INT. CABBAGE CORP STENOPOOL - NIGHT
The office door is being kicked from the inside with a piece of debris holding it closed from the outside. Employees are kicking and ramming into the door with small fires feeding on what's left of the carpet.
We see Zura and Kin trying to hammer the doorknob with a stapler and a desk phone. Baki puts out the few small fires in the office.
KIN
Kick it near the bottom to bend out the wood.
WORKER 2
Yes, ma'am.
KIN
Zura, put your arms into it.
ZURA
(struggling)
I'm trying...
BAKI (O.S.)
Everyone move!
Kin and other workers move out of the way quickly. Baki charges forward with Kin's heavy rolling chair and launches it through the glass divider, smashing it loudly. Baki pants a bit before waving everyone through.
BAKI
That's how momma gets her anger out, honey. C'mon.
INT RUINED OFFICE - CONTINUOUS
The others come out carefully to see the floor is nearly gone. The outside wall is wide open to the wind and sounds of disaster below. Fires rages across the city with benders putting them out where possible.
KIN
(coughing)
Stay close to the wall - the stairwell is around the corner.
Everyone has their shirts over their noses as they sidle carefully. One of the inebriated workers nearly falls, but is caught by a co-worker.
WORKER 3
Stay close to the wall, okay!?
WORKER 1
(slurring)
You can't boss me around - I'm on break!
Baki reaches the metal door, but it won't open far enough to squeeze through.
BAKI
The latch is caught on something.
One of the workers at the back of the line grabs a fire axe from inside a case.
WORKER 1
(slurring)
Watch how far I can throw this.
The other worker snatches the ax from him and hands it up the line until it reaches Zura. She hefts the axe around uneasily to her mother.
Baki uses the butt of the handle to bend the metal out of the way. As she does, the floor beneath them creaks harshly.
ZURA
(scared)
Hurry, Momma.
BAKI
(yelling)
NO, YOU TAKE ON A SECOND JOB, RIAN!
One last slam moves them through as Baki yelps in pain.
ZURA
(worried)
Are you okay?
BAKI
(pained)
Yes...yes, baby, just a cut.
Everyone pushes down the stairs behind them. Kin stops to help Baki up.
KIN
Zura, can you lead the way?
Zura nods and is out in front. Kin comes up next to Baki, pulling her hair sash out.
KIN
I use hypo-allergenic hair wash, so this should still be clean.
BAKI
Thanks, but I don't think there's anything clean left in the building.
KIN
(smiling)
Fair point.
Ahead with Zura, the stairs are hazy and chipped with the railings warm to the touch. They pass a few more landing platforms.
WORKER 4 (O.S.)
(weakly)
Help me...please!
Zura pokes her head into the destroyed floor, seeing someone under a desk.
ZURA
(yelling)
Hey, there's someone here? Should we help them?
BAKI
Yes. I can-
KIN
You're hurt and these workers are my responsibility. Hand me that ax and I'll reach him.
BAKI
I'm coming with you to help lift that desk. I'm okay, really.
Kin nods and takes the ax. Their first steps onto the floor creaks with labored wood, but they move quickly nonetheless. The ax swings softly in Kin's hands, catching the edge of the desk.
BAKI
Let me help.
She grabs the shaft of the ax and helps Kin pull.
KIN
(struggling)
Almost...there.
The desk finally comes off the worker, plummeting down into the debris far below.
WORKER 4
(softly)
Thank you...thank you both.
Baki grabs their hand while Kin moves closer to the applauding Zura in the doorway.
As they walk, a large creak resounds. All three of them look to the floor as Zura takes a step forward.
The floor gives way and, without thinking, Zura leaps after her mother's outstretched hand.
After a breath-taking moment of no sound, the worker is shown upside down. Holding him is Kin. Holding her is Baki's bloody hand, with her other hand up to Zura's. Zura holds the entire group by the strength of her impressive toes.
ZURA
(excitedly)
YES!
BAKI
Zura, do you have us?
ZURA
Are you kidding? I think I can do some pull-ups, hold on!
