Girl Talk
Early in the morning, many students were heading to the academy building. And among those, was Andrew, who stretched his arms above his head while yawning. "Another morning exercise well done. It sure is a good way to start the morning."
It was then he felt soft lips suddenly pressing against his left cheek. And those lips belonged to none other than his girlfriend, Jenny. "Good morning, Andrew!" She greeted joyfully.
Andrew chuckled a bit. "Good morning!"
"So what do you think Professor Miller will teach us today?"
"Who knows? Guess we'll find out."
As the two of them chatted, another person was walking behind them, keeping distance.
"(Stare...)" That person was Andrew's cousin, Angie. And she seemed really focused on the couple.
"Are you okay, Angie?" The person right next to her, who was Pele, asked curiously.
"(Stare...)" But Angie was keeping staring at the couple.
"Angie?" Pele repeated and touched her shoulder.
"Huh?" Angie snapped out of it and turned to her friend. "What is it?"
"I could ask you the same question. You've been staring at Andrew and Jenny a good while. Why?"
That made Angie give Pele a sly smirk. "Why? Because I find it interesting that my cousin got himself a girlfriend. I really was surprised when Clover mentioned it the other day..."
Flashback
"Ah!" Jenny's eyes widened. "Andrew, we have to hurry before the beach hut closes!" She then grabbed Andrew's hand.
"Whoa!" He was then dragged by her away from the others.
"Hmmm?" Angie stared at their retreating forms. "What's up with those two?"
Clover smirked. "They're just heading out for a date."
Angie turned to her with a surprised look. "Date? You mean Andrew's got a girlfriend?"
"Yup."
"Big time." Shiori added.
"Hmmm..." Angie smiled slyly while Pele gave her a confused look.
Flashback end
"And I want to get to know her."
Pele raised an eyebrow. "You're almost making it sound like it's a mission."
"Well, to me, it is. Cuz I want to know if she's the right one for my cousin." Angie pumped her right fist in the air. "That's right, Jenny! Angie Mihaylov will be the judge of your relationship!"
Pele sweat dropped at her friend's declaration.
Later that day, classes were over, and many students left the classrooms. One of them in particular was Clover.
"Yo, Clover!"
The redhead turned and saw Angie walk up to her. She smiled. "What's up, Angie?"
"Nothing really. I just wondered if you wanted to hang out."
Clover shrugged. "Well, I was about meet up with Jenny at the card shop."
Angie grinned. "Cool! Then I want to tag along!"
"Okay, then let's go."
The two of them arrived at the card shop, where some other students were either buying cards, trading cards, or just chatting.
"Clover!" Someone called out. The two of them turned and saw Jenny standing near one of the shelves.
"Hi, Jenny." Clover greeted back as the fairy duelist approached her.
She then noticed Angie. "Oh! Hi, Angie."
"Yo!" She greeted back.
"So, did you find something interesting here?" Clover asked.
Jenny nodded. "Actually, yeah. There are some limited booster packs that might have some new cards."
"Sounds good to me." Clover replied before turning to Angie. "What do you think?"
"New cards? Goodie!" Angie rubbed her hands together.
Later on, the three of them sat together at a table, looking over the new cards they bought.
"Ooh! This one's good!" Angie said, eyeing on one of the cards.
"And maybe you can use this one?" Clover suggested, holding out another card.
Angie looked at it and grinned. "Nice!" She then gave Clover one of her own cards. "And maybe you can have some use with this."
Clover took a look at it. "Thanks. This one's perfect."
Angie smiled proudly. "Of course it's perfect. I've seen you duel many times when we were kids."
Jenny narrowed her eyes a bit. "Speaking of cards, I've been meaning to ask." The other two turned to her. "Those Gem-Knight cards of yours are really unusual. I don't think I've seen them anywhere. Where did you get them?"
Angie's eyes widened a bit. Clover, on the other hand, narrowed her own. She knew exactly the reason why Jenny asked that question... The Black Knight incident. The redhead turned to Angie, who seemed thoughtful for a moment.
She then shrugged. "I could tell you, but I don't think you'd believe me."
"Try us." Clover replied.
"Alright then. It all started a few months before I came to this school..."
Flashback
"I decided to take a walk one night."
Angie walked through a city under a starry night sky. She was reaching the outskirts of the city, arriving at a forest.
"And then, something crazy happened."
