Now humanity is facing extinction unless the singularities are repaired. Powerful Gods,demons,servants and other entities await, what human could stand against them. 9. Chapter 9

Chapter 8 Onigashima: The Three Gatekeepers

Unknown Area

A strange demonic-looking skyscraper towers over a city. A large man looks down and watches from above. A man in a suit and glasses walks in to give his report.

"The singularity has been clear and the targeted Holy Grail gone." Man in suite reports.

"Not to worry there will be plenty of opportunities to get more. What else."

"Reports about one of my fellow colleagues going rogue have been increasing."

"Is that so? How troublesome."

"He seems to be gathering his own forces for something."

"Hoh, is he now?"

"Yea, my lord."

"Just leave him be. He is not worth my attention."

"One of our agents Nelo Angelo has been slain."

"What? How? He was practically unmatched. No human is capable of defeating him."

"We believe it was the Human group called Chaldea."

"That small group of weak humans manage to pull that off huh? Well no matter, I still have plenty of pawns to spare."

Kyle turns around and a couple of demons in armor that were with him from before, appear in front of him. The man in the suite feels shivers from being in their presence.

"You two go check out our rogue demon here and keep an eye on him. I'll let the humans deal with him."

The two demons in black armor walk out of the room.

"Is there anything else?" Kyle

"That concludes my report."

"You may go."

The man in a suit walks out of the room.

Chaldea Prior to Vergil's arrival

Olga Marie Animisphere, daughter of the Animishere family, a prestigious magi that is one of the top ten families in the Clock Tower. Mariusbury Animisphere was the founder of Chaldea. Olga held her father in high regard. Once she found out that she had zero aptitude for ray-shifting, she could not understand how, since she was the daughter of Mariusbury.

"Why? I'm Animishere.. I'm my father's daughter." Olga in disbelief.

When her father was found dead in his office, Olga was brought in to fill the role of Director. Olga believes in her family's pride to serve the very best in any circumstance regardless of trouble or accident. After she inherited her father's position, she found out that her ideal father had been conducting cruel experiments.

"What is this? You knew about this and let it happen? Did my father not say anything." Olga in disbelief.

"It was your father who started this." Romani informed Olga.

"What a strange question to ask, are you not a Magus?" Lev asked Olga.

The shock left her anorexic for a month and three times more hysterical. Olga became afraid of Mash thinking she was out to kill her for what her father did to her.

Medical Center

"You've lost weight. Marie.." Romani didn't even get to finish

"I don't want to talk about it." Marie lashed out.

"I haven't .."

"She is consumed by the thought of taking my life in the most gruesome way possible! With father gone she will take her revenge on his daughter!"

"Mash would never do that."

"You don't know that for sure do you?"

Olga leaves the medical room.

Chaldea Hallway

Olga walked down the hallway carrying a few folders.

"Did you hear the Director?" One staff member asked.

"I heard echoing all the way down the hall." Staff member replied.

"I'm not complaining as long as I get paid."

"Easy for you to say, you don't interact with her directly."

"Anyway, you can't help but compare the two Directors."

"Well can you blame us, Director Mainsbury was in a league of his own."

Olga was outside listening to the staff conversation. After hearing enough she continues on down the hallway. Olga felt frustrated after hearing the staff member's conversation.

Olga Room

Lev opens the door to Olga's room and sees her sitting on the floor against the wall curled up.

"Oh my, you've made a mess of your room again."

"I'm my father's daughter and everyone mocks me. I'm the daughter of Aumishpere. I'm doing my best but I can't catch up to him." Olga in tears.

"You're doing an excellent job. Even if no one else understands you I do. I know of your efforts."

"Lev."

Lev just smiles at Olga.

Olga Office

Olga was inside her office going over the teams. Team A was an elite group that was worthy of summoning Heroic Spirits and they were all chosen by Marisbury.

Breakroom

Olga enters the breakroom and finds Team A members socializing. She explains to them that they need to show a better example for the other teams to emulate.

"Do forgive us, Director, Team A has to deal with most of the most critical missions. Could you indulge us on breaks from time to time?" Berly asked with a smile.

Olga looks around at the Team A members.

"All of you were chosen by your father." Olga thought to herself.

Olga's heart started racing.

*Heartbeat SFX*

"Director, are you ok, you don't look well?" Ophelia asks.

Negative thoughts began to fill her head as she looked at each member.

"Talentless." Ophelia

"Eyesore, hysterical woman." Beryl

"Zero aptitude makes you inferior to a normal human." Kodac

Olga leaves the room.

Hallway

Olga ran down the hallway. She starts breathing heavily.

"Everyone is looking at father. Father is looking and someone else and not me. Nobody is looking at me."

Olga's heavy breathing continued while being tormented.

"I'll continue to work hard until they praise me. Even if that day will never come. Someone, look at me." Olga pleading and breaking down to tears.

When Olga took over the position of Director, she was on the verge of a nervous breakdown. She had to carry the burden of the Animusphere House, the pressure from the Cloak Tower Mage Association, and the pressure from her sponsor. Olga's troubles only continued, the day off Chaldea was attacked during one of the first experiments of ray-shifting to Singularity F, there were several bombings that went off.

Singularity F

She woke up and found herself in the Singularity F however the city was in flames and ruins. The last Master Fugimaru and Servant Mash rescue her from a group of skeletons that attack her. After assessing the current situation they planned their next move to fix the Singularity. The group would later team up with Lancer Medusa and she provided more information about the situation. Once they made it to the underground cave and confronted Saber Alter, the situation intensified. Saber Alter proved to be a formidable opponent that not even two Servants could handle. The situation appeared lost once Fujimaru, the last Master was slain, Mash was knocked out and Lancer Medusa was about to receive the killing blow from Saber.

"Oh my God, what do we do? We all are about to die!" Olga panicking

The next unexplained phenomenon that happened left Olga confused and uncertain for what happened next. Fugimaru's body was surrounded by dark blue energy and a dragonoid figure stood there. (Refer to Ch 1.5)

"Wha- What is that?" Olga is uncertain if it's an ally or foe.

Whoever or whatever it was, defeated Saber Alter.

"This being seems to be an intelligent lifeform of some kind since it's capable of human language." Olga accessing the situation.

Olga heard a familiar voice that brought hope to her world, the one person she trusted and saves her when she is in trouble, Lev. Unfortunately, that was not the case this time. Lev reveals that he was the one who planted the bombs and that once the Singularity is over she will die.

*Glass Crack SFX*

Olga did not take the news very well. The one person she trusted and supported her, is the same one that devastated the Chaldea her father built and says her incompetent is what caused this tragedy. Olga runs towards Lev, in disbelief. Lev uses his power to levitate her and send her body into the Chaldeas system.

"No! Somebody help me! I don't want to die! Nobody ever acknowledged me or praised me for my hard work! I can't die like this! I can't!" Olga cried and pleaded.

Olga tried to resist but it was futile. Levi, Olga, and the mysterious dragonoid were left standing in the collapsing area while Mash was unconscious. The being made of energy made its move by severing Lev's arm and sending him flying into the wall. Olga, no longer being pulled in, was now falling. The height that she was falling from would have killed her. The last thing she remembered is falling.

Chaldea After the Singularity F

Olga woke up and found herself in the medical center. She checks herself to see if has any serious injuries or if she is in some kind of dream. Romani comes to check on her.

"Romani, is that you?" Olga asked.

"Yes it is. The one and only Medical Advisor." Romani answered.

"What happened, how am I still alive? Where is Lev?"

"Director, take it easy, you've been through a lot."

"I need to know what happened and what's the situation?"

"The Singularity was fixed. Lev is our enemy and our situation is worse than we thought."

"Lev is our enemy now, what will we do against a being like him?" Olga is still in disbelief about Lev's betrayal.

Romani shows Olga the tablet of the current situation. Olga's eyes widened on this shocking discovery.

"We just barely made it through that last Singularity and we lost the last Master while the rest are in critical condition. How are we going to repair all these?" Olga thought to herself.

Flashbacks of the strange dragonoid of energy appear in her head.

"We still have no information on that thing we encountered. I hope we don't run into it again. We already have enough to deal with right now."

Olga focuses on the images on the screen.

"Oh, I forgot to mention that Fugimaru is resting in his room."

"Hah?" Olga sounded confused.

Olga had a confused look.

"That is not possible, I watched him die. What the hell is going on here?" Olga uncertain.

"Wake him up and have him meet me and the staff members in the command room." Olga commanded as she got out of bed.

"I'll send Mash to bring him to the command room." Romani replied.

"I'll find out who you really are. I know what I saw out there."

Command Room Prior to Meeting

Olga was going over the personnel records and pulled up Fujimaru status.

"This is absurd, these readings can't be right." Olga in disbelief.

Olga hears the footsteps approaching and switches the screen to the Singularities that need to be repaired. The staff members and a few Servants enter the command room. Olga saw nothing out of the ordinary, gave a sigh of relief and prepared her brief.

*Wake Your Fury Wait in Hell DMCS SE OST cue*

A pair of footsteps were approaching the command room. The door opens and Olga looks up and sees someone she doesn't recognize. A man with white hair pushed back and blue eyes entered the room. Vergil, Son of the Legendary Dark Knight Sparta enters the room with Fou sitting on his shoulder.

