A Hassleberry Hounding

In the afternoon, classes were over. And most people did whatever they would do in the afternoon. Studying, doing homework, dueling, or hanging out with friends. And there were two people who decided to hang out in the forest. One of them was Alyssa, the one who Nathan faced in his promotion duel. The other person was another Obelisk Blue girl.

She looked similar to Alyssa, but with a few differences. She was shorter than Alyssa, but still of average height. She had a low C to mid C cup size rack. She also had short blonde hair in a feminine fashion and blue eyes and wore stylish glasses.

"That lecture was really interesting." Alyssa said. "What do you think, Allie?"

The girl now named Allie nodded. "Yeah, Professor Miller seems like a nice person."

"Yeah."

"Well well well. Look who we have here!" A male voice spoke up. The twins looked ahead and saw the source of that voice. It was an Obelisk Blue boy with spiky brown. And he had a sneering look on his face. He was then joined by another Obelisk Blue boy, who had blue hair with one bang hanging on one side of his head and wore small glasses. These two were Raizou and Taiyou, Chazz's former lackeys. "The girl who got her butt kicked by a Slifer Slacker!" The former snidely commented.

"What's your problem?" Allie said angrily.

"The problem is that she let herself get beaten by a lower ranked duelist!" Taiyou replied rudely. "That's pathetic, not to mention bad for us Obelisks!"

Alyssa scowled. "I think you're the ones who are pathetic. So what if Nathan defeated me? Ranks don't matter that much, if any at all. All that matters is your skills, and he was just more skilled, that's all."

"Not that people like you would understand." Allie added.

The two Obelisk boys laughed together before glaring at them. "That's big talk coming for a loser!" Taiyou said.

"Yeah, you should know better than letting a slacker get the better of you." Raizou added before the two of them started to walk away.

The twins scowled at them.

As the Obelisk boys laughed together, they came across a small bridge over a river...

"Hold it right there, civilians!" A voice spoke up in a drill sergeant-esque tone, making the two of them stop. They looked ahead and saw the person standing on the bridge. It was a certain guy wearing a yellow vest and a dino-themed bandana. And for some reason, he had a bunch of duel disks strapped on his back And there were also a couple of back packs standing next to him, full of even more duel disks.. "Draw your duel disks and let's duel!"

"Huh?" The Obelisk boys blinked in confusion.

Alyssa and Allie saw this from a distance and were confused as well.

Meanwhile, somewhere else, Jaden, Syrus and Andrew were walking together, carrying bags full of duel disks.

"This so un-chill!" Jaden complained. "I sleep through one Crowler's boring lectures, he makes us lug 14 replacement duel disks across campus!"

"You really need to learn how to stay awake in class and pay attention." Andrew scolded. He then looked curious. "I wonder why everyone loses their duel disks?"

"Well..." Syrus trailed off with a guilty look on his face.

"What is it, Syrus?" Andrew asked. "Do you know something about the disappearances?"

"I don't know for sure, but I've heard things. You know the west river right over the main bridge?"

"Yeah, what about it?" Jaden asked.

"Well, there's this bully who hangs out over there, so I hear. And he forces you to duel him, so I'm told."

Andrew narrowed his eyes. "Yeah? Go on."

"And if you lose, his gang takes your duel disk away."

"What else do you know, come on!" Jaden urged.

"I'm just telling you what I heard! He might not even exist. For all I know, this guy's just a myth. The big ugly muscle head..."

"Where's your duel disk?" Jaden asked, noticing that the smaller Slifer didn't have one on his left arm.

Andrew frowned. "Don't tell you dueled this guy and lost!"

"I did..." Syrus whimpered. "And then he took my lunch money too!"

"In that case, I say we take the long way home." Jaden declared before walking away with a grin.

"Wait! Do you mean...?" Syrus said in realization.

"I'm sure he does." Andrew nodded. "We need to learn that bully a lesson. Let's go!" He then followed Jaden.

"Oh boy, I was afraid they'd do this." Syrus muttered before following them. "Be careful! He also gives wedgies, so I hear."

After some walking, the trio reached the bridge.

