Back to Duel
"Here we are. Year 2 at Duel Academy." Jaden narrates. "Somehow I passed all my finals and I'm chillin in the Slifer Red Dorm again."
"Jaden, uh, who are you talking to?" Syrus asked.
"Well, my fans, I guess..."
"I think we should let the readers read for themselves, Jaden." Andrew suggested.
"Yeah... good point."
Down near the Duel Academy Docks, there were two people rushing over there. One one of them was the blue clad, ponytailed blonde man known as Dr. Velian Crowler, head of the Obelisk Blue Dorm. The other person was a short, fat, bald man wearing a greenish blazer and had short brown hair in the back of his head. He also had a thin, curled mustache that matched his eyebrows.
"Keep up you Swedish meatball! They're almost here!" Crowler exclaimed.
"I'm French you imbecile!" The other man retorted with a French accent. "Pardoné moi for not having longer legs! Besides, what's the rush about?"
"I told you! The freshmen! Their boat is arriving as we speak!"
"So big whoop. Just cause you've been promoted to school Chancellor, all of a sudden you care?"
(Pause scene)
"What?! Crowler's the new Chancellor? That's crazy!" Andrew exclaimed. "As for the short guy, he's Vice Chancellor Bonaparte. I didn't even know there was a Vice Chancellor..."
"Andrew, now you're the one narrating." Jenny interrupted.
"Oops, sorry!"
(Play scene)
"Surely you didn't drag me out here just to greet the new students, so fess up, Monsieur!" Bonaparte demanded.
"Feast your eyes on this!" Crowler laughed and brought up some kind of magazine.
"Did I miss the joke?" The Vice Chancellor questioned.
"Are you calling Aster Phoenix a joke?" Crowler opened up the magazine and showed him a picture of a young man in a silver formal wear with white button-up sleeves, a black shirt underneath, a loosely-fitting necktie. He had grey hair that was sectioned in two layers, his bangs forming one layer and the rest the other. And his eyes were blue. "Not only is this superstar the top-ranked duelist in the entire world, he's joined the freshman class of our very school!"
"There must be a mistake." Bonaparte claimed, even though he seemed amazed at the thought. "I mean, a world class professional going back to school? But why?"
"I don't know. But with a celebrity under my tutelage, I'll be famous!" Crowler squealed. "After all, everyone on Earth knows Aster Phoenix!"
Down the cliffside outside the Slifer Red Dorm.
"Hey kid! I don't know who you are, but let's duel!" A brunette boy in a Slifer Red jacket named Jaden Yuki said to the person across him, who he didn't know was Aster Phoenix. "Wrong catchphrase. What I meant to say was... get your game on!"
On top of the cliff were three poeple watching the duel about to commence. "Day one and Jaden's already dueling." Said the first person. It was the pink and blue clad woman known as Ms. Dorothy, the owner of Duel Academy's card shop. She was carrying a brown cat named Pharaoh. The house pet that used to belong to the late Professor Lyman Banner.
"Yeah, but who?" Asked the second person, who was a boy with messy light-brown hair, dark brown eyes, and a pair of mechanic glassed strapped around his forehead. He was wearing a Slifer Red jacket over a grey sweater and a pair of overalls. This was the mechanic and machine duelist, Xander Murphy.
"Beats me, but he definitely looks familiar." Replied the other Slifer Red boy who was short with light-blue hair and glasses. This one was Syrus Truesdale."
"So what's your name, freshman?" Jaden asked his opponent.
"You can call me AP." He replied.
"Alright, AP, let's throw down!"
Both duelists activated their duel disks and drew their opening hands.
Jaden: 4000
Aster: 4000
"Wow, Jaden doesn't waste any time, does he?" A female voice stated. That voice belonged to the sandy blonde Obelisk girl named Alexis Rhodes, who approached the group.
And she wasn't the only one. Another person came along with her. It was the black coat wearing, black-haired guy named Chazz Princeton. "It figures he challenged a freshman." He scoffed.
"Actually..." Syrus spoke up. "That guy challenged him. He just showed up in our dorm room and was all, 'I'm here to throw down with the best duelist in the academy. And from what I hear, that's Jaden Yuki.' And that brings us here. Now take a close look. I could swear I've seen that guy before." He said as Aster drew his sixth card.
"Well, let's see what you got, freshman!" Jaden said with a grin.
"You're right." Alexis said, feeling like she recognized Jaden's opponent.
"Yeah, he does look familiar." Chazz added.
Xander gave him a grin. "I know. Maybe he graduated from that prep school of yours."
"Good call." Syrus replied, smiling to the black clad Slifer. "He definitely looks rich enough and stuck-up enough."
"Look shrimp, he's nothing like me!" Chazz retorted.
"Ojama Yellow in defense mode!"
He then fell over as 'AP' summoned one of his known monsters. A yellow creature with eye stalks wearing red bikini briefs, crossing his arms. (ATK: 0 DEF: 1000 LV: 2)
"Ojama?" Jaden wondered. "Are you sure?"
"Told you we're not alike." Chazz said. "That's gotta be one of the dumbest moves I've ever seen. I would never start out with a lame card like that."
At that moment, the spirit of Ojama Yellow appeared near his shoulder. "You save the best for last. Right, Boss, right?"
"Wrong, now beat it, pit-stain!"
"I love it when you use my pet name." The spirit vanished.
"Excuse me?" Alexis asked angrily. Which would be expected since she couldn't see duel spirits.
"Oh! Uh... nothing." Chazz said in fear.
"Whatevs..." She shrugged while Chazz held up his dueling deck and gave it a glare. "Anyway, I wonder what else he has in his deck."
"Not much, I bet." Dorothy replied.
"Wait! How do you know that?" Xander asked.
"It's simple. He just assembled that deck this morning from random cards in the campus card shop.
Flashback
Aster showed up in the card shop.
"Sorry, store isn't open till next week." Dorothy apologized.
"I just need a few cards." Aster said.
Ms. Dorothy frowned. "Oh, I haven't even stocked the shelves yet."
"Then I'll just take whatever is lying around." Aster shrugged. "I can win a duel with pretty much anything."
Moments later, he was sitting near a table, looking over the cards he got from a bunch of booster packs. "Perfect."
"No offense, but you won't last too long at this school if you build your deck like that." Ms. Dorothy stated.
"I'll be fine. Besides, this is just a temporary deck... for a little test."
Flashback end
"It's true." Dorothy finished.
"Give me a break." Chazz scoffed. "Who duels with leftover cards?"
