrating their lines, making them easy prey for the Grimm and the White Fang's another push and they started pushing them out of Beacon. It's only a matter of time before Beacon is taken.
Nor did General Ironwood escape. His own robots turned on him and damaged his plane, causing it to crash.
- We already won, Neo. – Roman confidently watched the map and saw that it was only a matter of time before the combined forces of the White Fang soldiers, the Grimms and the reprogrammed robots would occupy the city and Beacon. - Nothing can stop us now. – Suddenly, a knock shook the ship and the system indicated that something had landed on top of the plane. - Go see what that was. – He ordered Neo and after a nod she went out to the top of the ship. Roman stayed in the control room and coordinated the White Fang and controlled the Atlas robots.
- It's Vander, there's been a bit of a problem at Beacon's west wing! A group of Hunter cubs have appeared and are stubbornly resisting. Reinforcement would be needed.
- I send a group of robots to attack them in the back. Adam what about you? – There was no answer from Adam. – Adam?! Answer me! Beacon's final rush is coming soon! Report! – Still no answer from Adam. - Hey, if you don't act soon, the Grimms will get there too soon and you will be caught between two fires! Somebody! Answer me!
- Torchwick…! - Someone spoke but it wasn't Adam, it was Derrick.
- What happened?! Where is Adam?!
- Adam… he went totally crazy!
- What do you mean crazy?! - Roman shook his head. – Is he alive or dead?!
- He's alive... but... he totally clicked! He started a serious butchering!
- That's good, isn't it? - He just shrugged. - Shreds the enemy.
- You don't understand this! Not just the enemy but innocent civilians, our people and everything in his way! He's completely out of his mind!
- What?! - Roman rubbed his forehead and could hardly believe what he heard, he checked all the important people of the White Fang at work and found nothing unusual in them. Although Adam was the only one he didn't see at work, he didn't find it a particularly big problem, since it can't be that dangerous but if Adam doesn't follow the plan, it could still be a danger later on. - I can't do anything from here but I'll tell Cinder. - Switched to another frequency. - Cinder, can you hear me? Adam went crazy and I don't know if he's following the plan... - Before he could continue, Emerald spoke on the radio.
- Roman… Cinder is not here.
- Why isn't she there?! - He became more and more nervous as fewer and fewer of the leaders followed the plan. - Where is she?!
- She told us to wait and started towards Beacon.
- ALONE?! - He yelled. - What the hell is with everyone?! Am I the only professional here?! She should have waited until the White Fang pushed in!
- I don't know what her plans are but she wants to get something quickly.
- How is the White Fang doing?
- Good but their movement has slowed. We can't reach Adam, Derrick has also disappeared and there is no one to direct them.
- F*ck! - He slammed the table angrily. - If there is no leader, they don't know what to do! - He turned on all the officers' radios. - Someone, connect me with Cinder or Adam immediately!
Suddenly, everything shook, the alarm detected the presence of an incredibly strong Grimm, the mountain outside the city collapsed and a huge, winged Grimm emerged from it, which flew straight towards Beacon, while some sinister liquid dripped like black rain, from which even more Grimm emerged.
Roman felt another pang of annoyance as soon as he received a message from Neo.
"Guess who?"
She also sent the picture of Ruby.
"Little Red again?!", he sighed nervously, grabbed Melodic Cludgel and followed Neo to the roof of the flagship. "At least I can release the tension on someone."
He decided to put an end to her continuous intercession and take care of this annoying little girl.
At last, the day has come for the White Fang, when humanity's punishment for all the sins it has done to the faunus will finally begin. Adam, as he and his companions traveled towards Beacon was already excited to cleave his katana, Wilt, and open fire with Blush, the gun mounted in the scabbard of the sword, on as many human scums as possible.
- The time has come! - Derrick informed the others as he turned on his chainsaw after they felt the plane begin to slowly descend. Then he stopped and the door opened.
Armed and ready to fight, the faunus, after jumping out of the transporters fell on the unprepared soldiers of Atlas and Vale like a pack of wolves on a flock of sheep. Beacon's defenders, if they were outnumbered and had better weapons, couldn't do anything against the power of surprise and the speed of the White Fang.
Thanks to the quick response of the machines, Beacon's defenders finally had a chance to pose a serious challenge to the White Fang after a while but for now they were only able to slow down the enemy, as the Grimms they had brought with them weighed heavily on them.
Adam, for his part, cut down dozens of robots and soldiers in a matter of seconds and Derrick chopped up an Atlas Paladin with his chainsaw, and led by the two of them, the White Fang made its way forward, all the way to the academy courtyard.
In the courtyard, two things hindered them, one, the soldiers and robots protecting the Vale were able to create a strong position and the Grimm who were besieging the city border also started to break into the school grounds. Another thing, a group of apprentice Hunters arrived in the courtyard, who resisted much harder than the soldiers.
- Cinder, - Adam called Cinder on his Scroll. – the Vale people are too stubborn. A little reinforcement wouldn't hurt.
- You don't have to be afraid, Adam. - As they spoke, the Atlasian robots turned against the soldiers and the Hunter kids at the next moment.
