CHAPTER 15: A BIRTHDAY GIFT FOR MARTY...
JANUARY...
Marty and Kensi had carpooled to work, when the day was over Kensi said she needed some time to herself and when Marty asked if she was okay...
She just reminded him that the next day was his birthday and she wanted to get a surprise for him. So Marty dropped Kensi off at her house, before heading home to Monty.
Once Marty was out of sight Kensi slipped into the driver's seat of her SRX and headed for the nearest pharmacy...
She remembered back to Christmas when she and Marty had made love for the first time and knew there was a chance she could be pregnant. But after that day they had started to use condoms.
Last week Kensi had gotten her period, but had just spotted and nothing else. She had not yet told Marty her suspicions for two reasons...
She wanted to be sure and she thought it would be a good present for him.
KENSI'S HOUSE...
THE BATHROOM...
0730...
JANUARY 8...
Kensi sat against the tub crying, she had taken the home pregnancy test and it had come back as she suspected it would...positive. She took the second one and recieved the same result.
Kensi Marie Blye was pregnant. Kensi was confused about how she felt...
Happy and at the same time terrified.
She remembered what Marty had told her on Christmas morning when they talked about the fact they had made love for the first time and not had any protection.
FLASHBACK *
"I think that was the best present." Marty told her and Kensi looked at him.
"Really...oh shit!" Kensi exclaimed sitting up suddley.
"What? Kensi, what's wrong? Y-you don't regret what just happened do you?" Marty asked.
"No, it's not that. It's..." Kensi stopped not able to look at him. "Then what is it?" Marty asked.
"We got so caught up in the moment we didn't use a condom or anything." Kensi said with a blush not looking at him.
"Oh, well are you on the pill or something?" Marty asked unable to himself. "I-I ran out yesterday and the pharmacy is closed for Christmas. I thought I would be okay until tomorrow, because I wasn't expecting us to do this today." Kensi confessed.
"So there's a chance you could have gotten pregnant..."
Marty asked and all Kensi could do was nod her head yes.
"...I'm sorry, Sugarbear. I know that if you're pregnant this is not something we wanted this soon." Marty said taking one of her hands in his and with the other turning her face so she was looking at him.
"It's not your fault, Marty. We started dating a few months ago and we got caught up in the moment, but what are we going to do if I am pregnant?" Kensi asked feeling the fear.
"We'll figure it out one day at a time and I will never leave you, because I love you." Marty stated with a sincere smile and gave her a peck on the lips.
"So no matter what happens...we're in this together?" Kensi asked with uncertainty in her voice and Marty nodded. "Of course we're in this together...no matter what." Marty promised.
* END FLASHBACK
Marty had told her they were in this together, but what if he changed his mind?
Kensi didn't know how long she sat against the tub crying, when she heard a familar knock at the door, but found herself unable to move.
Because no matter what Marty had said at Christmas...this was no longer 'what if she was pregnant'...it was now 'how would he react?'
It had been the day after Christmas when she had an extra key to her house made for Marty and he had done the same for her with his apartment.
"Kensi..."
She heard Marty call as the front door opened and closed, but she couldn't find the words to answer.
MARTY...
Kensi had said she would pick him for work, but when she hadn't shown up at the usaul time...
He tried calling and getting no answer he started to get worried and grabbing his keys...he headed over to her house to see if she was okay.
"...Kensi, are you here? I thought..." Marty stopped when he saw her leaning against the tub still sobbing.
"...What's wrong, Princess?" Marty asked as he knelt down in front of her, all Kensi could do was point at the two home pregnacy test still sitting on the sink.
Marty looked to where Kensi was pointing and saw the two home pregnancy test.
"I-I'm preg-pregnant." Kensi said at last and Marty looked back at her, a smile beginning to appear on his face. "You're pregnant?" Marty asked unsure if this was all real.
"Isn't that what I just said?" Kensi snapped trying to glare at him through her tears.
"Sorry, I just wasn't sure if I was dreaming. We're going to have a muntant ninja assassin." Marty said leaning forward and giving her a kiss on the lips.
When he pulled away he rested his forehead against hers.
"So...you're not mad?" Kensi asked. "Of course not, Fern." Marty told her with another kiss.
"Marty...I'm scared. What if I don't know what to do when the baby is born?" Kensi asked with fear in her voice. "You did well with Sam's kids when we babysat them and I'll be there to help you with our baby." Marty reassured her.
"Yeah, but Sam's kids were not newborns and we're not babysitting." Kensi reminded him.
"I told you I'm going to be there and we're in this together. We also have a big family to help us when we need help, okay?" Marty said getting up and holding a hand out to her; but Kensi didn't ake his hand getting up on her own.
"Okay, happy birthday, Marty..."
Kensi said stepping forward giving hima kiss on the lips and Marty's arms went around her pulling her as close as he could.
"...I guess I should get ready for work." Kensi said breathlessly when they pulled apart.
"Want me to help you get ready?" Marty asked with a grin. "No, because then we would be really late." Kensi told him.
"I hate to break it to you, but we're already going to be late reguardless if I help you or not. I'll go make breakfast while you take a shower." Marty said and turned to leave the bathroom.
"Marty!" Kensi called before the door closed and he poked his head back in. "Change your mind?" Marty joked. "No, I just...thanks." Kensi said. "For what?" Marty asked confused.
"For being there when I woke up Christmas morning, for not running away when I told you I'm pregnant." Kensi said looking into his eyes.
"You don't have to thank me, Princess. We both made this baby and I'm going to be a better dad then the one I had." Marty promised.
"From what I heard about your dad...you have always been a better man, Marty." Kensi told him with a smile and Marty smiled back before closing the door to the bathroom.
Kenis looked into the mirror a smile appearing on her face. She was happy that Marty promised again that he would be there...it had helped a lot to hear that.
She was still terrified about having this baby, but she knew she could make it with Marty beside her to help her.
