"Daya… jaldi kr yaar dair ho rhi hai…" Abhijeet said in a hushed voice while getting out of the kitchen door.
Daya nodded and continued his work in the kitchen. He was putting plates, spoons and glasses in a tray. His hands were trembling a bit and speed was quite slow; well he had sprained ankle to defend himself for his slow actions.
Daya in same tone as Abhijeet replied to him: tum Mumma ko ly k ao itni dair may, mai yeh sb krta hun…
Abhijeet vanished through the mother's door. He shook the sleeping figure carefully not to make her worry unnecessarily: Maa… (Disha moved her head a little but she was still sleeping. Abhijeet again lightly shook her.) Maa utho na…
This time Disha opened her eyes a little; looked at Abhijeet's face with sleepy eyes and sat up in hurry: kiya hua Jeet sb theek hai na beta… (looked at the clock; it was striking two minutes left in midnight) itni raat ko… aap yahan kiya kr rhy ho?
Abhijeet tried to calm her down: kuch nhi hua Maa… sb theek hai…
Disha in worried tone: phir aapny mjhe iss tarhan kyun jagaya hai raat k iss waqt…
Abhijeet scratched the back of his head, he gave a small smile to her: wo na mera aapky haath ki coffee peeny ka dil kr raha hai… (clarified) mai aik file py kaam kr raha hun… coffee chahiye thi… (Disha just looked at her) aap bna dengi Maa?
Disha nodded; she stood up and wore her slippers. Both came out of her room. Disha was the first one who stepped outside.
"BAAM"
She was surprised by the sudden sound of the party popper. Colorful sprinkles fell on her head. She gave a shock filled gaze to Daya who was responsible for the task. She asked through her eyes "what is going in here?"
Abhijeet heard her question and answered it with love: Happy Mother's Day Maa…
Daya also reciprocated the greeting: Happy Mother's Day Mumma…
Mother looked at them with surprise and love. Abhijeet nudged her to move towards the dining table. They reached dining table; a homemade cake was waiting there for her. It was a simple and beautiful. Happy Mother's Day was written on it by chocolate sauce. Disha was overjoyed by the preparations. Abhijeet gave a knife to her. She cut the cake. Boys clapped. She took a piece of cake, fed Abhijeet and Daya. Both boys also fed cake to their mother. Now it was the time for the gifts ceremony. Abhijeet gave her a gift nicely packed. She happily accepted it. Daya gave her gift packed in a rectangular type box. She opened the gifts; Abhijeet had given her a beautiful magenta colored sarree with golden boarder. She lovingly caressed it. It was her favorite color.
Disha with love: bht piyari hai beta… (patted Abhijeet's cheek) mai issy zaroor pehnun gi… or issy humesha sambhal k rakhun gi… It's beautiful…
Daya nudged her in excitement: Mumma mera gift bhi kholo na…
Disha shook her head in no after seeing the excitement of her little boy: khol rhi hun… aik minute…
She opened Daya's gift. A beautiful and simple photo frame came out of it. It was of crème color, elegantly decorated with clay flowers. Moreover, the notable thing was the picture that increased its beauty. A family picture of them. Three of them smiling, Abhijeet was standing on right side of her mother while Daya was on left side. They were side hugging her to comfort her that there they are always standing beside her. She hugged the frame near her heart; a small tear fell from her eye in love. She was happy to have these caring boys as her sons. She just wanted the time to stop here. Daya cleared the tear from her eyes and nodded in no. Both sons recreated the picture by side hugging her to tell her that they are there; always.
Disha separated herself from the hug, she rubbed Daya's hair: itna piyara tohfa diya hai mere bety ny… issy to apni side table py rakhun gi taaky roz subah iss khubsurat tasweer k sath naye din ki shuruwaat karun…
Everyone smiled, Abhijeet remembered something: Daya jao na kitchen sy plates to ly k aao…
Daya nodded and rushed towards the kitchen. He took the tray in his hands and started to come out. Their kitchen had a single step stair. He was almost out of the door when his right foot took a misstep and he missed the step. It was like his foot knowingly missed the step however his brain had send the signal to take the step. His foot trembled and lost the balance. He fell on the ground; glasses and plates shattered on the ground. He fell on the broken pieces of the glass and had cut his chin whiles his hands were also scratched. His already injured foot was now severely injured. Disha and Abhijeet saw the scene but could not reach to help him. They saw him falling badly with a bleeding chin.
