Daisy's Big Free Throw
One shot. That's all it takes to score a game-winning basket and on a perfect day in Mario Stadium, a basketball game was taking place between the Daisy Flowers and the Koopa Strikers.
Everyone is the stadium is gearing up for the final basket as a Toad announcer said, "What a game this has been, folks. With the score tied at 99 thanks to Daisy's basket and with no time left in the fourth quarter, it all comes down to this. One single free throw separates her and the win. Everyone is looking forward to this historic moment as Daisy steps up to the free throw line for the final shot of the game. Will she make it? We're about to find out!"
On the court, Daisy is gearing up for the all important shot with her basketball gear and to make it exciting, both teams are standing behind half court.
Just then, a friendly Lakitu referee came in with the basketball and said, "Well Daisy, this is it! You've scored the basket and since there's no time left in regulation, you've earned the right to shoot a free throw for the game. If the shot is good, you win. If not, we go to overtime with five extra minutes. Now before we do that, I just want to say that you've played a great game and no matter what happens, just have fun and enjoy the game. So, are you ready for this?"
Daisy smiled at him and said, "You know it! Let's finish this game!"
"All right, then. You have one shot. Good luck."
With that, Lakitu passed the ball to Daisy and then, the crowd grew silent.
Daisy looked at the basket as she bounced the ball five times for her preparation.
After a few moments of bouncing, Daisy is ready to shoot. She looked at the basket very carefully, took careful aim and then...
It is time.
WHOOSH!
As soon as Daisy jumps for the basket, she released the ball from her hands as the entire stadium turns their attention at the ball. It all comes down to this, the final shot of the game.
With the ball now soaring in the air, everything is now in slow motion. It is only a matter of time before it reaches the basket.
And then, the big moment has arrived. Daisy looked at the ball as it moves closer and closer to the basket with the entire crowd standing up to their feet. This process takes five seconds and then...
It happened.
SWISH!
The basketball went into the basket as a huge swish is heard all across the stadium and with that, the free throw has been made.
Lakitu smiled at the sight, took a deep breath and then...
He made his official announcement.
"SCORE! THE FLOWERS WIN!"
"She did it," The Toad announcer said to the cheering crowd as the scoreboard shows 100-99 to finish the game, "Daisy scored the game-winner to make it 100 to 99! The Flowers have won thanks to Daisy's free throw! What a finish!"
Daisy jumped for joy as the Toads mobbed her for winning the game. Then with a smile, she said to the readers, "Now that is what I call a perfect shot!"
