With the passing of time, we get nearer to Nehelenia's time of revenge as Princess Mars's premonitions of the usurper's attack became clearer and clearer, and in turn, we have figured out even more about the illegitimate pretender's potential offensive.
In the common room, Mars informed us of her updated premonition. "Nehelenia will be conducting this offensive alone. In other words, she would not be arriving with any army of her own, just like how she cursed our brother with the power of just both of her hands fourteen years ago. Although she acts on her own, she is just as dangerous as she is back then, but perhaps even more powerful now."
"It sounds logical," said Princess Mercury, as she responded to her sister's predictions.
"I sense that usurping our Mother's throne and subjugating our citizens is her main objective, and therefore, harming citizens directly would do her no good. If she brings with her a legion of her own, she would raise suspicion immediately and fail her own mission. The Nehelenia we know is more cunning than that."
Princess Jupiter asked, "that means she is going to directly target the Moon Palace, right?"
"That is very likely," Mars affirmed, before adding, "though we may have a hard time to identify her outside the palace grounds. In order to succeed with her plan, she is very likely to disguise as someone unidentifiable until she trespasses into the palace area. Then she will show herself to who she wants to show herself to: the Royal Family of the Moon Kingdom, that is us."
Princess Venus then raised a question to her black-haired sister. "In other words, is there no way for us to track Nehelenia's whereabouts until she trespasses our palace to achieve her goals?"
Mars responded, "No, there isn't. The only people she is after, are our Mother and the six of us. If she wants to fulfill her curse of our brother never ascending the throne alive, she will have to trespass into the palace. As soon as the alarm sounds, we shall confront her and put a stop to her plan immediately."
I then said, "we will keep a watch on her."
46 hours have passed since Mars's first warning about Nehelenia's return, and it is now early morning at the Moon Palace. Usually, we would still be asleep during this time, but Nehelenia's looming threat had us awaken early. We gathered in the common room, and observed various intelligence and analysis regarding Nehelenia's offensive.
Meanwhile, Nehelenia, the usurper who cursed Prince Serenity fourteen years ago, has returned to the capital of the Moon Kingdom. Disguised as an ordinary cloaked Lunarian woman with sunglasses, she traversed the silent and sleeping streets of the city, finding her way to the Moon Palace.
She stared at the Palace Building from afar, and thought,
After all those years, I shall have my revenge! That woman, Selene, will regret having sealed me!
Having reached the gates of the palace grounds, which are not yet open at such an early time in the morning, she took off her cloak and sunglasses, revealing her signature wavy black hair and narrow and cold silver eyes.
Just as Mars predicted, she is seemingly alone, without an army. And yet, she effortlessly took out the palace guards who attempted to stop her, by pushing them far away backwards, knocking them unconscious.
With a seductively dangerous and deep voice, she proclaimed, "Those guards can kiss their castle goodbye."
She then blasted away the castle gates, forcing her way into the palace grounds.
In the common room, a loud alarm has been triggered due to the intrusion, catching everyone's attention. Anyone would have panicked, but not us.
Serenity and his sisters, as well as I, Princess Aurora, knew that it was Nehelenia's breach of the palace gates that triggered the alarm. Without any second thoughts, the sisters immediately transformed into the Sailor Guardians.
Holding up her transformation pen, Princess Mercury yelled, "Mercury Power!"
Mars followed, also chanting her transformation phrase, "Mars Power!"
Jupiter also started her transformation, shouting, "Jupiter Power!"
And at last, Venus spoke out her transformation phrase, "Venus Power!"
"Make Up!"
Within a flash, they become the Sailor Guardians of love and justice, all wearing Sailor-collared uniforms and vibrantly-colored skirts. They are ready to punish Nehelenia in the name of the Moon!
Seeing them all transformed, I also equipped my sword immediately, and transformed into my battle attire, joining them to stop Nehelenia from harming my beloved prince.
Together with our hands tightly joined, we made a high leap from the top floor of the Sailor Guardians' Tower, and glided above the mid-air over the flower garden.
As we descended gradually, we landed just in time on the Garden Boulevard, blocking Nehelenia's way.