Angie looked up to the sky and was surprised to see a beam of light shooting down from above and then came down in the forest.
"What looked like a shooting star or something crashed down in a forest and I just went after it to check it out."
Angie rushed into the forest. She kept running and running, moving some branches and stuff out of her way, until she finally came to a clearing. And there she found a crater. It was surprisingly a relatively small crater. Angie walked over to it slowly and then kneeled down in front of it. She leaned in and gasped.
"And, inside that crater, I found a bunch of Duel Monster cards. I mean, Duel Monster cards falling from the sky? Crazy!"
She picked up the cards and looked at them. Those were the Gem-Knight cards.
Flashback end
"And that's pretty much it." Angie concluded.
Jenny and Clover turned to each other. They seemed to have the same idea about this. They then turned to Angie. "That does sound crazy." Clover admitted.
"Yeah, I know what you mean. But even so..." Angie grinned. "I sure am lucky I found these neat cards!"
"This is an interesting gathering." A new voice spoke up.
All three of them turned and saw Alexis standing before them.
"Hi, Alexis." Jenny greeted.
"What brings you here?" Clover wondered.
"The same as you." Alexis replied. "Find anything good?"
"Yeah, pretty much." Jenny said as she put her own cards together.
"Ya know, I thought you'd be with Andrew by now." Alexis noted.
"We decided to do something later."
Angie gave her a sly look. "Hmm? Like what?"
Jenny blinked before answering. "Just a stroll near the beach."
Angie gave her a disappointed look. "Really? I was expecting more."
"Give it a rest, Angie." Clover said. "It's not that a big deal."
"I'm just a little curious, that's all."
Alexis sweat dropped. "How about we talk about something else? I'm a little curious about the two of you." She gestured Clover and Angie.
"Oh." Angie turned to her. "Well, there was one time when Clover, Andrew and I went out on camping one summer 5 years ago..."
"And then, just as Andrew placed the baby bird back in its nest, he fell down and landed in a muddy puddle!" Angie finished while laughing a bit.
Alexis and Jenny giggled while Clover snickered.
"Oh yeah, how could I forget that? His mom ended up scolding him for getting himself so dirty." The redhead commented.
"But still..." Jenny smiled fondly. "The thought of him going through so much just to help a little bird is kind of cute."
"Mhmm..." Angie gave her a sly look.
"Well, I think I'm done rebuilding my deck." Clover said as she gathered up her cards.
"Same here!" Angie replied, doing the same. "And I could really go for a test drive."
"Then how about we duel?"
"Actually..." Angie grinned and pointed to Jenny. "I want to challenge her!"
"Me?" Jenny blinked.
"Yup! I'm really curious about how skilled you are." She then thought slyly, 'Plus, I want to see if my cousin's girlfriend is a strong duelist.'
Jenny smiled. "Sure, why not? This could be interesting."
"I hear ya." Alexis agreed.
Eventually, the four of them arrived near the Obelisk Blue's girl dorm, with Alexis and Clover watching from the sidelines, while Jenny and Angie took their positions and activated their duel disks.
"Okay, you ready?" Jenny asked, drawing her opening hand.
"Bring it on!" Angie challenged, drawing as well.
"Alright then..."
"GAME ON!"
Jenny: 4000
Angie: 4000
"Me first!" Angie declared and drew her sixth card. "And I'll start with Gem-Knight Sapphire in defense mode!" A knight in light-blue armor with sapphires embedded in it appeared and kneeled down. (ATK: 0 DEF: 2100 LV: 4) "Then I'll play a facedown and end my turn." A card appeared near Angie's feet. "Now bring it on!"
"Then here goes." Jenny drew. "First I activate The Sanctuary in the Sky!" Everyone found themselves near the familiar stone palace on clouds. "Then I activate Valhalla, Hall of the Fallen!" A spell card appeared. "If I have no monsters on the field, I can special summon a fairy type monster from my hand. And I choose Airknight Parshath!" From a flash of light, a centaur with a white lower half appeared. He was wearing blue and gold armor that was decorated with white feathers, had a green shield on one arm, and a sword on the other. (ATK: 1900 DEF: 1400 LV: 5) "And then I summon Hoshiningen in attack mode!" The monster appearing next to the centaur fairy was a yellow star with a face, wearing boots. (ATK: 500 DEF: 700 LV: 2)
"Two monsters in one turn, and none of them can get through my defense." Angie commented.
