Pain. That's what Stacie felt as she woke up to a loud beeping and an overly clean room. Her thoughts felt foggy as she tried to figure out where she was and what was going on.

"Don't move." Michael said quietly, placing his hand on his daughter's shoulder.

Opening her eyes, Stacie turned blue-green eyes onto her father and swallowed thickly, her mouth felt dry.

"You're in the hospital." Michael said softly, reaching up to run his fingers through his daughter's hair. "You were shot twice."

Clearing her throat, Stacie tried to speak but nothing came out except for a soft woosh of air.

Michael instantly stepped back and moved to grab her a cup of water, placing a straw in the cup, he moved back over to his daughter. "Slow sips." he said softly as he brought the straw to her lips.

Following his instructions, Stacie took slow sips until her throat no longer felt dry. "What happened?" she asked groggily.

Placing the cup down, Michael gently took her hand. "Tommy came to school with a gun, you and a few others were shot. Some of the injured did not make it, others only had grazes."

Tears instantly filled Stacie's eyes as she stared up at her father. "My friends?" she whispered fearfully.

"They're all okay, Beca got shot, but it was only a graze." Michael promised softly, leaning down to kiss her forehead. "I'm going to go get the doctor, then I am going to go let your friends know you're awake."

Beca had her hands on covering her face as she sat in the waiting room, Chloe sitting beside her. They hadn't heard anything since Stacie had gotten out of surgery.

"The doctor said the surgery went well, that's gotta be good right?" Emily asked, leaning into Benji as she looked around their friends.

Luke nodded his head, wrapping an arm around his sister's shoulders. "Bree, she's going to wake up soon and you should tell her how you feel." he whispered softly.

The waiting room became quiet again, nobody really knowing what to say or do. Their thoughts on the events of the day and on Stacie. Their parents had all shown up at the hospital and were sitting around the waiting room with

Michael made his way into the waiting room with a relieved smile on his face. "Stacie's awake." he told the group; his officers instantly moving over to pat his shoulder or hug him. "She's awake and it's going to be a long and rough road for recovery. But my baby is alive."

Beca instantly stood up before wincing as pain shot through her injured leg. "Can we see her?"

"Only two at a time, she needs to rest." Michael said calmly, looking at his daughter's best friend. "I am going to split you into pairs, to make it easier." he looked around the group before looking back at Beca. "Beca and Chloe go in first, Aubrey and Luke, Jesse and Kolio, Jessica and Ashley, Benji and Emily, Cynthia Rose and Denise, Lily and Flo." he continued listing off groups of two before looking at Beca. "Room 305."

Beca instantly took Chloe's hand and limped down the hallway, wanting to see her best friend as soon as possible. The hours that had passed had been horrible, not knowing if she was going to lose her best friend or not. She'd gone down a dark road when they hadn't heard anything about Stacie. But once the doctor came out with another update, she had only been more concerned about getting to see Stacie.

"She's awake, that's a good thing." Chloe said softly, gently squeezing Beca's hand.

Nodding her head, Beca took a deep breath as they made their way into Stacie's hospital room, her eyes widening as soon as she saw the leggy brunette.

"Becs." Stacie breathed out, smiling at her best friend and holding out her hand.

The shorter brunette instantly moved over to the bed, sitting in the chair beside it and taking Stacie's hand. "You had me so worried."

Closing her eyes, Stacie squeezed Beca's hand and took a deep breath. "It was Tommy." she mumbled, forcing sad blue-green eyes open.

"I know." Beca whispered back softly, searching Stacie's eyes. "If you had died, I would have brought you back to kill you myself."

A soft laugh escaped Stacie before she winced at the pain in her abdomen. "Don't make me laugh, it hurts."
