Chapter 3

A short time later, everyone was at a hospital in the city of Wichita as they were all in separate hospital rooms recuperating from their injuries. Fortunately for Rhonda and her sisters, neither of them was badly hurt from the explosion and Rhonda and Sybille were even given strong and powerful medication intravenously in order to combat their nausea and other symptoms.

Rhonda sat up with a big smile the minute that she noticed her Aunt Rebecca walking into the room.

"Aunt Rebecca, hi," Rhonda greeted her softly.

"How are you feeling, my love?" Rebecca asked.

"I'm fine, thanks," Rhonda answered. "Feeling a lot better actually. Still not really sure what the hell those people even injected me with back at that military research lab."

"Well apparently it was some kind of experimental serum and they were hoping to use it to see what kind of potential effects it could have on your powers," Rebecca answered.

"So how much long are the aftereffects going to last?" Rhonda asked.

"Well, hopefully for not too much longer. They should be wearing off pretty soon," Rebecca replied confidentially. "However, time will only tell what kind of permanent effect that serum is going to have on your powers. We're going to have to keep a close eye on that in the meantime."

"So where's everybody? Are they all okay?" Rhonda asked with a worried frown.

"Yes, they're all fine and well taken care of. Your sisters are fine too," Rebecca answered. "Sybille also had a pretty strong reaction to that experimental serum they gave her. But she's a very tough cookie, I'll give you that. Also I just got a call from your dad. Your mom is doing a lot better and she's out of the ICU. Hopefully she should be discharged from the hospital in a few days, as should you and everyone else."

"Oh thank the Lord," Rhonda breathed a sigh of relief as she exhaled sharply.

"In the meantime, just sit tight and if I have anything else to report, I'll let you know," Rebecca added as she then turned around and headed out of the room.

Then as soon as she was outside, she walked over to Agent Hawthorne as they started heading down the corridor together.

"Did you manage to recover anything from the ruins of the military research lab?" Rebecca asked.

"Not much, I'm afraid," Agent Hawthorne sighed dejectedly, shaking his head. "The DNA samples that were going to be used to create the new batch of Pokemon clones were destroyed in the blast and all of the Legendary Pokemon are now running amok around what is left of the town of Nowhere. It's an utter shitstorm right now as we speak. Also, we're going to need some Master Balls to capture all of them but I wouldn't even know where to get them on such short notice."

"I'll see if I can't get Esther to place an emergency call to Professor Oak from Kanto and let him know that we need an emergency supply of Master Balls," Rebecca groaned apprehensively while rubbing the back of her head.

"What a mess," Agent Hawthorne muttered exasperatedly as he and Rebecca continued to walk through the hospital corridors.

A few days later, Rhonda and her team were discharged from the hospital as they were now camped out in their spaceship on the outskirts of Wichita while planning their next move.

"So what do we do now?" Katie asked as she, Luthor, Jasmine, Shirley, Yuki, Mitchell, Lucas, Tommy, Cassie, Mariah, Maxie, B.J. and Andrew were all sitting together in a circle with their legs crossed together Indian style in the central hub area.

"We fight off the Legendary Pokemon for as long as we possibly can until we get the opportunity to capture them with the Master Balls that Professor Oak gave us," Jasmine replied.

"Yeah but none of us aside from Mitchell and Rhonda have any actual Pokemon and Rhonda's Charmander is definitely not strong or powerful enough to take on an actual Legendary Pokemon," Luthor interjected.

"True, but we still have the Digimon with us and they can digivolve into much stronger forms that are more than capable enough to hold their own against them," Shirley argued.

"She's got a point," Yuki nodded.

"And we even brought in some more friends to help us!" Agumon added as he gestured over to Herissmon, Monodramon and Gammamon, with all three Digimon waving hello to the team.

"Well, the more the merrier I say," Rhonda declared as she walked over to the rest of the group while cradling Sybille in her arms.

"Hey, Rhonda, how are you holding up?" Katie asked as she got up and walked over to her.

"Fine, Katie; thanks for asking," Rhonda replied with a soft smile as Sybille was cooing softly while glancing up at Rhonda.

"I was worried about you, you know," Katie said as she gazed at her tenderly. "A part of me was afraid that I wasn't going to see you ever again. I wasn't even sure what to think or even what to expect once we did find you in whatever room they had you holed up in."

"I know that I was in pretty rough shape when you guys found me, but I assure you that I'm fine now," Rhonda reassured her gently.

"So are we ready to fly back to Nowhere now?" Shirley asked Rebecca as she walked over to her.