It was when, the true face of Nehelenia appeared to me for the first time. She may look very beautiful on the surface and with her fine and meticulously-decorated dress, but for whatever reason, the kind of beauty that she possesses, feels threatening and unsettling to me. It is as if a wind colder than the occasional winter blizzards of Kultajärvi has blown through my heart.
The Sailor Guardians don't feel easy, seeing her face after all those years. I can tell, that Sailor Mars is holding a grudge against the one who claims to be Queen and intends to usurp Selene's throne.
With much sense of foreboding channeled into her voice, Mars said, "Nehelenia… We finally meet again."
Nehelenia laughed, ridiculing the Sailor Guardians. "Look how grown you all have become, after all those years... Surely you all look like ladies of the finest quality now, just as I expected. So beautiful, and so elegant..."
I could sense that even though her words seemed to compliment the Sailor Guardians from a purely semantic perspective, her belittling tone and her flamboyant body language tells me, that she only wanted to mock the Sailor Guardians.
She then stared at me in my bright green battle outfit, seemingly noticing that I was not one of the Inner Sailor Guardians she crossed paths with fourteen years ago. "And who is this new, sword-wielding, beauty in a skirt as green as the fresh grass of spring?"
I feel quite uncomfortable with Nehelenia's stare. It is as if she is regarding me as a pathetic wench who delude herself into thinking that she can defeat the "queen". Even though every word from her appeared to compliment me, my beauty and my bravery, I sensed sarcasm and fakeness from her demeaning voice. Her sinister, silver eyes attempted to pierce through my soul, with her deadly glare.
And yet, I have never feared presenting who I am, and what I fight for, no matter which enemy is in front of me. Nehelenia, Maleficent... the difference means nothing, when my sole objective is to prevent the evil from causing more harm to the world.
Standing proudly on the marble boulevard, I proclaimed,
"I am Princess Aurora from planet Earth. Prince Serenity told me how you cursed him to eventual death, when he was still an infant. What you have done is unforgivable, and you will never get away with this!"
Condescendingly, Nehelenia shifted her fingers while ridiculing me. Her face might be drastically different from Maleficent's, and they might not wear exactly the same gown, but Nehelenia's demeanor and way of speech surely reminds me of that evil fairy.
"Ah, so that spoiled little brat has got himself a girlfriend, huh? I didn't expect him to be such a naughty boy! Flirting with the big ladies from Earth... while he's just fourteen."
She then stared at me, focusing her gaze on my face. "Your hair is as golden as the shine of Sun, and your lips shame all the pink roses of the world. Wherever you go, springtime always follow you. And I assume, your singing tune must be adored by all the nightingales of the world as well, you can bring any suitor's serenade to your door."
With her tone turning disappointed, she said, "I thought a princess as beautiful and as graceful as you wouldn't choose such a 'prince' who is younger and way shorter than you, and most importantly, immature... But I was wrong."
The way she spoke of Serenity and his love towards me has unquestionably sparked flames of rage inside my mind. My eyes are now burning, with an immense determination to cut this illegitimate "queen" down.
I pulled out my sword from its emerald-colored scabbard, producing a clear and shiny sound and creating a shadow reminiscent of the Northern Lights and adorned with green sparkles, proclaiming, "How dare you! You have not only caused so much suffering in Serenity's life, but also in the lives of his sisters, his mother, and all the citizens of the Moon Kingdom. Now is the time to end this curse for once and for all, right here, right now!"
Nehelenia made a come-hither sign. "Well then, come challenge me if you dare, princess. You should know, that your little 'prince' isn't exactly from the Moon either. That pathetic boy should be educated properly about real Lunarian history, instead of claiming that I am a threat to the whole Moon."
I wanted to retort her, but no. When the situation is dangerous and threatening, replying to this kind of trash talk is only a waste of time. In fact, it buys her time and makes time an ally of her evil schemes.
With a shadow reminiscent of the Northern Lights that glow over the night skies of Earth, my sword, shining bright under the light of my planet, is ready to defeat her.
Nehelenia then launched a wave of evil energy.
"Behold my true power and despair!"
Immediately, the Sailor Guardians then reached all hands forward, and both Sailor Venus and I held our swords upwards with both hands each, and crossed our swords, forming a barrier to resist the wave. The wave of evil energy is strong, and can knock anyone out if they let down their guard. We were fortunate that we reacted quick.
