CHAPTER 1: Movie Night

DEEKS LIVING ROOM...

"Can we please watch something other than Titanic? I can qoute the movie as well as you can." Deeks complained. "Fine...how about America's Next Top Model?" Kensi suggested and Deeks groaned closing his eyes.

"Is there really nothing better than Titanic or reality shows?" Deeks inquired. "Hmmm...nope, nothing better." Kensi said finding the show and Deeks shook his head with a grin.

He may have been complaining, but the truth was he loved spending time with Kensi Marie Blye. In fact he was in love with her and maybe tonight he would get up the courage to tell her.

SEVERAL HOURS LATER...

"I guess I better be going. Night Deeks, goodnight Monty." Kensi said with a yawn and started to head for the door.

"Kensi..." Marty called figuring there was no time like the present.

Something in his voice made her look back at him with her hand on the knob.

"What Deeks?" Kensi asked.

"I-I...there's something I want to tell you." Marty replied and silently cursed himself that he had not been able to just say the words. "Are you okay?" Kensi asked still looking at him and wondering what he wanted to tell her.

"Kensi, we flirt, banter and tease each other...how about we go on an actual date sometime?" Marty suggested.

"No, no...it wouldn't work. Deeks, we're from two seperate worlds." Kensi replied feeling fear and panic at the thought if something happened she would lose him to.

She said, "we're much to different. We're from two seperate worlds."

and he admitted she was partly right.

"Maybe you're right, Princess, but just think about it for a second, please..."

Marty said looking into her miss matched eyes. One of things that made her unique and one of the things he loved about her.

But in his hearts defense he told her

what they had in common

Was strong enough to bond them for life.

He said, "Look behing your own soul and the person you'll see.
Just might remind you of me.

I laugh, I love, I hope, I try

I hurt, I need, I cry.

So we're really not that different me and you.

"...Look behind your own sould, Kens and the person you'll see just might remind you of me.

I laugh, I love, I hurt, I need, I fear, I cry and I know you do the same things to. So we're really not that different me and you.

Don't you see, Princess, everyone says we have a 'thing' and I believe we do to." Marty told her staring intently into her eyes and pleading her to listen to him, Kensi then looked at the floor so he wouldn't see the tears and fear in her eyes.

Now she could hardly argue with his pure and simple logic,

but logic never could convince the heart.

As Kensi looked looked at the floor she knew that Deeks was right, but still felt fear. She had dreamed of loving someone other then Deeks.

In fact she almost had married a marine, Jack.

But Jack had left her and years before that Kensi's father had left her and Kensi was tired of losing people she cared about.

She had thought about what it would be like to date, Deeks, but the fear of losing him had always stopped her.

She had always dreamed of loving someone more exotic

and he just didn't seem to fit the part.

"I'm sorry, Deeks, but it just wouldn't work." Kensi said and walked out the door.

She climbed into her car and leaned her head against the steering wheel.

As much as she wanted to be with him, she was scared of losing him and now...there was a chance she just had.
