In Chapter 27, verses 52 and 53 of his Gospel, Matthew offers us a tantalizing glimpse of peripheral crucifixion and resurrection events that aren't corroborated by any of the other gospels, nor are they referenced by any of the other New Testament writers. Scholars and theologians aren't sure what to do with the passage. This story is one possibility. But don't take it as gospel.

This is based upon the parable of the Good Samaritan. It is 1944. When Lilla, a Hungarian Jew, and her family are arrested and shipped off to Auschwitz she believes things couldn't possibly get any worse. Yet, when she performs an act of kindness for the last man on Earth she thought she would, SS officer Rupert Heim, the two of them slowly discover the transforming power of love.