"Just about," Rebecca answered. "We got another problem though."

She then showed Shirley and the others a video on her tablet of the Elemental Masks decimating and obliterating what was left of the town with their elemental abilities.

"What the hell is this?" Jasmine demanded.

"Apparently those mystical elemental masks are from another dimension and they are here to cause trouble. We need to stop them immediately," Rebecca answered.

"And how do we even do that?" Luthor asked.

"We're working on a solution at the moment that should allow us to contain them," Marni answered. "We better hurry though; I'm not sure how long this ship is going to be able to weather this storm."

A short time later, the spaceship finally arrived in Nowhere as a powerful torrent of rain was descending upon the smoldering ruins of what was left of the town. Zapdos then let out a shrill cry as it launched a bolt of lightning at the spaceship, prompting Rebecca to steer it away from it quickly.

"Let's get moving!" Mitchell hollered as he and the others climbed onto the top of the spaceship and then hopped on Lugia before taking off.

Lugia then let out a sharp cry as she flew over to where Zapdos was.

"All right, girl; let's go get them!" Mitchell smirked confidentially as he patted her softly on the left shoulder.

Then as the spaceship started to fire a huge volley of energy blasts at Articuno, Moltres and OG Lugia in order to keep them occupied, the heroes descended upon Zapdos as they prepared to capture it.

"Okay, here's our chance, Mitchell," Andrew said.

"Yeah," Mitchell nodded as he then took out a Master Ball from his utility belt and aimed it at Zapdos.

"Master Ball, go!" he yelled as he threw it right in the direction of Zapdos.

Zapdos then screamed as a red beam of light pulled it into the Master Ball and it disappeared inside. The heroes then watched as the Master Ball plummeted straight down to the ground and clattered onto the hard gravel pavement, signaling that it was finally caught.

Meanwhile, as the heroes were busy battling OG Lugia and the other Legendary Bird Pokemon, Agumon and his friends were taking on Entei and his crew.

"Agumon, digivolve to… Greymon!" Agumon yelled as he digivolved into Greymon.

"Hey, Veemon, use this!" Jasmine yelled as she tossed the Digi-Egg of Courage at Veemon and he caught it. "Use this to armor-digivolve!"

"Right!" Veemon nodded understandingly as he then digivolved into his next form. "Veemon… armor digivolve to… Flamedramon!"

"Hawkmon, digivolve to… Aquilamon!" Hawkmon cried as he digivolved into his next form.

He then flew over to Gatomon and they both began to levitate in the air as they started to fuse together.

"Gatomon… digivolve to… Angewomon!" Gatomon yelled as Aquilamon merged into her and she digivolved into Angewomon.

"Patamon, digivolve to… Angemon!" Patamon yelled as he digivolved into his next form.

"Tentomon, digivolve to… Kabuterimon!" Tentomon yelled as he then digivolved into his next form.

"Nova Blast!" Greymon roared as it spewed out ultra high temperature flames from its mouth.

However, Entei managed to dodge the attack and then shot out a burst of flames at it. Greymon then let out a groan of pain as it staggered back from the force of the attack, but managed to shake it off.

"Great Horns Attack!" it roared as it charged right at Entei and slammed its head right into its chest while thrusting it up high into the air, impaling it. Entei then let out a sharp cry of agony as it convulsed and writhed on Greymon's head.

"Wow, that's really gotta hurt," Maxie grimaced as she and the others watched the bloody battle play out.

"Yeah," Cassie concurred.

Mitchell then took out another Master Ball and threw it right where Entei was before Entei disappeared right into the Master Ball and was caught.

Meanwhile, Flamedramon was shooting fireballs from its hands as Suicune was doing its best to dodge them. Suicune then released a huge spurt of water from its mouth as Flamedramon managed to deftly avoid it.

"Fire Rocket!" Flamedramon yelled as it engulfed itself in an aura of flames before lunging right at Suicune as it began to assail it with a series of fiery and devastating punches.

Suicune then let out a loud roar as it released another large spout of water from its mouth and knocked it away, causing Flamedramon to tumble to the ground with a groan.

"Electro Shocker!" Kabuterimon yelled as it fired out an electric ball at Suicune and struck it dead on, causing Suicune to be severely electrocuted.

Suicune then crumpled to the ground as Mitchell tossed a Master Ball right at it and it was caught immediately.

Articuno then swooped down and launched a massive swarm of ice shards at the other Champion Digimon, prompting Angewomon to charge in and launch her own attack.