"Who is that? He looks like a noble from the Cloak Tower." Olga thought to herself.

Vergil entered the command room while looking around as he walked into the meeting. Olga continued to act natural while planning to get answers from him once everyone was gone. After the brief, Olga dismissed everyone to talk to the last Master one on one. She learns his true identity and why he is here.

"Who are you really candidate no. 48? I know what I say out there! Explain what's going on!" Olga staring at Vergil

"I'm Candidate No.48 Fugimaru Ritsuka." Vergil answered.

Olga wasn't buying it after what she saw in the singularity and reviewing his profile. A human defeating a Servant is unheard of and is considered suicide if one were to fight one.

"This guy thinks he can fool me." Olga getting irritated.

Vergil had a stern expression.

"That's bullshit and you know it. I've seen his magical capabilities and aptitude for rayshifting. He was just average but you are way above that. Let's not forget, I watched you defeat a Servant and not just any Servant mind you. Now tell me who you really are." Olga sets up a barrier to prevent Vergil from trying to flee.

"Tsk. My aren't you a persistent one. Very well. I am Vergil, Son of the Legendary Dark Knight Sparta." Vergil answered.

"The Legendary Dark Knight Sparta? I've never heard of that name anywhere in human history. I'm familiar with kings, queens, knights, gods and goddesses."

"That's because he wasn't human to begin with." Vergil points out.

"Even if he wasn't human, I have no knowledge of this Dark Knight."

Olga also find out that Vergil is also a demon from another world and he tells her not to disclose that to anyone along with his true identity to the other staff members. Vergil also briefs her about what happened after she lost consciousness.

"I must be going crazy, me, saved by a demon. I don't think I've ever heard of a demon saving a human. No one would believe this. Still, it doesn't change the fact that he saved me." Olga looked at Vergil with her hand across her chest, trying to calm down.

Olga still had some doubts about Vergil being a demon. After Olga had a talk with Vergil, he left with Fou hoping on his shoulder. Olga saw Vergil's demonic shadow as he was leaving. The figure matches what she saw back in the singularity. Vergil along with Medusa, Mash and other Servants summoned,would repair the first singularity, a small step forward for Chaldea. After the first singularity, Olga came up with an idea that would be beneficial to Vergil as a Master.

Olga's Office

Olga was in her office sitting at her desk and Artoria Alter was munching down some junk food. The door opens and Vergil walks in with Medusa accompanying him.

"You need something, Director?" Vergil asked Olga as he walked towards her desk.

Medusa waited near the door while Vergil conducted his business with Olga.

"Thank you for coming by. Please have a seat. Would you like some tea?"

"Yes." Vergil replied.

Vergil sits in one of the chairs in front of Olga's desk along with his cup of tea. Olga took a quick sip of her tea and then directed her attention to Vergil.

"After the events of the Singularity, I've put some thought into the things you mentioned along with some other possibilities. I need you to get familiar with some magecraft."

Medusa and Saber were curious about what Olga suggested for Vergil.

"Care to elaborate?" Vergil asked.

"It's still early in our mission to restore human history but what we may encounter is limitless possibilities. So having some magecraft under your belt wouldn't hurt, especially given your background." Olga explained.

Vergil would give Olga's suggestion some thought as she does bring up a valid point.

"Master, believe this will be beneficial for you in the long run and magecraft can be useful depending on what you wish to use it for during a mission when subtle methods are not efficient enough. This could also be looked at as another form of power that you seek." Medusa explains to Vergil.

Vergil took a few more sips of his tea. After hearing Olga and Medusa's explanation Vergil decided to get familiar with some magecraft.

"Very well. I shall familiarize myself with this magecraft you mentioned." Vergil answered.

"Good. Meet me in the library after dinner and we will start there. That's all I have for you." Olga concluded and took a sip of her tea.

"Very well. I'll meet you there." Vergil stated as he finished his cup and set it on Olga's desk.

Vergil and Medusa leave the room.

"I was surprised Master decided to take you up on your offer." Artoria not expecting that outcome.

"I was a bit uncertain but I wanted to at least assist however I can." Olga looks up after sipping her tea then sets it down.

After she set her cup down she noticed Vergil's cup was empty. She gave a small smile after seeing the empty tea cup.

Later that evening Vergil and Olga went over some simple magecraft.

Unknown Location, Present Day

Forest

Somewhere inside of a forest many creatures and demons roam inside a forest near a town. An unconscious female individual laid against a tree. The person was dressed very much as a business secretary of some kind. She also appeared to have some injuries since the area in front of her had broken branches in front of her. A group of demons spotted and slowly began to approach her.

Onigashima Island

Vergil side

Vergil encounters the Servant Shuten Doji and they battle some demons they encountered. Shuten informed Vergil that the island is called Onigashima. After they clear out the demons in the area she takes her leave. Vergil watches her leave by leaping through the trees. After she left the area, there was movement coming from the bushes. Vergil stood by casually waiting for whatever to emerge. Jeanne Alter emerges and meets up with her Master.

"Is it always like this coming into a Singularity?" Jeanne asked Vergil.

"Hard to say." Vergil replied.

"Oh yeah right, You've only done a few of these." Jeanne recalls.

"We need to regroup with the others. Is there any else around?"

"No, it was just me out here and I ran into a few demons not worth mentioning."

"Hmm. Let's not waste anymore time here." Vergil turns and heads out.

"How do you know where to go?" Jeanne asked while trying to catch up.

"There is a large area that connects to other areas. We will start there." Vergil advises

Vergil and Jeanne made it out to Forrest and onto the beach.

"It was as Vergil said. The beach was large and we could access the other area from the base of the mountain and work our way around." Jeanne looked around as she followed Vergil.

Vergil and Jeanne regroup with everyone from Chaldea. Mash check on them.

"Master, Jeanne, are you alright?" Mash ask.

"Other than landing in the wrong stop." Jeanne replied.

Mash turned towards Vergil.

"Just some annoying pest. We should not idle too long." Vergil answered.

"So they are here as well?" Medusa asks as she walks up to check on Vergil and Jeanne.

"Indeed. They, along with the locals, will more than likely get in our way." Vergil points out.

"That is to be expected from them." Medusa replied.

"My Lord, the Director has confirmed that this island is indeed Onigashimsa, although the island itself never existed in Japan and someone created it." Ushiwakamaru making an entrance.

Vergil looks over to see a woman hardly wearing any armor on.

"Oh, Master, remember we summoned a few more Servants before coming out. They happen to be experts in Japan. This is Ushiwakamaru." Mash explained.

"Ushiwakamaru…" Vergil calls for Ushi

"Yes my Lord. Servant Rider," Ushiwakamaru awaiting orders.

Servant Rider Ushiwakamaru

One of Japan's most well known Commanders.

"What can you tell us about the island?" Vergil asked

"The island itself has been rumored but no deity from Japan had actually created it."

"What makes you say that?"

"No human could make an island of this size and to create something from a children's fantasy story is an even more difficult feature to perform, you would have to be a god." Ushiwakamaru explained.

"You telling me, some random god or goddess just made an island for reasons unclear?" Vergil clarifying.

"Put it simple like that, yes."

"Master, there probably is a reason for this island's creation. No one just makes something like this without a reason." Scáthach points out to Vergil.

"Let's uncover that reason then." Vergil replied.

"My Lord, after the Director Olga passed the information she said she will contact us after some time to see how we progressed." Ushiwakamaru explained.

"Very well."

They set out to begin their investigation and along the way Fou picks up a scent and runs towards it and Ushiwakamaru chas after Four like it was some competition of who finds it first. Shortly after, Ushiwakamaru comes back.

"My Lord, we found someone lying on the beach unconscious!" Ushiwakamaru.

"Show me." Vergil commands.

Ushiwakamaru leads everyone to the location of the unconscious individual but when they arrive there is a group of oni surrounding him.

"This is bad. The person is surrounded." Mash points out.

"What is that?" Jeanne asked.

"Is this supposed to be a joke of some kind?" Medusa wonders.

"It looks like an oni from paintings,"Ushiwakamaru observed.

"To be more accurate, it's like someone just took it out of a book and brought it life." Scáthach speculated.

"No matter how you look at it there is something wrong with the island." Mash noted

"Talk about that once they're gone." Jeanne focuses on the enemy.

"You orders Master?" Mash asks

"Eliminate them." Vergil ordered them.

"Engaging the enemy onis." Mash prepared for com

Mash and Ushiwakamaru charge toward the oni.

There was only a small group of them but Ushiwakamaru and Mash made their way towards the group of onis. The onis were alerted and went to see who was approaching them. They see Mash and Ushiwakamaru coming in and they were about to charge until their movement was restricted. They look down and see a chain wrap around their ankles. Mash leaps into the air and comes crashing down with her shield and launches the onis into air. Ushiwakamaru with amazing speed hops in and decapitates the onis.

"Ah, what a letdown, their heads rolling off like any other heads. They say onis are much stronger than humans so I was expecting a little more." Ushiwakamaru had a disappointed expression.

"Enemy onis eliminated. No other enemies on site." Mash reports

Vergil and the others reach the unconscious individual that looked like a ninja with red hair.

"Checking his saint graph and he is indeed a servant." Mash analyzed.

The unconscious servant started coming to.

