CHAPTER 5: A DATE

OSP...
THE BULLPEN...
1700 HOURS...

Kensi began to gather her things knowing she did not have long to get home and get ready before Marty showed up.

"Night, guys." Kensi called and started to leave, but she was stopped by what was said next.

"Enjoy your date with Deeks and tell him we said hi." Sam joked, Kensi then stopped and turn to face them.

"I never said it was with, Deeks." Kensi reminded them. "But you never said it wasn't." Callen countered as Kensi once again turned to leave.

She heard Sam and Callen laughing as she left the bullpen.

As Kensi drove home she realized she did not know what to wear tonight. She did not know if they were going somewhere causual or fancy.

KENSI'S HOUSE...
1720...

Kensi walked into her house and realized she only had forty minutes until Deeks picked her up for their date.

As Kensi headed to the bedroom she thought about calling Deeks, but knew he wouldn't tell her where they were going...so in the end she decided to dress casual.

MARTY DEEKS APARTMENT...

SAME TIME...

After coming home the first thing Deeks did was take Monty for a walk, then made sure Monty had food and water in his bowls.

Deeks couldn't quit smiling as he got out of the shower and slipped into a pair of jeans, a button up shirt and a jacket.

1800 HOURS...

By the time Deeks was rready he realized he still had half an hour, until he was due to pick up Kensi.

Therefore, the question was...

What could he do now?

Because he didn't want to be to early.

KENSI'S BEDROOM...
1800 HOURS...

Kensi had taken a quick shower, then put on her make up...the only problem she was having now was trying to decide what to wear.

For some reason she felt like dressing up in a dress, this was a date with Marty Deeks and she wouldn't be chasing a suspect tonight.

Kensi remembered something she had said a few years ago...

FLASHBACK

*Just once I would love to get dressed up and not chase down a suspect or get shot at.*

END FLASHBACK

The main reason she was wearing a dress tonight and maybe to play with Deek's mind to.

MARTY DEEKS...
1830 HOURS...

Marty turned off the ignition and got out of the car taking a deep breath to calm his nerves. The he walked up to the door, still feeling really nervous that things would not work out.

Finally he reached the door and knocked, when it felt like forever he thought Kensi had changed her mind, but Kensi opened the door and when she did his jaw dropped open.

"Y-you look..." He could not describe how beautiful...no incredible she looked to him.

"Deeks?" Kensi said looking at him expcently and Deeks shook his head, before giving her a smile. "Kens, you look...wow." Deeks told her.

"Thanks, so where are we headed?" Kensi asked she she locked he door and hoped he had not seen the blush cross her face.

"I already told you it's a surprise, Sunshine." Deeks replied opening the car door for her and Kensi rolled her eyes, but got into the car.

Then Mary walked around got into the driver's seat.

FIFTEEN MINUTES LATER...

"Here we are, Fern. The first part of our date." Deeks anounced as they walked toward a club. "You're taking me dancing? I recall when Hetty tried to teach us to waltz you kept stepping on my feet." Kensi said glancing at im.

"I don't think we will be waltzing here. Come on, let's have a little fun dancing and then I have a few more ideas in store for tonight." Deeks told her as the line moved forward.

"Not going to use an alias to try to get to the front of the line?" Kensi teased and Deeks just shook his head. "Not tonight, Kensi. I can be paitent." Deeks told her and Kensi snorted. "Yeah right, when we're on a long road trip I have to pull over every five minutes so you can pee." Kensi shot back with a grin.

"I'm leaving Vegas for another time, but we're going to Vegas." Deeks promised her.

"We're not going to Vegas." Kensi replied and was reminded of an arugment they had before. "All right, then we'll go to Austrailia. We never got to go there." Marty countered and Kensi rolled her eyes as the line moved forward.

