Flameout Chapter 20
Jane quickly put the key in her pocket before she dropped it. It meant so much to her that Maura had given her a key. She was enjoying kissing Maura. She suddenly realized that they were making out in their booth at the coffee shop. She pulled away from Maura and stated, "Let's go back to your office, Maur." The booth was secluded but not that secluded. Maura's office could provide some privacy if they closed the shades and locked the doors.
Maura suddenly realizing why Jane stopped kissing her quickly countered, "Let's go home, Jane."
"I like your way of thinking, Doctor Isles." Jane reached into her pocket and pulled out her wallet. She placed enough money to cover the bill and a sizable tip on the table and they walked out of the coffee shop hand-in-hand.
They didn't go inside the precinct. Jane called Gen's office and told Gen's assistant that she was taking the rest of the day off. The report she was working on could wait until later, it wasn't time sensitive. She still had a few days to complete it. Her job was mostly administrative now, she was only out in the field about twenty-five percent of the time.
Jane had loved being in the field. She loved putting the pieces of the puzzle together. She had not loved chasing perps. Well for short bursts, she was okay however, some of the perps took off like they were long distance runners. She had ruin so many of her pants chasing perps. She was fortunate that Sergeant Detective Korsak had been her first partner when she joined homicide. He taught her everything he knew and respected her. He felt as though she was the daughter he never had.
She loved working with Frost, they complemented each other. She was strong where he was weak and he was strong where she was weak, they were a great team. They had a high clearance rate despite having to work with Doctor Pike as the medical examiner. Jane felt as if Doctor Pike had missed many things in the autopsies that he had performed. Jane learned quite a bit about forensic medicine as she worked on her cases.
At the same time Maura called her assistant medical examiner and told him that she was taking the rest of today and tomorrow off. It was Skye's day to pick up the children so Maura didn't need to worry about that. They hopped into Jane's unmarked when they reached the precinct parking lot and Jane asked, "Your place or mine?"
"Don't you mean, our house or our apartment?" Maura asked as she raised her eyebrows at Jane.
Jane lightly hit herself in the forehead and replied, "Oh yes, I like that, let's go to our apartment. We will not be disturbed there. Do you think Skye could watch the children overnight?"
Maura smiled leaned over gripped Jane's face with both of her hands and gave Jane a quick kiss on the lips and asked, "What do you have in mind, detective?"
Maura was still holding Jane's face in her hands when Jane replied, "I need to perform an inspection." Jane gave Maura a smirk. Maura loved when Jane smirked as her dimples came out in full force. Maura loved her dimples. There were so many little things that she loved about Jane and hadn't told her yet.
Maura dropped her hands in preparation for their drive and asked, "Oh really, what of?" Maura had asked as if she didn't know what Jane was going to say. Maura loved the banter between the two of them. She didn't know why she felt so insecure at times. She knows that Jane loves her and wants to be with her. She just can't help herself sometimes.
"You!" Jane stated with a smirk, "I mean what else would I want to inspect over and over again? This inspection will take hours."
Jane couldn't get enough of Maura and leaned over and kissed her. As they broke their kiss, Maura stated, "Well detective, I think you better drive to our apartment then so that you can begin your inspection."
With that said, Jane repositioned herself and started the car and drove to their apartment. They really needed to have a talk about whether Jane should let the apartment go or keep it just for this reason. The view from the balcony really was to die for and they both loved the apartment.
Once the pair entered the apartment, Jane wasted no time and pinned Maura to the door. Maura had barely shut the door and turned around when Jane was on her. Maura loved it. Jane didn't want to waste any time.
It was hard for them at times to find time to show their appreciation for each other. They did not want to be overly affectionate in front of the children. Well, not yet. The fact that Maura was dating a woman was something she wanted the children to get use to. Maura knew that the children cared for Jane. It was all just so new to her, she wanted this relationship to last, so she still wanted to take some time. She knew that sounded crazy as she had only been in Boston for a short period of time and Jane was already getting ready to move in with her.
They quickly moved to the bed, Jane walking backwards as she pulled Maura along with her. Jane never broke the kiss as she guided Maura to the bedroom. Jane was half undressed as she arrived at the bedroom door and started undressing Maura. Maura broke the kiss so she could pull her top over her head. She pushed the half-dressed detective onto the bed and topped her.
Maura tried to take control but Jane wasn't having it. She quickly flipped them over and held Maura's hands up above her head. "Nope, doctor, this is my inspection and you will cooperate or else."
"Or else what detective?" Maura seductively replied.
Jane had to think quickly, she hadn't planned on having a conversation. She was straddling Maura and she looked down into those hazel eyes that she loved and said, "Or else, I will leave you naked on the bed. I will tie your hands above your head and make you watch as I pleasure myself while you lay there unable to touch me or yourself. When I have finished, I will go take a long hot shower making sure to wash every part of my body. I will then come back into the room in just my towel. I will towel dry myself and then dress. I will leave you in here to think about what you have watched and missed out on. However, if you cooperate, I will let you participate as I conduct my investigation. We can then shower together, helping each other clean our bodies and then towel dry each other. What do you think, do you want to cooperate, doctor?"
