CHAPTER 22: Marty's Temporary Partner...
A FEW DAYS LATER...
THE MISSION...
1300 PM...
"Can we help you?" Callen asked when a man with blonde hair and green eyes walked into the mission looking around.
"Yes, I'm looking for Hetty Lange." The man replied. "And you are?" Callen asked.
"Mr. Cole, I'm glad you found us. Everyone this is NCIS Agent James Fredrick Cole and he will be Mr. Deeks temporary partner for a time while Ms. Blye is on desk duty." Hetty said as she came to stand between the desk.
"Please call me, Jimmy." James told everyone. "I'm Kensi, nice to meet you." Kensi said as everyone got up to greet Jimmy.
"Nice to meet you as well." Jimmy said looking Kensi up down and no one noticed the look of jealousy that flickered across Marty's face, before Marty came up beside Kensi and put an arm around her reaching out his other hand to shake Jimmy's.
"I'm Marty, but everyone calls me Deeks." Marty said. "Callen and the big guy right there is Sam." Callen greeted.
"Wow...uh, nice to meet all of you. What can you tell me about the case?" Jimmy asked taking note that Marty Deeks and Kensi seemed to have both a professional and personal relationship.
"Mr. Cole here will be Mr. Deeks temporary partner while out in the field." Hetty informed the team, before heading back to her office.
"She kind of scares me." Jimmy said once Hetty was out of sight and the team laughed. "She kind of scares everyone and she has ears everywhere." Marty told Jimmy and began to relax a little.
"You're kidding, right?" Jimmy asked as everyone once again found their seats and filled him in on the case at hand.
"Marine Gunnery Sergeant Jessie Mahoney was found tied to his bed and strangeled to death with a belt. Date rape drug and viagra were found in his blood. So far we've canvassed the neighbors and there was an unknown woman leaving his apartment the night he was murdered." Callen told him.
"How does a woman overpower a Marine Gunnery Sergeant? Did she have help?" Jimmy asked.
"We were about to head to the bar near his place and bring in the bar tender who could've been an accomplice." Marty told him.
"All right well let's go." Jimmy told the guys.
"All right Sam and I will go bring in the bar tender. Marty and Jimmy go back to the Marine's apartment see if there's anything we've missed." Callen ordered.
"Marty!" Kensi called as they started to leave. "What, sugarbear?" Marty asked turning to face her. "Be careful and I think I'm going to go get something to eat." Kensi told him. "Okay, why don't you take Nell or someone with you." Marty suggested and Kensi looked a little irritated at first but nodded, before heading up the stairs to OPs.
THE MARINE'S APARTMENT...
"So Kensi is pretty hot, huh?" Jimmy asked. "You could say that and she is also my girlfriend." Marty told Jimmy a warning in his voice. "Sorry, man, I wasn't sure. How long have you two been together?" Jimmy asked as they went over the crime scene.
"We've been work partners for about four years and started dating last September. Why do you want to know?" Marty asked. "I was just curious. Seems there is something special between you two." Jimmy stated and Marty laughed.
"Everyone was saying for years before Kensi and I admitted it that we had a 'thing'." Marty explained. "I was married, but my wife died when our daughter was born." Jimmy explained sadly. "Sorry to hear that." Marty told him.
"Yeah, Diana was my soulmate and now Maggie is just like her. Don't ever take anything for granted because you could lose it all just like I did." Jimmy stated and Marty nodded.
THE BOATHOUSE...
1430...
"Okay, okay, here's the deal. This hot woman gave me two thousand dollars cash and told me her boyfriend was having hard time getting it up. Said he was to ashamed to go to the doctor and get the viagra. I mean this girl was very hot." The bartender admitted.
"And you didn't find it werid that she was paying you that much money to drug her 'boyfriend'?" Sam asked. "No, I thought I was helping out." The bartender replied. "Could you describe her to a sketch artist?" Callen asked. "Don't have to she's a regular, but she hasn't been back since that night." The bartender replied.
"Do you remember what she looks like?" Sam asked repeating Callen's question. "Y-yes." The bartender replied.