KIN
Unnecessary. Perhaps...yes, can you swing us over there?
ZURA
With gusto!
The group swing back and forth. The worker is the first to hop over to a cement support beam, turning immediately to catch Kin, who lets the ax drop down.
She turns once she lands.
KIN
Come over.
BAKI
We'll climb up and meet you on the ground. Zura, take us up.
ZURA
(struggling)
Elevator goes up!
The two roll into the stairwell, panting together for a hug.
BAKI
Thank you, Zee.
Zura gives her mom a knowing look.
BAKI
And thank your foot people too.
She sprouts a smile.
BAKI
Let's get on the ground.
The two take off down the dangerous stairs.
CUT TO:
EXT. GREAT SWAMP
Makami slides down the side of the giant boulder with the horizon still glowing in flame. Air benders are being tended to with nothing but leaves and mortared herbs.
PAYA (O.S.)
YOU!
Paya, with his robes torn and dirtied, wobbles up with an angry finger pointed directly towards Makami.
PAYA
(loudly)
What did you do? How could you let this happen - do you know what we just lost? You, with all your power and foresight, couldn't be bothered to-
Shii lands in front of the charging Paya and snatches at his wrist.
SHII
(sternly)
You must've hit your head on the way down to dare accuse the Avatar of injustice now, Paya!
He rips his hand away with Shii's finger now in Paya's face.
SHII
(angrily)
While you were counting your winnings, she saved hundreds of lives.
PAYA
(angrily)
And all of those winnings are now ash in the air because she didn't...
Both of them watch Toyo as he marches towards Makami. She watches him approach with his face down.
TOYO
Take it from me, someone that doubted her more than any other...
He rocks backwards before falling to one knee, looking back up to her with a satisfied smile.
TOYO
We owe Avatar Makami our lives, and our allegiances.
He looks to Meelo next to him, who uses Toyo's shoulder to lower himself down to one knee.
MEELO
For the second time in my life, it is my honor, Avatar.
Shii is next to come to one knee. From there, the injured claw their way up to one knee while the healthy come down, all of them quietly whispering "Thank you, Avatar Makami."
Before long, only Paya and Makami are left standing. Her eyes soften harshly, brimming with grateful tears. Paya traces his people with a bitter look before landing back on Makami.
PAYA
An Avatar seeks justice. You want me to grovel at your feet?
He juts his finger back towards the Earth Kingdom.
PAYA
Then bring those responsible to justice!
Makami steps forward with the people rising all around.
MAKAMI
Their time will come soon. Tonight, we need to save as many lives as possible.
(to crowd)
Tend to the wounded and rest. I will send Sage Toyo to Republic City to bring back tents and supplies for you all.
MEELO
(to crowd)
Bring forward an air bison!
She turns to Toyo and Shii.
TOYO
I'll be back tonight with aid.
MAKAMI
Good. Shii, these people need you tonight.
SHII
(nodding)
I understand. You'll need a bison as well.
MAKAMI
No, I've got it.
KOTA
We've got it.
Makami smiles as Kota and Abe stand strong, both fixing and dusting themselves off. She pats both of their shoulders as she passes. The air bison sets down next to Toyo.
MAKAMI
Forneus, are you there?
Her spiritual friend springs from the ground and spins.
MAKAMI
Remember when we used to surf at Agi Beach? You think you can fly me again, buddy?
Forneus snuggles against her cheek to a smile.
MAKAMI
(laughing)
I knew I could count on you. Let's do it.
The stingray rushes close to the ground, growing in size as it does. Makami runs after him with Kota and Abe, using a flame burst to land atop his back. Forneus swoops up into the air with all three balanced.
CUT TO:
INT. UNDERGROUND LABORATORY
Voso bursts into the quiet weapons lab. There are deactivated automatons and the faint glow of green from closed chests. He steps in from the doorway, his footsteps quiet and his eyes scanning the darkness.
FUU-KI (O.S.)
(warbled)
She must be here. I can feel her fear.
VOSO
Come out, Advisor. We're in this together now.