"Uhh.. Who are you? So tired and exhausted." Servant asked.

"We'll talk about that later." Medusa informed as she spotted more incoming onis.

A moment after he was regaining consciousness more oni began to show up. The Servant throws a kunai and it lands in between the eye of an oni and it drops dead.

"Wow, such speed and accuracy." Mash was amazed.

"My name is Fuuma, Kotarou and my class is Assassin. Since there are more oni incoming, we'll save the rest of the introduction for later.I don't know if I'll be much help but I'll do what I can." Fuuma introduced.

5th Fuuma Clan Leader

"This man clearly lacks some spirit. No worries, we gladly accept." Ushiwakamaru being cheerful.

"Master, more enemies are approaching in greater numbers." Mash alerted Vergil.

"Tsk, annoying pest." Vergil annoyed.

"Master, your orders?" Mash asked

"Prepare to engage them." Vergil commanded.

The oni came charging in at the Chaldeans. Mash meets them head on and knocks a few into the air using her shield. Ushi follows up by cutting their heads off. More onis come rushing in towards them. Jeanne waves her arm and a wall fire trails across the onis setting them on fire. She also summons her black spears and shoots them at the onis. Medusa throws her chains daggers at an oni that was just set on fire. She pulls the oni towards her and knees it in the face followed by jumping over the oni and throwing it into a group of oni. The same oni was then yanked back towards her and slammed into other onis violently. Scáthach leaps in and summons more red spears and shoots at the onis. After she lands on the ground, she fires off more spears at the oni. The Servants were able to deal with the wave of onis with no issues. An oni impaled by Jeanne's black spear was still alive, struggling to remove the spear from its torso. The oni was suddenly set on fire followed by its skull being crushed by Jeanne. Even the mysterious ninja Servant was assisting in defeating the onis. He took his kunai and threw it right between the eyes of an incoming oni. Ushi was amazed at the speed and accuracy he had with the weapon.

"Wow, that was an amazing shot, could you teach me how to do that?" Ushi getting excited.

"Thank you. Unfortunately I will not be able to teach you because I'm not a very good teacher." Fuuma replied.

"Well, that's too bad. If I learn skills like the ones you have, I'd be it would be very useful." Ushiwakamaru replied.

"It is not that great compared to your quick and daring movement out on the battlefield…."

"Oh my name is Ushiwakamaru Minamoto. My class is Rider."

"A Rider class, that could explain your quick movement and a samurai too. I really don't like samurai much but since you're from Minamoto that's a little bit different."

"Cut the chatter and prepare for another wave!" Jeanne alerted them.

A third and larger wave was coming in and surrounding them.

"This is starting to look bad." Mash was looking around.

Vergil looked around at the number of onis that kept appearing while holding Yamato up in front resting on its tip in the sheath.

"The onis numbers have increased since the last wave. It would be wise to eliminate them and move on." Vergil accesses the surroundings.

"I wonder if there is something drawing them to us like this?" Medusa points out.

"Oh my, this is quite the number before us." Scáthach looked around but had a small smirk while making sure no one would notice. She looks over to check on Vergil.

"Now my Master, how will you respond to this situation?" Scáthach wondered curiously.

Vergil took another look at the increasing number of onis. Scáthach had a small smile as she was hoping to finally see her Master in action with her own eyes. Meanwhile Fuuma has resolved to use his Noble Phantasmal to create an escape route for them.

"They sure gathered up a lot more just for us. What shall we do, Master?" Ushi asked while looking around.

"They are in the way." Vergil replied.

"You're not worried?" Scáthach asked.

Vergil looked around with his eyes then back at Scáthach.

"No. The Queen of Shadows couldn't possibly be concerned with small fry like this?" Vergil asks with a small smirk at Scáthach.

"Hoh, is the Master saying the Queen of Shadows can't handle this group of onis?"

"Just the opposite actually. I'd like to see more of your capabilities."

"So you want to see more of what I am capable of huh? Very well Master. I'll show you what this Scáthach can do." Scáthach looking at Vergil.

"Master, I wish to do the same." Ushiwakamaru requested to show more of her capabilities.

"Very well. Proceed." Vergil answered.

Vergil looks over Jeanne.

"So you're just going to let them cut loose?" Jeanne asked.

"Why not? They have no chance against all of you." Vergil calmly points out.

"Heh, this will be a piece of cake." Jeanne smirks at Vergil.

Jeanne prepared to engage the onis along with the other Servants. Mash spotted something heading their way and fast.

"Master look! Someone is heading towards us!" Mash points out.

"What is that loud noise?" Jeanne asked.

"Look, he jumped off the cliff!" Mash shocked.

"Fouu." Fou watched as the individual jump the cliff.

"What is that thing he is on?" Fuuma asked.

"That's.." Medusa wasn't certain.

"That's?" Scáthach had no idea what it was either.

The loud noise seems to grab the attention of the onis. The individual lands on some onis then drives through them and stops near his Master Vergil.

*Vroom Vroom Loud Motorcycle noises SFX*

"Hell yeah! Who's ready for a Golden Time?"

Vergil tilted his head to the side a little bit.

"Sakata Kintoki, is that you? Why are you dressed like that?" Mash asked Kintoki.

"I came to this island to scout out the place and found myself like this along with a new class." Kintoki replied.

"What class are you?"

"My class now is Rider. This class came with this awesome mechanical bear on wheels."

Vroom Vroom SFX*

Servant Sakata Kintoki, Class Rider.

One of the Four Heavenly Kings. Mr Golden.

Kintoki has a biker attire of black leather with yellow lines and sunglasses with yellow hair.

"Master, what is that thing he is riding?" Scáthach asked.

"A motorcycle." Vergil replied.

Kintoki takes a look at the Onis in front of him.

"Is this a joke? You can't be serious? I've slain a lot of oni but I've never seen any that look like this before." Kintoki starts laughing at how the oni looks.

"Mr. Golden, please take this seriously. You shouldn't laugh like that. That's what villains do. You'll upset the children." Mash being serious.

"Oh it will? Well we wouldn't want that now would we." Kintoki being serious.

Scáthach surprised about Mash mindset.

"Master, is Mash always like this?" Scáthach.

"She can be during certain matters." Vergil calmly replied.

"I see. I'll keep that in mind." Scáthach glanced over at Mash for a bit.

"Here they come! Engaging enemy onis!" Mash shouts.

The onis were slowly approaching the Chadeans.

"Goin bare knuckle." Kintoki fist charged with lighting.

Kintoki dashes forward and delivers a punch to a group of onis and the fly everywhere. Kintoki jumps backwards into the air and then comes back with a hard electrifying kick.

"Rock N' Roll!" Kintoki shouts.

Kintoki chips one oni in half with his bare hand and punches and kicks another oni.

Scáthach zipzaps through the enemy oni with two spears, cutting them up as she passes by them.(Dark Funeral Gait) Scáthach turns in another direction and launches her red spears at the onis.

Ushiwakamaru and Fuuma swiftly move through onis as they cut down their foes with speed and precision. Ushiwakamaru makes quick work as she slashes and beheads her foes.

Medusa dashes at high speed past a group of onis. She delivers a series of hard kicks that crack their skulls open. Medusa kicks another oni into the air, jumps up and spikes it back down into a group of onis.

Jeanne dashes in and smacks a few with her flag. She turns into another direction and swiftly waves her hand. A wave of fire followed it and incinerated the oni in its path. Jeanne ignites her sword and cuts down the onis with it.

The Servant took out the onis in the area. Mash looked around and didn't see any onis in the area.

"Enemy is defeated." Mash announced.

Ushiwakamaru approaches Vergil after defeating the onis.

"Master, I've followed your instructions to the letter." Ushiwakamaru happily expressed this to Vergil.

"You handled them quite efficiently. Continue to do so." Vergil calmly answered.

Ushiwakamaru felt cheerful and gave a head nod to follow her Master's instructions.

"It's good to meet you, Boss." Kintoki approaches Vergil after they defeat the onis.

"You are Sakata Kintoki, one of the Four Heavenly Kings?" Vergil asked Kintoki.

"That's me, Boss. You can call me Mr. Golden or Kintoki. Whichever is easier for you. If an oni needs slaying, I'm your guy, I happen to be an expert in slaying onis." Kintoki points at himself with his two thumbs.

"I'm certain there will be plenty of oni for you to slay. Mr. Golden."

"By the way Boss, I heard you are quite the warrior yourself?"

"You will have to judge that for yourself." Vergil answer.

"Hooh, a Boss of Mystery. I like that. I hope to see the Boss in action while we are here in the Singularity."

"I'm certain you will." Vergil replied.

Kintoki gave a small grin like he was fired up for a fight. Vergil observed Kintoki for a bit and noted that his personality was similar to his younger brother Dante in some manner. Fuuma approaches Vergil.

"You are the Master of these Servants?" Fuuma asked.

"That is correct." Vergil replied.

"What brings you here to this island?"

"We are here to investigate the island and correct this Singularity as well."

"I see, as thanks for saving me, I shall aid you with the investigation and provide any information I can."

"That will be most helpful Fuuma."

Two random onis appear and change towards the Chaldeans. Vergil and Fuuma alerted by their presence and turn in their directions, ready to engage them. Scáthach notices Vergil's sword glowing and crackling. Vergil launches a Judgment Cut with amazing speed and accuracy.