"Asks the guy who once used cards that were left in a well in the forest." Xander pointed out.
"Shut up!"
Alrighty, here goes!" Jaden drew his sixth card and looked over his. hand. "Looks like class is in session, so meet your teacher! Elemental HERO Sparkman!" A hero in a blue and golden outfit with a visor appeared, emanating some electricity. (ATK: 1600 DEF: 1400 LV: 4) "Okay, freshman. I think it's time for your first Duel Academy lesson!" The hero jumped up in the air and fired a bolt of lightning from his right palm that easily destroyed the Ojama. "Some things you gotta learn the hard way, right? But trust me, I can teach you way more than some lame school lecture."
'AP' pretended to be impressed. "Wow! So I guess it's true. You are as good as they say."
"Thanks for the props. But when you play cards like Ojama, you don't exactly make it too tough."
"He's right." Chazz said, smirking to Syrus and Xander.
"What'd you do? Take lessons from Chazz or something?"
And once again, he fell over while his two fellow Slifers snickered.
"Let's try again, shall we?" 'AP' drew and looked over his hand. 'Soon I'll learn all of Jaden's strategies. All I have to do is continue to play weak cards.' He inserted a card into his duel disk. "I'll place this facedown and..."
Suddenly, a ringing tone went off.
"What's the deal?" Jaden blinked.
"It's cool. Just my cell phone!" 'AP' replied and pulled out the cell phone in question.
Jaden groaned in disbelief.
"It's me. What up?" He answered. "Nah, I'm not busy at all." That actually made Jaden annoyed.
And Chazz was annoyed as well. "Who whips out a cell phone in the middle of a duel?! That's obnoxious!"
"Yeah, no joke. He really is like you Chazz!" Syrus replied.
Jaden tried to cool off. "Calm down, he's a freshman. You were a crazy kid like him last year, Jaden." He said to himself before taking a deep breath. "You know, I didn't even think we got reception out here."
"That't right." 'AP' said, still on the phone. "Yeah, I'm dueling him as we speak."
"Excellent." Said the person on the other line. He was inside a white room in an unknown place. He wore a white cloak and had some tarot cards on a table in front of him.
"So, any last minute words of advice?' 'AP' asked.
The cloaked man turned over a card. It had a picture of a grim reaper with a long scythe. But it was upside down.
"The Reaper of Souls is in reverse. You know what must be done."
"Absolutely. Thanks for the call." 'AP' shut off his cell phone and turned to Jaden.
"Alright! Get your phone off and get your game on!" Jaden exclaimed. "So, you're gonna actually play a good card this time, right?"
"Oh, you mean something like this one?" 'AP' held up one of his cards. "It's a spell card called Reload! And here's how it works, first I toss all my cards, then I put them right back in my deck and redraw." At that, he started shuffling his remaining cards into his deck.
"Wait, so you're getting a do-over?" Jaden questioned.
"You said yourself I needed better cards. So I thought I'd start over."
"I knew that! Way to follow my advice, freshman!" Jaden sighed. "Being a mentor is hard work." He then focused on his opponent. "So tell me, what else have you learned from dueling an upperclassman like me?"
Once he was done shuffling, 'AP' drew his new hand and looked at it. "This." He grabbed one of the cards. "I play The Sanctuary in the Sky!" After a blinding flash of light, both duelists, as well as the spectators, found themselves on a field of clouds, with a white stone palace standing right behind 'AP'.
"So, you played a big building on some clouds, huh." Jaden commented. "Exactly what I would have done. Glad I could help."
"So then I guess you knew I'd play this: Warrior of Zera!" A warrior with a green armored chest plat, helmet and arm guards and blue pants appeared. He held a blue sword. (ATK: 1600 DEF: 1600 LV: 4)
"Oooh, Jaden is in big trouble now." Xander muttered.
"What do you mean?" Syrus asked.
"Let's just say that warrior happens to work well with his field spell." Alexis replied.
At that moment, a blueish light enveloped Warrior of Zera. "But here's a little twist for you. I'm sacrificing it to summon Archlord Zerato!" After a couple of seconds, Zera ascended in a much different form. He was now an angel-like warrior with light-purple skin wearing a red scarf and a lighter green helmet with a red mask over his face. He also carried a cutlass sword. (ATK: 2800 DEF: 2300 LV: 8)
'AP' moved on by discarding the remaining card in his hand. "And here's a little something else you might not have expected. I decided to send my Mystical Shine Ball to the graveyard. And it takes all your monsters with it." The top of the palace fired a beam of light that destroyed Sparkman. "And now, Archlord Zerato! Strike his life points directly! Sacred Surge!" Zeratos' wings glowed before he fired glowing feather around Jaden who braced himself.
Jaden: 4000-1200
"That's gonna leave a mark." Xander remarked.
"Yeah, like this one time at duel camp when an Archlord attacked me..."
"Zip it, twerp!" Chazz interrupted Syrus.
As they argued, Zerato descended to the ground. "That's all for now." 'AP' concluded. He then noticed that Jaden was done to one knee. "Hey, you okay?"
"Okay? You kidding?" Jaden grinned.
"Uh, no."
"I've been waiting all summer for a match like this. And the best part is it's my move!" He drew. "So I summon Elemental HERO Clayman in defense mode!" A big humanoid figure made of stone appeared and kneeled down. He had a round red head. (ATK: 800 DEF: 2000 LV: 4) "And next, I activate my Metamorphosis spell card! Then I sacrifice Clayman to summon Elemental HERO Clay Guardian!" The hero was swallowed by a pillar of light and transformed. He was nearly resembling a football player as per the helmet on his head. He now had additional armor like shoulder guards plus a red shield to block with. (ATK: 0 DEF: 2800 LV: 4) "Patrol Penalty!"
"What's that?" 'AP' wondered before he suddenly felt some invisible force strike him.
Aster: 4000-3400
"Tell me!"
"I'd be glad to. You see, you just lost 600 points. 200 for each of your cards. Now I'll throw down a facedown." A card appeared near Jaden's feet. "And then, I think I'll call it quits. Now let me lay it down for ya. Your first problem is you managed to use every card in you hand. Exhibit B: Your Archlord has the same number of points as my Clay Guardian has. So your chance of winning is like 95 %."
"Excuse me, Oh Wise One. but aren't those good odds?" 'AP' asked.
Jaden laughed upon that realization. "I was just testing ya."
"Smooth move..." Alexis said, sweat dropping.
"How did that kid get past the review board?" Chazz wondered.