He passes by stone columns, leaning down to check under a table.
VOSO
We can still work together to find a way out of this.
As he looks towards the background, Alrund sneaks by in the foreground shadows with her outfit disheveled.
FUU-KI (O.S.)
(warbled)
Appeal to her need for safety.
VOSO
We can pin this on someone else completely. Your sister will believe you...
His eyes narrow as he gently pops the top of his water cannisters.
VOSO
And my country will have a scapegoat. No one will ask questions.
ALRUND (O.S.)
You'll never come near me again!
A rock zooms past his head. He ducks behind a robot as more rocks pepper the space around him.
FUU-KI (O.S.)
(warbled)
She's getting away again!
He swipes his hand up to bring a bolt of water into his command, then pushes it forward. The ground at her stepping foot is frozen in an instant, causing her to slip and crash to the ground.
FUU-KI (O.S.)
(warbled)
Good shot, lad.
Voso hops over the automation's shoulder, tripping over a cord and yanking it out of the wall. The robot's eyes light up and its body jolts with life.
He pushes back from the incomplete robot - pieces of copper armor inconsistently placed across its torso. In the center is a half-finished compartment that glows with an eerie green light.
FUU-KI (O.S.)
(warbled)
Move, boy!
The robot swings its heavy metal arms through Voso, sending him over a table and to the ground. He recovers slowly as Alrund crawls to her feet.
FUU-KI (O.S.)
(warbled)
You must fight the beast!
VOSO
(mumbling)
I don't know how.
He rolls out of the way of a punch that cracks the rock floor. He stumbles back to his butt clumsily.
FUU-KI (O.S.)
(warbled)
Let me help you.
VOSO
(panicked)
How?
FUU-KI (O.S.)
(warbled)
Give me control of your body.
VOSO
What?
FUU-KI (O.S.)
(warbled)
Trust me - quickly!
The robot's arm is wound for another strike as Voso shuts his eyes.
VOSO
(shouting)
Fine, take it!
The fist is forward, but Voso's arms cross, anchoring the fist to the ground with crossing ice spikes. Voso slowly raises his head with his eyes now showing as purple sheets.
His possessed body uses his water bending expertly, helping him slide under the robot's other swinging arm. Back up, he's swinging an ax made of ice through the holes in the metal shielding.
The arm breaks loose of the ice and spins like a tornado. It angles to take up chunks of the floor, but Voso counters with an ice shield that holds against the rocks.
He spins it under his feet, kicking the shield against the bot's face and throwing it off balance. He spins while gathering the water above his head, bringing it down into several blades at once.
The robot sparks and falls away two slices at a time at either side.
VOSO
(as Fuu-Ki)
You truly are powerful, boy. Now, let's find your prisoner. Come on out, spirit friends.
His small gang of spirit friends come out, bouncing in joy at Voso's apparent freedom. Voso's possessed body holds up his hand towards them.
VOSO
(as Fuu-Ki)
I'll be borrowing your bodies as well, little ones.
Their defined forms tear, stretch, and blacken until they are wild purple imps. Voso's hand lowers.
VOSO
(as Fuu-Ki)
Lead us to the woman.
They shoot out like bolts of black lightning, bouncing from the walls before squirming through the roof. Voso's body makes for the stairs.
CUT TO:
INT. PRESIDENTIAL HALLWAYS
Alrund slides into the opposite wall of the hallway as she turns a corner. She recovers and continues to run as the spirits seep up through the floor, growling and snapping. She slides to a stop again and turns.
Voso comes around the corner with two spinning discs of fluid and a confident smirk.
Alrund begins to fight immediately.
ALRUND
Stay back!
Stones throughout the hallway fly with Voso dodging with unnatural skill and grace. He's ducking and sliding with his body always spinning, the tides in either hand serving as redirecting shields. Alrund grows more frustrated, stepping backwards as he approaches.
ALRUND
(shakily)
STAY BACK!
He lands and blasts his jet streams ahead, pushing her back into the spirits that wrap around her torso. She stands paralyzed as Voso saunters up with the deep, Fuu-Ki bellowing from his throat.
