CHAPTER 17: MAKING DINNER & TALKING...

After picking up Monty at Marty's apartment, Marty told Kensi to go on back to her house with Monty and he would be there in a little bit.

Kensi had started to argue that it wouldn't make since to take two seperate cars, Marty had said he wanted to go get a few things for a surprise.

So in the end Kensi had gone home and Marty had taken his car.

All the time Kensi wondered what the surprise could be.

KENSI'S HOUSE...

After getting home Kensi decided a nice relaxing bath sound good.

So Kensi had started the water and after it was ready climbed into the tub.

She was still amazed that she and Marty were going to be parents...still amazed at the thought of having a baby growing inside her.

MARTY...

Marty could see when they had left the doctor's office that Kensi was tired, so he told her to go on home.

Once Kensi had left, he got into his car and headed for the store to pick up a few things so he could make dinner.

All the tiime still thinking about how he was going to be a dad and hoping Kensi was right about him not turning into his dad.

It took him a little time in the store and by the time he reached Kensi's house, it had been fourty five minutes since they had gone their seperate ways.

KENSI'S HOUSE...

Marty inserted his key in the lock and was greeted by Monty, but not Kensi. He had seen her car, so he was pretty sure she was home.

"Kens..."

Marty called, but recieved no answer.

"...Monty where's Kensi?" Marty asked setting the stuff in the kitchen and then beginning to search.

He noticed the bathroom door was closed, so he knocked.

"What?" Came Kensi's voice. "Are you okay?" Marty asked. "Yeah, I was taking a bath and I guess I fell asleep. I'll be out soon." Kensi said and he could hear her getting out of the tub.

"Want me to come in and help you?" Marty asked. "No, why don't you start dinner? I'm getting kind of hungry." Kensi answered.

"When are you not hungry?" Marty muttered. "What?" Kensi inquired. "I said I know I would have more fun helping you." Marty told her through the door. "That's not what you said...something about me being hungry." Kensi insisted.

"No, all I said is that I love you and I would have more fun helping." Marty said as Kensi opened the bathroom door, wearing nothing but a towel.

"Look me in the eye and tell me that's what you just said." Kensi challenged her eyes meeting his. "You expect me to look you in the eye when you are wearing nothing but a towel? That's not fair, Princess. You know I wouldn't be able to because of how hot you look." Marty said with a smile.

"Or is it because of the fact you can't look me in the eye and lie to me, like you can through a closed door?" Kensi asked still looking into his face.

"I think you're getting grumpy, because you're hungry and I better start dinner." Marty said trying to change the subject, but she grabbed his hand before he could walk away.

"Not until you tell me what you said." Kensi replied with a glare. "Why is it so important?" Marty asked. "Because you could say one thing and mean another." Kensi told him.

"About you, sushine? You know I've been in love with you from the day we met. Would I ever say one thing about you and mean another? I love you, or we wouldn't be where we are right now or having this baby together." Marty said with his hands still in hers.

"Then why won't you tell me what you said?" Kensi asked getting frustrated. "Okay, I'll tell you, but don't take it the wrong way." Marty finally agreed with a sigh. "Why would I take it the wrong way?" Kensi asked.

"I asked, 'when are you not hungry?' Before you say anything...no I was not calling you a pig or saying you're fat. I would never do that to you. You're not even showing yet and even if you were, all I would see is how hot you are to me." Marty said looking into her eyes.

"How can I not take that the wrong way, Marty? The way you said it does make it sound like you're calling me a pig. Is there anything else you're not telling me? The fact you would rather be with someone who is not getting fat because she's pregnant?" Kensi asked yanking her hands out of his and trying to stop the tears she felt in her eyes.

"Hey, that's not true. Why don't you get dressed and we can talk while I make dinner, okay? It's getting hard to continue this conversation when I'm getting kind of distracted with you nothing in a towel." Marty told her with a smile.

"Fine, but no more jokes about how much I am eating." Kensi informed him. "Okay, I'll see you in the kitchen." Marty said leaning forward to give her a kiss.

THE KITCHEN...

Marty walked into the kitchen and after making sure Monty had food and water, he started to pull the groceries out of the bags.

"So what are you making for dinner?" Kensi asked walking into the kitchenh and bringing Marty out of his thoughts.

"Human food..." Marty joked with a smirk. "I know it's human food, but what kind? Spaghetti, lasagna?" Kensi asked.

"Nope, tuna casserole..."

Marty said as she came to stand beside him.

"...And just so you know you are the only person I ever want to be with and this baby that's on the way...it's just proof how much we love each other. I wouldn't have flirted with you or acted the way I have around you from the beginning if I had not loved you from the moment I met you." Marty said his smile fading and turning the conversation back to the one they had been having.

"Really...because as I recall in the beginning of our partnership and before we got together you flirted with every woman you could. You tried to use me as a wingman...so even if we have been flirting, bantering and teasing each other from the beginning. How was I supposed to know it meant anything?" Kensi challenged him.

"In the beginning of our partnership we had a hard time trusting each other if you remember and you're right that I shouldn't have tried to use you as a wingman. When Hetty first partnered me with you. I knew how hard it was going to be..." Marty began.

"Bates said you had sworn off female partners and you told me that you didn't think of me like a female." Kensi said suddenly and Marty nodded.

"You walked away before I could really explain what I meant. I knew that at some point it would turn into something more and I was afraid if it happened I could lose you. I only went out with those other women, because I didn't want to ruin ou partnership or fall in love with you, even though I already had. I wanted to fighgt it, because I couldn't stand the thought of losing you." Marty explained.

"So your problem working with me at first was because I was a female?" Kensi asked and Marty nodded.

"Yeah, but the moment I met you...you changed my life, Kens and for the first time I could really imagine myself getting married to someone. After what I went though I had doubts that I even deserved to be happy." Marty told her and turned back to making the tuna casserole.

"What about now?" Kensi inquired and Marty glanced at her.

"I couldn't be happier. I have a beautiful girlfriend who is pregnant with my child." Marty said giving her a peck on the lips.

"At least we're communicating now." Kensi commented after they pulled apart.

"Communicating now? We've been talking since day one." Marty joked.

"No, we've been flirting, bantering and teasing each other from day one...we didn't actually sit down and talk about our 'thing' until after I got back from my mission." Kensi reminded him as he put the casserole in the oven.