"Stop right there, civilians!" They then looked up and saw the culprit standing on the bridge with his arms crossed.

"That's him! That's the guy!" Syrus pointed out. "Maybe we should just go. Who needs lunch money, anyway?"

Andrew gave him a look. "You really need to learn to stand up more often."

"Draw your duel disk!" The muscular guy commanded.

"Sure." Jaden replied with a grin as he shucked load off his back, save for his own.

"Hold on! Aren't you scared?" The Ra asked, clearly confused.

"Of a duel? No way! Now let's throw down!"

"But I haven't given my speech yet!"

"What speech?"

"My intro!" The Ra pointed to himself. "Now then, name's Hassleberry. Codename: Tyranno."

"Whatever you say." Jaden said, unsure how to react. "Hey, what's with your goon squad?"

Andrew blinked at that question before he noticed that Hassleberry wasn't alone. He was surrounded by five other guys, presumably Ra Yellow students, considering the Ra Yellow jacket-like vests they were wearing.

"Show some respect!" Hassleberry said angrily.

"That's right. You tell him, Sarge." A broad member of the gang said.

"State your name!" Another member commanded.

"Well I..." Jaden began.

"Was just leaving." Syrus interrupted.

"No way, Sy." Andrew said. "We can't just let those guys steal those duel disks and get away with it."

"Roll call, boys!" One of the Ras said.

"Who are we?"

"TROOP TYRANNO!"

"Okay, they're nuts." Jaden commented.

"That's what scares me." Syrus replied.

"Sound off! Ready?" One of the Ras said. "Sarge Tyranno is the best!"

"He likes to wear his jacket like a vest! Sound off won't do..."

"Sound off 3, 4, now let's go!"

Andrew sweat dropped at their rhyming. 'These guys must be the weirdest bullies we ever met.'

"Hold on!" One of the Ras spoke up. "You look like the kid whose undies we hung on the flagpole yesterday."

"Yeah, what's your point?" Syrus asked angrily.

"What?! They did that to you too?" Andrew asked before giving Troop Tyranno and angry look. "Okay, you guys are going too far!"

"Oh yeah?" Hassleberry smirked. "Then why don't you bring it on, son? Maybe you'll do better than the other two blues from earlier."

Andrew blinked. "Other two?"

"Ugh..."

The two Slifers and Obelisk turned to the direction that groaning came from and were surprised to see Raizou and Taiyou lying next to a nearby tree with swirling eyes. They even had a black eye each. "Yikes!" Andrew said.

Syrus started to get nervous. "Maybe we should just leave after all."

"Nah, we'll stay." Jaden replied with a grin. "Now let's throw down!"

"Well first, let me lay down the rules of the battle." Hassleberry announced. "See those duel disks?" He asked, referring to those the trio had. "You lose, them things is mine."

"And if I win, you give me the ones you stole."

"Say what? Who are you?" Troop Tyranno asked, both confused and surprised.

"Just another wimp." Hassleberry scoffed.

"Hey, take that back! Hear me?" Syrus shouted angrily.

"Easy, Sy." Jaden said, trying to calm him down.

"No one insults my best friend!" He ignored him as he looked like he was on fire.

"Control your subordinate, will ya?" Hassleberry said.

"Yeah, or else we will." One the troop member added.

"Forget the pipsqueak." The broadest member told Hassleberry. "Eyes on the prize."

Hasslebarry glared towards Jaden. 'When I'm done with this runt, they'll have to scrape him off the ground with a squeegee.'

"Alright! You got a deal, and a duel!" Now he was the one who looked like to be on fire.

"Are you always this dramatic, bro?" Jaden asked with a sweat drop.

"Attention! Time for combat, Sarge!" Syrus shouted.

"Clearly, he's not the only one." Andrew said with a deadpan look.

Moments later, Troop Tyranno, Syrus and Andrew stood on the bridge while Jaden and Hassleberry were facing each other, standing on each side near the river.

"Ready for bootcamp, son?" Hassleberry asked.

"Hey you, stop calling him son!" Syrus shouted. "He's in his second year!"

"Then he's number 2!" One of the troop members replied.

"And who's 1?"

"TROOP TYRANNO!"