"Wait, so you mean his math was wrong?" Syrus asked.
"Well, he's better in dueling than doing math." Xander shrugged.
"All I need now is a monster that's stronger than yours. So let's see what fate has in store for me." 'AP' announced.
"It's not about fate. It's about listening." Jaden said. "Take me. I'm always listening to what my cards have to say."
"You really are nuts." 'AP' retorted. "You expect me to have a conversation with my cards?"
"Yeah, try using your cell. Maybe send a text message. Hey, they might just answer."
"Coo!" The brown-furred spirit with white wings named Winged Kuriboh hooted as it appeared right next to Jaden.
Aster had some thoughts of his own. 'This Jaden kid is not what I expected at all. I mean, he gives useless advice, he can't compute a simple math problem, and to top it all off, he hears voices in his head. Guess it's time to end this duel and move on with my life...'
Back in the white dorm, the cloaked man flipped over another tarot card, revealing a knight. riding a white two-headed snake horse hybrid.
"Ah, the inverted chariot. A warning that the end is near..."
Back at the Duel Academy
"Remember freshman, listen to your deck." Jaden said to his opponent.
"Whatever..." 'AP' drew his next card, and looked at it with a look of disdain.
"Bad card, huh?" Jaden asked. "You might want to work on that poker face a bit."
"Perhaps, or maybe I just want you to think I drew a bad card. Or could it be I don't want to win?" He asked enigmatically.
"And you call me nuts."
"When you accepted my challenge, did you ever stop and ask yourself, 'What do I want? Why did I come here?', and most importantly, 'Out of everyone here, why did I challenge you?'. Well the truth is I heard you were the best and I came here to test you."
"You can't be serious. Hello! This is Duel Academy, bro. They give us tests in this place every day, but they're never as sweet as this!"
"Of course they're not. Cuz this one's not about grades. It's about destiny."
"What?" Jaden gave him a confused look right before 'AP' revealed his facedown card.
"Maybe my Beckoning Light will clear things up! Here's the deal, once I toss out my hand, a light attribute monster returns to my hand." He discarded his only card before Mystical Shine Ball came out of his graveyard slot. "Then I'll use Zerato's effect again. And you know what that means, don't you? Your Guardian's a goner! See ya!" He discarded the monster card, causing the stone palace to fire another beam of light that destroyed Jaden's monster.
"Whoa, not bad." Jaden commented.
"You think that's impressive, watch this. Archlord, attack him directly! Sacred Surge!" Zerato took flight as his wings started to glow again.
"Your Archlord's gonna have to chill for a sec. Cuz I play The Flute of Summoning Kuriboh!" Jaden's facedown card flipped up. "Which, if you couldn't tell, summons a Kuriboh." At that, Winged Kuriboh appeared on his field. (ATK: 300 DEF: 200 LV: 1) And then, Zerato flapped his wings and fired glowing feathers that rained down on Jaden's field until one of them destroyed his trusty duel spirit. "Thank for taking the hit, pal." He muttered. "Now then, what was all that business back there about destiny?"
"It's simple." 'AP' replied. "Everything that happens to us is planned out the day we're born. Losers are born to be losers, and legends are born to be legends."
"Legend? Who, me?" Jaden asked before feeling embarrassed. "Oh, come on! Hero, perhaps. or maybe teen idol!" He then laughed.
"Someone stop him." Alexis sighed.
"Well, at least he's having fun." Syrus commented.
"That's true." Xander added.
"Glad someone is." Chazz said sarcastically.
Jaden stopped laughing a bit. "I'm a superstar. Who knew? Well, I guess I did."
Meanwhile, 'AP' was thinking to a conversation he had with the cloaked man he talked to on phone earlier...
Flashback
Aster stood in front of the table with the Chariot card upside down. "Once you locate this Jaden Yuki, he is to defeat you. Understood? It's the only way I can be certain that he's one of the two we've been looking for. Trust me, it's for the best."
"There's gotta be another way. I've never thrown a duel."
"Aster, have I ever once steered you wrong? You must trust me."
Flashback end
'How can a manager tell his star player to lose?' He mentally questioned.
"Alright! It's the legend's turn! So stand back!" Jaden drew his next card and looked at it. "Sweet! I play Elemental HERO Bubbleman!" A blue-armored hero appeared with a white cape with some kind of gun with water hoses attached to his right arm. (ATK: 800 DEF: 1200 LV: 4) "If my field's empty, which it just so happens to be, then I get to draw two new cards from my deck." I throw down a facedown..." A card appeared near his feet. "And then play this!" He held up a spell card. "The Warrior Returning Alive! Which means that one of my warriors... well, returns... you know, alive." The Sparkman card came out of his graveyard slot. "And now, I play Polymerization! How about that?"
Aste remained silent.
"So the legend rendered you speechless, eh? Well this ought to get a reaction! I fuse Bubbleman, Avian and Sparkman..." A hero in a green suit with white feather wings appeared along with the electric hero before swirling together with the blue hero. "...in order to create Elemental HERO Tempest!" From a flash of light, a new hero appeared. He was a muscular man wearing a dark blue armor, had untamed green hair and a blue visor covering his eyes. He had wide green wings with metallic feathers and in the place of his right forearm, was a silver cannon. (ATK: 2800 DEF: 2800 LV: 8) "Ready? Attack!" The hero took flight. "Put him away with Glider Strike!" Using his cannon, he fired a powerful beam of blue energy.
"He'll lose!" Syrus exclaimed.
"Uh, no he won't." Alexis replied.
"What's wrong, you didn't learn that in summer school?" Chazz taunted.
Syrus had an embarrassed look.
"I'm sure you know. All I have to do is send one of my field cards to the graveyard. That way, my Tempest can't be destroyed!" Jaden's facedown card vanished as Tempest's attack destroyed Zerato without any difficulties. "Now for the encore. Check this out!" Jaden held up his remaining card. "De-Fusion! It transforms my Tempest back into Sparkman, Avian and Bubbleman!" The hero glowed green before splitting apart into his fusion materials. (ATK: 1600 DEF: 1400 LV: 4) (ATK: 1000 DEF: 1000 LV: 3) (ATK: 800 DEF: 1200 LV: 4)
"Looks like this is the end." Xander commented.
"Bubbleman, you're up first!" The blue-armored hero fired a stream of bubbles at Aster.
Aster: 3400-2600
"Avian! Quill Cascade!" And next, the green hero fired white feathers that rained down on him.