The dice turned quickly and the White Fang, supporting the Grimms, easily broke through the Vale's lines and the way to Beacon would have been clear but the young Hunters blocked the only entrance and didn't allow the White Fang.
- These young ones are determined. – Derrick was a little sad that he had to execute such young people but he knew that the operation could not stop. - At least they die bravely.
- This is worthy of recognition. - Derrick thought he detected a kind of respect in Adam's words. - But that won't save them.
Suddenly, the ground began to shake and a huge explosion could be heard far in the distance, as the mountain outside the city suddenly collapsed and a huge, winged Grimm flew out of the remains of the mountain, heading straight for Beacon. As it flew over the city, it spewed black liquid in several directions, from which smaller Grimms were born.
- We already have it. – Adam already felt the taste of victory, the smell of his opponents' fear and despair on their faces, the knowledge that there was no escape for them, simply was like sweet nectar for him.
He saw a shop set up where some enemy soldiers entered and started firing at the White Fang's men. Without a word, he started towards the shop to smoke out the enemy. He kicked in the door and the soldiers were hiding there, opened fire on him but Adam pulled Wilt forward and absorbed the force of the shots, then executed the soldiers in a flash.
He suddenly became aware of a woman's scream and a child's cry. A mother and her child hid in the corner, protected by the soldiers but Adam went towards them and cruelly cut off the woman's head and stabbed the child in the stomach.
There was terror in the woman's eyes, and in her child's eyes, in addition to the fear, only one question was reflected, "Why are they doing this?" Adam wasn't at all affected by the way their blood dripped onto his mask. He just laughed. He was enjoying what he was doing. He enjoyed that he's finally not weak, that he finally doesn't have to be afraid anymore. Now he is strong, he is the one who is feared and finally, he can get everything he wants.
In a moment, a familiar smell hit his nose. More specifically, a scent he hadn't smelled in quite some time. A scent that affected him like the smell of blood to a predator.
It was the smell of Blake, who he saw from the shop window watching what he was doing. She put her hand over her mouth in horror after seeing what the man she once loved had become.
- Hello, honey. - Adam started towards his ex-girlfriend with a sadistic grin and blood on his face.
There was no going back.
The moment Cinder finished speaking, Mandy knew what she had to do and why, but it didn't ease her guilt.
She took a plane down to Beacon's courtyard, where she lay in wait, waiting for the White Fang to arrive and sabotage the defenders wherever she could.
While he waited, she put on her uniform, the black pants, boots, long-sleeved shirt and hood, the white vest with the White Fang crest on the back and the Grimm mask.
The first blow had already taken place, a group of transport planes arrived but it wasn't the faunus brothers and sisters who got out, Grimms who attacked the soldiers and civilians defending the Vale.
Mandy fitted and cocked the first arrow to her bow, aimed and released. The arrow went right into the head of an Atlasian soldier who was manning a fixed machine gun and was thus unable to cover his comrades.
Before anyone could come to their senses, Mandy teleported away and shot a platoon leader who was giving orders to his men. Next, she shot a soldier in the hand or more precisely, the grenade she was trying to throw but the arrow exploded in her hand, killing her and injuring several of her comrades.
She continued like this, ambushing so many soldiers and robots that she couldn't even count.
The White Fang was making good progress, pushing their way forward and Mandy easily covered her siblings from the shadows but when a plane landed with her classmates and the rest of the visiting team, she felt guilty again.
As her determination towards the White Fang began to weaken, her positions also began to weaken as the Hunter students posed a serious challenge to the White Fang soldiers but in a sudden moment, the Atlasian robots turned against them and against the soldiers, creating a serious standoff.
Mandy couldn't do anything else, she continued to line up the enemy but she didn't shoot at the young Hunters. She didn't want to hurt those who thought she was a friend.
She was hiding on the ground floor of one of the buildings looking for a new target when she heard someone behind her. She turned and immediately aimed her bow at him but she couldn't let the arrow go.
It was Mike, her teammate from the LLMM team, who took a close look at her and got to know her.
- Mandy? Is that you? - Mike could barely speak or perhaps out of fear or shock. - If you're going to kill me, just tell me why you're doing it? - She didn't say anything, she just kept pointing the bow at him. - Please tell me, did you hate us the whole time?
Mandy's hands began to shake, doubt and guilt gnawing at her inside and none of her parts wanted to harm the fat boy.
- Mike… - Finally, she opened her mouth. – I'm... very...
She couldn't finish because a flash of white appeared in the corner of her eye and a blow to her face sent her flying against the wall. She shook her head and looked up to see a familiar faunus girl with white hair and dog ears standing between her and Mike.
- Lynda?! - Mike saw her as a savior.
- Did you miss me?! – Lynda grinned, releasing her blades from her wrist straps, which she aimed at the other faunus girl. - Mandy, you bloody traitor! You arranged for them to be shut down, didn't you?!
- Yes. - Mandy cocked her bow again, ready to release it as the two faunus girls circled. - I wanted to deflect suspicion and you were the perfect scapegoat.
- We thought you were our friend. - Lynda replied, snarling angrily at Mandy, who growled back at her.
- My friends are my faunus brothers and sisters in the White Fang.
The three former teammates were ready to fight each other to the death.
