Chip Flip Battle: Peach vs. Daisy
On a perfect sunny day at Peach's Castle, Peach and Daisy are having a great time playing Mario Party 4 in the Game Room as themselves when suddenly, Peach has a bright idea. She smiled at Daisy and said, "Do you want to play Goomba's Chip Flip?"
"Sure," Daisy replied, "But where can we play that game?"
"Don't worry. The Game Room has plenty of surprises and I know where it is. To the Minigame Arena!"
With that, Peach and Daisy ran as fast as they could to the Minigame Arena for a great round of Chip Flip.
When they got there, they saw a friendly Goomba running the game. He said, "Hey there, you two. Welcome to my Chip Flip game. What brings you here?"
"We're here to play because we've been doing this since Mario Party 4," Peach replied with a smile.
"Well, you came to the right place because for today's match, it will be the battle of the princesses. Now here's how the game works. In front of you is a gameboard with twenty scoring chips and each one has a point value. We have four 5-point chips, four 10-point chips, four 15-point chips, four 20-point chips, and four 50-point chips. Both of you will take turns choosing chips and whatever amount is behind it will be added to your total score. There's no time limit in this game and the first player to score 100 points, wins. Got it?"
"Got it." Peach and Daisy agreed at the same time.
"All right, then. Now to decide who goes first, we'll do a coin toss," Goomba said as he took out a coin, "We have a heart on one side, and a daisy on the other. Whichever symbol is shown face up will get the first pick. Ready?"
"Go for it, Goomba," Daisy answered with a thumbs up.
"Then here we go!"
With that, Goomba flipped the coin and then, it landed on a heart. Goomba looked at the results and said, "Well Peach, it looks like you'll be going first. So, are you ready to play Goomba's Chip Flip?"
"We're ready to play, Goomba," Peach and Daisy replied.
"Okay, then! Let's shuffle the chips and start the game!"
And on his cue, the chips are all shuffled up and placed facedown on a 4-by-5 gameboard to officially start the game. Then Goomba smiled and said, "All right, Peach. Go ahead and pick a chip."
Peach agreed with him as she came to the fifteenth chip. Then with a nice ground pound, it revealed a twenty as Goomba said, "Twenty points for Peach."
The scoreboard saw it as Peach scored the first twenty points of the game.
"Your turn, Daisy," Goomba said as Daisy came to the board, "Take your pick."
Daisy ran to the twentieth chip and scored twenty with a nice ground pound.
"That's twenty for Daisy and this game is tied," Goomba announced as the scoreboard updates the total score to make it 20-20.
Then it was time for the next round as Goomba said, "Round 2! Peach, you're up!"
Peach looked at the 18 remaining chips and ground pounded the ninth chip to give her fifty big points.
"That's fifty points for Peach," Goomba said as the scoreboard did its work to make it 70-20, "All right, Daisy. Your turn!"
Daisy smiled and with a nice ground pound, the seventh chip was revealed and it scores her five. Daisy looked at it and said, "Only five points? I can take that!"
Just then, the scoreboard updates the game and now it shows 70-25 with Peach in the lead after two rounds.
"Round 3," Goomba said as Peach came back to the board for her third pick. She came to the tenth chip and with a nice ground pound, it gave her twenty more points.
Daisy took her turn and with a nice smile, it gave her fifty points from the sixth chip.
The scoreboard saw it and after a great round, it updates the score to make it 90-75 in favor of Peach.
"Now it is time to start the fourth round and Peach, you're just ten points away from winning the game," Goomba said to Peach, "Are you up for it?"
"I'll try," Peach replied as she came to the board.
After a few moments of consideration, she ground pounded the twelfth chip and it has a point value of five.
Then it was Daisy's turn and with a perfect ground pound, the eighth chip was revealed and with that, the game is now tied thanks to a 20-point chip.
Goomba looked at the scoreboard and said, "Ladies and gentlemen, we have a tie game! Peach and Daisy have scored 95 points each and now, it is time to decide the winner with one final ground pound! Ladies, would you please come and join me?"
Peach and Daisy agreed with him as they came to the board. Then Goomba said, "Well Peach and Daisy, here we are at the final round and because this game is tied at 95, we will now decide the winner with one final Ground Pound and here's how it works. Both of you will choose one final chip and once you've locked in with your choice, I'll do a countdown. Once I say 'Ground Pound', you'll flip on the chip and the winner will be decided. Got it?"
"Got it," Peach and Daisy replied with a smile.
"All right, then. Remember, this is for the game. Good luck to the both of you and have fun. Peach and Daisy, pick your final chip!"
With that, Peach and Daisy came to the board and after a few moments of thinking, they've made their decision as they selected their chips; Peach on Chip #1, and Daisy on Chip #2.
Goomba looked at the sight and said, "Well ladies, this is it! The decision has been made and now, it is time to flip the chip and crown a winner! Ready?"
"We're ready, Goomba," Peach replied.
"Let's do this," Daisy added.
"All right, then! You may ground pound the chip in three..."
Peach looked at her chip.
"Two..."
Daisy checked her chip very carefully.
"One..."
Both ladies took their positions, took a deep breath and then...
It is time.
"GROUND POUND!"
With the words shouted, Peach and Daisy jumped up to the chip and then...
POUND!
The chips have been revealed as they did a ground pound at the same time.
Goomba looked at the final results and said, "And that's the game! Peach has scored ten points, and Daisy has scored five! That means Peach is the winner!"
With that, the game is won by Peach as the scoreboard updates the final score to make it 105-100. Daisy smiled at her and said, "Good game, Peach."
"Same to you, Daisy," Peach replied with a smile as they shook hands for a great game. "This game is awesome and I love it! Say, do you want to play another round?"
"You know it."
Then they said to Goomba, "Goomba, we're ready to play another game."
"All right, then. Let's reset the board and start the second game! Shuffle the chips!"
And so, the chips are shuffled up once again as Peach and Daisy enjoy a nice round of Goomba's Chip Flip.
