Mario and Luigi's Roller Coaster Ride

It's a beautiful morning at Six Flags Great Adventure in New Jersey where the Mario Bros. are enjoying a day of rides, games, and food. Mario smiled at his brother and said, "I can't believe that we're in New Jersey for a great day of excitement here in Great Adventure."

"It sure is, bro," Luigi replied, "Just the both of us together and it's also a good thing for us because today, we're going to ride one of our personal favorite roller coasters in the park, Kingda Ka!"

"Mamma Mia! Did you say Kingda Ka?"

"That's right! It's the tallest roller coaster in the world at 456 feet with a top speed of 128 mph!"

"Wow! Sounds like fun. Let's do it!"

So Mario and Luigi ran as fast as they could to Kingda Ka in the Golden Kingdom for their biggest ride yet.

When they got there, they saw how high the coaster goes. Mario looked at it and said, "There it is, Luigi. Kingda Ka."

"It sure is, bro," Luigi replied with a smile, "This is indeed the park's most popular coaster and here's the good news, there is nobody in front of us! We're the first riders of the day!"

"That's fantastic! Well, let's ride this monster!"

With that, the duo walked through the bamboo-themed queue line to the coaster entrance for their official ride.

When they got there, they saw an empty train with 18 seats. A ride operator came to them and said, "Good morning and welcome to Kingda Ka, the tallest roller coaster in the world. I'm Eric, the operator of this ride and you are?"

"I'm Mario and this is my brother Luigi," Mario replied to him.

"Great to see you, guys. Well then, I'm so glad to have you both this morning because you're the first two riders of the day!"

"We are?"

"That's right! As the first riders of Kingda Ka, you'll get the first ride of the day! Now then, shall we load the train?"

"Yeah!" Luigi said with a smile.

"All right, then! Mario and Luigi, enter... KINGDA KA!"

Mario and Luigi agreed as they entered the front car. Then they lowered the restraints as Eric said, "Well, it looks like you're all set and ready to go! Now then, let's check if you are clear for launch."

Eric came to the controls and then, the light on the control panel is green. That means Kingda Ka is ready. He looked at it and said, "And we are clear for launch! Well Mario and Luigi, this is it! The moment I press this button, you'll go to the launch area. This will tell you when to launch. Now then, are you ready to ride the tallest roller coaster in the world?"

"LET'S-A GO!" Mario and Luigi replied at the same time.

"Okay! Enjoy the ride!"

With that, Eric pressed the button as Kingda Ka moved slowly out of the station to the launch area. At last, Mario and Luigi's ride on Kingda Ka has officially begun.

When Kingda Ka came to the launch area, it passes through the switch track before coming to a stop. Now comes the final step of the ride, the launch.

As the train begins to roll back slightly, the catch car has been engaged and the brakes on the launch track begins to retract.

Just then, a voice came on and said, "Arms down, head back, hold on!"

Mario and Luigi heard it as they follow the ride's instructions.

Mario smiled at his brother and said, "Well, this is it. In just a few seconds, we'll be launching 456 feet in the air."

"Me too," Luigi replied as they await the launch, "This is going to be the most exciting 28 seconds of our lives."

"It sure is, bro. Now hold on tight because here it comes!"

So here they are, waiting for the launch to happen. Both brothers held on tight and braced themselves as the timer started. Five, four, three, two, one...

And then...

It is time.

WHOOSH!

The train launched, sending Mario and Luigi out of the launch track at the top speed of 128 mph in 3.5 seconds with them screaming in delight. After that, the train climbs up to the main tower and rolls 90 feet to the right before reaching the ride's maximum height: 456 feet.

After that, the train made its plunge down 418 feet through a 270-degree, clockwise spiral before climbing up 128 feet.

After 28 seconds of riding, Kingda Ka has made its way back to the station. Mario and Luigi came out of the train and Luigi said, "That was... AWESOME! This was the best 28 seconds ever and I enjoyed every second of it!"

"Me too! Say, care for another go on Kingda Ka?"

"Sure!"

And so, Mario and Luigi decided to have another go as Kingda Ka did its work once again. What a great day for the Mario Bros.
