I am Aurora.
I am the only daughter of King Tapani and Queen Lea, who rule the kingdom of Kultajärvi in Northern Europe.
My kingdom is a land of a thousand lakes and forests. The forests are enchanted with magic and fairies, and quite often, natural miracles happen here. During summer, the sun shines all the way into midnight, while during other seasons, the beautiful Northern Lights would often appear in the night sky, along with the stars. I am named after the surreal phenomenon that constantly blesses our land.
It is not uncommon for other members of the royalty to go out into the forest and relax. However, the reason why I am living in a forest, actually leads back to a grim backstory.
Not long after I was born, I was cursed by an evil fairy from the land of Äjänevi, named Maleficent. She cursed me that I shall eventually die at the sunset before my sixteenth birthday. My parents were shocked, and to ensure my safety, I was sent into a remote part of the vast forests of my land, where Maleficent cannot find me. I am dressed like a forest commoner, and was told to keep my identity as Princess of Kultajärvi as a secret, especially against those who are agents of Maleficent.
During the years in the forest, I was raised by a group of three fairies by the name of Flora, Fauna and Merriweather. I was able to use magic to a certain extent, and inside my wooden house, I have a library of books to read. These books teach me about the history of the world and different cultures, the ways of the nature, and how I can use spells. I knew about my fate in one of the books in a bookshelf.
The fairies was able to lift my curse to a small extent, such that instead of dying, I would be put to an eternal sleep when the time comes, and only an act of true love shall awaken me.
Years have passed, and now, there are only a few weeks left until my sixteenth birthday. Knowing that I would soon fall to the curse, I enjoyed and cherished every moment of my life as if there is no tomorrow. After all, you only live once.
It was a day of the full moon, and when I was having a walk around the lake like I did in the usual days, I could see someone laying down by the shore.
I walked closer, and discovered that he is wearing a beautifully shining suit of white and gold. His hair is golden, in a shade brighter than mine, and he is wearing silver hairpins and golden moon crescent earrings that shines brilliantly under the sunlight.
Out of my curiousity, I asked, "Who are you?"
I walked closer and saw him getting up and looking around. Then he seemed to regard me, as if he is admiring me. He has a petit figure and looks quite young, perhaps a year or two. It seems, that I have stumbled upon a cute boy.
He blushed, introducing himself. "I... I'm Prince Serenity. I come from the Moon."
"A Prince? From the Moon?!"
I asked elatedly. Never in my life have I ever met a prince, or any being from the Moon, let alone a Prince from the Moon!
He might be a bit shy when he introduced himself, but I can assure, he's so cute! I can see in his crystal-clear blue eyes, that he is a good boy. I noticed the golden crescent moon on his forehead, and my magical instincts tell me that he is genuine Lunarian royalty!
"Yes." He then pointed at the bright blue sky, "I come from the Moon, up there in the sky. I am the son of Selene, the reigning queen of the Moon."
Selene? I remembered that I have heard of this name some time ago. If I remembered correctly, it was said that Selene is considered the goddess of the Moon. Did the goddess of the Moon just bless me with her son upon a full moon?
"You're really cute, Serenity. Do you want to come with me and have a guided tour around the forest?"
He happily answered, "Yes, it would be great!"
The prince then asked in a more curious tone, "But... what is your name, if I may ask?"
I confidently smiled and gave him my name. "Just call me Aurora."
He looked at me in a very adorable way. Could it be, that he is in love with me?
I then took his hand, and guided him through the forest. "On the way, we are going to know a lot about each other, while we gaze upon the scenic landscape of this enchanted forest!"