"Will you give it up?!" Syrus asked, annoyed. "You're not in the army!"

But they continued their cheering. "Who's the best? Troop Tyranno! Who's gonna win?"

"Troop Jaden!" Syrus shouted.

"Seriously?" Andrew muttered with a sweat drop.

"Are Andrew and I the only ones who haven't gone insane?" Jaden wondered.

"Rally up! All hands on deck!" Hassleberry commanded.

"He just answered that question loud and clear." Jaden sighed before inserting his deck into his duel disk. "Fine, if you can't beat them, you gotta join them. Game on, General!" He then activated it.

"You mocking me?! I'm a sergeant, Junior!" Hasslebery corrected as he activated his own duel disk. "And this ain't no game, this is combat!"

Jaden: 4000

Hassleberry: 4000

"Alright, then get your combat on! Ready, chief? I declare war..." Jaden drew. "...by summoning Elemental HERO Wildheart in defense mode!" The tribal hero appeared and kneeled down with his arms crossed. (ATK: 1500 DEF: 1600 LV: 4) "Now I'll call it a turn."

"Who's the best? Troop Jaden!" Syrus cheered.

But Troop Tyranno responded by bringing up several instruments, a red megaphone, and big flag with the image of t-rex head. They then started their own cheering, which was so loud that Syrus and Andrew were forced to cover their ears.

"Warfare time! Here goes!" Hassleberry drew his sixth card, looked at it and revealed it. "Gilasaurus, front and center!" A thin, brown dinosaur appeared on the field. (ATK. 1400 DEF: 400 LV: 3)

"It could be worse." Syrus commented.

"And now things are about to get a lot worse, cuz that right there was a special summon. Which in layman's terms means I can play another monster. So Gilasaurus, you are dismissed. Now, Dark Driceratops, report to the field in attack mode!" The brown dinosaur vanished and was then replaced by another dinosaur. It was a green triceratops with brown feather wings and a yellow beak. (ATK: 2400 DEF: 1500 LV: 6)

"Not bad." Jaden said with a smile. "You played a monster with 2400 attack points on your first turn."

"This is war! Don't give the enemy any props!" Syrus shouted.

"Calm down, Syrus." Andrew told him. "Jaden will be fine."

"It's time to go commando!" Hassleberry declared, swinging his right arm. "Dark Driceratops, attack! Flying Phantom Nosedive!" The winged triceratops swooped down and destroyed Wildheart. And just as Jaden recovered from the attack, the dinosaur swooped down again and struck him from behind, forcing him down to one knee. "At ease, Private." Hassleberry said before laughing.

Jaden: 4000-3200

"Ooh! So it can cause piercing damage." Andrew winced. "That's not good."

"You okay, Jay?" Syrus asked worriedly.

"Get up, son! My prehistoric patrol isn't through with you yet! But since I'm nice, I'll give you a chance to recoup. But not for long. I'll be laying on the hurt soon enough! That's what you get for messing with the best."

Jaden got up on his feet. "

"Hassleberry! Hassleberry!"

"He's our man!"

"If he can't win..."

"We will!" Syrus said, turning to Troop Tyranno. "Now take it down a decibel!"

"Sorry, little man, but Sarge needs support!" The member with the megaphone said. And of course, Syrus covered his ears as he was standing right next to him. "If it's too loud, then get lost! Go, Sarge!"

"Beat the khaki pants off so we can shut them up!" Syrus called out.

"What do you think I'm trying to do? Let him win?" Jaden asked before continuing. "Hey Lieutenant, my move!" He drew.

"For the last time, it's sergeant!" Hassleberry repeated in anger. "Now play something!"

"Monster Reincarnation!" Jaden held up the named spell card. He then discarded one of his cards "So I'll send this to the graveyard in order to bring back my Wildheart." he took the named card from the graveyard slot. "How do you like that?"

Hassleberry laughed a bit. "You want that wimp in your platoon?"

Jaden smirked. "Negative. But what I do want is this in my graveyard." At that, the spirit of a figure appeared behind him. It was a red-skinned voodoo figure with bone shoulder guards.

"Nice!" Andrew smiled. "That's Necroshade!"