Aster: 2600-1600
"Now, Sparkman! Finish him off with Static Shockwave!" The final hero zapped him with an electric charge, forcing him down to one knee.
Aster: 1600-0000
"That's game!" Jaden as the holograms vanished before approaching him. "Hey, uh, I hope my triple threat didn't rock you too hard.
"Nah, I'm fine. Nice game." Aster said while standing up.
"Right on! You had some pretty sweet moves!" Jaden praised. "Not bad, for a freshman, that is."
"Gee, thanks."
"You just keep on practicing, kid. Maybe you'll even be a legend someday. You know, like me." Jaden laughed a bit. "But that's a long way off. First, you have to stop being so cocky. I mean, I'm great, but you don't see me bragging."
"What a duel, huh guys?" Dorothy asked. "And that new mystery student is quite the looker, don't you think? Did anyone catch his name?"
"AP?" Syrus replied.
"That does sound familiar for some reason." Xander pondered.
"So, I guess I'll see you around, AP!" Jaden called out and waved to Aster who walked away.
He contemplated on Jaden's actions. 'I don't get it. Sure, this Jaden kid is a decent duelist, but I don't see why my manager's so obsessed with him. And I still don't understand how joining this school is gonna help my career. But I guess Sartorius knows best.'
He glanced to the spectators. Dorothy was the only one waving to him, which he smiled and nodded.
"Don't be a stranger, stranger." She called out as he left.
"So, what'd you guys think of my first duel of the year?" Jaden asked as he joined them. "It was pretty sweet, huh? Well, spill it."
"You rocked! Way to play, Jay!" Syrus praised.
"Yeah, nicely played!" Xander added.
"Anyone who thinks you're a legend isn't the sharpest tack in the box." Chazz stated.
"Maybe, but he was kind of cute." Alexis noted.
"Uh, didn't notice." Jaden said, rubbing the back of his head. "Anyway, I'm sure we haven't seen the last of AP."
"Hey, wait!" Syrus spoke up. "He said his name was 'AP'." He then kneeled down and opened his bag, form which he pulled out a red magazine. And after taking a looking at its pages. "I knew it! He's... Aster Phoenix!"
"Okay? So, he's got a weird name." Jaden shrugged.
"Jaden, think!" Alexis said. "Aster Phoenix is the number 1 duelist in the world league! As in he's a pro!"
"You're kidding me!" Chazz said in shock before correcting himself. "I mean, of course! You didn't know that?"
"Seriously?" Xander muttered. "Does this mean Jaden defeated a pro duelist?"
Jaden grinned. "Looks like the pro took a schooling from a student!"
"Uh, Jaden?" Dorothy interrupted. "I should probably tell you that wasn't Aster's real deck. He put it together this morning."
"He what? You mean I just dueled a guy who was using leftover cards?" Jaden sulked.
"Cheer up." Syrus said.
"At least you won." Alexis added.
"That's right, you legend you." Chazz said sarcastically.
"Oh yeah! You're right." Jaden brightened a bit. "And now I have a rematch to look forward to. Hey Aster! This game is still on!"
Meanwhile at the Obelisk Blue Dorm.
"Alright. You ready?" Andrew asked getting his duel disk ready as he faced his opponent.
And that person was Clover, who gave him a competitive look. "You bet I am."
And there were four people watching this nearby. Two of them were Jenny and Shiori. One of the other two people was a guy in an Obelisk Blue uniform with short blonde hair and brown eyes. This was the spellcaster duelist Kaito Sherman.
The other person was another guy clad in blue whose hair was purple and slightly spiky and had grey eyes. This was the dark duelist, Micheal Kageyama.
"Looks like the two them are at it again." Shiori remarked.
"Well, they've been rivals since their childhood, so can you blame them?" Michael shrugged.
"That's true." Kaito agreed.
"By the way, how'd summer treat ya?"
"Oh pretty good. My folks were really glad to see me again after I've been gone for so long. My mother was smothering me the entire time."
"Go get her, Andrew!" Jenny called out.
"You got it!" He gave her a thumbs up.
"Don't get your hopes up." Clover said with a smirk. "Cuz we both know that you won't beat me so easily."
"We'll see!" Andrew retorted as they both drew their opening hands.
"GAME ON!"
Andrew: 4000
Clover: 4000
"The first move is mine! Here goes!" Clover drew her sixth card and looked over her hand before revealing one of her cards. "I play the spell card, Card Advance. This lets me take a look at the top 5 cards in my deck and put them back in any order I want." She drew the top 5 cards and looked at them. She then rearranged them and put them back. "And that's not all. My spell card lets me tribute summon this turn in addition to my normal summon. So first I summon Tasuke Knight!" A knight of some kind rose up on her field, wearing red armor. (ATK: 1700 DEF: 100 LV: 4) "Then I'll sacrifice him..." The knight vanished. "To summon Kaiser Glider!" From a flash of light, a dragon appeared with a roar. Its body was entirely made of gold. (ATK: 2400 DEF: 2200 LV: 6) "I place two cards facedown and end my turn." Two cards appeared near Clover's feet.
"A nice start." Andrew complimented before drawing his sixth card. "As for me, I'll start by playing the spell card Polymerization!" A fusion vortex appeared. "And with it, I'll fuse Elemental HERO Stratos and Shadow Mist together..." Two heroes appeared in front of the vortex. One of them was a warrior clad in blue and silver armor with turbine wings. The other one was a woman with long black hair clad in black armor. They then swirled together. "... and create the Elemental HERO Great Tornado!" The monster that emerged from the vortex was a warrior in green, black and yellow armor with a tattered black cloak hanging over his left shoulder. (ATK: 2800 DEF: 2200 LV: 8)
"Looks like both of them decided to start big, huh." Michael commented.
"They sure live up to their rivalry." Shiori added.
"And now I activate Shadow Mist's special ability! Whenever she's sent to the graveyard, I can take 1 HERO monster from my deck and add it to my hand." Andrew fanned his deck out and grabbed a card. "Liquid Soldier will do. And then there's Great Tornado's special ability! Downburst!" The yellow parts of the hero's armor glowed. And then, Kaiser Glider was suddenly trapped within a whirlwind as it roared. "As soon as Great Tornado is fusion summoned, the attack and defense points of all your monsters are cut in half." (ATK: 2400-1200 DEF: 2200-1100)
"Nice one, Andrew!" Jenny cheered.
