It was the final day of the school year before summer break would start. Bertha was at her locker, getting all of her things. She had gotten her report card, and the worst grade she got in any of her subjects was a 75%. The subject in question happened to be Canadian history. Bertha wasn't ashamed to admit that it probably had to do with the fact that she wasn't putting her full attention into it, because she was fantasizing about marrying Junior. Several months after the alien incident, Junior was still in the hospital. Tomorrow, he would finally be released, just in time for summer break. Bertha visited Junior in the hospital every day, and the two gradually got to know each other more. By the team Easter rolled around, they were proud to finally call themselves boyfriend and girlfriend. They haven't gone on an official date yet, and the two had yet to kiss each other on the lips.
When Bertha got home, she was by herself, as her parents were still at work. She wrote down where she would be on a piece of paper, and taped that paper to the fridge. She then stepped outside her house, locked her door, put on a helmet, and took off on a bicycle.
A few minutes later, she was looking through the bargain bin in a grocery store. She was able to find what she was looking for, it was a DVD of The last American hero. Junior was a massive fan of racing, so Bertha thought she'd get him a racing movie as a present, to celebrate him finally getting discharged.
As she was riding home, she suddenly found herself having to swerve when a Pontiac almost hit her. The Pontiac driver then slammed on the brakes as it came to a red light. Bertha pulled up beside the driver and stopped. She pointed her middle finger at the driver and shouted, "Quit driving in the bike lane jackass."
When she got back to her house, she telephoned the sheriff's office and told them the license plate numbers she saw on the back of the car. There was no way she was going to let that son of a bitch get away with nearly running her over.
The next morning, as she was sitting on her couch, she saw that the Pontiac was on the news, with a parking boot on it. It turned out that the Pontiac she called the cops on had a suffocating 85 year old war veteran tied up in the trunk. "Jesus Christ, I had no idea I just saved someone's life" said Bertha. She then got a phone call from the sheriff's office. "Ma'am, are you aware of the fact that the guy we just arrested, is wanted for murder in twenty five countries?" asked the caller. "Are you aware of the fact that there was a 30 million dollar reward for the person responsible for catching him?" Bertha could not believe what she just heard. "Holy shit" she said.
Authors note: If something like this happens to you in real life, it is essential that you memorize what it says on the license place. The police need all of the evidence they can get.
Sometimes, in order to get lucky, you have to be in the right place at the right time.
Thank you for reading and please have a great day.