"And what's that one do?" Hassleberry asked, raising an eyebrow.

"I'm glad you ask, Captain." Jaden replied. "If I happen to have this guy in my graveyard, then I can summon a high-level monster with Elemental HERO in its name without a sacrifice."

"Sam Hill!" The Ra exclaimed.

"So let's all give a big welcome to Elemental HERO Bladege!" With that, a new hero appeared. It was tall figure completely covered in golden armor with blades attached to his arms and jet wings on his back. (ATK: 2600 DEF: 1800 LV: 7) "Go, Bladedge! Attack his Dark Driceratops! Slice and Dice Attack!" The hero charged forward and sliced the dinosaur with his blades, making it cry out in pain before it exploded.

Hassleberry: 4000-3800

"And that should do for now." Jaden concluded.

"Awesome, way to play, Jay!" Syrus cheered.

"Nice one, Jaden!" Andrew added.

"Thanks, guys!" Jaden replied.

"Oh, speechless, huh?" Syrus said, turning to Troop Tyranno.

They were quiet and looked at each other.

"At least he's doing better than those two guys from earlier." A female voice spoke up.

"Huh?" Andrew and Syrus turned to see two certain Obelisk Blue girls approach them. "Oh! I've seen you before. You're Alyssa Greengrass, right? The one Nathan faced in his promotion duel."

Alyssa smiled. "Yeah, that's right. Nice to meet you."

Andrew smiled back before turning to her sister. "And you are...?"

"I'm Allie, Alyssa's twin sister." She replied.

"Oh, that's why you both look pretty." Syrus noted. He then stammered. "I-I mean pretty similar! I mean, uh..."

"Take a breath, Sy." Andrew said, amused, while the twins merely smiled to the Slifer. Andrew then turned to them. "So, those guys really did duel that Ra, huh?"

"That's right." Alyssa nodded.

Flashback

"Even though the two of them teamed up, Hassleberry was still very tough."

Alyssa and Allie watched from a distance as the two Obelisks faced Hassleberry.

Raizou & Taiyou: 4000

Hassleberry: 4000

On Raizou's field was a monster that looked a bunch of head-like statues, resembling those on the famous Easter Island. It was called Moai Interceptor Cannons (ATK: 1100 DEF: 2000 LV: 4) On Taiyou's field was a small, orange dragon that looked young. This one was called Baby Dragon. (ATK: 1200 DEF: 700 LV: 3)

Hassleberry began his turn. And just like he did against Jaden, he first summoned Gilasaurus. (ATK: 1400 DEF: 400 LV: 3) Then he sacrificed it and summoned Dark Dirceratops. (ATK: 2400 DEF: 1500 LV: 6) It then charged forward and slammed Baby Dragon.

Raizou & Raiyou: 4000-2300

Flashback end

"But at least your friend's doing better." Allie added.

"Well, he was always a great player." Andrew replied with a smile.

As Jaden waved to his friends, Hassleberry stared at him. 'This civilian isn't half-bad. But the sergeant still has a few tactics up his sleeve.' When he heard his troop cheering for him again, he smiled to them. 'They try so hard, them boys. And I gotta show them that even though we're not in the top-ranking dorm, we're still winners.'

Flashback

'When I first tried out for Duel Academy, I had my eyes on the Obelisk Blues, and when I aced the exam, I thought I was chewing.' Hassleberry was standing among many other possible new students, holding a small tag with number 31. He was wearing a white t-shirt with a dinosaur-like logo. When he looked up to a scoreboard, he smiled when he spotted his number on it.

'So when they stuck me in the yellow barracks, I thought they made a tactical error.'

"Here you go Mr. Hassleberry." When the dino duelist was given a Ra Yellow jacket, he had a disappointed look on his face.

'Turns out you had to go on a fancy prep school to be a blue, so I made due. And just like my dad had told me I would, I emerged as a true commanding officer. He also taught me that the uniform doesn't make the soldier, and before long, I made a squadron. My soldiers. My platoon. My battalion.' In his dorm room, Hassleberry was wearing his jacket, now sleeveless, like it was in present day. And he was surrounded by his troop members. 'And we let it be known that Sergeant Tyranno Hassleberry, son of the great General Hassleberry, is a giant among men...'