"You're finished."

*JC SFX*

A circular distortion followed by a whirl of slashes cuts down the onis before Fuuma could land a strike. Blue demonic power begins to gather.(Vergil begin accumulating)

"Woah." Fuuma was surprised.

He looks back and sees Vergil with his arms crossed.

"Did he attack from this distance? This Master must be quite a formidable warrior. I wouldn't want to make an enemy of Chaldea Master." Fuuma thought to himself after witnessing the onis get cut down.

Scáthach having witnessed Vergil attack left a favorable impression on her.

"So that is one of Master's attacks. I wonder what other attack he is capable of doing. Perhaps I can convince him to do a little sparring match with me." Scáthach thought to herself.

Vergil notices something on the beach and heads over to examine it. Once he arrived he found a bunch of onis cut up and in pieces. The amount of time passed is uncertain.

"These onis were cut down by two people." Vergil looking at the scene.

Vergil examines the scene more.

"This scene, could it have been from that time I was sleeping? Is that even possible?" Vergil thought for a moment if such a thing was possible?

Around the same time, for a brief moment he felt a strong presence observing him and Chaldea from a far.

"This presence. It's a powerful Servant." Vergil note while looking around.

"Master?" Medusa calls out to Vergil

Vergil leaves the scene and heads back with Medusa.

"You found something?" Medusa asked while walking alongside Vergil.

"I'm certain it's not related to our investigation but that area looks very similar to what I dreamt about before coming here?" Vergil informed Medusa of his findings.

"You came to a Singularity without rayshifting? Is that even possible?" Medusa asked.

"A question for the Director and Da Vin Chi at a later time. Right now we need to focus on the matter at hand."

"Understood." Medusa replied without asking any question.

Vergil and Medusa returned back with the rest of the group. Jeanne sees Vergil and Medusa walking up.

"Sightseeing while investigating Singularity? You sure are carefree, Master." Jeanne smirks at them.

"Nonsense, Master came across a scene that looks familiar to him. Whether it's related to our investigation can't be determined at this point in time." Medusa explained.

"Is that so?" Jeanne looks at Vergil.

Vergil just had a stern expression.

"Nothing to be concerned about for now. We shall continue on with the investigation." Vergil stated.

"Well, if Master says it's nothing to worry about then I'll leave it at that." Jeanne crosses her arms.

Vergil, Medusa and Jeanne catch up with everyone else and continue on with their investigation. Along the way he wondered about the scene he came across.

"Mash." Vergil calls for her.

"Yes, Master." Mash replied.

"Have you heard of the name Musashi Miyamoto?" Vergil asked her.

Medusa and Jeanne were curious about this person Vergil mentioned.

"Woah. Let me see." Mash recalling what she knows.

"Ahh yes. Musashi Miyamoto was known as the strongest man in history during the early Edo period of Japan. He founded the Niten Ichiryu which is known for dual wielding a katana and wakizashi." Mash explained.

"The strongest swordsman in the hisptory of Japan. So he was a man in this world? Hmm? The one I met was a woman. She mentioned she travels like us. The real question is if she is real or not?" Vergil wondered.

"I'd be happy to tell you more about him after our investigation is completed here." Mash suggested.

"Yes, I'd like to hear more." Vergil replied.

Vergil began to ponder about his encounter with Musashi a little bit more. The investigation continues on and along the way small purple sparks off around Medusa and traveled towards Vergil. This lil spark seems to be healing somewhere.

Inner World, Throne Room Blue lighting

Deep within, there exists a place where the Master and Servant can communicate even their inner selves have this capability. The demonic side of Vergil sits on his throne in the dark blue lighting until he receives an unexpected guest. The entrance opens and a familiar figure enters the area. Gorgon, Queen of the Demonic beast, seeks an audience with her Master's demonic side. Gorgon looks around the area and examines how different it is from hers. Gorgon's inner place is totally dark like the cave she hid in from her sister when her mutation progressed to a certain point that she didn't want to be seen by her sisters, however her Master's was different. Gorgon slowly walks towards Urizen. As she moves closer, notice he wasn't even looking at her as his eyes were closed.

"Are you going to sit there and say nothing?" Gorgon arrogantly asked.

"Of your existence or your strength?" Urizen asked.

"Both you, asshole!" Gorgon getting irritated.

"You come here to die?" Urizen opens his eyes and looks at Gorgon.

Gorgon standing firm.

"Heh, you wouldn't harm your Master's Servant would you?" Gorgon asked arrogantly.

Urizen waves his hand slowly in a horizontal motion with a dark pink glow. Multiple demonic circles appear under her with a laser aiming down ready to fire down on her. Gorgon looks down at the screen and at Urizen.

"State your query, to the point." Urizen command.

Gorgon realized it would be wise not to provoke Urizen any further.

"The Master. Is it true about him and his origins?" Gorgon asked.

"Still concerned about that even after you've seen him with your own eyes?" Urizen asked.

"The humans, I hate and don't trust them. So I seek answers from someone other than a human, since you have been with him." Gorgon stated.

Urizen glares at Gorgon.

"Do you hate the Master as well?"

Gorgon stared at Urizen for a second while she recalled that time Vergil did save her during Orleans.

"I don't know about him. I don't want my other self to be deceived." Gorgon turned her head to the side.

Urizen snaps his fingers and the demonic circles shattered.

*Glass Shattered SFX*

"Your concern about the latter is not needed." Urizen points out.

"How can you be certain?" Gorgon asked.

"Such an act is beneath him and would serve no purpose. If it bothers you so much then you should be out there and not here." Urizen state.

Gorgon eye focused on Urizen and walks towards the exits. While heading out Gorgon hears a few demonic shots go off and head her way. She quickly turns around and shoots them. A dark pink demonic circle appears under her and aims in on her. Gorgon jumps backwards to dodge the one in front her. She was then hit in the ass from a delayed but well timed attack shot. Gorgon turns towards Urizen while looking a little red with teary eyes. She started glowing a little bit.

"You bastard!" Gorgon yells and leaps towards Urizen.

Urizen smirks at Gorgon as she heads towards him with her fist charged with mana. Urizen extends his hand and holds her attack. Gorgon trying to push forward. Urizen looks Gorgon in the eye.

"You two are not so different." Urizen points out.

"Huh?" Gorgon lost her focus for a moment.

The same time, Urizen used just enough power to blast Gorgon out.

"What did he mean by that?" Gorgon Urizen while she was flying backward.

Gorgon noticed she was hardly wounded from that last attack. She had a confused look for a moment and looked in Urizen's direction.

Elsewhere on the Island

Further inland of the island inside a teahouse, a certain swordswoman can be found washing dishes.

"*Sign* Just my luck. I end up here, suffering a bit of memory loss and end up in a fight and now I'm stuck washing dishes and serving tea because I couldn't pay for my meal. Is this how it ends for me." Musashi reflects on recent events.

"Although, there was that interesting fellow in blue. He should be here too suffering with me but by the time I came back he was nowhere to be found. How dare he leave a comrade behind. I'll make him take responsibility and pay our tab. *Sign* Oh Buddha, save me from this horrible path before me."

"Vergil, this is your fault! So get me outta here!" Musashi upset.

Elsewhere on the Island

"Achoo!" Vergil sneezed.

"Are you alright Master?" Medusa asked.

"I'm fine. Let's continue on." Vergil replied.

"Yes, Master." Medusa answered.

Mountain Trail

"How is the investigation going?" Dr. Romani asked.

"Dr. Romani, this is unexpected. The

The Chaldeans traveled up along the mountain trails. Kintoki went ahead to make sure the area was safe. Along the way, Mash spotted a labor camp of onis working the humans.

"There are many camps like this around the island. Even if we manage to free them they will just be captured by one of the other camps. The best we can do is investigate the one responsible located at the center of the island." Fuuma explained to Mash while looking down at the camp.

"How do we reach the center?" Jeanne asked.

"That part is rather simple. The route leads to the center however proceeding through there is not so simple. It has three gates that are guarded by powerful oni in addition we require a key to proceed through." Fuuma explained.

"I see nothing difficult about that. We just need to kick their ass and take the key. What's the big deal?" Jeanne asked.

"I wouldn't look down on an oni strength and resilience. Up til now, we have dealt with the smaller ones. onis come in all sorts of different sizes." Fuuma informs Jeanne.

Vergil recalls that human-looking oni he encountered earlier.

"Although small, she appeared strong the way she handled those demons." Vergil pondered.

"How did you come across such information?" Scáthach asked Fuuma.

"I interrogated an oni to get this information." Fuuma replied.

"I see. The information will at least point us in the right direction. We just need to find these gates and defeat the oni to pass through." Scáthach summarizes.

"That's correct." Fuuma assured Scáthach.

The Chaldeans continue along the path they were on.

"I'm detecting some oni ahead. Let's get a closer look." Fuuma detects some oni up ahead.

The Chaldeans moved closer to check out the activity that was going on ahead with the onis. Once they were close enough, they saw the aftermath of an oni just killing an elderly man and another human.

"Jeez these humans are so fragile and lazy." One oni complained.

"If you don't keep an eye on them they will try to get out of work." Another oni points out.

"Yeah and something like this happens. These humans need to put some muscle on their weak bodies."