Nehelenia laughed and cackled, as the dark wave kept ravaging towards us. Seconds passed by, and yet, we resisted with our full power. The junction between Nehelenia's darkness and the light of our swords formed a shield, separating us from her.
The wave lasted for dozens of seconds, and Nehelenia struggled to draw out more energy as she continues to ambush us. She groaned in rage, attempting to overpower the barrier of our swords.
But we kept on resisting, even if it means we would have to exhaust much of our strength, knowing that if we do not hold on, the only choice left for us, is to be defeated. Eventually, Nehelenia ran out of energy. With a sigh, she put down her hands in fatigue, apparently needing a recharge.
Conversely, despite having to hold out for that long, we were not very exhausted when she ceased the attack, still having much energy left as a team to launch a counter-attack on her.
Sailor Mars then held her hands together, with fingers from both hands pointing at Nehelenia.
"Fire..."
Fire started to concentrate on her fingertips.
"Soul!"
Sailor Mars sent a cyclone of fire towards the evil witch.
However, to our surprise, she managed to dodge the fire attack with little effort, and deflected it towards the sky. She seemed to have re-energized within that short span of time.
Nehelenia cackled, completely throwing away her 'elegant' façade she used before engaging us. "Useless! Literally useless! Don't you think you can protect your pathetic brother, because today shall be the day when the Moon Kingdom falls!"
Jupiter reacted quickly to Nehelenia's taunt, and volunteered to attack. "Let me try instead!"
"Supreme..."
An antenna emerges from her tiara, as it gathers thunder and lightning of the highest voltage and tension.
"... Thunder!"
As she shouted the name of her attack, a powerful sphere of green and sparking lightning was sent forth from her hands, raging towards the evil witch who claims to be queen.
However, through extending her hands and creating a dark portal, Nehelenia absorbed the damage of the lightning sphere with ease.
Being a bit disappointed by the failure of the two attacks, Sailor Mercury activated her visor, in an attempt to analyze Nehelenia's weaknesses. She seemed to find out that in order to overwhelm Nehelenia, a magical attack that is strong enough is required. And that means, the attack of just one Sailor Guardian is insufficient to deal any significant damage to her.
"It appeared, that the power of just one attack isn't enough to overwhelm Nehelenia."
She then called out to the other Guardians, "I think we have to attack together."
Venus replied with great determination, "Let's do it!"
With much confidence, Mars shouted, "One More Time!"
Holding her hands together again, Mars chanted, "Fire... Soul!"
Jupiter crossed her arms again, getting ready for yet a more powerful attack. As the antenna inside her tiara emerges again, she said the name of her attack out loud, "Supreme Thunder!"
Mercury then summoned a bubble in front of her, and multiplied it in exponential numbers, sending them forward in a simple command: "Bubble Spray!"
And at last, Venus pointed her finger upwards at Nehelenia, summoning a sharp ray of golden light from her fingertips and blasting it straight ahead, as she chanted, "Crescent Beam!"
The four Sailor Guardians combined their regular attacks, and charged them towards the enemy. A shining and electrified light ray, surrounded by spirals of fire and a cyclone of bubbles pursues Nehelenia.
Nehelenia rapidly dodged the combined attack by levitating above its trajectory. Knowing that our combined attack has failed to take her down, she let out an egoistic laugh, so loud, that we all find it irritating and annoying.
"You don't need to waste any time and energy reversing your brother's curse, because it's useless. Can't you realize, that your attempts to take me down are pathetic? How laughable!"
Pathetic?
Sorry, Nehelenia. You're the fool.
Even though the attack initially missed Nehelenia, I have a lesson to teach that arrogant fool of a usurper who cursed my innocent boy!
With my skills in magic, I waved my hand to manipulate the trajectory of the attack. The electrified light-fire-bubble cyclone, having seemingly missed its target, had not travelled too far away from Nehelenia at the moment when I intervened. I let the combined ray make a U-turn behind Nehelenia's back, making sure that she is drown in her narcissist fantasy and oblivious to my manipulation of the trajectory. Eventually, the ray would hit back at Nehelenia and turn her pride into her undoing.
The ray changed its direction and veered rapidly, and went straight ahead when it locked on Nehelenia at supersonic speed.
