CHAPTER 20: WORKING THINGS OUT...
KENSI'S HOUSE...
"Does anyone else know you're pregnant?" Nell asked.
"No, like I said we just found out. Things were finally starting to work between us...now I'm scared he'll go back to the LAPD and that we'll break up." Kensi confessed looking down at the ground.
"Why don't you try talking to him?" Nell suggested. "Because it's hard for us to communicate, I thought we were starting to, but now I'm not so sure. I know what I want, but with Marty...I'm not sure what he wants for us." Kensi replied.
"The only way that you will know what you both want is talk about it together. You have to start communicating now before the baby gets here." Nell said wisely.
"I know, I guess I better go find him. Thanks nell." Kensi replied looking at Nell.
THE BEACH...
20 MINUTES LATER...
Marty was still sitting on the beach looking out at the ocean, knowing he needed to head home soon.
But he couldn't bring himself to get up and head to his apartment...alone.
He didn't want to be alone...well just him and Monty. He wanted to go home to Kensi, he had begun thinking home was him, Kensi, Monty and the baby about to have.
"I guess we should head home, Monty..."
Marty said looking at Monty as his ears perked up and he gav an excited bark.
"...Not home to Kensi. Back to our apartment." Marty said sadly getting up. "I thought I would find you here." Came a voice as Marty stood up and spun around to face Kensi.
"What are you doing here, Kens?" Marty asked uncertain of why she would be looking for him. "Looking for you." Kensi replied.
"Why? I thought you wanted me to go back to my apartment so you could be alone tonight." Marty said bitterly.
"I...I'm sorry. I was mad when you said what you did about my eating habits and I guess we still need to work on our communations skills before this baby comes." Kensi said walking over to him so they were face to face.
"I have been teasing you about your eating habits for years and I didn't think it would change with you pregnant." Marty said taking her hand in his.
"I've been hitting you and hurting you for years without really thinking about it and you've been teasing me about my eating habits. I guess part of our banter, but we never really thought about how much we were hurting each other." Kensi told him as she looked out toward the ocean.
"Okay, I promise to work on what I say about your eating habits...if you can try work on not hitting me." Marty promised.
"Deal, I know what I want for us, Marty, but what do you want for us?" Kensi asked. "What do I want?" Marty repeated. "You always acuse me of answering a question with a question. What do you want for us?" Kensi asked again.
"What I want for us...is to be a family. You, me, Monty and this baby. I want us to live under the same roof and get married if we want. What do you want, Princess?" Marty told her honstly.
"I thnk I want the same thing, but..." Kensi bit her lip. "You're scared?" Marty guessed.
"Yeah." Kensi confessed still biting her lip. "Hey, I am to, but like I said on Christmas Day and reminded you again on my birthday.
We're in this together no matter what. I will always be there for you and our baby, because there is no where else I would rather be then beside you." Marty said giving her a peck on the lips and leaning his forhead against hers.
"What if..." Kensi began with tears in her eyes.
"We can't play the 'what if' game. Because if you start thinking about the 'what if's'...all the bad things you could think of will drive you crazy and before you say anything no I don't think you're crazy. We just have to take it one day at a time. How about we go home?" Marty suggested.
"Okay, do you want to go back to my house?" Kensi asked. "If that's where you want to go...yeah, that's fine. How did you get here?" Marty inquired.
"In a car." Kensi said with a smirk. "Okay, but did you drive or get dropped off?" Marty asked as he smiled back at her. "I drove." Kensi told him.
"Did you ever eat any dinner?" Marty asked as they walked toward the parking lot. "Enough so I don't have an empty stomach." Kensi replied.
"Okay, how about I just follow you back to your house and we can talk there?" Marty suggested. "Like a lost puppy?" Kensi teased.
"Ha ha, very funny, Fern. Do you want me to follow you home?" Marty asked. "Yeah, I'll meet you back at my house." Kensi said as they reached their cars.
"Hey, Kens!" Marty called before she got into her car. "What?" Kensi asked looking at him.
"We just had a serious conversation about what we both want. I guese we're getting better at cummunication, but I like my way of communicating better." Marty told her suggetively.
"Of course you would...you like to kiss and think of where it could lead." Kensi replied.
"Maybe, but when we argue...there's always a fun way to make up..."
Mary said with a laugh and Kensi rolled her eyes, before getting into her car.
"...What no comment, Princess? Does that mean I'm right?" Marty asked with a smile as Kensi backed up her car and left the parking lot.
Marty got Monty into the car and then left heading back to Kensi's house.
