Pom Pom's Shuriken Minigame

On a perfect summer day at Shogun Studios, Pom Pom is enjoying the park as she sips some tea at the Tranquil Pipes Teahouse. She said, "I love this place. It makes me feel like I'm in Japan. I think that it is time to head to the Shuriken Dojo and play a game! Come on!"

So Pom Pom ran as fast as she could until she saw a sign with a shuriken. She looked at it and said, "There it is, the Shuriken Dojo. Let's do it!"

With that, she walked in the dojo.

When Pom Pom got there, she saw Ninja Star. He looked at her and said with a smile, "Hey there! Welcome to the Shuriken Dojo! What brings you here to this place?"

"I'm here to play," Pom Pom replied as she took out her Royalty Pass.

"Well, you came to the right place because in this game, you'll throw a shuriken at the target to score points. If you can reach the target score within one minute, you'll win a prize. Got it?"

"Got it."

"Okay! Now all you have to do is choose a difficulty level. Will you do it in normal or expert?"

Pom Pom looked at the two options and with a smile, she said, "I'm going to take on the expert level!"

"Okay," Ninja Star replied as he explains the rules of the game, "So in this mode, you'll have to score 100 points exactly in order to win. Each target you hit is worth up to eight points in this mode. But watch out for the negative point targets because these will deduct from your total. If you see a target, hit that button in front of you to fire your shuriken. Got it?"

"Of course I got that, Ninja Star. Let's do it!"

"All right, then! The clock is set for one minute and you'll have to get 100 points exactly before time runs out. So, are you ready to play?"

Pom Pom looked at the playing field and with a smile, she said, "I was born ready!"

"Very well, then. Now take your position and get ready to fire at the sound of the gong!"

So Pom Pom walked to the station and placed five of her shurikens on each slot. Then she took our her hammer and with a smile, she's ready to go.

Ninja Star walked on over to the gong, took out his hammer and said, "Ready?"

"As I'll ever be," Pom Pom replied with a thumbs up.

"All right, then! I'm going to hit the gong on the count of three. Good luck to you and have fun. So without further ado, the game will begin in 3..."

Pom Pom looked at the field.

"2..."

She takes careful aim at the target.

"1..."

Ninja Star looked at Pom Pom as she is ready to go. Then with a huge smile, he swung his hammer to the gong and then...

GONG!

The game is now officially underway.

Pom Pom looked at her first target and it has a point value of five. She hits her hammer at the center station, slings the shuriken at the target and then, it was a direct hit. The scoreboard saw it as Pom Pom scored the first five points of the game.

Pom Pom loved it as she saw another positive target coming in. Wasting no time, she fired her shuriken and it gave her eight points for a total of thirteen.

Ninja Star saw the progress as Pom Pom kept on going. It was a race against the clock as she score points for hitting the targets.

The scoreboard continues to add up Pom Pom's score as the timer is ticking away.

"Thirty seconds," Ninja Star announced as the game is now halfway done.

With each new target coming in, Pom Pom fired her shurikens at them to increase her point total without hitting the negatives.

Just then, the timer turned red as the scoreboard shows that Pom Pom scored 95 points. Ninja Star looked at the clock and said, "Ten seconds left!"

Wasting no time, she ran to the target and it has value of five. Pom Pom took out her hammer, aimed at the target and then...

It is time.

WHOOSH!

The shuriken has been fired as it heads straight for the target with Ninja Star initiating the final countdown. It all comes down to this, the final target.

"5..."

"4..."

"3..."

"2..."

"1..."

GONG!

CRASH!

As soon as the final gong came in, a crash was heard all across the dojo as the final target came down. Did Pom Pom do it in time?

Ninja Star looked at the replay from the scoreboard and with a smile...

He delivered the final announcement to Pom Pom.

"Pom Pom... YOU WIN!"

She did it! Pom Pom has earned 100 points exactly just as the gong sounded. Ninja Star hugged her and said, "Congratulations, Pom Pom! You've won the game and you did it just as the final gong went off! That means you've won the trophy. How do you feel?"

"It felt amazing," Pom Pom replied with a smile, "I can't believe that all of my battles against Mario and friends with my shuriken really helped me out and now, here I am as the winner of the Shuriken Dojo game."

"Of course you do. That last target you nailed down at the last moment is amazing and I'm so happy for you. Well then, here's your golden Shuriken Trophy!"

With that, Ninja Star gave the trophy to Pom Pom and with a smile, she said, "Now that's what I call a... HOT SHURIKEN!"
