Game Guy's Lucky Cards with Toadette

It's a beautiful afternoon in Toad Town where Toadette is enjoying the sights when suddenly, she saw a sign at the MKBC studios. She looked at it and said, "Wow! That must be the brand new game show Game Guy is hosting right now and it's called Game Guy's Lucky Cards! I love that show and look, the new season starts today! Let's go inside and have some fun!"

With that, Toadette ran inside to the studios.

When she got there, she saw a friendly Shy Guy waiting for her. He smiled and said, "Hey there, Toadette. What brings you here?"

"I'm here to play Game Guy's Lucky Cards and the sign says that today is the season premiere," Toadette replied with a smile.

"Well, today's your lucky day because you are going to be the first contestant of the season!"

"Wow! I'm so happy for this! So when is the show?"

"In one minute! Now go to the stage and have some fun!"

"Thanks, Shy Guy!"

And so, Toadette ran as fast as she could to the stage for her game.

Meanwhile, the crowd is cheering with excitement as the voice said, "Live from our studios in Toad Town! It's time to deal your way to a fortune on... GAME GUY'S LUCKY CARDS! And now, here's your host. The Shy Guy dealer... GAME GUY!"

Just then, Game Guy came out of the curtain as the crowd cheered for him. Then he took a bow and said, "Thank you for that amazing applause, everyone! Good afternoon and welcome to the show where one card could lead you to a fortune. We are now in our 10th season here on Game Guy's Lucky Cards and what a better way to kick off this season by giving away 1,000,000 coins!"

The crowd cheered in excitement as Game Guy said, "That's right, folks. We have 1,000,000 coins up for grabs today and if you're lucky enough to go all the way, you could be a millionaire. So, are you ready to meet our first contestant of the season?"

"YEAH!" The crowd replied as they cheered.

"Okay! She is a mushroom girl who loves to go on an adventure. She loves to play sports in her spare time and is a loyal friend to everyone. Ladies and gentlemen, here she is! The Mushroom Girl... TOADETTE!"

Just then, Toadette came on stage as the crowd cheered for her. Game Guy smiled and said, "Welcome to the show, Toadette."

"Thank you for having me, Game Guy," Toadette replied with a smile, "I'm so happy to be here on this special day."

"So tell me more about yourself."

"Well I'm from Toad Town in the Mushroom Kingdom and my favorite hobbies are kart racing and sports."

"I see. Now if you could win big today, what are you going to do with it?"

"I would like to build my very own amusement park and have my very own kart."

"Well I hope you'll do great in today's game so, are you ready to play?"

"You bet!

"All right, then! Here's how the game works. We have this deck of 50 cards that is shuffled up before the game and there are 11 slots on this board. The object of the game is guess whether the next card is higher or lower than the one preceding it. For each correct answer, you'll earn money. If you can make it all the way, you'll be 1,000,000 coins richer!"

Toadette was amazed as she heard the rules from Game Guy.

Game Guy came to Toadette with the deck of cards and said, "Now all you have to do is draw the first card and I'll give you 5,000 coins right away. Go ahead."

Toadette smiled as she draw a 1, giving her 5,000 coins.

"Okay! Now the other ten cards are drawn face down and with that, we're ready to play! So Toadette, are you ready to deal your way to a fortune?"

"You bet," Toadette replied.

"Then let's start the game!"

With that, the crowd erupted in cheers as the game began. Then Game Guy said, "All right, Toadette. You have a one so, is it higher or lower for 10,000 coins?"

"Higher," Toadette replied.

"Okay! Is is higher?" Game Guy said as he flipped the second card, "Yes! It's a 2! Your coins have been doubled. Now then, higher or lower than a 2 for 15,000."

"Higher, please."

"Let's see it!"

With that, the third card was revealed to her and it is a 48.

"That's correct, Toadette! A very high number," Game Guy said to Toadette, "Now then, higher or lower than 48?"

"Lower!" Toadette said.

"All right, let's see a low number!"

The fourth card came up and it's a 3.

"So far so good, Toadette." Game Guy said, "You're at 20,000 coins and you have a three now. So you want the next card to be higher, right?"

"Of course it has to be higher," Toadette replied as Game Guy flipped the card over on the fifth slot and it shows a 44.

"There you go! 25,000 coins is in the bank and you are six cards away from the jackpot. Now then, are you ready to continue on?"

"As I'll ever be.

And so, Toadette kept on going as she guessed five more cards correctly. Now she has 500,000 coins and with only one card to go, she could win the game on her next call.

Game Guy smiled and said, "Well Toadette, you have made it to the final card of the game and if you could get this right, you'll be a millionaire. You have a 25 right now and everyone knows that this number is in the middle of the deck so you'll have to think carefully before you make that decision. Now then, is the next card higher or lower than 25? For 1,000,000 coins, Toadette..."

Everything grew silent as Game Guy said the magic words.

"WHAT IS YOUR DECISION?"

Toadette looked at the last card and with a smile, she said the one word that will decide the game.

"Higher."

Game Guy agreed with her decision and said, "Very well, then. Now to make this announcement very exciting, I want you to do the honors."

"Me?" Toadette asked as she placed her hand on the card.

"That's right. All you have to do is flip the card. Well Toadette, you are just one card away from winning the game and remember, this is for the jackpot. Ready?"

"As I'll ever be," Toadette replied with a smile.

"Then without further ado, it is time to reveal the card! Drum roll, please!"

With that, the lights have dimmed all across the studio as the drum roll began. Then the spotlight came on as it points to Toadette and the face down card. It all comes down to this: The game's final results.

Game Guy looked at the card and said, "This is it, ladies and gentlemen! Toadette has decided that the final card is going to be higher. If it is, then she'll go home as a millionaire. And now, the announcement you've all been waiting for is finally here! Toadette, is it higher than 25 for 1,000,000 coins? We're about to find out in three..."

Toadette looked at the card.

"Two..."

The entire studio is silent as they await the announcement.

"One..."

Game Guy looked at the board as Toadette is waiting for the signal to flip. Then he took a deep breath and then...

It is time.

"GO!"

FLIP!

With the word shouted, Toadette flipped the card and it revealed a...

THUD!

50!

Game Guy looked at the final results, smiled at Toadette and then...

It's official.

"Toadette... YOU WIN!"

With the announcement made, Toadette jumped for joy as confetti fell on the studio with the crowd receiving a huge standing ovation for her. Then she hugged Game Guy as the ovation continued on. Game Guy smiled and said, "You did it, Toadette! You have the winning card and to make it official, the last card of today's game was 50! That means you have just won 1,000,000 coins! Congratulations!"

"Thanks, Game Guy," Toadette replied with a smile while shedding tears of joy, "I'm so happy for this moment and I can't believe I'm holding the winning card. This is amazing!"

"It sure is, Toadette! You played an amazing game today and we are so happy for you. Now then, are you ready to receive your check?"

"You bet!"

"All right, then! Shy Guy, give her the money!"

Just then a Shy Guy came in with a check as Toadette took it gracefully from him. It has been a great game for her.