VOSO
(with Fuu-Ki)
You've bullied this boy, called him your dog, played with that which he cares for most.
ALRUND
(shakily)
W-what are you?
One of the spirits skitters up Voso's arm and into his hand. Alrund tries to wriggle away as he brings the spirit to her face.
VOSO
(with Fuu-Ki)
I am the best friend that anyone could ever have.
The spirit slithers between her teeth and down her throat. All of them release her at once, allowing her to clutch to her throat and cough. She is soon down to the ground, unconscious.
Voso's head falls back as he backpedals.
VOSO
(with Fuu-Ki)
Come back, lad, and see what awaits you.
His body convulses for a moment before falling to the ground as well.
CUT TO:
EXT. OVER THE GREAT OCEAN - NIGHT
Forneus flies low over the water with pillars of smoke glowing against high flames on the horizon. Makami balances deftly while Kota and Abe grab tight to the spirit's antenna.
KOTA
(shouting)
This little guy can fly, huh?
ABE
(shouting)
Oh, wow, good one!
KOTA
(shouting)
Shut it!
Makami points to the horizon.
MAKAMI
(shouting)
That flame looks right on top of Capital City! C'mon, Forneus!
CUT TO:
EXT. PRESIDENTIAL PALACE
Earth Kingdom soldiers break against Adachi and his guard. The commandant slings magma and circles around, splitting thrown rocks in two. The chaotic, anemic palace guards are no match for the flame wielder on this night, especially not as Khonsu and Mako join the battle.
ADACHI
Leave them unconscious.
He extinguishes the whips in his hands and continues to walk ahead.
ADACHI
This won't take long.
INT. PRESIDENTIAL PALACE MEETING CHAMBER - CONTINUOUS
Various guards barricade the front door with the large table and benches. The Head of the Guard himself runs up with a salute to President Inca, who is making a large, ostentatious sand castle with a faint smile.
HEAD OF THE GUARD
Ma'am, we've barricaded the entrance, but they have fire, so you know...wood burns. Any word from Advisor Alrund? Or the military?
INCA
My sister won't be joining us, nor will the military keeping peace in the lower ring, Captain. Man your post.
The door burns white-hot from the outside and caves in quickly. Earth benders retreat, taking position beside pillars where metal barriers are erected. Inca stands upon her sand house, looking towards the door.
The wood and metal pool over with a dense, hot cloud of steam pouring through the open portal. A rock wall erects over several of the guards like a phalanx. There are eye holes in the front where sweating faces are seen.
They were caught off-guard by the steam hardening all around them, pressing some of them to the pillars and floors. The openings for them to look through are iced over as well, giving the rest of Adachi's crew just enough time to enter.
He does so acrobatically, jumping from risen molten path to molten path that splash down to the ground, giving his troops room to enter.
INCA
(loudly)
How did I know it would come to this?
He lands just before her sand pit with his hands sizzling hot. Inca is still stop her castle.
INCA
Imagine how much time and effort we could've just saved ourselves if you'd told me you had planned on storming my castle. You and your wretched little grandson could've had matching jail cells.
ADACHI
President Inca, you are under arrest for breaking a legal treaty with the Fire Nation. You will be extradited to Republic City where a trial will be held-
INCA
With a jury of my peers? You couldn't find enough people in the world. Besides, you have no proof.
She begins sinking into the house.
INCA
In the end, all people will know is that you broke in here in yet another coup attempt by the vicious Fire Nation.
She disappears into the house as Adachi ignites his molten whip. The house swirls quickly to crash where Adachi was just standing. He blows flame out of his mouth, turning the sand to glass, before whipping it harshly.
He can't keep up with all the sand bending and is soon wrapped in a tight sheet of it. Inca forms a scythe out of sand and walks forward menacingly.
INCA
You'll love this one, funny man - what do you tell the grim reaper when he comes for you?
She pulls back the scythe.
INCA
I didn't die, I was born this way!
