Olethros
Prologue
There was once a God, offspring of both Hades and Ares. Born out of deception, Hades had fallen for Ares at one point so he concealed himself as a woman. And they had a child, Olethros the God of Genocide. They then realized his existence was too dangerous, and tossed him into the deepest depths of Tartarus.
Chapter One
Olethros sat on the ground in rags, heat surrounding him along with molten rocks.
"Olethros," A voice called and he turned with the limb of a monster in hand. "Do you wish to be free?"
"Who are you?" Olethros boomed as he stood, the broken chains around his waist clinking.
"There is no need to know who I am," The feminine voice said softly. "But I ask you again…do you wish to be free?"
His eyes scanned the dark red hue of fog around him, "If I am to be free…it will be on my own."
Silence filled the air when suddenly I heard booming footsteps, "Surely you would reconsider before my son tears you apart…"
A being of at least 50 feet stepped out of the fog, his scarred foot sitting in front of Olethros. His stature of simply 7 feet did not compare, The God's power was limited here in tartarus so he couldn't grow fully.
"What a large one you are!" Olethros grinned.
"Krios," The woman's voice. "His power was retained here in Tartarus because of me."
"You must be very powerful then," The God nodded. "But from my prey I've heard…you've failed to stop the Half-Bloods from escaping here, Gaea."
There was a chuckle of slight anger and a wind appeared near the Titans toe, a figure made of pure rock appeared.
"Still cannot fully form, I see." Olethros grinned.
"The power to form my body will be returned once the Demigods reach Olympus," She snarled. "You however will not be alive to see that!"
Olethros threw a sharpened bone at the rock and it shattered, "I believe I will."
Krios yelled and Olethros ran forward to dodge, his arm striking the ground and causing it to shake. Quickly jumping up onto his foot the God unsheathed his pair of gold kopis and stabbed into the shin to climb upwards, gold ichor dripping to the floor.
"Vermin!" Krios boomed and began shaking his leg. Olethros jumped as the Titan swung it upwards, stabbing the side and hanging onto his calf with his blades. Olethros slashed at Krios vital points, Ichor sloshing out as he groaned in pain.
Krios put his foot down and stumbled as the pain brought him to his knees, Olethros quickly climbing upwards as the Titan clutched his calf. Olethros stabbed his way up his chest and to his neck where he slashed away, staining the blades and rags with gold. His scars from previous battles stuck out as gold covered them.
"My My!" Olethros laughed heartily as he jumped to his face and stabbed the Titans eyes, he screamed in pain as Olethros continued to slash. Eventually his screams became groggily because of his slit throat. Then he went limp, instead of evaporating into dust he began to fall. His body crashing into the ground and laying limp, ichor spilling out.
"Didn't you know," Olethros sheathed his weapons as he stood on the Titans back. "It'll take you years to heal?"
He dropped down and began walking, monsters of all varieties rushed past him to feed.
"I suppose it's time to find out what's going on." Olethros picked up a piece of Titan meat and dragged it on the ground as he walked.
It took him days to reach the rock and steaming wall, it's hard and the stabbing exterior made it difficult to climb.
"Who dares place their hands on me!" The wall shook and a hot wind seared his back.
"I do not have a quarrel with you Tartarus," Olethros shouted. "I simply wish to leave."
The silence was unnerving but eventually there was a chuckle, "My, how you've grown boy!"
he continued climbing, "Unfortunately I cannot let you go."
Thorns began to stab out of the wall and Olethros scowled, quickly he unsheathed his kopis and unwrapped the chains from his waist. Tying them together and jumping off the wall he avoided the thorns. Then he threw the kopis at the wall and they embedded themselves in the rocky wall, he pulled and launched himself upwards.
"Olethros!" Tartarus rumbled. "I may not be able to stop you but he will!"
He ignored the pit's threats and continued grappling his way up with his new combination. For what seemed like days he tiredly made his way up, the rocks became lighter and more gray than red. On the ninth day he'd made it to the top, gripping the edge he pulled himself out.
"The underworld,"Olethros gazed over it, the darkness was nothing compared to Tartarus. "Elysium,Asphodel, and Punishment…what a sight, nothing like the rumors."
The God suddenly felt full of energy, death and souls filled him with it. His godly powers began to surge back, it felt amazing. He'd forgotten that would happen because of how long he was in Tartarus.
"I suppose it's time to meet whoever lives here," He grinned. "A fine place this is."
At the time he had no idea what the hierarchy of power was, only the rumors that his prey brung him, and the history of the rocks down in Tartarus. He'd been there since he was a baby after all, he didn't even know who his parents were…all he was told was he was a God.
Olethros walked through the Fields of Punishment, the prisoners and monsters all staring at him. Their faces seemed full of fear, almost traumatized.
"Hello!" A voice called to him as I reached the Asphodel Fields. He turned to find a hooded figure covered in black robes, an eerie black smoke surrounded him.