Jenny smirked. "That's where you're wrong. With Hoshiningen on the field, all light attribute monsters on the field gain 500 attack points." The star glowed brightly for a moment. (ATK: 500-1000) (ATK 1900-2400) "Airknight Parshath, attack her Gem-Knight Sapphire!" The centaur fairy charged forward and raised his sword. "And when Airknight Parshath attacks a monster in defense mode, the difference between his attack points and your monster's defense points is dealt to you as damage." The centaur fairy swung his sword, cutting the blue-armored knight in half, shattering him into pixels.
Angie: 4000-3700
"And whenever Airknight Parshath deals battle damage to you, I get to draw an extra card from my deck." Jenny drew. "And now I attack with Hoshiningen!" The star bounced over to Angie's field.
"I don't think so! I play Soul Resurrection!" Angie's facedown card flipped up. "This trap card lets me bring back a normal monster from my graveyard in defense mode. So welcome back, Gem-Knight Sapphire!" Then, a pillar of water erupted from the ground, from which the blue-armored knight emerged. (ATK: 0 DEF: 2100 LV: 4) At that, the yellow star stopped itself and returned to Jenny's field.
"Then I'll end my turn with two facedowns." Jenny concluded, inserting two cards into her duel disk.
"Then I'm up!" Angie drew her next card and looked at it. She grinned and revealed. "Awesome! I just drew the spell card, Gem-Knight Fusion!" A fusion vortex appeared behind her. "This card is like Polymerization, except it can only be used to fusion summon a Gem-Knight monster..."
"Sorry, but you just triggered my counter trap!" Jenny interrupted and revealed one of her facedown cards. "Divine Punishment! With The Sanctuary in the Sky in play, I can use this to negate a spell, trap or monster effect and destroy it."
Angie's eyes widened as the fusion vortex vanished.
"That's Jenny for ya." Alexis commented with a smile. "Always prepared to counter her opponent's moves."
"Yeah, but I wouldn't count Angie out just yet." Clover replied.
"In that case, I'll switch my Gem-Knight Sapphire to attack mode." The knight stood up.
"Huh?" Jenny blinked.
Angie smirked. "Confused? Then let me show you this!" She held up a spell card. "I activate Creature Seizure! This makes each player give their opponent control of one of their monsters. The monster I choose must be a normal monster, like Sapphire. So, which monster will you give me?"
"Hoshiningen." Jenny replied without a second thought. The two chosen monsters vanished in a flash of light before appearing on opposite sides of the field.
"And to kick things up, I summon Gem-Knight Garnet in attack mode!" A pillar of flames erupted from the ground. It died down shortly after and revealed another knight in a suit of armor. This one was red with flames imprinted on his legs and chest. (ATK: 1900 DEF: 0 LV: 4) "Now attack Gem-Knight Sapphire with Flaming Iron Fist!" The red knight ignited his right fist and charged forward. He then landed a fiery right hook that shattered the blue knight into pixels.
Jenny: 4000-2100
"Nice move." Jenny complimented as Garnet returned to Angie's field.
"Thanks. But you ain't seen nothing yet. Because now I activate the second effect of Gem-Knight Fusion!" Angie's graveyard slot glowed briefly before two cards came out of it, which she took. It was Gem-Knight Fusion and Gem-Knight Sapphire. "By taking a Gem-Knight monster from my graveyard and remove it from play, I can add Gem-Knight Fusion from my graveyard to my hand. Soo... let's try this again!" The fusion vortex appeared again. "And guess what, by fusing a Gem-Knight, like Garnet, with a light attribute monster, like your Hoshiningen, I can create the Gem-Knight Seraphinite!" The two monsters swirled together into the vortex. And then, a new monster emerged from it. It looked like a female knight that landed on the field with grace. She was wearing a suit of armor that was mostly golden with some silver, with a pair of metallic angel-like wings and a cape that was white with golden accents on one side and and dark-blue on the other. She was wielding a glowing lance. (ATK: 2300 DEF: 1400 LV. 5)
"Wow." Alexis muttered in awe.
"Incredible." Jenny added.
"And since Hoshiningen left the field, your Airknight loses his extra points." (ATK: 2400-1900) "I place one card facedown and end my turn." Angie concluded as a card appeared near her feet.
