CHAPTER 16: THE FIRST PRENANATAL VISIT...
FEBUARY 5TH...
It had now been weeks since Marty had found Kensi sitting against her tub crying. After taking the two home pregnancy test, Kensi still had yet to make the doctor's appointment. Because she wanted Marty to be there.
It was now to the point that Marty had finally gone to Hetty to ask for the afternoon off. After getting Hetty's approval, Kensi finally made the appointment.
Marty and Kensi knew that the team had noticed something different about Kensi.
Callen had been in the gym and Sam had confronted them one day just before they left asking if Kensi was pregnant.
Kensi and Marty had tried to laugh it off, but it didn't work and they had asked Sam to keep it quiet. So they could tell everyone once they found out for sure.
Sam reluctantly agree to keep their secret.
THE BULLPEN...
1530 PM...
Looking at the time Marty picked up his phone and sent a text to Kensi.
Ready to go find out about our baby, Princess? :)
Kensi looked at the text and then she looked at Marty with a nod, before starting to gather her things.
Marty could see in her face how nervous she was and he had o admit he was to.
"Where are you two headed?" Callen asked looking up from the case files on his desk.
Marty looked at Kensi and Kensi looked at Marty.
"There's just something I have to do and Marty is going with me, since we carpooled this morning." Kensi explained then her and Marty left.
Marty and Kensi were just out of sight, when they heard Callen ask a question.
"Do you think there's something more between them other then the fact they are dating?" Callen asked, but they never heard Sam's reply.
THE PARKING LOT...
As they approached Kensi's car, Kensi tossed Marty her keys and he looked at her in surprise.
"You're letting me drive your car..." Marty asked and Kensi just nodded before getting into the passenger's seat.
INSIDE THE SRX...
"...Are you okay, Kens?" Marty asked glancing at her. "I'm good, just thought I would take a quick nap on the way to the appoinment..."
Kensi replied, leaning her head back against the headrest.
"...But you will regret it if you scratch my car." Kensi warned with her eyes closed. "Oh? How would I regret it?" Marty asked with a smile as he started the car. "I would find a way to make you pay." Kensi said opening one eye to look at him.
"Have I ever scratched your car before?" Marty asked. "No, but if you do..." Kensi began, but Marty cut her off. "I know, I'll regret it. But how?" Marty asked. "You'll only find out if you scratch my car." Kensi said once again closing her eyes.
THE DOCTOR'S OFFICE...
Kensi signed in, filled out the paperwork and waited her turn.
"Any ideas for baby names?" Marty asked and Kensi looked at him. "A few..." She replied.
"Let me guess Donald for a boy after your dad?" Marty inquired. "Yeah, I was thinking about Mike or Dominc." kensi suggested looking at him to see his reaction.
"Okay, what about Dominic Michael Deeks?" Marty asked and Kensi thought about it for a second. "Maybe, what about a name for a girl?" Kensi asked. "I'm not sure, but I'm sure we'll come up with something." Marty said confidently.
"Kensi Blye?" A voice called and Kensi looked at Marty, before they got up and followed the nurse.
The nurse showed them to the room and told Kensi the doctor would need a urine sample.
THE EXAIM ROOM...
After Kensi was done giving the urine sample she returned to the exaim room to find Marty sitting in a chair lost in his thoughts.
"Hey, are you okay?" Kensi asked coming to stand in front of him.
"Just thinking...I never thought I would find myself at a doctor's office to find out if I was going to be a dad, you know? I mean I love kids, but at the same time I didn't have the world's greatest dad and I'm still scared I'll end up like him." Marty confessed looking at her.
"I already told you. Marty, you are nothing like that man. I'm scared to, but like you said on Christmas Day...
'we'll figure this out together.'
Just remember we are in this together. I love you and if I'm really preganant, which we are pretty sure after two positive home pregnancy test...I already love this baby." Kensi said taking Marty's hand in her's and Marty smiled as he realized what Kensi had just said to him for the first time.
"Do you know what you just said?" Marty asked and Kensi just continued to look at him. "I love you..." Kensi began and then the realization hit her as Marty nodded.
"That's the first time you've actaully said those words to me, Kens." Marty said and not letting go of her hand he stood up.
That's when the door opened and Dr. Justine Nichols walked in.
AN HOUR LATER...
"I'm really pregnant." Kensi said in shock as her and Marty left the doctors office after making the next appointment and Marty looked at her.
"This day can't get any better. You finally tell me you love me and now we find out that we have a baby on the way." Marty said and Kensi looked at him as she realized something else.
"Marty...I'm seven weeks pregnant. This baby was concieved on Christmas Day." Kensi told him. "The first time we made love. So when do you want to tell everyone?" Marty asked as the continued to walk to her car.
"I'm not sure, but Sam has pretty much guessed and we can't ask him to keep it a secret much longer." Kensi said biting her lip and looking at Marty as they came to stand beside her car.
"We can tell them whenever you're ready. Why don't we stop by my apartment and pick up Monty? Then we can head back to your house." Marty suggested unlocking the car doors and Kensi reached out taking the keys.
"You don't want me to drive?" Marty asked. "Nope, I'm driving. Get in, Shaggy." Kensi said with a smile as she got into the driver's seat.
Marty shook his head with a chuckle as he climbed into the passenger's seat.
