Coin Runners Match with the Toads

{A/N: Happy 6th Anniversary, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe)

On a perfect afternoon at Battle Stadium, Toad and Toadette are enjoying the sights of the stadium. Toad smiled at her and said, "I can't believe that it has been 6 years since we came to this stadium from Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and I had a great time battling on this place."

"Me too," Toadette replied with a smile, "You know, I think this calls for a one-on-one Coin Runners match to commemorate this amazing anniversary. Now all we need is a referee and we're ready to go! Too bad we don't have one."

Then they heard a familiar voice riding in the Junior Clown Car and said, "Did somebody called for a referee?"

"Bowser Jr.!" Toad and Toad said as the Koopa Prince came to them.

"Hey, guys! I just heard that you're about to do a Coin Runners match to celebrate the 6th anniversary of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and so, I decided to be the referee for this amazing occasion. Good thing I brought my starting lights for this amazing showdown! Now then, are you ready to do battle?"

Toad and Toadette looked at the stadium and with a smile, they said. "Let's do it!"

"All right, then! Get in your karts and prepare for battle!"

So Toad and Toadette ran to their Pipe Frame karts as the crowd starts to cheer. Then Bowser Jr. took out his microphone and said, "Good afternoon, Mario Kart fans! It's a beautiful day for a battle here at Battle Stadium as Mario Kart proudly presents a very special Coin Runners exhibition match between the Toads to honor six years of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe!"

And on his cue, the crowd is cheering with excitement as the screen shows today's match. Then Bowser Jr. said, "That's right, folks! It's Toad vs. Toadette in a coin collecting battle to the finish! Now you know how the game works, guys. Just get as many coins as you can within the time limit while using items from the Item Boxes and whoever has the most coins at the end, wins. Got it?"

"Got it, Jr." Toad and Toadette replied with a smile.

"Okay, then. Now to make it a fair fight, I've decided to give you five minutes since I'm such a nice Koopa! Scoreboard, would you like to do the honors?"

The scoreboard agreed with him as the timer is set for five minutes along with the number of coins Toad and Toadette collected. With that, the battle is all set and ready to go.

Bowser Jr. came to them with the signal lights and said, "Well guys, this is it! The coins are in place, the clock is set and with that, we're ready to play Coin Runners! Once you see the green light, the battle will begin. Toad and Toadette, are you ready?"

"Ready," Toad and Toadette replied with a thumbs up.

"All right, then! Good luck to the both of you and have fun! So without further ado, let the Coin Runners battle between the Toads... BEGIN!"

With that, Bowser Jr. pressed the green button on the device and then, the lights begin to turn on.

Toad and Toadette turned their attention at the lights as they await the signal to start and while they're waiting, the entire arena grew very silent. It all comes down to this, the start of the match.

2...

1...

Toad and Toadette smiled at each other, took a deep breath and then...

It is time.

GO!

With the light turned green, Toad and Toadette took off at the same time to collect the first coin as the battle begins. Bowser Jr. smiled to the crowd and said, "And we are underway as Toad and Toadette collected their very first coin! This is what I call the battle of the Toads!"

The crowd agreed with him as they are cheering with excitement.

Toad and Toadette are enjoying the action as the battle raged on. From picking up coins to attacking with items, they are having a great time in this match.

Bowser Jr. looked at the scoreboard and said, "So far, the game is tied at ten as Toad and Toadette used their items to attack each other. There's still two minutes left to go in this match and in Mario Kart, anything can still happen!"

Just then, more coins came in as Toad and Toadette picked them up with ease. Even Bowser Jr. is enjoying the match from his Junior Clown Car as the timer enters its final minute of the game.

Thirty seconds later, the timer changed to yellow. Bowser Jr. looked at the board and said, "Toad is in the lead as we approach the final thirty seconds with the score of fifteen to nine. But here comes Toadette with a Mushroom to steal three coins from him, which ties the game at twelve! Twenty seconds! Both Toads are going all out in the final moments of the match! Ten seconds! Who will win this exciting showdown? We're about to find out... RIGHT NOW!"

The crowd is cheering louder than ever as the timer is now flashing red, signaling the final five seconds.

Bowser Jr. looked at the board, took a deep breath and then...

It is time to finish the match.

"5..."

"4..."

"3..."

"2..."

"1..."

BUZZ!

"GAME!"

And on his cue, the final buzzer has sounded on the scoreboard to signify the end of the match.

Toad and Toadette heard that sound as they came out of their karts with the crowd cheering for them.

Bowser Jr. came to them and said, "That was an amazing battle, guys!"

"Thanks, Jr." Toad replied with a smile, "I really enjoyed this game to commemorate six years of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe! It was fun!"

"I agree with you," Toadette added, "Coin Runners is a great battle game to play with your friends and no matter what happens win or lose, just have fun and show good sportsmanship!"

"You said it, guys," Bowser Jr. agreed, "It's fun to play when it comes to being a good sport. Well guys, this is it. The coins have been counted on your karts and now, it is time to find out who has earned the most coins overall. So, are you ready for the final results?"

"Let's do it," Toad replied with a smile.

"All right, then! Here we go! Drum roll, please."

And with that, the drum roll starts to play as the Toads turned their attention at the giant scoreboard. Bowser Jr. looked at the board and said, "After counting up the coins, the winner of this game's Coin Runners is..."

Toad and Toadette held on to each other as the scoreboard is adding up the coins they have collected. The process takes fifteen seconds and then...

DING!

Bowser Jr. made the announcement.

"By a single coin, the winner is... TOAD!"

It's official! Toad has won the match as he did his triple jump to signify his victory with the crowd making its biggest cheer and while he does that, the scoreboard shows the game's official results on the screen. The final score is fifteen coins for Toad, and fourteen for Toadette.

"Good game," Toadette said to him.

"Same to you," Toad replied with a smile as they shook hands for great sportstoadship, "You know, I think this calls for a nice game of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe in Toad Town! Are you ready to play?"

"I'm in!"

"Can I come?" Bowser Jr. asked them.

"Sure," Toad and Toadette replied with a smile.

And so, Bowser Jr., Toad, and Toadette decided to have a nice game of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe back in Toad Town as they left the stadium with a smile.