"Celestial Arrow!" she yelled as she fired a holy arrow straight at Articuno, only for Articuno to dodge it.

Articuno then unleashed a huge gust of wind at Angewomon as it knocked her away and caused her to tumble to the ground.

"Ugh!" Angewomon groaned as she staggered up to her feet.

"Hand of Fate!" Angemon yelled as she charged right at Articuno with her fist shining with a brilliant gold hue and swung it at its head, causing Articuno to shriek out in pain.

"Angel Slam!" Angemon cried as she summoned her Holy Rod before using it to pick up Articuno and slammed it right into the ground.

"Air Slam!" Angemon continued as she spun through the air while swinging her Holy Rod and continuing to strike Articuno repeatedly head on.

Articuno then flew back with a weak squawk as it then crumpled and fell to the ground.

"Now!" Katie yelled as Mitchell then tossed the Master Ball into the direction of where Articuno fell and Articuno then immediately disappeared right into the Master Ball.

"Awesome! We did it!" Luthor cheered.

"Two legendary birds down, one more to go!" Mariah cried while pumping up her fist excitedly.

"Actually, I think we're missing at least two more, plus Lugia," Cassie pointed out.

"But how are we going to defeat Lugia then?" Maxie frowned anxiously.

"I don't know," Mitchell sighed dejectedly, hanging his head.

Just then, the gang narrowly avoided getting hit by an Aeroblast attack as they looked up to see the OG Lugia snarling at them with narrowed eyes. The OG Lugia then charged up an electrical ball in its mouth before launching it at the heroes.

The heroes then dodged the attack once again as Mitchell prepared to order his Lugia to use a move.

"Lugia, use Hurricane!" he yelled as Lugia summoned a huge gust of wind with her wings, knocking the other Lugia away. The OG Lugia let out a sharp cry as it then summoned a huge bright blue ball of energy before firing it from its mouth.

Lugia then dodged the energy blast again as she then prepared to use another attack.

"Lugia, use Charge Beam!" Mitchell yelled as Lugia charged up an electric ball in her mouth and then fired it right at her opponent.

The OG Lugia then staggered back with a grimace as it struggled to regain its bearings.

"Now Lugia, finish it off with Psyshock!" Mitchell ordered.

Lugia then let out another sharp, piercing cry as it then summoned a huge swarm of tiny pink particles around Lugia before completely overwhelming it with them. The OG Lugia then somersaulted into the air with a slightly dazed and stunned look on its face as it appeared to be completely disorientated.

"Now here's our chance! Master Ball, let's roll!" Mitchell yelled as he tossed a Master Ball right at OG Lugia as it then disappeared right into the ball.

The Master Ball then plummeted down to the ground and landed on the pavement.

"Yes! Finally!" Katie cheered enthusiastically while pumping her fist up into the air.

Meanwhile, Moltres and Kabuterimon were deeply locked in combat as Moltres released a huge spurt of flames at Kabuterimon; Kabuterimon dodged it and then crouched down for a moment with its eyes gleaming with determined and hardened resolve.

"Electric Storm!" it roared as it then launched into the air while radiating and releasing a huge devastating shockwave, sending Moltres flying backwards.

Raikou also lunged straight at Angewomon with its paws outstretched and fangs bare, only for Angewomon to strike back with her Holy Rod.

"Holy Rod!" she yelled as she began beating it back relentlessly with her Holy Rod.

Lugia then turned around and launched a massive spout of water from her mouth, sending Moltres crashing straight to the ground. Mitchell then flung a Master Ball straight into Moltres's direction as it sucked the Legendary Bird Pokemon right into the ball.

"It's all over; it's finally bloody over…" Mitchell breathed a huge sigh of relief, leaning against Lugia's neck with a huge smile on his face.

"The hell it ain't," a male voice interjected and everyone turned around to see Wa-Wa and the rest of the Elemental Masks grinning at them maliciously.

"You ain't even seen nothing yet, folks!" Wa-Wa cackled evilly.

"Well, get a load of this, fellas," a female voice declared and the Elemental Masks whipped around to see Rebecca peeking out of the window while holding a massive military grade bazooka in her hands.

"What in the world…?" Rok-Ko stammered with his mouth gaping wide open.

"Sayonara, assholes!" Rebecca bellowed as she then launched four multi-colored balls at the Elemental Masks as they were hurtling straight at them.