"I wonder if we make them eat rocks, will they grow some muscle?"

"I'm not too sure on that one."

Vergil and the others were close enough to hear the conversation while taking cover behind some boulders.

"There appears to be some oni that are capable of human speech." Medusa notice.

"I wonder if we can communicate with them." Mash wonder.

"That effort will be pointless since they see humans as weak beings." Vergil points out.

Around the same time, a woman in armor appears and confronts the oni.

"You there! How dare you kill those humans for no reason!" ?

The oni turned and saw a woman with long black hair in armor.

"You are.." one oni recognized her.

"My blade is swift like thunder and merciful of the raining heavens. May you die in great agony."

*Slice SFX*

The woman in armor cuts the oni clean in half. More oni show up to confront the woman in armor.

"Master, that black beauty just slayed oni like it was nothing." Mash amazed.

"The strength in her swordsmanship is amazing. She cuts their tough skin like it was tofu." Ushiwakamaru was also amazed.

"Fou." Fou looked with amazement.

"You two go and assist." Vergil looks at Jeanne and Ushi.

"Yes Master." Jeanne and Ushi answered and headed out.

Medusa, Scáthach and Mashu approach Vergil.

"There is no point in sending everyone in with a limited space on the path. Keep an eye out for any activity." Vergil points out.

Vergil heads out with Jean and Ushiwakamaru to aid the woman in armor.

"We're here to aid you!" Unshiwakamaru informed the woman in armor.

The woman in armor ready her sword and slash upward. She swung with such force a trail could be seen in the ground and sliced through several oni. She leaps in and delivers a thunderous strike that obliterates several more oni when she lands.

After they defeated the group the woman in armor turned towards Vergil, Jeanne and Ushiwakamaru. The other Servants make their way to Vergil.

"Your assistance is greatly appreciated." woman in armor giving her thanks.

The woman looks at Vergil and smiles. Vergil looks back at her and wonders what she was smiling about.

"Hey Master, put the pretty lady with long black hair on the line. She gots huge… *Ahem* a huge source of information." Romani getting excited.

"Doctor, there are some things that are best left unspoken." Vergil points out.

"Oh come on, you can't tell me you didn't catch a glance. You can't call yourself a man if you didn't. I'm sure you probably caught a glance of that beauty." Romani continued.

Jeanne was staring at Vergil's with daggers.

"Pervert." Jeanne utter.

"Doctor, refrain from such outbursts in the future." Vergil advises.

"My, my, where is that voice coming from? I hear him but don't see him. He has a timid yet discreet individual." woman in armor looking around.

"He is responsible for overseeing medical emergencies. Pay him no mind." Vergil explained.

"How cold, don't leave out the conversation." Romani still trying to talk to woman in armor.

"Fufufu. Don't mind me, strangers. I was simply passing by. Just how exactly did you end up on this island? There won't be another ship for a while." Woman in armor stated.

The woman looks over and sees Ushiwakamaru.

"My, my, what a cute little warrior you are. Who might you be?" she asked Ushiwakamaru.

"I.. I'm Ushiwakamaru. The way you defeated those onis was a sight to behold. Your swordsmanship was amazing. You must be a well-renowned warrior." Ushiwakamaru stated.

"Well..fufu…" (begins to head pat Ushiwakamaru)

The woman in armor used headpat on Ushiwakamaru and it's super effective. Vergil made a note on these headpats.

"Is this head pat really that effective?" Vergil wondered.

"She is like a happy dog being pat for doing something right." Jeanne points out.

"No need to pay any attention to me, my cute little warrior. We both had things that needed to be done and our paths just so happened to cross as a result."

The woman finished the head pats.

"If fate should bring us together again, then let it be so. I will take my leave." Woman in armor taking her leave.

"She left. Could we have stopped and asked her more questions?" Romani asked.

"That would be ill-advised." Vergil points out.

"I agree. A woman like her, we would not have been able to stop." Fuuma points out.

"What do you mean by that?" Scáthach asked.

"She must have been a woman in high rank to move around independently," Fuuma noted.

"She had a strange aura to her. A very motherly aura to her." Mash observe.

"Motherly huh." Vergil looks at the woman in armor after hearing Mash's choice of words.

"Staring at her pretty hard as she leaves, Master." Jeanne walks up to Vergil.

"Nonsense." Vergil replied.

"What were your thoughts on her?" Medusa asked Vergil.

Just as she was leaving, a group of demons appeared and were making their way towards them.

"Strangers from afar. Allow me to clear a path for you." a woman in armor looks back at them.

The woman had lighting crackling around her for a bit. She takes her stance with her sword ready.

"Such mana." Mash feels her power.

"Insignificant insects. Be incinerated!" the woman shouts at the demons.

The woman in armor sent a powerful wave of lighting at the demons and left nothing behind. Afterward, she continued on her way. (Vergil accumulated more demonic power.)

"That woman, she's pretty powerful." Jeanne noticed.

"Yes, she certainly is powerful. There seems to be something else about her." Vergil agreed.

"Something else?" Jeanne was not sure what Vergil meant.

"I'm sure we will find out while we're on this island." Vergil looking in the direction of the woman in armor set off.

A short time after Kintoki returns.

"Kintoki, by chance did you pass a tall slender woman in armor with long black hair?" Fuuma asked Kintoki.

"Yes, she had this motherly charm to her." Mash added.

"She was quite fearsome with the sword too. The way she cut down the oni like tofu. It was amazing and also terrifying at the same time. It almost seems inhuman how strong she was." Ushiwakamaru added.

"That's pretty specific, details. Hmm, a beauty in armor with long hair you say? No, I didn't see anyone as I was coming back." Kintoki replied.

"I see. Let's go over notes from your recon." Mash

"The way they describe this person, could it be her?" Kintoki poundered.

Kintoki shared what information he was able to gather while he was out.

"The information you have gathered is very similar to what Fuuma has gathered." Medusa analyzed the information.

"Yes, if we want to reach the top of the mountain, we will need to get through the three gates along the way, which are guarded by the greater onis." Kintoki summarizes.

"The peak of the mountain is where we will find our answers to this Singularity. The path is pretty straightforward." Scáthach noted.

"To the top of the mountain!" Ushiwakamaru raised her fist.

Fou nods his head in agreement with Ushiwakamaru. Vergil looks to the top of the mountain before heading out.

Near the First Gate

The Chaldeans continue to make their way to the first gate and along the way they encounter demons and oni. They finally reach the first gate. It was a large green gate with only one entrance.

"I'm picking up a large wave of magic energy up ahead. It must be the first gatekeeper." Romani announced.

A large muscular green oni with a bull's head stood in front of the gate. The weapon he had by its side was a large ax in. The oni noticed he had company.

"Stop trespassers. Only those who prove their strength may pass." The green one spoke.

"He talks." Mash was surprised.

"Since he is a greater oni, I would have been surprised if he didn't." Fuuma points out.

"Be warned. If you underestimate this oni it will cost you your life." The green Oni smirks.

"He sure is confident about himself." Jeanne noticed.

"Well, oni are naturally stronger than humans so it's expected that he will look down on us."

"Should we rest a bit before taking on this oni?" Mashed asked.

"A wise course of action Mash. Since there is no need for all of us to engage the gatekeeper." Scáthach walks past Mash and towards Vergil.

Vergil and Scáthach gauged the gatekeeper before continuing on.

"Master, you don't mind do you?" Scáthach turns towards Vergil.

"You seem quite eager." Vergil noticed.

"Oh, of course. This creature should make a decent warm up compared to the others we face so far."

"Hoh, then show me your motivation." Vergil uncrossed his arms.

"Oh course." Scáthach gave a small smirk before taking off.

Scáthach makes her towards the gatekeeper. Medusa, Mash and Jeanne make their way to Vergil.

"Master, should one of us go with Lady Scáthach?" Mash asked Vergil.

"She did seem a bit eager to fight this gatekeeper." Medusa notice.

"It's fine. I'm certain she can take care of this guy." Vergil looks out in Scáthach direction and then at Jeanne.

"You want to go?" Vergil asked Jeanne.

"I'm fine here." Jeanne asked.

"I was certain you wanted to fight that thing."

"Master, I'm sure you felt it." Jeanne points out.

"Yes. That's why I had no issues with it." Vergil looks back out in the Scáthach direction.

"That bloodlust of hers. It seems unnatural." Jeanne thought to herself while watching Scáthach confront the gatekeeper.

Gatekeeper Kazakoemaru Oni vs Scáthach Queen of Shadows

Scáthach continued to walk towards the oni.

"Do you take me for a fool?"Kazakoemaru asked.

"What do you mean?" Scáthach asked.

"Not only did you send one person but a woman too." Kazakoemaru had a disappointed expression.

"Hooah, looking down on me because I'm a woman huh?" Scáthach asked.

"Humans are weak and human females are even weaker than their counterparts."

Scáthach had a stern expression.

"Is that so? Let's see if we can fix that attitude of yours." Scáthach summons her spear.

Vergil stood back with his arms crossed while Medusa and Jeanne were by his side.