"Before I'll let your turn end, I activate my other trap." Jenny revealed her facedown card. "Solemn Wishes. This card gives me 500 extra life points whenever I draw cards from my deck, starting now." She began her turn.
Jenny: 2100-2600
"And now I activate Pot of Greed, which lets me draw two more cards." She drew her extra cards.
Jenny: 2600-3100
She looked over her hand briefly before making a move. "I place one card facedown and activate the spell card, Spell Absorption!" A facedown card appeared, along with the named spell card. "And then I summon Bountiful Artemis!" A mechanical angel with large wings and a purple cape appeared next to Airknight. (ATK: 1600 DEF: 1700 LV: 4) "I end my turn."
"My turn!" Angie drew her next card and looked at it. "Cool! Looks like I drew my own Pot of Greed. So I draw two more cards." She drew again.
"And since a spell card has been activated, my Spell Absorption gives me 500 more life points." Jenny added as her spell card glowed briefly.
Jenny: 3100-3600
"Oh yeah? Well, I'll get something too. Right after I summon Gem-Armadillo!" A yellow armadillo with a bit of brown, and few red gems decorating its body, appeared. It had no hind legs, and therefore was hovering in the air, thanks to a pair of rockets strapped on its back. (ATK: 1700 DEF: 500 LV: 4) "With this fella normal summoned to the field, I can add a Gem-Knight monster from my deck to my hand, like Gem-Knight Crystal." Angie fanned her deck out and took the named card. "And with that, I'll remove Gem-Knight Garnet from my graveyard to bring back Gem-Knight Fusion!" She took the named cards from her graveyard before putting the monster card away.
"Here it comes." Jenny muttered.
"Once again, I activate Gem-Knight Fusion! And by combining my Gem-Knight Crystal with the rock type monster, Gem-Armadillo, I can summon Gem-Knight Zirconia!" The two named monsters entered the fusion vortex. And after a brief moment, a new knight emerged. He was bigger than Seraphinite, wearing a grey and bronze suit of armor with fists that looked like diamonds and a long, flowing purple cape. (ATK: 2900 DEF: 2500 LV: 8)
Jenny: 3600-4100
"And now I remove Gem-Knight Crystal from play so I can take back Gem-Knight Fusion." Angie removed the named monster card from her graveyard before adding the spell card to her hand again.
"Does that mean you're gonna summon another fusion monster?" Jenny asked.
"Nope." Angie grinned. "Instead, I'm gonna play my trap card!" Her facedown card flipped up. "It's called Release from Stone, and it lets me summon a rock type monster that I have removed from the game. So here comes my old buddy, Gem-Knight Crystal!" The familiar silver-armored knight appeared. (ATK: 2450 DEF: 1950 LV: 7)
"She's got three powerful monsters now." Alexis noted. "Angie's really good."
"Told ya." Clover replied.
"Gem-Knight Seraphinite, attack! Destroy her Airknight Parshath!" The female knight charged forward, ready to strike with her lance.
"I activate Negate Attack!" Jenny's facedown card flipped up and made a swirling barrier that stopped the Gem-Knight. "This trap card lets me negate your attack and end your battle phase. And that's not all..." Bountiful Artemis' body glowed. "Whenever a counter trap is activated, Bountiful Artemis lets me draw one extra card from my deck." Jenny drew.
Jenny: 4100-4600
"Then here's a little surprise." Angie held up a card. "With Gem-Knight Seraphinite on the field, I can normal summon one extra time each turn. So I'll bring out Gem-Knight Tourmaline in defense mode!" The familiar knight in yellow armor appeared and kneeled down. (ATK: 1600 DEF: 1800 LV: 4) "And that's all. Give me your best shot!"
"Be careful what you wish for." Jenny warned as she drew.
Jenny: 4600-5100
When she looked at her new card, she smirked. "Looks like you're in trouble now."
"Eh?" Angie blinked.
"I sacrifice my Airknight Parshath in order to summon this!" The centaur fairy glowed brightly and started to transform. "Neo-Parshath, the Sky Paladin!" After a moment, the transformation was complete. The centaur fairy was now a regal human-like figure clothed in a mass of white feathers, with a pair of wings. He wore a blue and gold armor, and also had a blue and gold shield, as well as a sword. (ATK. 2300 DEF: 2000 LV: 7) "And this is when things get more intense for you. With The Sanctuary in the Sky in play, while my life points are higher than yours, Neo-Parshath gains attack and defense points equal to the difference." The majestic fairy glowed with a golden aura. (ATK: 2300-3700 DEF: 2000-3400)
"Whoa!" Angie exclaimed in surprise.