"And now I summon Elemental HERO Liquid Soldier in attack mode!" Water erupted from the ground like a geyser before another hero appeared. He was wearing a bluish dark-grey suit with some armor in lighter blue and silver linings. including a visor. He also had glass balls on his wrists that seemed to be filled with water. (ATK: 1400 DEF: 1300 LV: 4) "And when this guy is normal summoned, I'm allowed to summon a level 4 or lower HERO monster from my graveyard. And I choose Elemental HERO Stratos!" The hero with turbine wings appeared. (ATK: 1800 DEF: 300 LV: 4) "And with him summoned to the field, I can destroy one spell or trap card for every other HERO monster on my field. So thanks to Great Tornado and Liquid Soldier, you lose your two facedown cards!"
"Before that happens, I reveal one of them!" One of Clover's facedown cards flipped up. "Reckless Greed! This trap card lets me draw two cards from my deck." She drew.
"Even so, my Stratos' effect is on!" The propellers on the hero's wings started to rotate and then created whirlwinds that blew Clover's cards away. "And now, I'll attack! Liquid Soldier, destroy Kaiser Glider! Hydro Shot!" The water hero thrusted both of his palms and fired a stream of water that hit the golden dragon in the dead center, making it explode.
Clover: 4000-3800
"And now you're wide open!"
Clover smirked. "Don't get ahead of yourself!"
Andrew looked confused before Great Tornado was engulfed by a bright light. "What the...?!" After a moment, the light died down, and the hero was gone. "What just happened?"
"My Kaiser Glider's special ability. As soon as it's destroyed and sent to the graveyard, one monster on the field is forced back to its owner's hand. Or in this case, fusion deck."
"And here I thought the duel was already over." Kaito commented.
"Like I said, both of them live up to their rivalry." Shiori repeated.
"Okay, didn't see that coming." Andrew admitted. "But I can at least attack with Stratos! Now go!" The turbine winged hero charged forward and landed a right hook on Clover, who grunted after getting a hit on her head.
Clover 3800-2000
"I end my turn with a facedown." Andrew concluded and inserted a card into his duel disk.
"Then it's my turn." Clover declared.
"Don't forget..." Andrew interrupted. "Since you activated Reckless Greed, you have to skip your two upcoming draw phases, including this one."
"I know that." The redhead held up a card from her hand. "Which is why I have Pot of Greed, which lets me draw two more cards." She drew her extra cards and looked at them. "Then I'll summon Horus the Black Flame Dragon LV 4!" A pillar of black flames erupted from the ground. And then, a metallic, bird-like creature emerged. (ATK: 1600 DEF: 1000 LV: 4) "Then I activate the spell card, Level Up! This allows me to select a monster on my field that has the word 'LV' in its name and make it evolve into its next form."
"Uh oh." Jenny let out.
"So now, Horus the Black Flame Dragon LV 4! Time to level up into Horus the Black Flame Dragon LV 6!" The dragon's body glowed brightly while morphing. And, after a few moments, it stopped glowing and was now hovering in the air in a more impressive form. (ATK: 2300 DEF: 1600 LV: 6) "Now attack his Liquid Soldier with Black Flame Burst!" The dragon spat out a torrent of black flames that engulfed the water hero and destroyed him.
Andrew: 4000-3100
"I activate my trap! Hero Signal!" Andrew announced as his facedown card flipped up. "With one of my monsters destroyed, I can summon a level 4 or lower Elemental HERO from my hand or deck. And I choose Elemental HERO Woodsman!" A new monster rose up on his field and kneeled down. A green-skinned man whose right arm and leg were made of wood. (ATK: 1000 DEF: 2000 LV: 4)
Clover smirked and continued. "I'll place one card facedown and activate the spell card, Mirage of Nightmare!" A facedown card appeared along with a spell card. "And then I activate my dragon's special ability! At the end of the same turn it destroyed a monster, it evolves again." The dragon was now enveloped in black flames. "Say hello to Horus the Black Flame Dragon LV 8!" With a mighty roar, the dragon rose up in a new form. It was very big, with arms and legs with claws and a pair of wings on its back. (ATK: 3000 DEF: 1800 LV: 8)
"My turn!" Andrew drew.
"And this is when the effect of my Mirage card kicks in." Clover interrupted. "Now that it's your standby phase, I get to draw until I have four cards in my hand." She drew. "Then I activate the spell card, Emergency Provisions!" Her facedown card flipped up. Right after that, Mirage of Nightmare vanished. "By sending a spell or trap card to the graveyard, I regain 1000 life points."
Clover: 2000-3000
"I get something too. During my standby phase, Woodsman lets me take a Polymerization from either my deck or graveyard and add it to my hand." Andrew fanned his deck out and took the card he wanted. "And I'll use it right away to bring out another fusion monster!" Another fusion vortex appeared.
Clover smirked. "Now, Horus! Activate your special ability!" The dragon spat out a torrent of flames that hit the vortex and made it vanish.
"Huh?" Andrew blinked.
"Looks like you forgot about my dragon's ability. It allows me to negate the activation of any spell card I want."
Andrew slapped his forehead. "Oh, right."
"How could Andrew forget about that?" Jenny asked with a frown.
"Things like that happens sometimes." Kaito shrugged.
"Yeah, but I actually thought he would remember that." Shiori added. "I mean, this happened exactly the same way back in the School Duel last year."
Andrew looked over his hand. 'Guess I'll have to go with a different tactic.' He inserted a card into his duel disk. "I place one card facedown. Then I summon Zombina in defense mode!" From a flash of light, a little girl with zombie-like features appeared. She had a bunch stitches over her body. She had long orange hair that appeared to have stitches as well. It also had a purple ribbon with blue polka dots and a small shovel. Her eyes had orange pupils while the sclera in her eyes were black instead of white. She was wearing a slightly worn out blue dress with a red ribbon tied around her waist and brown shoes. Also, she was carrying a small plushy that had a few stitches, just like her. (ATK: 1400 DEF: 1500 LV: 4) "Then I'll switch Stratos to defense mode and my turn." The turbine winged hero kneeled down.
"Zombina, huh?" Clover smiled fondly before looking over her hand as she skipped her second draw phase. "In that case, I summon Marauding Captain!" A man with short blonde hair appeared. He was wearing a rusty suit of armor and wielded a sword. (ATK: 1200 DEF: 400 LV: 3) "And thanks to his special ability, I can summon a level 4 or below monster from my hand. And I choose Elemental HERO Wildheart!" A dark-skinned, muscled man with a loincloth appeared on the field with a big sword on his back. (ATK: 1500 DEF: 1600 LV: 4)
Andrew smiled at this.