A bolt of lightning rips through the shaft of the weapon from Mako's fingertips, saving Adachi as he smashes through the glass around his body.
Inca and he drop down into their poses again, looking ferociously back at one another.
CUT TO:
EXT. CAPITAL CITY
Makami flies in on Forneus' back, using her own flames for the last part of the ride as she lands in the middle of a raging fire. Five people are in the middle of the flame as she lands, swirling her arms to take the fire off the ground to dissipate in the air.
WOMAN 1
(coughing)
Th-thank you.
Makami nods and is off again, grabbing Forneus as he sails by.
MAKAMI
(shouting)
There!
In a high-rise building, there is a raging fire several stories off the ground.
ABE (O.S.)
(shouting)
MAKAMI!
She looks down as Kota wails on a fire extinguisher with a crow bar next to a waving Abe.
ABE
(shouting)
Need some water!?
Makami gives a thumbs up as the spray comes out in force. Abe bends it up the floors to her, she using her feet to bend it into the inferno. She uses some of it to give herself an ice ramp inside.
MAKAMI
(muffled shouting)
Is there anyone there!?
She pushes deeper into the floor, bending the air around her to see through the smoke.
The distinct hiss of leaking gas widens her eyes as it comes close to some lingering fire. She turns, blasting herself with air out the side of the building as the explosion erupts behind her. She snatches at Forneus' tail in the air as the spirit descends.
They glide down to the ground where Kota and Abe converge.
KOTA
Ami, you maniac!
They hug tightly.
MAKAMI
You two alright?
ABE
Yeah, we've been helping out.
KOTA
Every bender in the city is trying to put everything out or back together. There's...it's bad, Ami.
MAKAMI
I know. I think I can help.
KOTA
Ami, wait...
Kota comes close.
KOTA
(sadly)
I didn't bother to check on my house since no one was there, but I stopped by yours. It was...burned.
ABE
We didn't see anyone in there, or any sign that they were there.
Makami looks down and away for only a moment before shaking her head.
MAKAMI
No, they're alive. They're fine. For every special occasion, Zura would beg Mom to go out. The...the angle for the meteor would've...been off.
She trails off. Kota doesn't have a chance to step forward before she blasts off towards the city center.
CUT TO:
INT. PRESIDENTIAL HALLWAYS
Voso stirs and holds his head. All of his spiritual friends are around him, trying to help him up.
VOSO
(mumbling)
I'm up guys, I'm up.
FUU-KI (O.S.)
(warbled)
Welcome back. I've left you a gift.
His eyes widen as he sees Alrund still sprawled on the ground.
VOSO
(whispering)
Is she...is she...?
FUU-KI (O.S.)
(warbled)
Not at all. I've given your ability a new dimension. On your feet, lad.
He slowly obeys with his knees shaking.
FUU-KI (O.S.)
(warbled)
Now, order her to do the same.
He waits a beat before looking towards her.
VOSO
Wake up.
Alrund's eyes snap open.
VOSO
Stand up.
She obeys like a marionette, looking terrified.
ALRUND
(quickly)
Please-please-PLEASE don't do this - let me go, whatever you've-
VOSO
Stop talking.
She immediately silences, clawing at her mouth.
FUU-KI (O.S.)
(warbled)
When you trusted me, I saw your gift's ability to evolve. She's made your life an agonizing box, and now she can pay for her crimes. All of them can pay.
VOSO
Where is your sister?
ALRUND
(resisting)
The...throne room.
VOSO
Even in an emergency?
She begrudgingly nods.
FUU-KI (O.S.)
(warbled)
Let's get you home.
VOSO
Take me to the throne room.
CUT TO:
INT. PRESIDENTIAL PALACE MEETING CHAMBER
Adachi bellows lava from his hands and mouth, filling the pit of sand to cut off Inca's source for bending. The steam and smoke rises as he turns back to her. She has several spinning bands of sand around her body while he holds a magma dao spear.
He spins with power, sweeping for her legs while she dodges up and sends sand knives back at him. A magma shield protects him.