"You go, girl!" Alexis cheered.
"Angie's in trouble alright." Clover added.
"Then I'll equip him with the spell card, Cestus Dagla!" The fairy's shield was replaced by a 'D' shaped dagger. "This card gives the equipped fairy type monster 500 extra attack points." (ATK: 3700-4200) "And of course, activating this spell card gives me another 500 life points from Spell Absorption." The named spell card glowed again.
Jenny: 5100-5600 (ATK: 4200-4700 DEF: 3400-3900)
"Now, Neo-Parshath! Attack her Gem-Knight Tourmaline with Celestial Judgement Blade!" The fairy swung his sword downward, sending out an arc of golden energy which destroyed the yellow-armored knight. "And just like in its previous form, Neo-Parshath can cause piercing damage.
Angie: 3700-0800
"And with that, Neo-Parshath grows even stronger." (ATK: 4700-7600 DEF: 3900-6800) "And not just from the damage you just took. Whenever he causes battle damage to you, his special ability lets me draw another card." Jenny drew.
Jenny: 5600-6100 (ATK: 7600-8100 DEF: 6800-7300)
"And my Cestus Dagla has another effect. As soon as the equipped monster deals you battle damage, all the life points you lost are added to my own." The dagger glowed with a golden aura. And right after that, so did Jenny.
Jenny: 6100-9000 (ATK: 8100-11000 DEF: 7300-10200)
"11000 attack points!" Angie exclaimed again.
"With that many attack points, Jenny's definitely got the advantage." Clover said.
"You got that right." Alexis agreed. "And just like Airknight Parshath, Neo-Parshath can cause piercing damage, so no matter which mode Angie's monsters are in, one more attack will be more than enough to wipe her out."
"Next I activate Graceful Charity. So now I draw three cards and discard two." Jenny drew her extra cards, looked at them, and then discarded two of the.
Jenny: 9000-10000 (ATK: 11000-12000 DEF: 10200-11200)
"I place one card facedown and end my turn." She concluded as a card appeared near her feet. "So, what do you plan to do now?"
Angie stood in place, not saying a word. She seemed to be staring down at the ground. And then, she started to tremble. "Man, this is... totally awesome!" She raised both of her arms, shouting excitedly.
"Huh?" Jenny gave her a surprised look.
"I mean, you countered some of my moves, increased your life points sky-high, and on top of that, I'm now facing a monster with 12 000 attack points. I've never been in a tougher duel like this! So exciting!"
Clover sweat dropped. "Oh yeah, I almost forgot that Angie becomes like that when it comes to Duel Monsters."
Alexis smiled. "She kind of reminds me of Jaden that way."
"Though I wonder how she's gonna get out of this situation?"
Angie smirked. "Well, I hope you're ready. Cuz I'm gonna take that guy down!"
"Is that so?" Jenny asked. "Then bring it on!"
"You got it!" Angie drew. "And I play Graceful Charity! Now I can draw three cards and then discard two!" She drew three cards and then discarded two of them. And then, Jenny's Spell Absorption glowed.
Jenny: 10000-10500 (ATK: 12000-12500 DEF: 11200-11700)
After that, Angie's graveyard slot glowed. "And guess what, one of the cards I discarded was Card of Compensation. And due to its effect, I draw two more cards." She drew her extra cards and looked at them. She grinned. "Nice! By the way, the other card I discarded was Gem-Knight Obsidian." The black-armored knight with pearls appeared briefly. "And when this guy is sent from my hand to the graveyard, I can summon a level 4 or lower normal monster from my graveyard. And I choose Gem-Knight Tourmaline!" The yellow knight appeared again (ATK: 1600 DEF: 1800 LV: 4) "Next I'll play Mystical Space Typhoon! Now I can destroy one spell or trap card. There goes your field spell!" He spell card released a whirlwind.
"I don't think so! I play Divine Punishment!" Jenny's facedown card flipped up.
"Another one?" Angie widened her eyes.
"That's right. So your spell is cancelled out." The whirlwind dissipated. "And as you know, activating a counter trap triggers Bountiful Artemis' effect, letting me draw again." Jenny drew.
