Elizabeth Breaks a Promise
Newly appointed Secretary of State Elizabeth McCord walks into her new house carrying a few bags from Bed, Bath, and Beyond. Her husband immediately knew what was in those bags. She was not supposed to buy them anymore. They did not need to fill another house full of them. She promised.
"You promised" She startles at his voice. She gives a little nod in concession.
"I did. But-" She goes to defend the purchase.
"You. Promised." Henry annunciates every syllable carefully.
"I got an excellent deal" She smiles big back at him.
"It's only a good deal if we need them, but we don't." He reminds her playfully.
"Okay, I will concede that we did not need just any pillows. But these are not just any pillows. These are jumbo pillows. They will make the bed look soft." She explains. Henry tries and fails to maintain a face of false anger, smiling a little at her excitement.
"Who cares if the bed looks soft," he says, trying to maintain a stern voice, "if you have enough pillows, you're going to be fine."
"Okay, professor, in that scenario, you're assuming there are enough pillows, which there never is." She smiles again. "Plus, don't you want to see the, um," she hesitates and gets closer to him to whisper, "help that these pillows offer me when choosing certain, shall I say, positions?" She immediately backs off and leaves him there, hot and bothered. He gets it together pretty quickly and chases her upstairs.