"You're never going to let that go are you?" Kensi asked and again Deeks shook his head. "Nope, it was your diead to destory my shirt that day." He reminded her. "Really? It was either get the shirt wet and short that thing out or both of us die." Kensi said

"Touche, but at least we would have died together." Deeks told her. "What about Monty? Who would take care of him?" Kensi asked. "Good point, well I'm glad we both lived. 'Cause now we have a future." Deeks said taking her hand into his as he looked at her and was surprised when she didnt pull her hand away, instead Kensi just looked back into his eyes.

"Are you two going to just stand there or go in?" Someone asked and like that the spell was broken.

"Oh, sorry..." Deeks said and pulled Kensi intot he club.

INSIDE THE CLUB...

"Do you want something to drink or dance first?" Deeks asked. "Dance." Kensi replied and they headed for the dance floor.

Then Marty leaned forward to whisper something in her ear that almost made her blush again.

"I know this isn't the lap dance you paid for, but will this work for now?" Deeks joked.

"Deeks." Kensi laughed and pushed him away slightly. "What? I'm curious." Deeks told her with a grin.

I guess it will work...for now." Kensi teased looking into his eyes once more and then it seemed as though they were the only two in the room as they stood staring into each other's eyes.

Then Marty put his handon her cheek and kiseed her gently, after a minute pullin away and looking into her eyes once more.

"Um...uh, d-do you want that drink now?" Deeeks asked breaking the silence and all Kensi could do was nod.

Deeks took her hand and led her to the bar where they ordered their drinks.

"Hey, cutie, want to go home with me?" A drunk guy at the bar asked from behind Kensi and Deeks felt his blood beging to boil as Kensi looked at the guy in disgust. "No, I have a date and I do not want to go home with you." Kensi told the drunk. "What that scrawny mop? Are you sure you don't want a real man?" The creep asked leering at her.

"Hey, she said she's on a date...leave her alone." Deeks warned through gritted teeth.

The creep through a punch at Deeks and all hell broke lose.

Deeks blocked as Kensi kicked the guy in the groin, before taking Deeks hand and leading him out of the club before the police got there.

OUTSIDE THE CLUB...
BACK AT DEEKS CAR...

"Sorry, I guess this wasn't the best place to come for a date. I just thought you might want to go dancing and relax a little." Marty apologized not looking at Kensi.

"Marty..."

Kensi said taking his hand and then he did look at her.

"...You asid you had other plnace for this date. So it's not over yet, right? Let's just forget what happened in there, okay?" Kensi asked. "Even the kiss?" Deeks inquried looking hurt.

"Let's just forget the bad things that happened in there." Kensi correceted. "Oh, so you liked the kiss, huh? Want another?" Deeks asked stepping forward so there was no space between them.

"I think we better get going before creepy comes looking for us." Kensi suggested.

"Yeah, I guess and just so you know...I still don't like the fact that your favorite target is the groin. I felt it when you kicked that guy." Marty said as the climbed into the car and Kensi looked at him.

"It was the only thing I could think of." Kensi replied in defence. "What is with you and targeting guys in the groin?" Deeks questioned as he started the car. "Only the ones who deserve it. So where are we headed now?" Kensi asked.

"I was thinking a picnic on the beach." Deeks sugguested. "You and the beach." Kensi said rolling her eyes. "What's wrong with the beach?" Deeks asked. "Nothing is wrong with the beach, but it seems sometimes that's the only place you want to be." Kensi pointed out.

"Not true, Kens. I like being with you on our movie nights and other times we spent have spent together. But if you don't want a picnic on the beach we can always go to a restraunt." Marty suggested.

"No, the beach is good. Maybe can do some more dancing." Kensi shot back with a grin.

"You want that lap dance you paid for princess?" Marty teased. "Not on the beach. I don't want you to get arrested and have to explain it to Hetty or whomever why I had to bail you out of jail." Kensi told him.

"Are you ashamed of going on a date with me?" Deeks asked uncertainty in his voice.