Kazakoemaru simply smirks and to everyone's surprise the oni charges in with incredible speed for its size. The oni in front of Scáthach with its weapon raised over its head and ready to cut her in half. The Gatekeeper brings its weapon down but Scáthach side steps and delivers a hard slash to its head followed by a kick so hard it causes the oni to let go of his weapon for a moment. The oni regained its composer and attempted to swing at Scáthach.

"Why you!" Gatekeeper shouted at Scáthach.

Kazakoemaru had a glow of magical energy and dashed towards Scáthach with great speed. Mash and Ushiwakamaru were amazed at such a feat.

"That's rather impressive for an oni of his size to move like that. It would be nice if others could move like this one." Ushiwakamaru was amazed.

"Umm.. Ushiwakamaru that would be rather troublesome to have the smaller oni moving like the gatekeeper here." Mash trouble by Ushiwakamaru's statement.

"Now, thinking about it, you're probably right." Ushiwakamaru realized.

Vergil, Medusa, and Jeanne watched Scáthach battle Kazakoemaru.

"It's fast." Jeanne stated.

"Not fast enough to keep up with Lady Scáthach," Medusa added.

Kazakoemaru continues his fight with Scáthach. He appears in front of her ready to strike with its giant ax. Kazakoemaru e swings the ax but Scáthach parries it. He went for a few more swings but the results were the same. Kazakoemaru tries again only this time after Scáthach parries she follows up with a powerful thrust from a second spear. Scáthach leaps forward and delivers a powerful strike followed by two more attacks. Scáthach slowly walks towards Kazakoemaru.

"What's wrong?" Scáthach asked him as slowly walked towards Kazakoemaru.

Kazakoemaru tightened his grip and channeled some magical energy from the gate. He swung his ax and unleashed a magical projectile at Scáthach. Scáthach jumps up into the and summons several red spears and launches them at Kazakoemaru. The spears pierced him in different places. Shoulders, thighs and forearms. Scáthach lands back on the ground.

"You've done something different, however, your last attack was a wasted one. Do you think you possibly defeated me with that level of an attack?" Scáthach points out.

"Is Lady Scáthach lecturing or provoking him?" Mash ask.

"Hmm? Maybe both." Ushiwakamaru answered.

Kazakoemaru gets irritated and launches more magical projectiles at her. Scáthach dashing in and dodging the incoming attacks and lands three thrust on the Gatekeeper. Kazakoemaru used its magical speed to put some distance between him and Scáthach.

"Your speed is all you have going for you. Nothing else worth not noting." Scáthach comment.

Kazakoemaru underestimated Scáthach and that cost him the fight but that didn't mean he was done fighting.

Vergil, Medusa, and Jeanne continue observing Scáthach.

"I'd say this battle is about over." Medusa comment.

"Looks like it's about time to move on." Jeanne added.

Scáthach glowed red a little bit and charged in. Kazakoemaru uses his speed to keep his distance and launches another wave of magical attack. Scáthach elegantly leaps over the attack and throws her spear. Mash watches with amazement.

"So elegant." Mash was amazed.

The red spear ricocheted and hit Kazakoemaru multiple times before it went up into the air. Scáthach appears in the air and catches her spear prepared to deliver the killing blow. Kazakoemaru attempted one last attack but for some reason, he was not able to make a magical attack. Scáthach comes down and delivers a killing blow that pierces the torso and into the heart, killing Kazakoemaru.

Settlement

After Scáthach defeated Kazakoemaru the gate opened up. Vergil and the others meet up with Scáthach and proceed forward.

"Lady Scáthach, what happened towards the end of the fight?" Mash asked.

"It was not special. I simply disrupt that onis connection with the gate. He simply used the gate's power and not his own power." Scáthach explained.

"I see, that would seem like an efficient way to handle an opponent like that." Mash noted.

Scáthach turns towards Vergil.

"Your thoughts Master?" Scáthach asked Vergil.

Medusa and Jeanne look towards Vergil to see what kind of response he would make.

"The opponent was a simpleton and only relied too much on that magical gate which cost him. However, you handled him flawlessly nonetheless." Vergil comment.

"Naturally." Scáthach was pleased with Vergil's response.

"Was she actually looking for praise from Vergil? Seriously?" Jeanne thought to herself.

They came to a settlement but there was hardly any there.

"This place looks nearly deserted." Mash looking around.

Mash saw some people and attempted to talk to them.

"Excuse me." Mash attempts to get their attention and asks them a few questions.

The people saw Mash and everyone else and turned away.

"I don't think we will get much information here. It's best if we move to the next gate." Fuuma points out.

"I agree. I don't think the people will be helpful here." Kintoki agrees.

Ushiwakamaru looked around and couldn't see anything of use. The Chaldean were about to move out after they agreed to move on. Before they left the settlement Scáthach approached Vergil.

"Master, a moment. There is something I need to disclose to you." Scáthach is looking to speak with Vergil in private.

Vergil makes his way over to Scáthach.

"What is it?" Vergil asked.

"Follow me." Scáthach tells Vergil.

Vergil and Scáthach walk behind one of the buildings to have a private conversation about something. Scáthach pointed at his communicator and Vergil turned it off. Scáthach used runes in a small radius so no one could hear their conversation with one of her runes. Vergil and Scáthach can talk freely without worrying about someone listening in on their conversation.

"Alright, now we have some privacy." Scáthach commented.

"Scáthach, what's this about?" Vergil asked. Scáthach faces him.

"I received a clairvoyance before we got here and then another one with a detailed visual once arrived here at the settlement." Scáthach started the conversation.

"What did you see?" Vergil asked.

"A large arena with some people I'm not familiar with. One had long violet hair that was braided, and another had a sword similar to yours but was red. There was also a purple witch as well as another person carrying a large sword. One person looks like the fox girl back at Chaldea, a tall humanoid wearing a mask of some kind and a female with purple hair and a horn."

"Hmm. That certainly a number of people in your clairvoyance. I can't say I know anyone with that sort of description. Interesting. What else did you see?" Vergil processed the news from Scáthach.

"There was a building on fire and you were outside watching it." Scáthach added.

"I don't see much significance for a burning building. Perhaps there is more to that than we know. Anything else?" Vergil asked Scáthach.

Scáthach had a serious look on her face for what came next.

"Director Olga was on the floor, stabbed, with your sword."

Vergil had a serious look on his face.

"What?" Vergil in disbelief.

"Master, do harbor any kind of ill intent for Director Olga?" Scáthach looks her Master in the eyes.

"No. I do not." Vergil answered without hesitation.

"I'm glad to hear. I would have been troubled by this otherwise." Scáthach was relieved.

"Still, this is concerning news." Vergil trouble by Scáthach clairvoyance.

"The circumstances leading up to this are unclear and it was only you two." Scáthach explained.

Vergil continues to process this information but is unable to draw any conclusions with so little information.

"Does anyone else know?" Vergil asked.

"No. This is something I can only disclose with you. I don't know what circumstances led to this but something will happen to the Director and that much is certain." Scáthach replied.

Vergil continues to process this information.

"There is still too little information to make a proper assessment. The only thing I can say is something will happen that will lead to that outcome." Vergil pondered.

"Master?" Scáthach calls out to Vergil.

Vergil looks towards Scáthach.

"The events that you mentioned have not come to pass yet. Correct?" Vergil looks at Scáthach.

"Correct." Scáthach answered.

"There is still too little information to act on however I shall bear in mind what you have disclosed with me." Vergil concluded.

"He can make sound decisions with little information. Heh." Scáthach looking at Vergil.

"What will you do, Master?" Scáthach asked.

"Continue on with solving this singularity. I'll be on the lookout for anything unusual. I trust you won't disclose this to anyone, especially Director Olga."

"Naturally, Master."

Vergil and Scáthach concluded their discussion and met up with everyone else. Once Vergil and Scáthach return, another person is talking with the group. It turned out to be one of Ushiwakamaru retainers Benki. Benki informed them that they could get more information about the island at a teahouse that was past the second gate. Benki also informed them about a checkpoint up ahead and that is the only way to proceed to the next gate.

Near Checkpoint

The Chaldeans stop near the Checkpoint to see if there is any other way to proceed farther. Medusa returned after checking the area out.

"It is Benki stated earlier. The only way to proceed forward is through this checkpoint. The other route proved to be more troublesome and time-consuming." Medusa reports.

"We could just force our way through. What say you Master?" Ushiwakamaru asked Vergil.

"Doing so would most likely draw too much attention if it gets out of hand." Vergil replied.

"I have an idea." Fuuma informes everyone.

Fuuma tells everyone his plan to get through the checkpoint. They agreed to his plan and made their preparations.

"Okay the preparation is complete." Fuuma puts on a disguise and looks like a real oni.

"Wow, it looks flawless." Mash amazed me.

"Impressive." Vergil comment.

"If I didn't know it was you I could have mistaken you for another oni." Jeanne added.

"Thank you, this secret art has been passed down in our clan and has served us well during our missions. Now I'll have to tie everyone up to make this look believable so bear with it for the time being. The plan is to look like a captive being transported to one of the camps beyond the gate." Fuuma explained.

Fuuma proceeds to tie everyone up with some rope and they proceed towards the checkpoint.

Checkpoint

They reached the checkpoint and were quite a bit oni in the area.

"Halt who goes there?" Gatekeeper oni challenges them.

"By order of the Chief Oni, I am to transport these newly captives." Fuuma informes the oni guard.