"Hello," He nodded. "Do I know you?"
He leaned his head to his side, "No, which is strange."
"Why is that?" Olethros asked.
"Because you're a God," He mused. "Yet you are here…where most Gods do not rest…and your aura is unsettling…like his but more."
Olethros grinned, "That would most likely explain the fear on everyone's faces!"
The stranger did not laugh, his demeanor seemed bothered.
"What is your name?" He asked.
"Olethros," He bowed his head slightly. "And you?"
He hesitated, "Thanatos, God of Death."
Olethros' face beamed, "I've heard of you!"
He glanced around, "Where did you come from…Olethros?"
"Funny story," Olethros grinned. "But I cannot tell you that…some friends suggested I don't."
He crossed his arms and Olethros popped his fingers, "So did the Half-Bloods make it to Olympus?"
"They did," Thanatos nodded. "But you should've known that."
"Unfortunately I was too busy for the past few centuries," Olethros yawned. "Only bits of information…did Gaea fall?"
He nodded and a chime came from his robes, he pulled out a bright thing and clicked his tongue.
"I must go soon," He sighed. "But first I must take you to Lord Hades."
"Hades?" Olethros narrowed his eyes. "Lord?"
"My," He frowned. "You must've been in a Hypnos slumber."
He held out his hand, "Come...it's the fastest way."
Olethros took it, there was nothing he could not handle from this strange God.
The space around them warped and Olethros found himself standing in a dark and black hall, in front of a large door. Thanatos pushed it open and walked through, beckoning Olethros forward. He followed, looking around in awe.
"Thanatos," Olethros focused on a man sitting on a throne. "Who is this?"
Thanatos bowed his head quickly and he joined his side, bowing my own as well.
"Lord Hades," He stopped bowing so Olethros did the same. "This is Olethros."
Hades froze, his face stricken with fear. The air turned cold and it seemed to stand still, almost frozen.
"Where did you find him?" Hades asked, his eyes filled with an ominous look.
"The Asphodel Fields," Thanatos brought out his bright object once again. "He refused to tell me where he came from."
Olethros studied the man, his presence seemed familiar. His mind was foggy but it slowly began to open up, slowly Olethros began to remember. His memories from his infanthood, the faces, the names, the history, it seemed that this man triggered something. The joyful demeanor he had quickly changed and his face went from a smile to an expression of anger.
"Where did you come from boy?" Hades asked and he snapped out of it.
"You know exactly where I came from," A snarl slowly crept across Olethros face. "Mother."
Thanatos turned to him and back to Hades who now had a horrified expression, "My lord?"
Olethros unsheathed mhisy Kopis and took a stance, the surrounding skeletal guards and winged creatures tensed up and unsheathed their weapons. Thanatos jumped back and summoned a scythe made out of a grayish silver ore.
"I, Olethros, the God of Genocide have come for my vengeance," Olethros growled. "Your life is mine!"
"What is going on?" A woman of great beauty was suddenly standing in a doorway.
"Thanatos take Persephone away!" Hades snapped out of his daze and stood quickly.
The God of Death quickly guided the woman out of the room and the soldiers around Olethros closed in.
"You will feel the pain I experienced in Tartarus!" Olethros snarled and sprinted forward.
"Calm down Olethros!" Hades jumped to the side as the God launched himself towards him, stabbing the wall.
"You abandoned me!" Olethros eyed him with watery eyes. "Threw me away like waste!"
Hades shook his head, "You were a threat to us all!"
"Us?" Olethros snarled. "You mean the Pantheon?"
The scarred God ripped his blades out the wall, debris flying by as his strength was unfiltered.
"You will soon realize I am a threat to everything you love because of what you did," He threw a kopis at Hades who disappeared in a cloud of dark smoke. "I will rip Olympus,Earth, and the Underworld apart with my own hands!"
Hades reappeared at the giant doors and stuck his hand out, chains made of darkness wrapped themselves around Olethros arms.
"You will do no such thing Olethros," Hades nodded and the undead rushed forward. "I will send you back to Tartarus before the others find out about your existence!"
The undead closed in and Olethros shouted in anger, the chains erupting in maroon flames. The darkness faded away and Olethros scowled at the undead in which they stopped in place.
"What are you doing?!" Hades demanded. "Attack!"
"They no longer do your bidding Hades," Olethros grabbed his kopis out of the wall. "They are no longer your slaves."
The undead rushed Hades, the King of The Underworld retreated through the doors and closed them. Weapons stabbed through the dark wooden doors.
Olethros on the other side jumped and kicked down the doors with both legs, he stood in the middle of the hallway as Hades began to engulf himself in black flames.
"Even if you run I will find you," Olethros eyed him. "Nowhere is safe for you!"
Olethros also began to engulf himself in maroon flames, first Hades disappeared then Olethros.