"No, I'm not. It would just be an awkard conversation." Kensi replied and then to Deeks surprise shr took his hand in her own.

After stopping by Marty's apartement to get the food and Monty they headed for the beach.

2200 HOURS...
THE BEACH...

They had been at the beach for several hours now and Kensi was having such a great time she didn't want the night to end.

In the last few hours they had eaten dinner, walked along the beach and when they danced...Kensi was surprised Deeks did not step on her feet.

"Getting tired, Fern?" Deeks asked when he noticed yet another yawn as the lay on the blanket looking at the sky.

"N-no, I just don't want this night to end." Kensi admitted. "You're tired, come on I'll take you home." Marty said getting up and reaching for her hand.

That's when Kensi smiled and took his hand pulling him back to the ground.

"I told you I wasn't tired." Kensi laughed and laughed harder when he started to tickle her sides.

All of the sudden the laughing stopped and Deeks looked into Kensi's eyes as he hovered over her. He could see the disire in her eyes and then leaned down to kiss her. Kensi wrapped her arms around his neck pulling him close and neither knew which on let out a moan, may it had been both of them.

With difficulty Deeks pulled back and sat up, as Kensi to sat up beside him.

"Wow..." Was all Deeks could think to say. "Yeah," Kensi whispered and Deeks looked at her hoping he had not made a misteake with his impulsive decision to kiss her for the second time that night.

"Hey, are you cold..." Deeks asked noticing a shiver from Kensi.

Kensi was unsure if it was a shiver from being cold or the intensity of the kiss, but before she could answer Deeks wrapped his jacket around her.

"...come on. I'll take you home." Deeks suggested getting up again and this time Kensi got up as well.

They gathered the trash, the blanket and then walked to Deeks car with Monty between them wagging his tail.

FIFTEEN MINUTES LATER...
KENSI'S HOUSE...

Deeks walked Kensi up to her door and for a monent they just stood there.

"I, uh, I had a great time tonight, Marty. Thank you. I can't remember the last time I had such a great date." Kensi said looking at him. "Then how about a second date sometime?" Marty suggested and then saw a look of anxity cross her face.

I-I don't know. Second dates never go well for me." Kensi told him with fear in her voice and eyes. "Kens, you just told me you had a great time and I did to. The only way to break the curse of the second date is to go on a second date. We can see how things go...just one date at a time." Deeks said and Kensi finally nodded her head in agreement.

"Okay. Do you want to come in?" Kensi asked him, not sure why they were so awkard when he had been in her house plenty of times before. "No, I have to get Monty home. Maybe another night." Deeks replied. "Okay." Kensi told him.

"Okay..."

Deeks echoed, then reached his hand cupping her cheek before gently kssing her again.

"...Goodnight, Princess." Deeks whispered before he turning to leave and Kensi watched him for a second before remembering she still had his jacket.

"Marty!" Kensi yelled and he turned back with a grin. "Miss me already? I'm not even out of sight yet." Deeks joked and Kensi rolled her eyes. "Do you want your jacket back, Shaggy?" Kensi asked witha raised eyebrow.

"I'll get it another night, besides I'm pretty sure you want to wear my scent a little longer." He shot back. "More like shoot it, burn it and put it out of it's misery." Kensi joked and Marty laughed. "Sure, that's what you say, but I know for a fact that you still have a shirt you stole from me." Marty replied.

"Goodnight, Deeks." Kensi said before heading inside her house and closing the door.

Because she did indeed plan on wearing a shirt that she had of his tonight, Kensi could not believe that she had such an icedible date with Marty Deeks.

Who knew?

MARTY...

Marty got into his car and looked at Kensi's door for a moment longer, before turning his attention to Monty in the back seat.

"Oh, Monty, what am I gonna do? I can't help it, I love her and I know you like her to. I guess everyone was right when they said there was a 'thing' between Kensi and I. Marty said starting the car and Monty barked in reply as they headed home.