Flashback end

"...A dino man. And I guard this bridge to prove that no matter what, I will not stand down."

And everyone couldn't help but stare at him. "Okay?" Andrew said with a weird look.

"Alirght, enough with the monologue!"" Syrus called out. "Get back to the duel already!"

Hassleberry gasped. "Was I thinking out loud again?" His troop answered his question with a few nods while Syrus suppressed his snickering.

"You're a pretty funny guy, Bumbleberry." Jaden commented.

"It's Hassleberry! Sgt. Hassleberry! Now back to the battlefield!" He drew his next card and looked at it. "Excellent! Terrain advantage! I play this! It's a field spell known as Jurassic World!"

"Jurassic World? No way!" Jaden muttered in shock as the entire area changed into a forest filled with palm trees and volcanoes. "Pretty sweet move!"

"You ain't seen nothing yet, soldier. Now get this: Every one of my dinos gains 300 attack and defense points."

"That would be bad for Jaden." Andrew said.

"Now, Giant Rex, report for duty!" A brown spinosaurus with green stripes on its tail and a green fin on its back appeared with a roar. (ATK: 2000-2300 DEF: 1200-1500 LV: 4) "I'll place one card facedown and defer to you." Hassleberry concluded and inserted a card into his duel disk. "Face it, son, Before long, you'll be extinct. Wouldn't you agree, squadron?" But when he didn't get a response, he turned to his gang and saw that they didn't do a thing. "You men were supposed to cheer just now!"

"Uh, sorry." The guy holding the flag apologized. "We were moved internally. We'll have an outward display next time, sir."

"Yeah, and we will cheer for you too!" The guy with the megaphone added.

"What am I gonna do with you?" Hassleberry asked in annoyance.

"Hey, Major!" Jaden called out. "Keep those eyes on the prize. Ready?" He drew. "I play Elemental HERO Wildheart in attack mode!" The tribal hero appeared again. (ATK: 1500 DEF: 1600 LV: 4)

"That's really strange." The megaphone user said before turning to Syrus. "Why would he play..."

"My ears!" Syrus yelled back.

"Uh, whoops!" The Ra dropped it. "I mean why would he play that Wildheart card again?"

"Much better! Here's the deal, Jaden's the best. You just don't question his strategies."

"Well, Jaden's the kind of guy who duels with his guts instead of his brains. And that actually makes him unpredictable." Andrew added.

"Oooh." The Ras nodded.

"Now that makes me curious." Allie said with a smile. "Maybe I should challenge him someday."

Hassleberry, on the other hand, got angry again. "This is insubordination!"

"Alright, Bladedge! Destroy his Giant Rex now! Slice and Dice attack!" The golden hero charged forward.

"I'm fortified with this! Amber Pitfall!" Hassleberry's facedown card flipped up and sprayed some yellowish liquid. "Any idea what this does? It deflects an attacking monster and forces it into defense mode!" The liquid pushed Bladedge back to Jaden's field before the hero crossed his arms and kneeled down. "Now he's gotta stay like that. That means no more offensive maneuvers from now on."

"That's not good." Andrew frowned.

"That guy may be a bully, but I admit that he's good." Alyssa admitted.

"I'll throw down two facedowns and call it a turn." Jaden concluded as he inserted two cards into his duel disk. Right after that, he grinned. "That'll teach me. Oh well, live and learn."

"That's weird." One of the troop members commented.

"He's smiling." Another one added.

"That's Jaden for ya." Andrew replied with a smile.

"He always has a good time, unlike the Sarge." Syrus added, earning some laughter from Troop Tyranno.