The Elemental Masks then let out terrified and panicked yells as they were immediately caught by the magical balls and were soon gone. The magical balls then dropped straight to the ground and landed on the hard pavement below as they lay completely still, signaling that their reign of terror was finally over.

"Glad that's at least over and done with," Agent Hawthorne smiled at Rebecca.

"Yeah, me too," Rebecca nodded as she smiled back at him.

Lugia then flew down to where the Digimon were as they reverted back to their regular rookie forms.

"That was absolutely fucking brilliant! Just brilliant!" Jasmine screamed excitedly as she and Rhonda rushed over to embrace Agumon and Veemon tightly. "You guys really held your own against those Legendaries!"

"Thanks; can we go home now?" Veemon groaned in an exhausted and weary voice.

Jasmine smiled as she hugged Veemon even tighter, not intending to let go for a single moment.

A short time later, everyone was now back on board the ship as they were flying back to London. Julie and Doug were visiting Lee in the med bay as Lee was lying in a medical bed while flanked by two armed IDA agents.

"Why did you save me?" Lee demanded. "You could've just left me to die back there, you know."

"Well, that's because we're decent, honorable human beings, something that you wouldn't even know about," Julie shot back abrasively with narrowed eyes.

Lee just scowled with narrowed eyes as she tried to hold back her temper.

"Don't think for a moment that I will forget this…" she sneered.

"Oh believe me; you're not entirely off the hook here," Julie retorted sternly. "The minute that this spaceship lands in London, the IDA is going to have you and Steven hauled away in handcuffs."

"Like that's supposed to even scare me," Lee cackled derisively with a haughty grin. "Even if I somehow land in bars, my husband will get his lawyers to bail me out within the next 24 hours and I'll be on the first flight back to Miami."

"Oh I know," Julie replied with a knowing glare. "But don't think that all this money and prestige is going to protect you forever. Sooner or later all of your foul misdeeds are going to eventually catch up to you and I hope that when that day comes, you'll be prepared to face the consequences."

"Oh piss off, you snot-nosed, uptight little bitch," Lee snickered with an eye roll.

Then when the spaceship finally landed and pulled up in front of the IDA headquarters, the IDA agents helped Lee off the medical bed and escorted her out of the med bay. Lee then turned around and flipped off Julie before she was carried out of the ship altogether.

"Nice manners," Hope muttered underneath her breath, clearly not impressed.

"Okay, you guys really need to fill me in because clearly there's some kind of history going on between her and Julie," Bo said.

"Another time perhaps, Bo," Julie sighed wearily, massaging her forehead deeply. "Let's just go home and forget any of this ever happened."

"I need to get to the hospital asap so that I can finally go see my mum," Rhonda said as she looked over at Rebecca.

"I'll take you," Rebecca offered.

"Thank you, Aunt Rebecca," Rhonda smiled at her with a grateful nod.

A short time later, Rhonda and her friends were at the IDA conference room as they were getting ready to say goodbye to Maxie, Lucas, Tommy, Mariah, Cassie, and B.J.

"I'm sorry that we won't be able to join you on any more adventures," Maxie frowned apologetically.

"That's all right; you can always come back when you're a little bit older," Rhonda reassured her with a gentle smile.

"Yeah, Mom says that we got to focus on school in the meantime and these missions are taking up way too much of our time as is," Lucas sighed dejectedly. "And we won't even get to keep our Digimon friends either."

"Well, they got to go back to their own universe, champ," B.J. replied. "But don't worry; I'm sure that we'll see them again someday."

"Promise?" Lucas gazed up at his older sister expectantly.

"Promise," B.J. replied with an affirmative nod, her smile widening.

Lucas then nodded as he smiled back at her.

"Goodbye, Rhonda; we'll miss you," Agumon said as he nuzzled Rhonda.

"See you around, Agumon," Rhonda replied, petting Agumon softly on the head.

"Yeah, see ya," Agumon smiled sadly.

Katie, Jasmine, Luthor, Yuki and Shirley also hugged their Digimon partners as they hugged them back tenderly.

Agumon and his friends then walked over to their human Tamers as they turned around and waved goodbye to the team.

"Bye!" they yelled as they jumped straight into the portal and disappeared inside.

The portal then started spinning and rotating rapidly with a bright blue hue as a loud whirling sound rung in the air for several minutes before the portal finally fizzled out and dissipated altogether. Rhonda and her friends then stared at the portal sadly for a few minutes before turning back to the others.

B.J. then walked over to Andrew as she gave him a sad, wistful smile.

"See you around, Andrew."

