WARNING: Eating disorders will be played and mentioned (especially in this chapter), please do not read if that triggers and makes you uncomfortable in any way!

TMNT

The moment Mikey woke up, everything seemed to fall in place. All the anxiety and tension along with the whole ordeal of recovery. But it wasn't as easy as it seemed to be in Leo's mind. Of course, he hadn't ever dealt with an eating disorder before. Nor had any of his brothers.

So, when the doctor started to go ahead with treatments, it was horrible to watch his little brother defy one of the only things keeping him alive at the moment. And how Leo hated the feeding tube, it looked so wrong to be on a little teenage boy's body. Yet it was on his little brother's teenage body.

Sometimes being the oldest had its perks, but this certainly wasn't one of them.

TMNT

It was a nice spring afternoon as Michelangelo laid in his sterile hospital bed. His brothers were out grabbing stuff for their stay, but the youngest yearned to be with his brothers. Ever since he woke up, Mikey felt so guilty for all the misery and pain he put his brothers through.

It was his fault

And he was still fat.

No matter how his brothers tried to put it, he was their fat little brother who was spared due to pure pity on its own. The way his thighs still bounced whenever he jumped, or the way that he couldn't place his hand across his side without having to extend his fingers.

It was pure torture.

The fact that the doctors and nurses still fed him when he was in a coma made him sick. He didn't want to eat, and no matter how bad he put it, Mikey didn't want to ever eat again. There was not any possibly or any lie that would get him to indulge in life's simple hearty pleasures. All he wanted to do was fix everything he had destroyed and try and wipe away any lasting pain his brothers still felt.

"Michelangelo?"

The young teenage boy turned his head to see his nurse walk in with a tray of food. "Hello Michelangelo, you know the drill." The nurse set the tray of food on a nearby table and brought it towards him. "Please eat, and remember we are starting small. All you need to eat is this small orange to get a sticker."

On his wall laid a chart, and for each sticker he got, the closer he was to being discharged. He needed at least 20 stickers, currently he had zero stickers due to his defiance.

Mikey shook his head as he scooted the food away from him. Even the smell made him physically sick.

The nurse gave a small sigh. "I thought you would say that. So, your brothers brought a visitor that might persuade you otherwise."

"Who?"

The young nurse gave a small gesture as his best friend Oliver came walking into the room. "Hey Mikey," he said softly.

Mikey gave a small gasp. Oliver looked different, and not in a good way. There were bags under his eyes as he walked as if he hadn't gotten any sleep lately. His skin was abnormally pale, his breathing seemed off in some weird way.

"Are you okey?" The young teenage boy asked his best friend.

Oliver chuckled. "I feel like that's something I should be asking you."

"Well, I'm not the one walking in the room looking like he is going to pass out."

"Don't worry," Oliver smiled softly, "I've gotten more sleep due to the fact that your awake."

Mikey frowned. His coma didn't just hurt his brothers, it had also hurt his best friend. He didn't want to place any burden upon anyone, but it seems he had unintentionally had. What he wouldn't give to erase that moment of his young life.

But he couldn't change the past.

"Hey Mikey?"

The young Hamoto boy looked up. "Yes Oliver?"

"Are you going to finish that orange?" Oliver asked softly. When Mikey shook his head, Oliver grabbed the orange slice and held it up as if he was examining it. "So, you're not going to eat this?"

"I thought I just answered your question. But if you really want to know, that orange will give me 10 pounds or more. And I'm already fat enough."

"To be correct, it would give you 45 calories," The young boy corrected, "But it would take you five minutes of exercise to burn it off."

"Only five?" Mikey asked with curiosity.

"Yup! That would be around ten pushups or so."

In all reality, Oliver knew that it was much more than that. But his plan was rather simple, if he could get Mikey to think that he exercised what he ate, it would let Mikey eat and help with his emotional issues and self-esteem.

That way Mikey was still eating but he was also working out in small amounts. It wouldn't burn all his calories away, but it would burn a small amount that was considered healthy by health professionals.

"Hey Mike?"

Mikey turned his head to face his best friend who was grinning. "Yes Olive?"

"I want to make you a deal. Can you hear me out?"

The young teenage boy felt his mind explore. It had been a while since anyone had challenged him, and maybe this was the chance to prove that he was strong in his values.

Mikey nodded. "Bring it on," he replied, grinning like mad.

"If you eat this orange, you can do five pushups. That way you burn all the calories you've just eaten. And that way you wouldn't gain any weight and…you get to have your first sticker!" Oliver said. "I promise I wouldn't tell anyone, not even the nurse."

Unknowing to Mikey, the nurse was actually watching from the cameras. When she first heard about Oliver's plan, she had to admit that it sounded like it would be a huge flop. But now that she could see the gears working in Mikey's eyes, there was a new feeling of hope.

"Are you sure it works that way?" Mikey asked softly as he held up the orange slice.

"100%, do you think I would lie to you?" Oliver asked innocently. And while he was technically lying, it was for a far greater purpose. "Remember that I passed health class with flying colors."

"You also failed math class."

"Is that important? I don't think it is. You just have to trust me, buddy."

Mikey looked down at the juicy orange slice, he gave a small smell and tried not to gag. But if his best friend was correct, he could easily work this off and still get a sticker.

He really wanted to leave the hospital.

"Ok," Mikey said slowly, "But only if you promise to not say a single word to the nurse about this."

Oliver held up one hand. "Scouts honor."

The young teen with shaky hands brought the orange up to his mouth.

And…swallowed it

Oliver held himself back from jumping up and down.

But the nurse did not hold back. She stood up from the computer cameras and jumped up and down. Oliver had done what she had been trying to do from day one.

He got Michelangelo to eat his first food item since he woke up.