"Then I activate the spell card, Banner of Courage!" A spell card appeared. "During my battle phase, all monsters on my field gain 200 extra attack points." (ATK: 1200-1400) (ATK: 1500-1700) (ATK: 3000-3200) "And now Marauding Captain, destroy his Stratos!" The blonde warrior charged forward and slashed the wind hero with his swords, making him explode. "Wildheart, attack Zombina!" The tribal hero roared as he charged forward and unsheathed his sword. With one swing, the zombie girl was destroyed.
"You triggered Zonbina's special ability! When she's destroyed, I can summon any other level 4 or below monster from my graveyard. I choose Elemental HERO Shadow Mist!" The black armored woman appeared again. (ATK: 1000 DEF: 1500 LV: 4) "And because she was special summoned, I can activate her second ability, which allows me to add a quick-play spell card from my deck to my hand." Andrew fanned his deck out. "But only if that card has the word 'Change' in its name." He then grabbed the card he wanted.
"Hm, that ability, huh." Clover muttered. "Horus, attack his Woodsman with Black Mega Flame!" The dragon spat out a torrent of flames that engulfed the wooden hero completely. There was nothing left of him afterwards. (ATK: 1400-1200) (ATK: 1700-1500) (ATK: 3200-3000) "I place one card facedown..." A card appeared near Clover's feet. "And that ends my turn..."
"Hold on! I play a trap!" Andrew interrupted and revealed his facedown card. "Necro Fusion! This allows me to summon a fusion monster by combining monsters from my graveyard."
"Say what?!" Clover widened her eyes.
"So I'll combine Woodsman and Liquid Soldier!" A fusion vortex appeared as the two named monsters appeared before getting sucked into it. "Now I summon Elemental HERO Absolute Zero!" The new hero that emerged from the vortex was wearing pure white armor and cape. (ATK: 2500 DEF: 2000 LV: 8) "And now I activate Liquid Soldier's effect. Since he was used as a fusion material for a HERO monster, I can draw two cards from my deck and then discard one card." Andrew drew his extra cards, looked at them, and then discarded one of them.
"Looks like Andrew's making a comeback." Michael said, smiling.
"Was there any doubt?" Jenny asked.
"Now it's my turn!" Andrew drew. "I summon Elemental HERO Ocean!" A blue-skinned warrior with a fin on top of his head appeared, wearing whitish armor and wielding a two pronged trident. (ATK: 1500 DEF: 1200 LV: 4) "And this triggers Absolute Zero's special ability! For every water attribute monster on the field, other than himself, he gains 500 extra attack points." The white-armored hero glowed with a blue aura. (ATK: 2500-3000) "Now attack Horus the Black Flame Dragon!" The hero dashed forward.
"Huh? He's going for a mutual kill?" Shiori wondered.
"Well, since that dragon prevents him from using spell cards, that would be the best option." Kaito replied.
As the hero got closer, something appeared from a flash of light. It was the red-armored knight. (ATK: 1700 DEF: 100 LV: 4) And then, a barrier was formed around Clover's field, blocking the hero's attack.
"What's that?" Andrew questioned.
"This is Tasuke Knight's special ability." Clover answered while holding up both of her palms. "If my hand happens to be empty when you attack, I can summon him back from my graveyard and end your battle phase."
"Seriously?" Shiori asked. "Man, that's a tricky effect. It'll be troublesome for Andrew if that monster ends up in the grave again."
"Nah, that won't be a problem." Michael said. "Tasuke's Knight's ability only works once in an entire duel. After that, it won't work again."
"Oh, okay."
"I'll end my turn with a facedown." Andrew concluded while inserting a card into his duel disk.
"Alright then..." Clover drew her new card and looked at it. "Nice! I activate the spell card, Heat Wave!" The released waves of intense heat that enveloped the entire field.
"Phew! That's really hot." Jenny said while using her own hand to fan herself.
"Tell me about it." Michael replied while pulling his collar.
"Due to the effect of this spell, none of us can summon effect monsters until my next draw phase." Clover explained. "Now then..." (ATK: 3000-3200) (ATK: 1700-1900) (ATK: 1500-1700) (ATK: 1200-1400) "Horus, attack his Ocean!" The dragon reared its head back while flames started to come out of its mouth.
"I don't think so! I activate Fiendish Chain!" Andrew's facedown card flipped up. And when that happened, chains came out of the ground and wrapped themselves around the dragon's limbs, restraining it. "Thanks to this, your monster can't attack. And also, its special abilities are now negated.
Clover smiled. "Good to see you haven't lost your touch. But I still have other monsters in play! So I'll have my Tasuke Knight attack instead!" The red-armored knight charged forward and thrusted with his palms, landing a few hits on the aquatic hero until he shattered into pixels.
Andrew: 3100-2700 (ATK: 3000-2500)
"And then I'll have Wildheart attack your Shadow Mist!" The tribal hero unsheathed his sword and struck the heroine, making her explode.
"Once again, I'll use Shadow Mist's ability to add another HERO to my hand. Like Elemental HERO Knospe." Andrew took a monster card from his deck. It had the image of a humanoid bud wearing a necklace.
"Too bad you can't summon it for a while." (ATK: 3200-3000) (ATK: 1900-1700) (ATK: 1700-1500) (ATK: 1400-1200) "I'll switch Marauding Captain to defense mode and end my turn." Clover concluded as the blonde warrior kneeled down.
"I draw!" Andrew began his turn and looked over his hand. 'Because of Heat Wave, I can't summon anything this turn. But I can prepare a summoning for Clover's upcoming turn.' He took two cards from his hand. "I play a facedown monster in defense mode, and end my turn with another card facedown." Two facedown cards appeared, making a 'T' formation.
"Fine, I draw!" Clover drew.
"Reveal facedown card!" Andrew interrupted as he revealed a spell card. "Mask Change! Thanks to this spell, I can send a HERO monster to my grave and then summon a Masked HERO from my fusion deck. Absolute Zero, time to transform!" The icy hero was enveloped in light. "Meet my Masked HERO Acid!" The light died down and revealed a warrior clad in dark-blue armor with a red center that had a golden star over it. He carried a silver gun with his right hand. (ATK: 2600 DEF: 2100 LV: 8) "And when this guy is summoned to the field, all your spells and traps are destroyed."
"Great." Clover muttered sarcastically.
"And that's not all." The spirit of Absolute Zero appeared. "When Absolute Zero leaves the field, all of your monsters are also destroyed." And with that, the icy hero thrusted his right palm, creating icy winds that enveloped Clover's field.