She lands in front of him with sand gauntlets, bounding against his shield, pushing it aside. Another blow hits his face and sends him backwards across the floor.
Inca jumps, shielding herself from a return blast by sacrificing the rest of her sand. She slides back across the floor, bringing up rolls of earth from the floor. By time she stops, she has four wheels of rock at her command.
Adachi, Khonsu, Mako, and the remaining soldiers are closing her towards the pit of lava. She has the wheels up to block any further attacks, and her eyes are wide in awareness. Everyone slides closer, inch by inch, while her heels begin to melt.
Everyone flinches as a side door is kicked open. Voso moves through with Alrund captured.
ADACHI
(loudly)
Stay back, Voso!
VOSO
It was her!
He pushes her to the ground.
VOSO
I caught her in the missile silos launching them into the sky. She admitted the whole thing when I caught her.
He kicks her shoe.
VOSO
Tell them!
ALRUND
I-it's true! This was all Inca's idea.
Inca stares with wide, hurt eyes down to her sister. Alrund is on the verge of tears, trying to fight Voso's power haplessly.
ALRUND
I'm sorry, sister.
ADACHI
That's evidence, Inca. You're toast.
Feral rage flashes across her face for the briefest of moments. Her smile widens after, her hands rising and knees lowering to the ground.
Her smile only grows as ice begins to form around her torso.
INCA
(laughing)
Finally, Adachi, finally! Your weak little punchline.
Adachi thanks Mako and Khonsu before coming face-to-face with his grandson. While a smile remains, there is something hesitant and suspicious in it.
VOSO
It's over now.
ADACHI
Yes. All over.
VOSO
There is something I'd like to ask you.
Adachi waits and braces.
VOSO
What did they pay for the technology to create these terrible weapons? Not the individual parts, what was the bottom line cost? Reason I ask is that I'd like to tell Makami exactly how much the Fire Nation values a life. I know she'll do the right thing, unlike you.
Voso walks away with his eyes blaring anger at his grandfather.
VOSO
I quit this stupid game.
Adachi is left standing by himself, staring into a smoldering rock on the ground.
CUT TO:
EXT. CAPITAL CITY DOWNTOWN
Makami lands in front of the largest inferno overtaking an entire warehouse. Dozens of benders are trying to get water onto the scene in an assembly line, but they're having little effect.
KOUICHI
(shouting)
Release the heat as a group - get more fire benders to the right side!
Makami approaches Kouichi from behind.
MAKAMI
Are you in charge here?
KOUICHI
What? Yes, what element can you bend?
MAKAMI
All of them.
He freezes in realization, turning to face her fully.
KOUICHI
Avatar Makami, then?
MAKAMI
Where do you need me most?
KOUICHI
Everywhere.
SMASH CUT TO:
INT. SAFETY CHECKPOINT
An unfurled map of Capital City pinned to a wall shows red markers covering hundreds of locations with green and blue checkmarks on very few of them. Around the map are operators and emergency switchboards with people coming to the map with markers in hand.
Makami is behind Kouichi as he points at the map. Kota and Abe are watching on, playing with their space blankets.
KOUICHI
There are roughly two-hundred fires, about fifty of them are high-risk. The sky-toucher buildings are our top priority in downtown, then we're trying to confirm reports of a fire at the fuel depots and power station.
MAKAMI
And the water pumping stations?
KOUICHI
There were some but those are out now.
MAKAMI
What about these residential fires?
KOUICHI
I need every bender I have to face down these larger fires.
MAKAMI
But steel and concrete have higher melting points, so we have more time. People are in those homes.
KOUICHI
People are in the office buildings as well.
MAKAMI
During a holiday weekend? Unlikely. We know there are people in the suburbs that need help. Now. Send your people there and I'll deal with the sky-touchers.
KOUICHI
Our intel in the suburbs is spotty at best - there's no way we can possibly know who needs help.
Kota slides in with the space blanket around her head like a turban.
KOTA
I know someone.