Jenny: 10500-11000 (ATK: 12500-13000 DEF: 11700-12200)
"Oh yeah? Well, I still got Gem-Knight Fusion!" The fusion vortex appeared again. "And with it, I'll fuse Gem-Knight Tourmaline with Gem-Knight Crystal to create Gem-Knight Prismaura!" The silver-armored knight entered the vortex, along with the yellow knight. And then, from a flash of light, the silver-armored knight wielding a shield and lance emerged. (ATK: 2450 DEF: 1400 LV: 7)
Jenny: 11000-11500 (ATK: 13000-13500 DEF: 12200-12700
"Angie used that monster during the entrance exam." Clover mentioned.
"Is it powerful?" Alexis asked.
"Oh yeah. Really powerful."
"Now I'll use Gem-Knight Fusion's effect again and remove Gem-Knight Obsidian from play in order to add it to my hand." Angie removed the named monster from play and added her spell card to her hand. "Then I activate Burial from a Different Dimension! This lets me select up to 3 monsters that are removed from the game and return them to the graveyard." She held up Gem-Knight Sapphire, Garnet and Obsidian before sliding them into her graveyard slot.
Jenny: 11500-12000 (ATK: 13500-14000 DEF: 12700-13200)
"Then I'll play Dark Factory of Mass Production! This lets me take two normal monsters from my graveyard and add them to my hand. So I'll take back Gem-Knight Sapphire and Garnet!" The two named cards came out of her graveyard slot.
Jenny: 12000-12500 (ATK: 14000-14500 DEF: 13200-13700)
"Then I activate the spell card, Silent Doom! This lets me summon a normal monster back from my graveyard in defense mode. So welcome back, Tourmaline!" The yellow knight appeared again and kneeled down. (ATK: 1600 DEF: 1800 LV: 4)
Jenny: 12500-13000 (ATK: 14500-15000 DEF: 13700-14200)
"And with Gem-Knight Fusion, I'll combine Tourmaline with Sapphire!" The light-blue knight and entered the fusion vortex, along with the yellow knight. "Meet my Gem-Knight Topaz!" And then, a new knight emerged from the vortex. He looked like Gem-Knight Tourmaline, but the suit of armor he was wearing was in a deeper shade of yellow and had a small mark resembling a fire under a gemstone on the chest plate, and a dark-green cape. He was wielding double-bladed tonfas, with the blades being shaped like lightning bolts. (ATK: 1800 DEF: 1800 LV: 6)
Jenny: 13000-13500 (ATK: 15000-15500 DEF: 14200-14700)
"Next I'll bring back Gem-Knight Garnet!" The red knight appeared. (ATK: 1900 DEF: 0 LV: 4)
"I gotta hand it to her, she really made some good moves." Alexis commented. "But she still has Jenny's Neo-Parshath to worry about."
"Not for long." Clover replied with narrowed eyes, getting a curious look from the blonde Obelisk girl.
"And now I remove Gem-Knight Sapphire from my graveyard to bring back Gem-Knight Fusion." The two named cards slid out of Angie's graveyard slot. She gave Jenny a sly look. "And before you ask, no, I'm not going to play another fusion monster. I'm going to use Prismaura's ability!"
Jenny's eyes widened. 'I almost forgot about it!'
"By sending a Gem-Knight card from my hand to the graveyard, I can destroy one face-up card on the field." Angie discarded her spell card. "There goes your Sky Paladin!" The silver-armored knight pointed his lance at the majestic fairy and fired a bolt of purple lightning that destroyed him. "Time to rock! Gem-Knight Topaz, attack! Destroy her Bountiful Artemis!" The yellow knight charged forward and sliced the mechanical fairy with his tonfas, making it explode.
"Thanks to The Sanctuary in the Sky, I didn't take battle damage because my battling monster was a fairy type.
Angie grinned. "Then it's a good thing my Topaz has a special ability. After he destroys a monster in battle and sends it to the graveyard, you take damage equal to the destroyed monster's attack points."
Jenny winced as a red aura surrounded her.
Jenny: 13500-11900
"And guess what, Topaz can attack twice each turn, so here comes round 2!" The yellow knight struck her with one of his tonfas.
Jenny: 11900-10100
"And here comes Gem-Knight Garnet! Go, Flaming Iron Fist!" The red followed suit and struck Jenny with a fiery left hook.
