Happy Mother's Day!

I do not own.

"Mommy likes toast." 4 year old Jasmine said confidently to her siblings.

"She does?" Jade asked her twin.

"That's because it's the only thing she can make that we can still eat when she burns it." Kenji said.

"But she still likes it." Jasmine pulled the bread from the pantry.

"I'll squeeze the oranges for juice." Jade's eyes lit up as she reached for the knife.

"Oh no you don't." Kenji pushed her out of reach. I'll cut the oranges, and you can squeeze the juice.

"Aww, but I want to use the knife!" Jade whined.

"Dad will kill me if you start bleeding all over the kitchen again." Kenji said firmly. "If you really want to cut, you can use the plastic knife."

"The plastic knife is useless!" Jade pouted.

"Help!" Jasmine called out.

Jade and Kenji looked up to see Jasmine hanging off the edge of the counter. A stool was tipped over and the bread was on the floor.

"Hang on!" Kenji rushed over to grab his sister by the waist and lower her to the floor. "What are you doing?"

"I'm trying to put the bread in the toaster." Jasmine's lower lip quivered.

"I told you. I will use the toaster and all the other stuff. You can butter the toast after I'm done." Kenji admonished.

"Ouch!" Kenji looked over at his other sister.

She was holding her finger.

"Did you use the knife?" Kenji cried running over to check.

"I used the plastic knife, like you said!" She yelled back.

"Then how…" Kenji looked at the mangled orange on the table. Half a plastic knife was sticking out of the orange. The other half lay on the floor.

"You're too violent." Kenji said looking at her finger.

"What does that mean?" Jade asked. "Are you making fun of me?"

"It means that you like to hit people." Jasmine said.

"Oh, well I do like to hit people when they are bad." Jade said happily.

"What did the orange do to you?" Kenji let go of her hand when he was satisfied it was nothing but a slight bruise.

"It won't cut!" She accused it.

"Let me do it." Kenji yanked the plastic from the orange. Pulling out the real knife, he cut several oranges in half. "Here use these."

Jade started squeezing the orange on the juicer. Juice flew all over the place. He then put the toast into the toaster. When the toast popped, he handed her the bread and plastic knife. Jasmine happily began slathering butter and jam over the toast.

Kenji grabbed a food tray. Jasmine placed the toast on the tray. Jade put a glass of orange juice in next. Kenji grabbed a premade muffin next to the toast. Picking it up, he walked up the stairs with his sisters trailing behind. When they got to their parent's bedroom door, Jade knocked on the door. They heard the lock click. Six appeared at the door. Taking one look at his children's earnest faces, he opened the door wide to let them in.

"Happy Mother's Day!" They sang out.

Rebecca was sitting up with a smile on her face.

"You are all so sweet." She held out her arms. Jade and Jasmine scrambled into the bed and into her arms. She gave each a kiss on the top of their heads. Looking at Kenji, he walked over with his tray. She ruffled his hair as he placed the tray on the bed.

Six watched as his children and wife laughed and talked. When she was done eating, the kids took the tray and left.

"They're such good kids." She sighed.

"They are." Six agreed.

"I should get up and go clean up the kitchen." She said pulling off the covers.

"No, you take your time. I'll go." He bent over and kissed her. When he got up, Rebecca was surprised at the necklace around her neck.

"Huh? How?" She gaped as she touched the small emerald pendant hanging from a gold chain.

"Happy Mother's Day." Six smirked as he walked out the door.

Rebecca smiled. Happy Mother's Day indeed.

It's now the second Mother's Day without my mom. Remember to tell your mother and mother figures how much they mean to you.
