Pom Pom as the Glitz Pit Referee

(This episode is dedicated to Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door. Happy 18th birthday!)

On a perfect fall day in the floating city of Glitzville, Pom Pom is enjoying the sights of the city. She smiled to herself and said, "I love this place. It makes me feel like I'm in another city and the skies are perfectly blue. I think it's time to check out some amazing fights at the Glitz Pit! Come on!"

So Pom Pom spun in her shell and sped her way to the Glitz Pit.

When she got there, she saw a sign for the big fight happening today between the Yoshi Kid and Rawk Hawk. Pom Pom looked at the sign and said, "Wow! This is going to be a great match! To the arena."

So Pom Pom went inside and when she got in her seat in the audience, Jolene came in and said, "Good afternoon, fight fans! Are you ready for another great day of battles here at the Glitz Pit?"

The entire arena agreed with her as they cheered. Jolene smiled at the sight and said, "Now that's what I'm talking about! For our first fight of the day, we have the Yoshi Kid facing off against Rawk Hawk!"

And on her cue, the Yoshi Kid and Rawk Hawk entered the arena with the crowd cheering for these two fighters. Pom Pom looked at them and gave it a nice cheer, too.

Jolene walked on over to the gong and said, "Now it is time to start the match and to do that, I will need a volunteer from the audience."

Just then, the spotlight is searching for an assistant as the crowd is waiting for someone. Jolene looked at a Boom Boom and said, "How about that Boom Boom with blonde hair. Come on down and join me."

Pom Pom was overjoyed when the spotlight shone on her. Then she spun in her shell and sped her way to the arena as the crowd cheered.

When she got there, Pom Pom jumped up and took center stage as she made a perfect landing. Jolene came to her and said, "What is your name?"

"The name's Pom Pom, Jolene," she replied, "And I'm so happy to see you in person! I've been watching these matches on TV and they were awesome!"

"I see you're enjoying the excitement of this place and now that you're here, I have a very special surprise for you."

"Cool! What is it?"

"Well as you know, Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door turns 18 this year and to commemorate this special occasion, I want you to be an official for today!"

"Me?"

"That's right! Pom Pom... YOU'RE THE REFEREE FOR TODAY'S MATCHES!"

Everyone in the arena cheered very loudly as Pom Pom jumped for joy. Then she gave Jolene a huge hug and said, "Thank you, Jolene! I love being the referee for the day and it is perfect for this amazing occasion. This place first appeared in The Thousand-Year Door 18 years ago."

"I know," Jolene replied, "I had a great time being the referee and I'm so happy to see Mario battle it out in this place during his adventure. Good times. Well Pom Pom, this is it! The first fight is about to begin so, would you like to do the honors?"

Pom Pom looked at the gong in the distance and with a huge smile, she said, "It would be my pleasure!"

"All right, then! And now, here to start our first match of the day is our special guest referee... POM POM!"

And on her cue, the crowd cheered very loudly as Pom Pom took a huge bow before walking on over to the gong. Then with a smile, she said, "Fighters, are you ready?"

"Ready, Pom Pom," Rawk Hawk and Yoshi replied.

"Glitz Pit, are you ready?"

The entire arena agreed with her as they are cheering with excitement.

Pom Pom picked up her hammer, smiled to herself and said, "All right, then! To commemorate the 18th anniversary of Paper Mario: The-Thousand Year Door, the battle will begin in 3..."

Yoshi took his fighting stance.

"2..."

Rawk Hawk looked at him as he took his stance.

"1..."

As the crowd grew very silent, it all comes down to this. Just one single word separates the fighters and the sound of the gong

After a few moments of waiting, everything is ready. Pom Pom held on to the hammer, took a deep breath and with a perfect swing...

It is time.

"FIGHT!"

GONG!

And on her cue, the gong crashed and both fighters rushed to each other as the battle begins. Pom Pom looked at the fight and said with a smile, "Eighteen years of fighting in the Glitz Pit and I love it! This is what I like to call the best stadium in Glitzville!"

And so, Pom Pom is enjoying the match as Yoshi and Rawk Hawk used their fighting moves to battle each other.