"Impressive, but I've got a surprise for you! The trap card, Call of the Haunted!" Her facedown card flipped up. "This lets me bring a monster back from my graveyard. So welcome back, Kaiser Glider!" The golden dragon rose up on the field. (ATK: 2400 DEF: 2200 LV: 6)
"Oops!" Andrew said as the icy winds made all of Clover's monsters covered in ice after a few seconds before shattering into pixels. And with Kaiser Glider gone, so was Call of the Haunted. Right after that, the Masked HERO aimed his gun at Banner of Courage and fired a stream of acid that caused it to melt away.
"You may have destroyed all of my monsters, but my Kaiser Glider's ability will send your hero packing!" Acid vanished in a flash of light. "And now I summon Blade Knight in attack mode!" A noble knight in gleaming silver armor, wielding a matching shield and a broad sword. (ATK: 1600 DEF: 1000 LV: 4) Clover held up her hand as she continued. "And guess what. If I have 1 card or no cards at all in my hand, he gains 400 extra attack points." (ATK: 1600-2000) "Now attack his facedown monster!" The knight charged forward.
As he got closer, the facedown monster card flipped up and revealed a potted plant with a green bush at the tip. (ATK: 500 DEF: 500 LV: 3) "You just launched an attack on Fiber Jar..."
"And let me guess, its flip effect activates, right." Clover asked, though it sounded more like a statement than a question. "Too bad for you. Because if I have no other monsters in play, Blade Knight negates the effects of any Flip effect monster he destroys." The knight cleaved the pot with his sword, making it shatter into pixels. "I'll end my turn."
"Clover may not have any other cards in play, but she sure put Andrew in a tight spot." Michael commented.
"Definitely. But knowing Andrew, he wont give up that easily." Jenny replied.
"My turn!" Andrew drew. "And I summon Elemental HERO Solid Soldier in defense mode!" A purple clad warrior clad in silver armor with golden linings appeared, his forearms weighed withe heavy shields. (ATK: 1300 DEF: 1100 LV: 4) "And when this guy is normal summoned, I can summon another HERO from my hand, as long as it's level 4 or below. And I choose Elemental HERO Knospe!" The little plant hero appeared. (ATK: 600 DEF: 1000 LV: 3) "And now I'll use her special ability! As long as I have another Elemental HERO on the field, she can attack you directly. Go, Seed Blast!" The plant monster fired seeds from her open buds, forcing Clover to shield herself with her arms.
Clover: 3000-2400
"Now, since Knospe managed to cause you battle damage, she gains 100 attack points while losing 100 defense points." (ATK: 600-700 DEF: 1000-900 "And you should know that my other Elemental HERO keeps Knospe safe from your attacks. So if you want to get to her, you have to get through Solid Soldier first."
"Well, I intend to. My move!" Clover drew her next card and looked at it. She narrowed her eyes before looking up. "Blade Knight, attack Solid Soldier!" The knight charged forward and slashed the silver-armored hero with his sword, making him explode. "I place one card facedown and end my turn." Clover inserted her only card into her duel disk.
"Now let's see what to do now." Andrew drew his next card and looked at it. "This will do! I summon Elemental HERO Heat in attack mode!" The hero that rose up on the field was clad in fiery red, white and yellow armor, wearing a white and yellow mask with green eyes, and was quite muscular. (ATK: 1600 DEF: 1200 LV: 4) "This gains 200 attack points for every Elemental HERO on my field, including himself." (ATK: 1600-2000) "And a new HERO joining her, Knospe can attack you again!" The plant hero shot Clover with seeds again.
Clover: 2400-1700
(ATK: 700-800 DEF: 900-800) "And that ends my turn."
"A decent move." Kaito said. "Since that Heat has the same attack points as Blade Knight, Clover won't destroy Knospe so easily."
"Especially since she doesn't have anything else to use." Shiori replied.
"Except for that facedown card." Jenny noted. "But I wonder what it's for?"
Clover drew her next card and looked at it. She then smirked and pointed to her facedown card. "I activate Destruction Sword Memories!" It flipped up. "This trap card lets me discard 1 Destruction Sword card, and then summon a certain monster from my deck."
"Well, that ought to answer your question?" Michael commented.
"So I'll discard this..." Clover discarded a trap card. "And then summon my favorite monster...!" A pillar of light erupted from the ground. "Buster Blader!" The light died down and revealed a warrior in purple armor with a sword that had blue jewels adorned on it. (ATK: 2600 DEF: 2300 LV: 7)
Andrew's eyes widened. "Hoo boy."
"Yup! You're in trouble now! Buster Blader, attack his Heat with Dragon Sword Attack!" The warrior charged forward and cut the armored hero in half.
Andrew: 2700-2100
"And now, Blade Knight! Your turn!" The silver-armored knight followed suit and sliced the plant hero to pieces.
Andrew: 2100-0900
"And that's that." Clover concluded with a smirk.
"Hey, Andrew!" Jenny called out. "You better not lose this, or you'll be one buying the smoothies at the beach hut!"
Andrew smiled to her. "Not too worry. I got this!"
"You sure about that?" Clover asked skeptically.
"You bet I am. Now watch this!" Andrew drew his next card. Once he glanced at it, he nodded. "Yes!"
"Hm?" Clover blinked.
"I activate the spell card, Mask Charge! This lets me take a HERO monster and a Change card from my graveyard and add them to my hand."
"You've gotta be kidding me!"
"Nope, I'm not!" Shadow Mist and Mask Change came out of the graveyard slot. "First I summon Shadow Mist to the field!" The black-armored heroine appeared again. (ATK: 1000 DEF: 1500 LV: 4) "Then I'll use Mask Change to give her a new look!" Light enveloped her. "I summon Masked HERO Anki!" The light died down and revealed a new hero, wearing jet black armor. (ATK: 2800 DEF: 1200 LV: 8) "Now attack her Blade Knight!" The hero leapt forward and landed a kick that destroyed the silver-armored knight.
Clover: 1700-0900
"And next I activate his special ability! After he destroys a monster in battle, I can take another Change card from my deck to my hand." Andrew fanned his deck out, took the card he wanted and revealed. "And the card I choose is Form Change! This lets me return 1 HERO fusion monster to my fusion deck and replace it with a Masked HERO with the same level, but different name. Anki...!" The hero glowed brightly. "Transform into Masked HERO Koga!" Moments later, Anki had taken the form of a warrior clad in golden armor with blades attached to his arms. (ATK: 2500 DEF: 1800 LV: 8) "And this guy gets easily pumped up. He gains 500 attack points for every monster on your field." (ATK: 2500-3000)
"Damn!" Clover cured quietly.