Hassleberry was not happy about that. 'My battalion is deserting me. This always happens. I find a troop of soldiers I can trust and they end up siding with the enemy.' He the growled with a fiery aura. "No more Mr. Nice Sarge!" He drew his next card. "Now I play Pot of Greed! Meaning I can now draw two more cards." He drew his extra cards and looked at them. "Now brace yourselvelf, cuz I play this!" He revealed one of them. "Double Evolution Pill! This allows me to remove two monsters from my hand or graveyard. One dinosaur monster and one monster that is anything but a dino. So I'll remove Gilasaurus from my graveyard and Dyna Base from my hand." The brown dinosaur appeared, along with what looked like the bottom of a tank with a pair of robotic arms, before disappearing. "And with that done, I can send in one level 7 or higher dinosaur from my hand or deck. Like Black Tyranno, for example." And from a flash of light, another dinosaur rose up with a mighty roar. Like the name suggested, it was a black tyrannosaurus. And it looked very ferocious. (ATK: 2600-2900 DEF: 1800-2100 LV: 7)

"Now this is bad!" Syrus whimpered.

"Now, Giant Rex! Take on that Wildheart! Forward march!" The spinosaurus roared and charged forward. "And while I'm at it, I play this!" Hassleberry held up the two remaining cards in his hand. "Two copies of Dino Stomp! With one Dino Stomp, I can destroy one of your spells or traps. So with two Dino Stomps, I can destroy both of your cards!" The spinosaurus roared and stomped hard on the way, making some shockwaves that hit Jaden's field, creating a dust cloud. The dinosaur walked into the cloud and did one more stomp, clearing the smoke away. And when Jaden's field was revealed, all that was left was Bladedge. "And now you're gonna get it, son. Because if you have defensive monsters and nothing else on the field, Black Tyranno can attack you directly!"

"Seriously?!" Andrew exclaimed.

"It's true." Alyssa replied. "We know, because that's how he defeated those other two Obelisks."

Flashback

On Raizou and Taiyou's field, Moai Interceptor Cannons was still on the field, along with a green dragon with wings and horns known as Blackland Fire Dragon. (ATK: 1500 DEF: 800 LV: 4)

Black Tyranno appeared on Hassleberry's field, making the two Obelisks cry out. And then, marched over to them and struck them with its tail, sending them flying.

Raizou & Taiyou: 2300-0000

Flashback end

"So if this hits, Jaden loses." Allie added.

"Uh oh." Andrew looked worriedly.

"Alright! Black Tyranno, you're up! Now... sic him!" The tyrannosaurus roared and charged forward. It then reached Jaden and landed a stomping foot on him. "Mission accomplished!"

"Look!" One of the troop members shouted.

"Look at what?" Hassleberry questioned before turning to Jaden. And when he did, he was surprised.

Jaden: 0500

"How is it you still have life points, boy?"

"Remember when you played your two Dino Stomp cards earlier?" Jaden asked. "Well, since you wanted to destroy my two facedown cards, I decided to play one of them. Which was this one." He held up the card in question.

"That looks like Emergency Provisions." Allie noted.

"It lets you increase your life points by 1000 for every spell or trap card you send to the graveyard." Alyssa added.

Andrew snapped his fingers. "Of course!"

Flashback

"When Hassleberry attacked and played his two spell cards, Jaden used his own spell to send his other facedown card to the graveyard." When Giant Rex attacked, causing smoke to cover Jaden's field, one of the Slifer's facedown cards flipped up, and made the other one vanish.

Jaden: 3200-4200

Right after that, Giant Rex stomped on Wildheart, shattering him into pixels.

Jaden: 4200-3400

"That's why Jaden survived that last attack." Black Tyranno landed its stomping foot on Jaden.

Jaden: 3400-0500

Flashback end

"Nice one, Jay!" Syrus cheered.

"Sergeant Jaden is the best!" The guy with the megaphone added.

Hearing that was a big blow for Hassleberry. "Deserted. Again." Looking defeated, he sat down on the ground. "Oh, it's nothing new."

"Huh?" Jaden gave him a confused look.

"Guess the only person I can trust is me..."

Flashback

Hassleberry was standing with a bunch of guys clad in matching school uniforms. They were facing a mean-looking gang that was way greater than them in numbers.

"Time and time again, it's always the same. I gather a battalion of supporters and when I need them the most, they just up and desert me."

Hassleberry stood proudly until he noticed that his gang was gone all of a sudden. He then got afraid and ran off.

Flashback end

"But why? I'm a great leader and I always win. Who wouldn't want to root for me? Take this duel! I'm beating you the same way I beat my last twelve rivals and no one's cheering!"