"Yeah, same here," Andrew replied with a soft, pensive smile of his own.

It was then that B.J. suddenly leaned in and gave him an unexpected kiss on the lips before walking away and shooting one last longing glance at him.

"Goodbye."

Andrew just stood there with a flabbergasted and bewildered look on his face as he watched B.J. and the others leave the room with Rebecca and her team, but not before B.J. gave him one last look in his direction as she smiled at him tenderly.

"So what's going to happen to me now?" Aquadramon asked.

"Well, you can stay with me and my sisters in the meantime; I'm sure Mum won't mind," Rhonda answered.

"All right, if you say so," Aquadramon sighed with a reluctant shrug.

A little over an hour and a half later, Rhonda finally arrived at the hospital where her stepmother was recuperating as she and Abigail rushed over to Beatrice's bedside.

"Mum!"

"Mummy!"

"Oh my darlings! I'm so glad that you're all right! I was worried about you!" Beatrice beamed joyfully as she embraced her daughters tightly.

"We were worried about you too, Mum!" Rhonda said as she and Abigail hugged her back. "We weren't sure if we were going to see you alive ever again."

Beatrice then looked up to see Rebecca carrying Sybille over to her as she gently placed her into her arms. Beatrice then smiled as she cradled her infant daughter gingerly in her arms while soothing and comforting her.

"Hello there, love," she murmured softly as she tried to calm down the fussy baby. "Mummy's here; don't worry. It's going to be all right now; Mummy's here."

Meanwhile, back at the Marino manor, Lee was in her husband's study catching up on some last minute paperwork when suddenly she heard the phone ring. She then picked it up and answered it.

"Hello?"

"Hello, Lee; Steven here. I hope you enjoyed that brief stint in that London prison," a male voice replied.

"What the hell do you want this time, Steven?" Lee snarled. "Why can't you just leave me be?"

"I'm afraid I can't do that," Steve replied in a polite yet icy tone. "You see, my employers aren't exactly thrilled with how our last expedition turned out and they want better results, so you owe me."

"What in God's name do you even want me to do?" Lee demanded impatiently. "What more do you even want from me?!"

"You see, I was wondering where I might be able to find some valuable and lucrative treasure to sell for a handsome profit, so here's the deal…" Steven explained as he was leaning against his desk chair in his study while examining the Premonition Stone in his hand.

"You help me find some rare and exquisite artifacts that I can showcase in our upcoming summer exhibition in Soho and I would consider ourselves even. But if you won't help me with this task… I know exactly where your children go to school and if you really believe for a minute that I won't be able to get to them, then you have another thing coming."

"You wouldn't dare…" Lee sneered, her hackles rising. "If you even think of touching a single hair on my children you son of a bitch…"

"All that money in the world can't protect you, Lee Dumonde! Or is it Emily? Sometimes I forget myself…" Steven cackled maniacally, amused by Lee's reaction. "One way or another I always get what I want. And if you wish for no harm to befall your children, then you better do what I say, no ands, ifs or buts. Is that clear?"

"Crystal," Lee growled, her eyes narrowed.

"I'll be calling again in a few days with further instructions. Ciao," Steven added before he hung up and the line went dead.

Lee then let out a shaky exhale as she slowly placed the phone back into the receiver before she leaned back into her desk chair.

"Jesus Christ Almighty."

Meanwhile, back in Hollow Bastion, Maleficent was sitting in the makeshift meeting room while pouring over the contents of the spellbook. She then looked up to see Jeannie entering the room.

"What are you doing up at this time of night, my child?" she asked.

"Can't sleep," Jeannie confessed as she walked over to Maleficent and sat down next to her. "You still have that spellbook with you? I figured that you might have gotten rid of it by now."

"I would be a fool to get rid of something as potentially useful as this book," Maleficent replied as she kept on leafing through the pages. "Besides, I believe that it is time for you to advance to the next part of your training."

She then suddenly got up and gestured over to a blonde woman wearing a black frock as she approached them.

"Jeannie, this is my friend Zelda. Zelda, this is my young apprentice Jeannie Donovan. I believe that she is ready to undergo your training regimen."

"Very well then," Zelda nodded as she walked over to her with a beguiling smile. "My young one, are you ready to learn how to master the Forbidden Arts?"

"Oh yeah, definitely," Jeannie replied with an eager nod and a wide grin.

"Very well then; let's begin," Zelda declared as she began to laugh evilly while showing her a magical translucent orb, with a black swirl of dark magic circulating inside the orb as it gleamed ominously.

The End.