"And he's got another ability. By removing a HERO monster in my graveyard from play, I can decrease a monster's attack points with the same amount as that HERO's attack points." A card came out of Andrew's graveyard slot. "Knospe ought to do." The spirit of the plant hero entered Koga's body as his body emanated a brilliant light that blinded Buster Blader. (ATK: 2600-2000) "Now, Koga! Attack Buster Blader with Twin Light Slash!" The hero charged forward and slashed the purple-armored with his blades in an X-like manner, making him explode.
Clover: 0900-0000
"And that's game!" Andrew said as the holograms vanished. "And that was one heck of a duel!"
Clover smiled. "Yeah, that sure was fun. But don't think you'll be so lucky next time."
"We'll see about that!" He replied with a smirk right before Jenny threw arms around him and planted a kiss on his cheek.
"I knew you could do it!" She said.
"Thanks. And since I didn't lose, you'll pay for the smoothies."
The fairy duelist pouted at him. "Party pooper." She said before both of them laughed.
"Nicely play, Andrew." Shiori complimented.
"A pretty cool comeback you did there." Michael added.
"Thanks, guys."
"That's one way to kickstart the new school year." Kaito commented.
"Sure is." Andrew nodded. "I'm looking forward to what it brings."
As the gang chatted, they were unaware that Aster was watching from a distance. His eyes were focused on Andrew. "So, he's the one with the Masked Heroes, huh. I never thought I'd be able to find them."
Back at the docks, Crowler and Bonaparte were sitting down in a slump waiting for Aster to show up off the boat, but all that came were new students that weren't worth their attention.
"This doesn't make any sense. He hasn't showed up." Crowler complained. "Aster!"
"Whoa! So this is Duel Academy!" A female voice said.
Getting curiosity the better of them, the two men looked up to the source and saw a girl in an Obelisk Blue girl uniform with a red cap, walking together with another girl with long black hair and orange eyes.
"Now this is awesome!" Angie said with a grin.
"I wonder how our dorm will be like." Pele replied.
"Well, I bet it'll be pretty comfy. Hey, maybe you and I get to be roommates!"
After the girls passed by, The men stared at them for a moment before sighing. "Guess he's not here."
"Left, right! Left, right!"
Bonaparte looked up and saw someone leave the boat. "Oh contraire, mon friere! He's right there! 12 o'clock!"
Crowler followed his gaze with a hopeful look.
But when this person jumped down from the gangplank, it turned out to be someone else. It was a boy with tanned skin and an unusual outfit. He was wearing a Ra Yellow uniform that was without sleeves and had a duller shade of yellow, and a green muscle shirt underneath. He also wore beige combat pants, white wristbands with matching bands just above his feet, a bandana featuring a dinosaur face, bone earrings, and a necklace of dinosaur bones. His hair consisted of long, black dreadlocks. He was carrying a military issue backpack at his back.
"Can you ladies tell me who's in charge around here?" He asked.
"Ladies?" The two men repeated, feeling offended.
"You heard me." The boy said as he approached them. "Who's top in command in these parts?"
"That would be me." Crowler replied. "Now then..." But before he could continue, the boy grabbed him angrily by his collar.
"I got a bone to pick! You got that?! Well, Sunshine?!"
"10-4?" Crowler replied nervously.
"I'm the best duelist west of Rio Grande! So why am I stationed in the yellow barracks?!"
"That's because... well, you see... feel free to jump in Bonaparte..." Crowler begged to the short man.
"Listen, I want blue!"
"Uh, Bonaparte...!"
"Right." The Vice Chancellor spoke up. "What my colleague here is trying to say is that some like you would never want to be stuck blue dorm."
"Yeah? Why's that?" The boy asked as he let go of Crowler.
"You're too daring." The Chancellor replied. "Yes yes, that's what it is! A thrill-seeker like you doesn't belong with the blues."
"Yes, you have way too much charm." Bonaparte added. "Not to mention joie de vivre and tons of shineth a quoi."
"Well thanks! I think." The boy smiled. "You gals are alright. Forward march!" At that, he marched off like a commando.
"Who was that?" Crowler asked.
"Beats me." Bonaparte replied.
"Hmph. Well, that settles it. This school's a joke. We need a star like Aster Phoenix, not more slackers."
"You're right!" Bonaparte agreed wholeheartedly.
"Yes, but he stood us up!"
"Who needs him? You and I can have a whole school full of stars!"
"I'm not so sure I'm following you."
"I mean we eliminate the red dorm, then it's au revoir, Slackers and hello, Stars. Get it?" At that, both of them grinned widely and started to laugh together...
"I'm afraid the Red dorm won't be going anywhere."
Crowler and Bonaparte stopped laughing and turned to see a man wearing a jacket that was shaped like an Obelisk Blue uniform, but had the red colors of a Slifer Red uniform. He had brown hair in a slicked back undercut hairstyle and grey eyes, carrying a suitcase with Duel Academy's logo on it.
"Huh? Who are you?" Crowler demanded.
"I'm Professor Paul Miller." The man greeted. "The new headmaster of Slifer Red."
"WHAT?!" The Chancellor exclaimed. "I haven't authorized this!"
"Me neither!" Bonaparte added. "And we never will!"
"Actually I was hired by the owner of Duel Academy before the last year came out." Professor Miller opened his suitcase and pulled out a contract. "And what's more, you have no authority over firing me for a year since I'm new. It says so here."
Crowler snatched the contract from him and looked it over. And so did Bonaparte. They noted the signature of the previous Chancellor Sheppard, and the owner of Duel Academy. And they also saw the date was indeed before Crowler was appointed Chancellor. "He's right." He grumbled.
"Sacre bleu."
"Yeah, I'm afraid that's how it is." Miller said ad he took the contract. "Especially since the rules state that every dorm is required to have a headmaster. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'll be on my way." He proceed to leave the docks. "Oh, and you better not try to mess with MY dorm." He added before leaving.
"So now the slackers have an authority figure in charge?" Crowler said in disbelief. "What are we going to do now?"
"The answer is simple, mon ami." Bonaparte said with a grin. "All we have to do is promote enough of the better students out of that dorm, and then that place is fini!"
At that, the two men began laughing again.
That took me longer than expected. But I hope it was good for you people. Until next time.