Fuuma, while disguised, moves forward and talks with the guard.

"Fuuma certainly has the oni character down." Scáthach made note of.

"Perhaps all previous encounters played a part." Vergil added.

"To pick up on such things. Most impressive for a ninja." Scáthach praised Fuuma.

"Indeed. Looks like they have concluded their talk." Vergil noticed.

"Master, conflict in this area would be ill-advised due to the small and narrow space." Medusa noted.

"Worse case will have Jeanne burn them. Make use of this small space." Vergil replied.

"I didn't hear anything about new captives coming in." oni guard stated.

"Yeah, communication is really terrible out here but there is not much we can do out here." Fuuma replied.

"It's whatever. Let's take a look at what we got and send you on your way."

Fuuma, oni guard and two others begin to walk through. The stop by Benki first.

"This one looks like he is really good at labor. He also looks like one of those religious folks. Guess some may need that kind of thing." oni guard examines.

"Ho, ho, you're much too kind." Benki playing along.

They move on to Mash and Fou next.

"Wow, you caught a strange creature there. I wonder what it tastes like?"

"Fou!" Fou didn't take that very well.

"This one looks too soft to work in the labor section. She will most likely serve the humans food or something." oni made note of Mash.

"I'll do my best." Mash replied.

They walk by Ushiwakamaru who is just staring off to the side waiting to pass through the checkpoint.

"Hold on." oni stops.

"What is it ?" Fuuma asked.

"Something about this one just ain't right."

"Crap. This is not good." Fuuma thought to himself.

"She is so small and dressed so shameless. Not sure if she'll make it through the labor camp which requires muscles. She also doesn't look like she knows how to do a woman's work. Who in their right mind goes outside dressed like that? You sure the boss said to bring this one?" oni guard noted.

"Now wait just a moment Mr. oni, I may be a captive but I have something to say about that." Benki stepped in.

"Huh?" oni guard sounds confused.

"What is Benki doing?" Fuuma wonders.

"Master, should I take out the oni?" Medusa asked Vergil.

"Hold on, let's see what happens." Vergil waiting to see the outcome.

"Though she may dress so shamelessly that even an oni can't take their eyes off her. She is actually a seductress!" Benki glanced at the oni.

"Huh?" oni guard sounded confused.

"Yes she is a seductress and a dangerous one at. Don't worry, I will take care of this dangerous seductress.

Benki walks over to Ushiwakamaru.

"Take this you seductress!" Benki shouts.

*Bonk SFX*

Benki hits Ushiwakamaru so hard she was knocked out. Everyone was silent and in shock after what happened. Benki proceeds to drag Ushiwakamaru past the checkpoint.

"Such a weird human female that one." oni guard watches.

Next was Medusa, Jeanne and Scáthach.

"Well what do we have here? This is quite the catch here." oni got a little excited.

"Crap. This may not go well." Fuuma was a bit worried about what might happen.

"Hmm, not sure this one will be able to work in the labor camp since she blind. Maybe we can have her do something else, if you know what I mean." oni guard looks at another oni.

Medusa tightens her fist.

"These two looks also look great for labor and other services." oni guard noted.

"You disgust me. I should burn your sorry ass for speaking to me like that." Jeanne was disgusted and wanted to burn them on the spot.

*Oni laughs* "This one got some fire to her. I like that." oni smirks at Jeanne.

"Jeanne please don't, we're almost through. Please bear with it." Fuuma thought to himself.

"This one also looks like she will do well." oni noted. oni attempts to touch Scáthach.

"Touch me and that will be the last thing that hand touches." Scáthach stared down the oni guard.

"We got another fiery one, boys." oni guard turns towards the other oni.

The other oni began to sneer at Medusa, Jeanne and Scáthach.

"You forgot, that you're our captives and we can do whatever we want." oni guard smirks at Scáthach.

Scáthach was staring dagger at the oni. A few other onis approach Medusa and Jeanne and were to put their hands on them.

"Oh, crap this is really bad. So I shoot the signal now?" Fuuma concerns the plan is about to fail.

Just as the oni were about to lay hands on Medusa, Jeanne and Scáthach, a line of Summoning Swords dropped in front of them and cut their forearms.

"What the hell! Are we under attack?" The oni looked around to see where the swords came from.

Medusa, Jeanne and Scáthach look at the Summoning Swords in front of them. They also saw the oni in a state of fear that they were shaking .

"Who is that? Whose there?" oni guard was scared for his life.

Medusa, Jeanne and Scáthach notice a small blue demonic aura around Vergil. He had his eyes closed for a moment. The moment a brief image of his Sin Devil Triggered flashed in the aura.

"Let them through! Hurry up!" oni waved them through.

Everyone passed through the checkpoint. The onis trembled in fear as Vergil slowly walked past them. Kintoki met up with everyone else.

"You could have just let me burn them all." Jeanne tells Vergil.

"I'm aware of that. A different approach was necessary at that time." Vergil tells Jeanne.

"Still to think they wise up and just let us pass. Guess they are not completely brainless."

Second Gatekeeper, Blue Gate

Upon reaching the next gate, the oni was blue this time. He also had a few other large oni with him.

"You manage to get past the first gate. Don't think this gate will be as simple." Wazahamimaru smirks.

"I wonder what special trait this one will have?" Mash wonder.

"I wonder if each gatekeeper will have their own special trait?" Medusa also wondered.

"Master." Scáthach approaches Vergil. Vergil turns in her direction.

"You want another fight? I didn't expect you to be so eager." Vergil surprise.

"Actually I had something else in mind." Scáthach had a little smile.

"Hoh, what might that be?" Vergil asked.

"If it's not too much to ask, I'd like to gauge Masters's strength a bit more." Scáthach answered.

"Are you thinking of trying to train him while we're solving a Singularity? Seriously, what's with you?" Jeanne in disbelief that Scáthach wants to train Vergil.

"It can't be helped that a Singularity came up during our time. It's only fair to make a compromise. Don't you agree?" Scáthach looking at Vergil.

"Hey, Mash?" Ushiwakamaru waves over to Mash.

"Yes?" Mash answered.

"I know Kintoki asked about this earlier but what is true about Master being a powerful warrior of some kind?" Ushiwakamaru asked.

"A powerful warrior? I'd say he most certainly is one." Mash answered.

"I wonder what kind of warrior he is in battle?" Ushiwakamaru looked at Vergil who was still talking with Scáthach and Jeanne.

"What say you, Master? Will you allow your teacher to further gauge your strength?" Scáthach asked with a small smile.

"Didn't you get access before?" Vergil asked.

"A student should happily be able to show their teacher what they are capable of." Scáthach points

"She is up to something." Jeanne suspects something insane from Scáthach.

"Very well. I can't say they will last long." Vergil answered.

"I like your answer, Master. " Scáthach was pleased with Vergil's answer while giving a small smile.

"So who is he going to test his strength on?" Jeanne asked Scáthach.

Scáthach points at the onis.

"You'll have to make do with what we have here." Scáthach stated.

"Are you sure that's a good idea? Kintoki is a bit concerned.

"This oni is smaller than that demon we faced at the end of the last Singularity and it was powered by a Holy Grail. We did manage to bring down that tough demon in the end. Although I'm also curious about just how strong he is." Jeanne thought to herself.

Medusa walks up next to Vergil.

"I'm also curious just how strong Master is." Medusa was curious to see what would come of Scáthach's little training session.

"My Lord, this Ushi is also curious." Ushiwakamaru getting excited.

Vergil walks over to the Gatekeeper

"Are you ready to feel excruciating pain, human?" The Wazahamimaru asks.

"Heh. Not in this lifetime. Or the next." Vergil points out.

"Huh?" Wazahamimaru sounded confused.

"As the air to a bird or the fish to sea, so is contempt to the contemptible." Vergil activates Beowulf and takes his stance.

Medusa let out a small giggle after hearing Vergil.

"Ara, Ara, that was most unexpected." Medusa's surprise.

"Was that poetry?" Jeanne asked.

"I believe it is was." Medusa covered her small smile.

Jeanne looks at Medusa and then at Vergil. Scáthach had a hand on her hip as she watched Vergil prepare to engage the second Gatekeeper.

Gatekeeper Wazahamimaru vs Vergil

*Fire Away cue DMC2*

The smaller oni ran towards Vergil and while Wazahamimaru gave orders from a distance.

"Hoh? A coordinated attack huh?" Vergil slightly curious.

"Show me your motivation." Vergil taunts them.

The first oni goes for a vertical strike aimed for Vergil head. Verfil causally steps back and dodges followed by hitting the oni in the gut with the hilt of his sword. Another oni aims to hit Vergil from behind he side steps and knock that oni off his feet using his sheath sword. Another came in for a vertical strike but Vergil grabbed its wrist and swept it off its feet. One more oni approaches but Vergil smacks it away while holding his sword.

*Crazy*

"Are you even trying?" Vergil pushes his hair back. The

Wazahamimaru came rushing at Vergil and swung its stone club (statue of kind). Vergil ducks under the swing attack then kicks off Wazahamimaruinto the air and follows up with a slash attack. (Extreme Counter DMC POC)

Wazahamimaru stumbled back and leaped backward to let the smaller oni engage Vergil again.

"Wow, they couldn't even land a hit on Master." Ushiwakamaru was amazed with the sparkles in her eyes.

