A/N Imogen's birthday.
Imogen's birthday had come. "When birfday twain?", she asked, referring to Linus pulling a train near to when her birthday party was.
Patrick said, "I shall cry in my room, if I feel weepy. She doesn't need to shed tears on her birthday."
Linus came by with Imogen's birthday train and whistled, right when they were preparing for her party, which was a lunch party. Imogen and the other little kids played games and then had their lunch. Imogen and Patrick were playing as Sophie helped their parents clean up, but kept an eye on the younger ones. Imogen then lay on the sofa for her nap.
Sophie and Patrick went outside and when Imogen woke from her nap, she joined them. Sophie found Linus on a siding, sad. Sophie hugged his face, after helping Imogen climb on his running board and her younger siblings sat on either side of her.
"Something happened to make me miss Henry, who used to drive me," Linus said. He burst into wailing sobs. He sniffled, long and loud.
Imogen patted Linus, then began to cry and wail as well, putting her arms over her face.
Sophie told Imogen, as she took a handkerchief from the younger girl's backpack, "Wipe your eyes.", then pulled out her hanky for drying Linus's tears. "There, there, Linus. Let it all out. I wish I could wipe your unhappiness, so I shall wipe your eyes.". She rubbed his sodden cheeks and wiped his weeping eyes, listening attentively to pick up on his cues and trying to understand how he felt. "Blow your nose," she told Imogen.
Linus cried more, fresh tears welling up in his eyes. He sniffled again, hard, coughed as he choked on his sobs and hiccupped. He gasped and gulped, shaking with sobs as his tears poured from his eyes, not once stopping and let Sophie offer her comfort.
She said, as she continued to wipe his tears away, "Cry it out. I'm here for you, just to dry your eyes. Feel how you feel.". She reassured him, trying not to be overbearing, pushy or intrusive with her empathy and compassion, just patiently listened and supported her friend in her attentive and practical way, holding her hanky to his eyes for him to sob into as she wiped all his tears away as best she could, when not helping Imogen blow her nose.
Linus finished his cry with no more tears to shed. Sophie dried his last tears away, wiping his cheeks and eyes until they were dry, then put her sodden hanky away. Imogen calmed down, wiping her cheeks and eyes dry with her little hanky and with Sophie's help, blew her stuffed nose. Sophie put the drippy wet hanky in Imogen's backpack and they went home.
Sophie's family went about their evening and then the day was done.
A/N Sophie's birthday will be end of this arc, but the Autumn Memorial Day request will be next in this fic, but other than a shape for my summer chapter, I'm not taking Autumn requests until further notice, so after the early summer chapter, the next Autumn chapter after that will cover the 4th of July to her 11th birthday.