Jenny: 10100-8200
"Now, Zirconia! Your turn!" The bulky knight slammed the ground with his right hand, sending a shockwave that almost knocked Jenny over.
Jenny: 8200-5300
"Then I'll attack with Seraphinite!" The female knight ascended before pointing her lance towards the fairy duelist. And then, she fired a beam of light at her.
Jenny: 5300-3000
"And finally, I'll attack with Prismaura! Go, Crystal Lance!" The final knight charges forward and struck Jenny with his lance.
Jenny: 3000-0550
"And that ends my turn!" Angie concluded. She gave Jenny a sly look. 'She sure put up a good fight, but there's no way she can get out of this. Guess she was no nice pick for Andrew.' A scene flashed in her mind. With her and Andrew sitting a table and playing Duel Monsters, smiling together. 'My cuz is like a second bro to me. And there's no way that this girl is...'
"Amazing! You're really good."
"Huh?" Angie blinked as her attention was drawn to Jenny, who seemed to be smiling to her.
"The way you combine your cards, how you use their effects. That's really impressive." She then giggled. "And that confidence of yours, that really reminds of Andrew."
"Hm?" Angie just stared at her.
"He never backed down no matter how tough his opponent is. He always kept fighting no matter the situation." She then smiled fondly. "And that's one of the few things I like about him the most. As he would phrase it, 'He never stands down until the last life point expires.'" And then. she gave her a confident look. "And of course, neither do I. So let's move on! My turn!"
Jenny: 0550-1050
'Maybe I spoke too soon.' Angie thought.
Jenny looked over her hand and nodded. "Okay, thanks to you, I have exactly 4 fairy type monsters in my graveyard. And if I do, I'm allowed to summon Archlord Kristya!" A pillar of light erupted, from which a new angel emerged. This one was clad in silver armor and had snow-white skin. She was wearing a crimson red skirt and had a pair of angelic wings with the same color. (ATK: 2800 DEF: 2300 LV: 8)
Angie's eyes widened. "Uh oh!"
"And since she was summoned this way, her special ability lets me take a fairy type monster from my graveyard and add it to my hand. Not that I'll need it." Jenny took a card from her graveyard slot. "Now, Archlord Kristya! Destroy her Gem-Knight Topaz!" The armored angel fired a ray of searing light from her hands that blasted the yellow knight.
Angie: 0800-0000
Angie fell down to her knees as the holograms vanished.
"Now that was an epic duel." Clover said with a smile as she crossed her arms.
Alexis nodded. "Yeah, I actually thought that Jenny lose there for a moment. I mean, Angie's Gem-Knight were really overwhelming."
Jenny walked over to Angie, who was still on her knees. "Thanks for a great duel. You almost had me there." She smiled while holding out her right hand. "You're seriously good. I mean it."
Angie sat there for a moment before raising her head, showing a wide grin. "Right back at ya!" She jumped up to her feet and shook hands with her. "I mean, those fairies cards were really awesome! Especially that Parhsath guy. Seriously, how many monster cards can have their points increased that high?!"
Jenny laughed a little at that.
Angie smiled to herself. 'Guess my cuz really picked a good one.'
"Sounds like Angie was tough opponent." Andrew commented. He was currently walking near the beach with Jenny.
"She sure was. She really knew how to use those Gem-Knight cards." Jenny replied.
Andrew had thoughtful look on his face. "And then, there's her story about those cards."
Jenny looked the same. "Yeah. I mean, her claim about them coming down from the sky makes it sound like that those cards might be the same as those that were used by the Black Knight."
"That's true." Andrew frowned. "The duel against him wasn't funny."
"But I doubt we have any reason to worry it."
He turned to her. "What makes you say that?"
"Well, the Black Knight wasn't truly evil. He was just under the influence of a curse, which you broke when you defeated him. Plus, I didn't feel anything ominous from those cards when I faced."
Andrew nodded. "I see your point."
"I'm sure we'll find out more about it. But that will be another day." Jenny wrapped her arms around his right one. "Right now, I just want to relax with you."
Andrew smiled back. "Sure." They then kept walking as the sun started to set.
A new year. A new chapter. Although, I admit I've been lazy while working on this one. I hope it was worth the wait though. So, I'll be working on 5D's now. Until next time.