The other oni were back on their feet and came at Vergil. The first oni swings his club.

*Clang*

"Pointless."

Vergil parries the attack which leaves the oni wide open to attack.

*Trick Up Boss version SFX*

Vergil up in the air and preparing his next attack.

Trick Down Boss version SFX*

Vergil comes down with a thunderous cleave cutting the oni (Ariel Cleave). Vergil followed up with two more smacks and another strike that sent the oni flying backward. (Yamato Combo B) The oni flies back and the another comes running in with two more following behind it. The oni swings its club.

*Clang*

Vergil smacks the oni and delivers a barrage off slashes and finished with a powerful strike the oni flying back into the other two oni behind it.(Yamato Combo C)

PJC x 3 SFX*

"Fall Scum!"

While Vergil hits his Judgment Cut, a Doppelganger appears and launches a Judgment Cut at the oni followed by a second Doppelganger appearing and launching the third Judgement Cut. The onis were cut down and didn't get back up leaving only the Gatekeeper. Vergil accumulated more demonic power. (Accumulated complete sound)

Waiting Near the Gate

"Wow, Master is cool." Ushiwakamaru has sparkly eyes.

"Woah Boss. Quite the warrior doesn't do it justice." Kintoki fixing his sunglasses.

"Hmm?" Medusa observed.

"What is it?" Jeanne asked.

"Master made some changes to his technique." Medusa noted.

"Speaking of it, it does look a little different from the last time I saw it." Jeanne also noticed.

"Hmm, I'm curious about that one." Scáthach made a note .

Blue Gate

Wazahamimaru leaps in ready to smash Vergil with a giant statue club. Vergil partially draws his sword and with a well time attack cuts the area in front of him where the Gatekeeper landed and was stuck in a slow-motion state

*Void Slash SFX*

Vergil sheaths his sword.

"Exhilarating."

Vergil switched to Beowulf.

Wazahamimaru comes to Vergil with his attack. Vergil backflips while disrupting the attack and follows up with a dive kick to the ground. (Starfall)

The Gatekeeper drops his weapon and pops his knuckles.

"I will crush you like a bug." Wazahamimaru declares.

"Come on." Vergil taunts Wazahamimaru.

"Oh yeah, bear knuckle." Kintoki getting hyped up.

Scáthach watched closely, not wanting to miss anything.

Wazahamimaru cocks his fist back and delivers a punch, Vergil backflips and Wazahamimaru's punch shakes the area. Vergil appears under the Gatekeeper and delivers an uppercut right one chin. He holds his face from that last attack.

"I think he felt that one." Jeanne smirks.

Vergil delivered two explosive punches followed by a kick. (BeoWulf Combo A Charged). Wazahamimaru leaps backward and grabs a piece of the ground and hurls it at Vergil. Vergil's gauntlet lights up and he blasts the rock. Wazahamimaru used the moment to close the distance on Vergil. He raised his fists in the air and slammed it down to smash Vergil. Wazahamimaru saw no one there. He looks up only to see Vergil Hammer Fist his head to the ground. The Gatekeeper attempted to swat Vergil away but missed. Vergil dashes back and delivers two punches toWazahamimaru's head, Vergil standing on leg and the other cock back. A destructive barrage of kicks followed by a Straight Punch (Beowulf Combo B Charge 2) Gatekeeper was knocked back up to its feet only for it to stagger.

"Looks like this fight is about over." Medusa points out.

"It most certainly is." Jeanne added.

Vergil appears in front and kicks him so hard the Gatekeeper goes airborne. Vergil Air Tricks and delivers a few more kicks in the air. At the same time BeoWulf starts glowing.

"Something is happening up there." Scáthach points out.

The Gatekeeper was sent crashing down. He looks up and sees a light in the air. He sees Vergil about delivering his next attack.

"Rest in Peace." Vergil's fist cock back.

Vergil came down and an explosion went off and dust and debris went everywhere. (Hell on Earth)

*Sick Skill*

Once the dust settled Vergil was the only one left standing. Everyone met Vergil in the middle.

"Master, that was so cool!" Ushiwakamaru was excited after watching her Master fight.

"How was it?" Vergil asked Scáthach.

Scáthach eyes closed and arms crossed.

"Since you have a grasp on things I need to make some adjustments." Scáthach stated as she walked past Vergil.

"I think she just wanted to watch Master fight." Jeanne points out.

"I see no issues with that." Medusa added.

Fuuma stares at Vergil with disbelief.

"What destructive power this Master possesses. Those oni stood no chance." Fuuma thought to himself.

"Boss! That was so cool! Especially when you went bare knuckle with that oni!" Kintoki was excited watching Vergil fight.

Shortly after the gate opened and the way was clear of obstacles.

"The Gatekeeper is defeated and we can proceed forward." Mash announced.

"Master, you'll have to show me how to pull off that technique of yours." Medusa comments while walking up to Vergil.

"Ha?" Jeanne in disbelief Medusa would say such nonsense.

"Oh, Master would you do that? I would like to learn that as well." Scáthach added.

"Umm, I don't think it would be a good idea to use that inside Chaldea." Mash advises against the idea.

"We should get moving to the next area." Vergil points out.

"Yes, Master."

"As for your request, I'll take it into consideration in the future." Vergil added.

"Hey, if you're gonna teach them, you're gonna have to teach me too!" Jeanne not trying to be left out.

"Well, she certainly seems motivated, Master." Medusa points out.

"Indeed." Vergil replied.

The Chaldean proceeded through the gate and to the next area.

Unknown Area, Inside a Forest

Somewhere in an unknown forest, a battle for survival was going on. A pack of demons were running towards two women inside a forest. One woman was wearing a purple and white dress with open slits at the sides and gold embroidery, along with black gloves with pale purple trim and a large purple witch's hat, black lace stockings, and black high heels. The other woman has choppy, unevenly cut light blue hair and wears a black headband and a four-pointed silver, white, and blue hairpin. The witch uses her sorcery to fight off the wave of demons. The demons continued to come towards their prey. The witch raised her hand. A purple energy gathered in her hand. The sky was getting dark and thunder and lighting was rumbling.

"You've been a nottie bunch of boys."

Lighting strikes all the demons in the area. More demons appeared in front of the purple witch and she blasted them too. She continues to protect her injured comrade who is unable to fight. The witch continues blasting the demons until she was shot in the shoulder by a strange-looking demon called Enigma. The demons were closing in on the two women.

Enigma

A demon that has a multiple arms and multiple legs

"They just keep coming. I wish darling was here right about now but unfortunately we got separated." Purple witch stated as she looked at her injured friend.

A loud whistle noise was suddenly blown followed by a short pause and was blown again. The Enigma was looking for the source of the sound. The same time a flash went off in the distance behind the demon without it noticing. The purple witch looked around and didn't see anyone in the area other than the demons. While she was looking around, the corpse of the Enigma demon fell to the ground with a large hole where the eye was located.

"Something shot at this creature without it knowing." Purple Witch observes.

The same time, a large four legged beast was running towards the pack of demons. The beast was also leaping through the shadows without losing speed. The demons not seeing anything turned their attention back to the ladies. The demon raised its scythe but was suddenly pulled into its shadow. The demons looked around and charged towards the ladies. Suddenly, the witch's shadow got bigger and a large black demonic wolf popped out of her shadow and bit the demon's neck, crushing it and throwing the corpse into a tree black wolf flared its teeth at everyone on site. The witch didn't move a muscle.

Ch 9 Preview

Teahouse

Vergil was in disbelief that Musashi turned out to be real. Musashi had a near tear eyes expression. She was about to call out to him before he turned his head for a second. This made her slightly upset.

"Hey Ver-" Musashi was about to call out to Vergil.

*Air Trick SFX (boss version)*

"Great Buddha!" Musashi in shock.

"Come with me." Vergil drags Musashi off.

"Eh?" Musashi is not sure what's going on.

Vergil and Musashi head to the back of the teahouse.

Behind Teahouse

"You're real and really here?" Vergil surprise.

"Of course I'm real, what's gotten into you?" Musashi asked while tilting her head to the side.

Teahouse

"Hey Shunten, is this the guy you were talking about? He dont so special to me."?

"Well your welcome to find yourself although I would advise against that." Shuten replied.

"Kintoki are you rebelling against your mother?" ?

"No its not like that." Kintoki replied.

Third Gate

"You're just a tall, lengthy woman with no womanly charm that follows Master around!" Kiyohime points at Medusa.

*Glass shatter SFX*

"Master, if you don't mind, I'd like her to reflect on her poor choice of words." Medusa stated while staying calm but had a serious hostile aura around her.

It was at that moment, Kiyohime knew she fucked up.

Mountain Summit

"You fight well, child. It's a shame you are not one of her children." ?

Chaldea

"I know you just came back but this Singularity has had us on edge." Olga explained to Vergil.

End Ch 9 Preview

Its been too long since I put I chapter out. Things got busy with life and stuff. So to compromise I wrote a large chapter to make up for it. Wanted to touch up on some things with Olga and her struggles. Now what is this unpleast future with Olga and Vergil? Who is the woman in armor. Im sure its obvious who it is. And who are those ladies being attack in the forest by demons? Im sure some know and well be seeing them very soon.