CUT TO:
INT SAFETY CHECKPOINT - A FEW MINUTES LATER
Dear old Miss Shang, armed with a baker's dozen fanny packs, beings to empty her notepads onto the table. She sports a pair of cloth, sequin visors that do little to endear her to the soldiers listening to her speak.
MISS SHANG
Listen up, sandal-shufflers!
Makami and Kota smile off to the side with Kouichi looking surprised behind them.
One of the operators is up and sweating in fear.
OPERATOR 1
(to Kouichi)
S-sir, we've got confirmation that the power station exterior is now on fire.
KOUICHI
We have to redirect everyone there now.
MAKAMI
(sternly)
No, they have to go to the houses.
KOUICHI
Do you know what happens if this island loses power? Those water pumps will go offline, making-
MAKAMI
Making the water toxic in approximately six hours, which is more than enough time to set back-up generators.
She steps closer to him.
MAKAMI
Get your people to those houses first. I'll handle the power station.
KOUICHI
With all due respect, Avatar, you can't be everywhere at once.
She turns from him and walks past the many operators.
MAKAMI
(loudly)
No one else dies tonight!
EXT. CAPITAL CITY STREETS
The immediate area was built quickly, showing soldiers, medical personnel, and civilians doing what they can to move supplies.
Makami is only a step out of the building before she turns with relief.
BAKI (O.S.)
Makami!
Baki and Zura rush into Makami's arms with fierce hugs. She squeezes them back as Kota comes over smiling.
MAKAMI
(quietly)
I knew you were okay.
BAKI
We didn't know about you.
She pulls away and frantically searches for injuries.
BAKI
Are you okay?
MAKAMI
Minor concussion aside, I'm fine.
ZURA
Nu-uh, you're in trouble with your boss lady.

Kin approaches from behind a stack of boxes, her eyes firm despite the grime on her cheeks.
KIN
Miss...Avatar, Miss Shin, I regret to inform you of your termination from Cabbage Corp, citing your weeks of continued absences.
Makami and Kota share a guilty look.
KOTA
I guess we forgot to call after the first few days, huh?
ZURA
Uh, yeah you did! Then I had to pretend to be you and do your work like a bazillion times better just so she'd forgive you.
BAKI
That's...not exactly true, but Zura did pitch in.
MAKAMI

BAKI

Her eyes close as she hovers high above the burning city.

Her eyes open to a full white light. The clouds dissipate around her in a glorious starburst, similar to the one created by the bombs but softer with the elements coursing through her very energy.
MONTAGE BEGIN
- Looking up from Capital City, the residents are shielding their eyes, fearing the worst. Baki is covering Zura and Kota with Kin covering them. After the light dims slightly, all three look up with awe.
KOTA
(quietly)
Makami?
Baki and Zura look to Kota.
- Voso gazes at the aura from the stoop of the palace with his mouth hanging open. Further along the path, the ambassadors and soldiers follow suit.
FUU-KI (O.S.)
(warbled)
Behold the true power of Avatar Makami.
VOSO
(quietly)

- Toyo and Shii gaze at the nova adjacent to the boulder of rock. Meelo comes up beside them.
MEELO

TOYO

Toyo exchanges a smile with Shii. The older man pulls out the list, now complete, and rips it in half.

Makami's arms swirl to grab the clouds in her power.

EXT. UPPER ATMOSPHERE
From space looking down to the sky, Makami's astonishing power is on display. Clouds from the entire hemisphere are rushing together into a world-engulfing hurricane.
CUT TO:
EXT. SKY OVER CAPITAL CITY
The clouds swirl into Capital City, rushing through like a swift mist. The flames are blotted out, suffocated by the clouds.
CUT TO:
EXT. CAPITAL CITY STREETS
Zura has her mouth open, catching a mouthful of water before spitting it out.
ZURA
(disgusted)
That water tastes like boots!
Kota and Baki look at the twinkling jet stream that looks as though the Milky Way has come to visit them.
The cloud passes, allowing everyone to stand in peace. The fires are out across the city. Kouichi steps out with the same stricken expression.
KOUICHI
(softly)