"What?!"
And my magic did work. The powerful spell of the Sailor Guardians have successfully knocked Nehelenia out of her focus. When the combined attack hit her from behind, she looked back, and realized that it was too late for her to evade the supposedly missed attack. Having lost her focus, she could no longer levitate, and fell onto the ground.
Nehelenia was panting, after she got hit badly by the attack. Seemingly defeated, she ranted, "I underestimated your power..."
I then held my sword up, and looked at Venus. She then assured me, "Aurora, we will help you finish her!"
She then turned her head towards the other Sailor Guardians, "Sisters, channel your energy for her!"
The Sailor Guardians then channeled their magic onto my sword.
Reaching out her hands in concentration, she conjured a ray of golden light to my sword, chanting, "Venus Power!"
Mercury also conjured a ray of light in her own blue color to my sword, chanting, "Mercury Power!"
Bringing out her maximum concentration and connection to the Force and the powers of her planet, the planet of fire and war, Mars channeled a ray of light as red as a hot blaze, chanting, "Mars Power!"
And at last, Jupiter used her tremendous strength to push forward a wide green beam of power, channeling the energy of the largest planet in the Solar system, chanting, "Jupiter Power!"
Meanwhile, Nehelenia struggled to stand up. She was almost exhausted by our combined attack, but she still had the last bit of strength that she could use to catch us by surprise.
Holding a grudge against us, she grunted, "but... you will not..."
With immeasurable wrath, she roared with her final remaining strength, "... underestimate mine!"
I can feel the sword getting heavier, as if it has an immense amount of energy stored inside, waiting to be unleashed. I have only started my sword training a few days ago, and I have never defeated an enemy with it. Nehelenia's appearance and power evoked memories of Maleficent inside me, and to be honest, I am quite anxious because of that, doubting whether I can defeat this horrifying tyrant with my sword.
However, I know that this is a moment that will change the history of the Solar system. Any extra second of hesitation can lead to the downfall of the Moon Kingdom. I know, that as the girl who Prince Serenity loves, I will never allow that. I know, that I have to finish Nehelenia and honor the trust the Sailor Guardians have given me.
As the Sailor Guardians encouraged me and granted me the powers of their planets, I overcame the fear in my heart.
I must break my lover's curse. And I will break my lover's curse.
I must break the Sailor Guardians' brother's curse. And I will break their brother's curse.
I must eliminate "Queen" Nehelenia. And I will eliminate the illegitimate "Queen" Nehelenia.
Being more determined than ever, I made a leap upwards, with my sword held up high and ready to strike.
At this decisive moment, I lightly whispered in a deep, low and mild voice, "Serenity, your curse shall now be broken."
As soon as I finished the whisper, I used up all the strength that I have in both of my arms, and swung a powerful slash diagonally downwards, against the wicked pretender.
Enchanted with the magic of fire, thunder, ice and light and blessed with the power of four planets, the blade cut through Nehelenia in an instant, who felt like she was burning, freezing and being electrocuted and blinded at the same time.
As I landed from my leap, we watched the self-proclaimed "queen of darkness" fading away from existence, into the luminous shadows of my sword.
Nehelenia, the one who attempts to usurp the throne of the Moon, is gone for good.
Serenity, my beloved prince, is free from his curse now.
The Sailor Guardians, his sisters, all cheered on me after I have cut Nehelenia down.
Hugging me in her Sailor Guardian uniform, Sailor Venus congratulated me elatedly, "Yes, you did it, Aurora!"
Overjoyed, Jupiter also joined the hug, telling me, "You are the champion!"
Moments after heroically slaying Nehelenia, I suddenly feel that I have reverted to that girl in the forest momentarily. I blushed from the Sailor Guardians' compliments, thinking that I was just an ordinary girl living in the forest not long ago. Back then, I would not have thought that I would be capable of such a great achievement of defeating a very powerful evil fairy and thereby freeing a prince from his curse of eventual death, and I'm praised for that, by all his talented and gifted sisters - the Princesses of the Moon Kingdom.
I closely hugged Serenity's sisters, feeling joyful that they no longer had to live under the shadow of Nehelenia's threat, and that their beloved brother's curse is lifted.