"Well, Colonel, maybe they're just bored." Jaden said.

"That's a possibility." Andrew agreed. "I mean, I don't necessarily use the same moves in every single duel. When presented to me, I use different strategies now and then."

"Come on!" Hassleberry scoffed. "Bored with my dueling? Now that's just crazy talk!"

"Think about it, Dingleberry." Jaden continued. "You said yourself you used the same moves 12 duels in a row. So, don't you think it's time you evolved?"

"Huh?" Hassleberry gave a surprised look.

"Nice dinosaur reference, Jay!" Syrus praised.

"Yeah, that's a good way to put it." Alyssa agreed as her twin sister nodded.

Troop Tyranno nodded as well. "I'm not bored anymore!" The guy with the megaphone said.

Hassleberry stood up, seemingly agreeing as well. "You are right!"

Jaden smirked. "I always am. Now to prove it! Ready?" He drew his next card and revealed it. "I play Legacy of a Hero! Now with at least two level 4 or higher Elemental Heroes in my graveyard, I can draw three new cards." He drew his extra cards. "Now getting back to the whole evolution thing." He placed a card into his field spell trey. "I play this! My own field spell card!"

Hassleberry gasped.

"Sorry, but the Stone Age is over!" At that, the greenery surroundings were replaced by a frozen landscape.

"Is this... the Ice Age?" Hassleberry asked.

"Just wait!" Jaden said, getting his attention. "The field's still evolving!" And then, tall city buildings erupted from the ground, creating a big city around them. "My spell card is called Skyscraper, and it changes everything!"

"I hate change! You hear me?" Hassleberry retorted. But then, it hit him in an instant. 'Wait! That's been my problem all along! I've been stuck in the past! Always relying on the same old tactics instead of learning from my mistakes and evolving.'

"Exactly!" Jaden said, getting his attention again. "Don't worry, Corporal, you weren't thinking out loud this time. But I assume by the look of your face that you figured it out. Now since your field card is gone, so are 300 of your monsters' attack and defense points." (ATK: 2900-2600 DEF: 2100-1800) (ATK: 2300-2000 DEF: 1500-1200) "If you like that, you'll love this! First I play Pot of Greed, which lets me draw two more cards." He drew his extra cards. "And one of them is The Warrior Returning Alive! So now I can take a warrior from my graveyard to my hand, like Wildheart." The named card came out of his graveyard slot. And then, Jaden held up Polyemrization. "And now it's time for a fusion action! So I'll merge Elemental HERO Avian with Elemental HERO Wildheart in order to create... my newest hero!"

"A new hero?" Andrew muttered as the tribal hero and the green clad hero with feather wings swirled together.

"Elemental HERO Wild Wingman!" The new monster that appeared looked similar to Wildheart, but with a few different features. He had an eye mask, similar to Avian's. He also had Avian's legs and talons. His hands were covered in green armor with claws. And on his back were a pair of large white wings with black tips. (ATK: 1900 DEF: 2300 LV: 8) "And he's got a pretty sweet super effect! If I toss a card, your trap is automatically destroyed!" As Jaden discarded one of his cards, Amber Pitfall shattered into pixels. "And now that your Amber Pitfall is gone, I can switch Bladedge to attack mode!" The golden hero stood up.

"You don't say." Hassleberry replied.

"Ready, boys. Make some noise!" Syrus commanded.

"Jaden! Jaden! Jaden!" Troop Tyranno cheered.

"Thanks to my Skyscraper card, Wild Wingman's attack points increase by 1000." A yellow aura surrounded the winged hero. (ATK: 1900-2900) "Okay, Wingman! Get your attack on! Wing Impulse!" The winged hero spread his wings and released some kind of shockwave that hit Black Tyranno head on and blew it up.

Hassleberry: 3800-3500

"Impressive." Alyssa said.

"Now he's only got Giant Rex left." Allie added.

"That may be." Hassleberry said with a smirk. "But even after you destroy my remaining soldier, I'll still have plenty of life points left, so no medal of honor for you!" But when he saw Jaden holding up the last card in his hand, he lost his smirk.

