CHAPTER 6: THE NEXT MORNING

OSP...
THE BULLPEN...
0845 AM...

Kensiwalked into the bullpen a smile on her face, the same smile she had since Friday night when she finally talked to Deeks.

She could not quit thinkingof the date they had last night and how he surprised her by being a gentleman.

She never thought Marty would act like that if they dated...

As mych as they had teased and flirted with each other in the past few years...

"Must have been a good date last night." Same commented. "How is Deeks?" Callen chimed in.

"I never said the date was with Deeks. Why do you keep assuming the date was with him?" Kensi asked getting a little annoyed now.

"Because you only smile like that when you're around, Deeks..." Callen began.

"I do not." Kensi argued.

"Deeks came in this morning to talk to Hetty. Then he made a stop by your desk leaving dougnuts and twinkies. Plus he had the same smile on his face." Callen continued

When Kensi looked at her desk, sure enough there was a box of dougnuts and twinkies.

"Where is Deeks now?" Kensi asked trying to not to let them know why she was interested, but curious at the same time.

"He left after talking to Hetty." Callen replied and Kensi tried not to look disappointed.

Kensi sat down at her desk and opened the box of twinkies, but before she could get to work her phone went off singaling she had a message.

Guess what, Fern
D

You talked to Hetty and you left a couple things on my desk?"
K

I know how you are without your dougnuts and twinkies, but how did you know I was the one to leave them?
D

Callen told me you were here
K

Oh, well I talked to Hetty and just have to wrap things up here at the precint. So I'll see you in a few
D

They are letting you come back here today
K

Unless you don't want me to, but yeah thats the plan
D

No No I want you hear. It's just that Callen and Sam have been pestering me about how my date was last night
K

And you don't want to tell them, right?
:( D

Not yet, I want to figure things out beteen us first
K

Kens, stop texting and look up
D

"Deeks, what are you doing here?" Sam asked as Kensi looked up. "I'm here to watch my partner's back." Deeks said taking a seat at the empty desk next to Sam.

"We're not in the field, Deeks." Kensi reminded him and Deeks shrugged. "Doesn't mean I can't watch your back, I've kind of missed watching it." Deeks shot back and Kensi couldn't hide her smile as she rolled her eyes.

"So why are ou back now? How do we know you're not going to leave again, like you did a couple of months ago." Sam inquired.

"Look, something happened a few months ago and it's been worked out since." Deeks replied. "That doesn't answer my question, Deeks." Sam said looking at him.

"That's because what happened a few months ago is between Deeks and I, Sam. So just leave him alone." Kensi warned as first Callen and then Sam looked at her in surprise.

"So your date was with, Deeks last night." Callen concluded putting it together.

"What makes you think Kensi and I had a date last night. We hang out sometimes when we're not at work, but that doesn't make it a date." Deeks told Callen. "Maybe, but I saw you two at the club last night. I was surprised to see you let Deeks hold your hand or kiss you and it wasn't for an undercover op." Callen said looking at Kensi.

Kensi looked at Deeks and Deeks looked at Kensi, they now knew they had been busted.

"So what's going on with you two?" Sam questioned.

"Whatever is going on between Deeks and I...is between Deeks and I. I can choose who I want to date or hang out with. I am a grown woman, not someone who has to ask who she can or cannot date or hang out with. So just let it go!" Kensi warned getting surprised looks from Callen and Sam.

"You two keep denying it was a date, but you just said that you do not need to ask who you can or cannont date. So that means it was a date last night." Callen pointed out.

"So what if Deeks and I were on a date last night. It's still none of your bussiness." Kensi said trying not to lose her temper.

Finally Callen and Sam dropped the subject and got back to work.

Kensi once again opened the box and noticed a piece of paper inside. Looking at Deeks she took the note and read it to herself.

Had a great time last night on our date. How about we go out again tomorrow? I will let you choose where we go.

Marty

When Kensi looked over at him and noticed he was looking at her. Then making sure Callen and Sam were not looking...

Kensi gave a slight nod yes in answer to his question and Deeks's smile grew bigger.