Maura didn't hesitate in her reply, "Yes, detective, I want to cooperate."
They spend the next several hours inspecting each other's bodies and trying to see how many orgasms they can give each other. After three orgasms each, Jane turned towards Maura and asked, "Would it be bad, if I told you that I really want to have dinner with the children tonight? I really enjoy sharing time with them. I love spending alone time with you, but I am missing them."
Maura let several tears fall as she wondered what she had done to have such a wonderful woman enter her life. Jane loved her children and wanted to spend time with them. Her children loved Jane. This was just a perfect situation. She hadn't thought that she would ever find someone that would accept her and her children, yet Jane had fallen into her lap and fits that bill so wonderfully.
"It is not a bad feeling Jane." Maura said as Jane kissed the tears from Maura's face. "I love that you enjoy spending time with the children as well. Let's go back home and have dinner with our children. The fact that Maura said 'our children' was not lost on Jane. She often thought of the children as hers but she didn't want to rush this relationship. She didn't think that fact that they were moving in together already as rushed, they had known each other for more than six months. It felt right and that is all she cared about.
Jane thought back to last week when Charlie was looking at the online rocket courses when Jane and Maura had walked in and he asked Jane, "Jane, were you serious when you said that you wanted to take an online rocket course with me?"
"Yes, I was."
"They just posted the next listing of courses, would you like to check them out with me?" Maura gave Jane's hand a squeeze and left Jane with Charlie while she went to see what Bella was up to. Maura knew how much Jane enjoyed doing activities with the children. Jane had a special bond with both of the children. Jane and Charlie signed up for a course together that would begin the first part of March.
They took a rather long hot shower together. They couldn't help making love in the shower. They laughed as they both realized they better get out of the shower and get dressed or they would miss dinner with the children. Half an hour later, they left the apartment each sporting a huge smile. They waved at the concierge as they left the apartment building.
Jane knew all the concierges and Maura is the only woman that Jane had brought to the building. Maura is the only woman Jane wanted to bring to the building. She had brought several women to her old apartment but she had already met Maura by the time she moved into this apartment, so Maura was the only one she wanted to show off her apartment to. When she chose the apartment, she had the idea of Maura spending time with her there.
When they got back to the house later that evening, Skye was just taking dinner out of the oven. Charlie and Bella were excited to see Maura and Jane. Maura sat with the three of them in the living room and told Charlie and Bella, "Jane and I have something we would like to talk to you about."
Charlie was quick to say, "Is Jane moving in, are you guys getting married?"
Maura just looked at Jane. Jane could see the hesitation in Maura's face. Charlie had surprised Maura with his question. Jane and Maura had discussed what they would say to the children but Jane could now see that Maura was having problems composing what she wanted to say, so she quickly replied, "Yes, I am moving in. We have not discussed getting married, however, I will start bringing my belongings over tomorrow and I will be here every night. Is that okay with the two of you?"
"Yes," they both replied. They were excited. They both loved having Jane around.
Bella then looked seriously at Jane, "Mama Jane, you are going to be sleeping in mommy's room with her, correct? I mean I remember telling you that you could stay with me but mommy's room and bed are bigger and I think you would be more comfortable in mommy's room."
"Yes, Bella I will be staying in mommy's room, although now it is our room."
"Can I call you mama? Mama Jane sounds too long and mommy is mommy. There is only one mama so I don't think I need to specify by adding Jane or J. I know mommy calls you J sometimes like you call her Maur instead of Maura." Bella was so excited she was rambling.
"Maur, are you okay with Bella calling me mama?" Jane was still in shock that Bella called her that. Charlie never picked on up it so she was just Jane to him.
Maura had regained her composure, "I am fine with that if you are?"
"Of course, I am fine with it. I just didn't want it to cause any concern, I know I am not her mother."
While tucking Bella into bed that night, Bella asked, "Mommy, is it okay if I invite mama to my tea party tomorrow night? I think she would like that. She has never been to one of my tea parties."
"Of course, baby, I am sure Jane would love that, why don't you ask her."
Jane had been downstairs on the phone while Maura went upstairs with the children. When Jane's call ended, she immediately went upstairs to help Maura tuck the children in. She loved story time with them and didn't want to miss out on anything.
Charlie was laying on top of Bella's bed as he did every night for story time. Maura always tossed a blanket over him as she read them a story. When Jane entered Bella's room, Charlie asked, "Mommy, can Jane read us a story tonight?"
Maura looked at Jane who replied, "I would love to read you a story."
Before Jane could start the story, Bella asked, "Mama, could you join me tomorrow night for my weekly tea party?" Jane didn't need to look to Maura to see how she should reply, she nodded her head and before she could speak Bella had climbed out of bed and was in her lap hugging her.
After their brief hug Bella climbed back under the covers and the four repositioned themselves for their story. Jane didn't read from a book, she told the story from memory. The children smiled as Jane changed her voice for the different characters. Jane was swinging her arms around as she told the story. She was very animated and they were all laughing and having a fun time. Maura placed her hand on the top of Jane's leg and just smiled at her as she admired the situation that was unfolding in front of her. Jane was the missing piece of the puzzle. Jane brought such laughter and joy to them. Maura smiled, with Jane, they were a family.
