Star Wars – Chimera: Prologue

21 BBY

The Senate Building on Coruscant, afternoon

Anakin realized he could not disarm the bomb nor cut through the floor in time. He had to try. He had to save the senators. More importantly, he had to save Padme. He would try cutting through the floor. His lightsaber was halfway finished its job when with a defeating roar everything went black.

Nearby

Palpatine felt his prize slipping away. Anakin Skywalker was in terrible danger. He could not allow Anakin to perish here today. He would not allow Anakin to perish here today!

Without warning via the Force or otherwise, the ceiling above Sheev Palpatine's head caved in. The secret Sith Lord found himself buried beneath hundreds of tons of debris. His attempt to raise a force shield failed. Blackness took him.

Sometime Later

Slowly agonizingly Palpatine regained consciousness. He tried to stand without success. A glance with his remaining left eye revealed why he could not move. His body was crushed beneath a large pillar. His injuries were grave far beyond his force ability to heal. He silently cursed at the fact he like most Sith was inept with the healing arts.

'Drastic times call for drastic measures.' Palpatine thought. His rapidly dying body beyond his ability to save he was left with one alternative essence transfer. Through the Force, he reached out searching for a suitable vessel. 'Found you,' Palpatine thought with a smirk a few moments later.

He sensed the unconscious but otherwise not seriously injured Padme Amidala. Other than a few broken ribs and a broken right arm her body was in excellent condition. If he possessed Padme he could easily assure Anakin's loyalty to him or rather her and her alone. The only glaring drawback to possessing Padme was her lack of force sensitivity, luckily Palpatine knew of a solution.

Palpatine's long-deceased master Darth Plagueis taught him how to jumpstart Midi-chlorian replication in a subject. Palpatine never shared this knowledge with that fool Dooku which was why Dooku used a blood transfusion on General Grievous. Naturally, the blood transfusion failed to grant the cyborg monstrosity any level of force sensitivity.

Emptying his mind of all other concerns, Palpatine concentrated on the task or rather the tasks at hand. Essence transfer was difficult enough by itself without the added complication of jumpstarting a vessel's Midi-chlorian replication. This would require all of his skills as a Sith Lord.

Medical Facility one day later, night

"Padme, thank the Force you're awake!" Anakin said hugging Padme. He held her tight. "I thought I lost you forever."

"There, there, it's alright. I'm fine." Padme said rubbing his back gently with her unbroken left hand.

Palpatine in Padme's body winched in pain. The oaf's grip was hurting her injured ribs. She wanted to yell at him to let her go but she could not. She felt odd. Her mind was fuzzy. Maybe something went wrong during the transfer? No, while she had encountered some resistance she quickly overcame it.

"You're not fine," Anakin said feeling Padme stiffen in his embrace.

"I, I'm tired and thirsty," Palpatine said. "Can you please get me something to drink?" Where did that come from? Palpatine did not usually go out of her way to be polite when there was no need.

"Right away," Anakin said. He returned a few minutes later holding a juice bottle with a built-in bending straw.

"Thanks," Palpatine said. While she drank Anakin spoke.

"The Chancellor is dead," Anakin said.

"Oh, Ani how horrible. I know you and Palpatine were close." Palpatine said.

"He was like the father I never had. I lost my mother and now I've lost him." Anakin said. He sat down in a chair next to Palpatine's bed his head in his hands.

"You still have me," Palpatine said smiling with Padme's face.

"I don't know what I'd do if I lost you," Anakin said giving her a weak smile in return. "I'd die. I'd want to die."

"Don't ever say that again don't ever think that," Palpatine said surprising herself. "You are a great Jedi and a great person. You have a lot to offer the galaxy." Where did that come from? "I'm tired." She said setting her drink aside on a small table.

"I'll let you rest," Anakin said. "I love you."

"I love you too," Palpatine said again surprising herself. In another surprise, she added. "Promise me you won't do anything until I'm well. I know you'll want to avenge Palpatine. Promise me Anakin."

Anakin hesitantly spoke after several tense moments. "I promise, I won't leave the planet until you're well."

"Thank you," Palpatine said closing her eyes. It was not long before she fell into a deep yet troubled sleep full of confusing imagery.

Special Note – So, what is going on? Not only did Palpatine perform an essence transfer on a not-quite-dead subject but he also meddled with her M count. Where does Palpatine end and what remains of Padme begin? And how will Palpatine go about enacting the Sith Master Plan without control of the Republic? Will Dooku, Grievous, Ventress & co. still, follow her orders? How will the fate of our heroes and the galaxy change? Find out in upcoming exciting chapters of Star Wars Chimera!

To Be Continued

Author's Note – This story was inspired by a YouTube video. The video theorized that Palpatine is the greatest Sith Lord because he is a sociopath. So, I wondered what would happen if Palpatine gained a body with a normal brain capable of positive emotions.

Another inspiration for this story is Goku Black from Dragon Ball Super. When the renegade Kai Zamasu stole Goku's body he essentially became a different unique individual from Zamasu. Impulses (along with some trace memories it is hinted) from Goku's body such as a desire to fight strong foes to in turn get stronger bled into Zamasu's mind altering his personality over time.