Abhijeet and Disha shouted: Dayaaaa…
Abhijeet rushed and helped him in standing up. He settled him to the dining chair and rushed to the kitchen to fetch the first aid box. Disha had already reached near Daya. Daya did not understand what was going on; he just felt pain. Disha was trying to stop the bleeding using her pallu. She was continuously blowing air on his wound trying to sooth him. Abhijeet came; he dressed his wound and took him to the room. He applied cream on his hands. During applying the medicine, Abhijeet noticed that Daya's hands were trembling lightly. He ignored and tended to his foot that again was twisted.
Abhijeet: Daya mai pair ka bul nikalny laga hun… thora sa pain hoga… OK
Daya protested; he was already feeling plenty pain in his foot: rehny do na Abhi theek hai… uski zaroorat nahi hai…
Disha rubbed his upper arm; she tried to console her little baby: kuch nhi hoga beta… bs abhi theek ho jaye ga… bhai ko krny do jo wo kr raha hai… (She knew her elder son has taken the proper medical training to entertain such emergencies during his police training)
Abhijeet did not pay heed to his resistance and continued: mai dus tk ginun ga tum ready kr lo tb tk khud ko…
Daya was going to say something but Abhijeet started counting: aik, do, teen…
Daya tightly closed his eyes in try to embrace the upcoming wave of pain. Disha grabbed his hand in her own to make him comfortable.
Abhijeet: chaar, … dus (and he suddenly twisted his foot )
Daya in pain cried: ahhhhh… Mumma…
Disha comforted him by burying his head in her stomach: kuch nhi hua… theek ho gaya hai ab to bulky…
Abhijeet tied the crepe bandage around his foot.
Daya in pain: tumhy ginti nhi aati theek sy… (grabbed his foot) aaahhh mera pair…
Abhijeet ruffled his hair: agar tum takleef k hony ka intezar karo gy to takleef zyada mehsoos hogi… or main hi chahta k mere bhai to takleef ho… (Daya pouted) Maa aap yahan betho Daya k pass … mai abhi aaya…
Daya was still in same posture while Disha was rubbing her hand in his hair: hmmm…
Moments later Abhijeet came inside with a tray in his hand. It contained slices of cake and Pasta made by Abhijeet with cold drinks. He put the tray on the bed.
Abhijeet forwarded a plate towards Disha: lain Maaa aap khayein…
He took his plate in his own hands and sat beside Daya. He took a spoonful of pasta and put it in Daya's mouth.
Disha: wah… pasta to bht mazay ka bnaya hai…
Daya nodded with: Haan na Mumma Abhi khana acha banata hai…
Abhijeet happily accepted all the praise: thank you…
They had some quality time together. Disha happily: thank you… (she patted their cheeks) bhgawaan bht meherbaan hai mjh pr jo usny mjhe itna piyar krny walay bety diye…
Both gave a hug to mother. Daya slept; Abhijeet and Disha left the room.
Abhijeet while closing door: Maa aapko nhi lagta aaaj kl Daya ko ziyada chotain lagny lagi hain… khas kr girny k Karen…
Disha shrugged off with: beta hota hai aisa… barhny wala baccha hai… giry ga to hi uth k sanmbhalna seekhy ga na… (patted his arm) Don't worry…
Abhijeet nodded: haan theek keh rhi hain aap…
Disha: mai theek he kehti hun... chalo ab ao mere sath mil k yeh sb (signaled to the mess near the kitchen door) simatwao kahi kisi or k na chot lag jaye kaanch sy...
Abhijeet obeyed her.
After completing the cleaning Abhijeet wished her Good Night…
Disha smiled: Good night…
