Engulfed in deep sleep, Jay was jolted awake by a piercing pain that shot through his head.
"Gah..." he groaned, wincing from the intensity.
With effort, Jay sat up, swung his legs over the side of the bed, and cradled his head in his hands, trying to steady the throbbing.
Beside him, someone stirred and began to softly massage his shoulders.
"What's happening?" Erin murmured, her voice laden with sleep.
Jay sighed and responded in a whisper.
"I've got a migraine," he admitted softly.
Erin's expression turned to one of concern as she whispered back.
"Do you want to lay your head down?" she offered.
Jay maintained his position, head cradled in his hands.
"Maybe in a bit. I'll just keep my head like this for now," he said.
Erin gave a nod of understanding and reclined against the pillows once more.
Jay remained still, a soft sob escaping him.
Stirring from her slumber, Erin sat upright, her voice a hushed murmur, "Come on, time to lay back down..."
She tenderly guided Jay's arms, positioning his head on the pillows and resting his arms across her legs.
"Just close your heavy eyes and have some sleep," she soothed, her words a gentle lullaby.
Jay's eyelids gradually closed as Erin's fingers worked gently over his temples.
As dawn approached, the team had settled in for the night, with Erin tending to Jay's throbbing migraine.
She knelt before him, her hands softly kneading the tension away.
"Just let go and concentrate on the pressure of my fingers," Erin encouraged, with a reassuring nod.
Surrendering to the solace, Jay nestled into her caress, exhaling a breath of solace.
Erin's smile broadened as she noticed Jay's eyelids grow heavy.
"It's the tension from your migraine weighing down on your eyelids. Go ahead, close them, love. Just let them close," Erin soothed.
Jay allowed his heavy eyelids to close and his head to rest on Erin's shoulder.
"Rest now, you can sleep. Your migraine will ease after a little nap," Erin whispered gently.
Erin settled on the couch with a sigh.
After a few hours of sleep, Jayden made his way downstairs.
Unaware of Jay's illness, Jayden toddled over to him.
"Can we color?" Jayden asked innocently.
Jay looked up, shaking his head.
"Not now, Jayden," he whispered.
But Jayden persisted, which agitated Jay.
"NOT NOW!" Jay shouted suddenly.
Jayden's lower lip trembled, and he slowly toddled back towards the stairs.
"Jayden... please wait," Jay exhaled with a sigh.
Jayden perched on the steps, his small arms folded in defiance.
"Oh, for heaven's sake!" Jay exclaimed in frustration.
Erin gently lifted Jay's chin, guiding his head to rest against her neck.
"There, there, it's alright," Erin whispered comfortingly.
Jay's sobs were heavy, his body trembling from the sharp pain in his head.
"My head... it hurts so badly, Erin," Jay managed to say through sniffles.
Erin encircled Jay's head with her arms, her fingers soothingly massaging the back of his scalp.
Jay grimaced, a soft cry escaping him.
Erin continued to hush him gently, her voice a soft murmur.
"Rest here; it will ease your pain. Just lean on me," she reassured him.
Jay wrapped his heavy arms around Erin's smaller frame and gently let them fall.
"Once you're settled, we'll head upstairs," Erin murmured softly.
Jay buried his face in the crook of Erin's shoulder, her fingers continuing to massage the back of his head.
"Could you grab Jay's migraine medication? It's in the box marked 'Migraine Medication - Jay's,'" Erin requested.
Hank acknowledged with a nod and retrieved two pills from the package.
"Here you go, love," Erin said gently.
Jay took the pills and chased them with a gulp of water.
"Is it alright if we go upstairs? It's just too noisy down here," Jay said faintly.
Erin responded with a nod and a kiss on Jay's forehead.
"Let's go," she murmured.
As Jay rose, his balance wavered.
"Whoa there! I've got you, buddy," Adam said quietly.
Erin took Jay's trembling hand and helped him up the stairs.
"We'll be back after a while," Erin told the team softly.
The team acknowledged and continued their conversation.
Erin helped Jay into bed and then joined him.
She gently pushed the hair from his forehead and massaged his temples.
Jay moaned quietly, clutching the sheets.
"Just relax, your eyes will shut soon. A good rest can help soothe the migraine," Erin soothed.
Jay sighed and slowly closed his eyes.
Later on, Jay was downstairs and was laying on the couch with his feet on the couch and his legs slightly up.
Erin walked over and kissed his forehead.
"How you feeling now, babe?" Erin asked.
Jay sighed and spoke.
"I feel pretty good..." Jay whispered.
Erin smiled and kissed Jay's head.