"Then I'll just have to play this! De-Fusion! So Wildheart and Avian can separate!" In a flash of light, Wild Wingman was replaced by his fusion materials. (ATK: 1500 DEF: 1600 LV. 4) (ATK: 1000 DEF: 1000 LV: 3) "Which means I can have Wildheart attack your Giant Rex. Go, Wildheart! Wild Slash!" The tribal hero drew his big sword. (ATK: 1500-2500) He then charged forward and cut the spinosaurus in half.

Hassleberry: 3500-3000

"And wth Bladedge and Avian still in play, there go your life points! Bladedge, attack!" The golden hero landed a right hook on the dinosaur duelist.

Hassleberry: 3000-0400

"Now go, Avian! Quill Cascade!" Avian flapped his wings and fired some feather quills.

Before the attack hit, Hassleberry smiled. "What a battle! Jaden," His eyes developed dinosaur slit pupils. "you got spirit, soldier." And right after that, the feathers rained down on him. "That's game!"

Hassleberry: 0400-0000

"I gotta hand it to you, son. That was one of the most intense..." But because he forgot the whole city was a hologram, he was about to approach Jaden, but stumbled into the river.

"Huckleberry!" Jaden cried out, kneeling over the side. "You okay?"

"I owe you some duel disks." The Ra grinned sheepishly.

"Oh yeah! I was having such an awesome time I almost forgot! Thanks, Admiral!"

"It's Sergeant... oh, never mind!"

The twins laughed a little while Andrew smiled. "Well, at least everything has been solved."

"Speak for yourself." Raizou and Taiyou, who regained consciousness a long time ago, muttered bitterly.

Back at the Slifer dorm, Chazz's construction crew were almost finished with the additions to the right side of the dorm building. Crowler and Bonaparte were spying on the crew.

"It appears 'Project Renovation Red' is almost complete." The Chancellor said, seeing this through his binoculars. "This should bring some publicity."

"This is all a faux pas. We should demolish that dorm, not let some rich slacker step in and give it an extreme makeover." Bonaparte argued, using smaller binoculars. The kind that someone would use while watching the play in a theater or something. "What in the...?!" The view was suddenly blocked by a large green bag carried by Hassleberry as he walked towards the red dorm...

And entered Jaden and Syrus' room before unpacking his stuff in the middle. It was mostly pots, pans, canteens and cups.

"Uh, Sarge? Not to sound rude, but is there a reason you dumped your gear all over our floor?" Syrus wondered. "Cuz I know you don't think you're shacking up with us, right?"

"Yeah, this place is cramped enough." Chazz agreed, who was on the top bed bunk. "We don't need any freeloaders."

"Yeah, but..." Jaden trailed off.

"You're right, Chazz." Syrus replied. "And you ought to know about freeloaders."

"Yeah, well... what I meant to say was, we don't need any more freeloaders!" Chazz corrected.

"My mind's made up!" Everyone turned to Hassleberry, who held up the Troop Tyranno flag. "I've given Troop Tyranno some time off for R . Anyway, Jaden showed me that I have a lot to learn!"

"Oh no you don't!" Syrus glared at him, knowing exactly where this was getting at. "He's already got a wingman!"

"Besides, if you want to learn, you should really be following me around." Chazz suggested with a smirk. But when he didn't get a response from the dinosaur duelist, he got annoyed. "Hello! Anyone home?"

But Hassleberry ignored him, stood up and offered a handshake to Jaden. "Hassleberry reporting for duty. This is truly an honor, Sergeant."

Jaden smiled a bit. "You can call me Jaden."

"Sir yes sir!"

Well, I didn't think I would be fast enough to finish one more chapter this year. I hope you guys enjoyed it. And before I'll wrap things up, there are a couple of things I need to point out.

The part of those two Obelisks insulting Alyssa before getting their butts kicked by Hassleberry was an idea I was given by D.J. Scales. And what I forgot to mention in my previous chapter is that Alyssa is an OC created by D.J. Scales himself. And the same goes for her twin sister, Allie. So all the credit for those two goes to D.J. Scales.

That's all. Happy New Year!
