Chapter 48

My Dad can Beat up your Dad

(Percy)

Well the good news is we arrived at Camp Half Blood like I wanted.

The bad news is we reappeared twenty meters above the canoe lake, which gave just enough to lament the fact I did not currently have my wings as we promptly fell towards it. Diana meanwhile found enough time to voice her opinion on the matter.

'You fucking Idiooooooo-!' She began just to be cut off by the water.

When the bubbles and disturbance cleared I was face to face with a highly unamused goddess who was looking at me with her arms crossed. I was not sure what annoyed her more at the moment the fall or the silver tail she currently had in place of legs and I noticed that I had also changed from the waist down.

'If I knew how to swim over there with this stupid thing, I would be kicking the crap out of you right now.'

'Then I am glad you don't, it is not as if I planned to appear where we did. It is only the second time I have used shadow travel after all, I am just glad we didn't end up on the other side of the planet.' I said jokingly.

'I wouldn't have a damned tail on the other side of the planet.' She said sarcastically pointing at the offending appendage.

'It isn't that bad, besides it matches your eyes, your clothes well actually just about everything to do with you. It makes you look cute Ariel.' I said teasingly.

'Two things dumb ass, do not call me Ariel or I will castrate you, second watch what the hades you say idiot, anyone can here us down here. I don't want a damned naiad telling all her friends that she saw the pair of us.' She said warningly and I realized I had actually forgot about that part. At least as far as I was aware the lakes nymph was on the far shore near where the canoes were kept.

'Oops may have forgotten about that.'

'Anyway if you think I am stumbling out of this damned lake like this at the moment you have another thing coming, so do what you did back at Atlantis and create a dry area around us.' She demanded well there goes that source of amusement for today. It would have made up for the hours of boredom she had just inflicted on me, though the good news was the water served the purpose of getting rid of all my aches and pains I had worked up.

'You do know you can do that yourself right, you know goddess of Tides.' I said sarcastically.

'I can also unleash a pack of wolves on you. After I pin you to a tree and let the hunters use you as a blunt arrow target.'

'That's just unnecessary.' I said sadly, nevertheless I did as she asked and created a large dry area around us. However unlike in my father's throne room there was others creatures in these waters and I watched in amusement as a fish swam through the side of the 'bubble' only to fall several feet and land on the currently dry lake bed so that I was forced to make a small amount of water rush in and scoop the stranded creature up.

As soon as the water no longer surrounded us, I noticed the pair of us return to our standard limb structure, it was strange to think that I did not actually feel the transformation take place despite the vast difference in anatomy.

'Come on then Seaweed Brain; let's go see if the hunters have killed anyone important.' She said walking towards the nearest side that seemed to show a raising inclination towards the shore and I followed her careful to bring our dry zone with us. As amusing as it would be to suddenly remove it, I could tell I would pay dearly if I did.

Besides if she was suddenly revealed to have a new domain people may have started asking questions. Which would drop me and my dad into a lot of bother with a certain sky god, who I needed to keep sweet at the moment. It would of course eventually make it back to Zeus but while he was ignorant I was not complaining.

(Reyna)

After an afternoon spent embarrassing the Apollo cabin at their specialty the hunters were in a good mood despite the fact Diana and Percy had both vanished to who knows where. I was beginning to find it strange that the pair were suddenly happy to spend time with each other when for the last few weeks it had seemed they were desperate to do the opposite.

It was strange to see to think that the goddess would willingly spend time alone with him after all he was a man. Even if she said she wanted to instruct him in a few of the necessities of immortality and archery. I had not been there for the last time Percy had apparently trained with a bow but from what I understood it was not something you wanted to be within range of if you fancied living.

I was surprised to see my fellow hunters were actually taking the revelation of his real identity surprisingly well, well except for Tania who barely opened her mouth to speak at the moment and Thalia. I had heard from her about her fight with the Titan who explained what I missed or at least the edited version that portrayed her in a better light. I knew she was lying about certain details from what others had said to me. Such as her claiming to have knocked Percy out while he had been fighting back. Whereas in reality it had been the cause of the following curb-stomp battle whereas he had toyed with her before forcing her to see reason.

He had been an excellent fighter when he arrived at the legion even while suffering amnesia and had quickly proved himself capable by single handedly defeating a giant. I had seen him battle Artemis on even footing despite being handicapped. So to hear her trying to claim to have almost won when he was not holding back kind of fell on deaf ears even if she was now my best friend. Then again her father was the king of false boasting it was just that no one called him out on it.

I had been taking part in the practice both using my bow which I was finally becoming confident in using. I still did not like relying on it as a primary weapon like some of my fellow hunters but I now saw the advantages to keeping a distance, it also allowed you to strike silently and from a distance a lot better than using a spear which was far easier to detect, also you did not have to retrieve it after use which was a bonus.

However eventually I had to take a break for a few reasons, the first being Thalia's constant attempts at asking me what I did last night. I could have lied to her and said something mundane but t was amusing if somewhat annoying to keep her in the dark. The second was that the small cluster of Aphrodite children that were here decided they wanted to fail at archery because we were there. Normally I would have probably found it funny to watch a Venus child fail epically at a combat based skill. Even the twins were far from combat ready by legion standards but the problem had been of course that she was with them and where she was, was somewhere I didn't to be.

The only bright side was that Jason had returned to camp Jupiter to oversee a senate meeting. It was amusing to think though that I was officially still Praetor as I left just before the feast of Fortuna and they had thought I was coming back so I had not been replaced as of yet and they would be unable to do so for another year.

Speaking of Jason and her I was looking forward to the upcoming game of capture the flag. I knew it was similar to the legions war games although a lot more simplistic and chaotic if stories I had heard from a few of the legionnaires after their brief tenure here last year. I had returned to New Rome immediately after the end of hostilities and the fall of Gaia and so had not participated or seen the games taking place.

The best bit was the fact I heard the gods and Percy would be unable to use teleporting around the battlefield which meant a certain goddess was without her only advantage. I had no doubt in a fight I could beat her it was more of a question of how much I wanted to beat her. If I could get Jason as well all the better but I knew Thalia was interested in combating her younger brother, who was technically older than her in appearance. Then again I was not one to talk about age disparity after all Hylla and I had spent a few years on Circe's island not aging.

So if by any chance me and Thalia did go AWOL in the game it would leave seven hunters a Olympian and a Titan against nigh on forty campers and four minor gods which could be seen as unfair odds but when you considered we had Percy, who I had seen solo the entire legion or at least 4/5 of it without much problem I was not really concerned.

And so I had spent the last hour wandering around the camp actually finally getting a chance to look around the camp I had almost allowed to be destroyed. I had visited the stables and had been quite shocked by the sheer number of Pegasi the Greeks had in comparison to the Legion who currently had a grand total of zero because Scipio was currently stabled next to a pure midnight black Pegasus that I had been surprised to hear was actually Percy's.

I doubted he actually still needed the Pegasus after all he could fly on his own now, as well as the fact I remembered what his weight had done to Scipio. Though I also realized he had not had his wings when he returned to the chariot, so perhaps it was possible for him to ride again.

It was not as if the Legion would miss Scipio that much, after all he only allowed me or Jason to ride him and besides they had the Great eagles that filled an identical role in transport.

Eventually though I had simply ended up sitting by the Lake shore glad to have some peace and quiet until it time for the campfire, I had almost been broken out of my resting when I thought I heard a girl shouting coming from the direction of the lake. Followed by a loud splash but after a quick opening of my eyes and seeing nothing but a few ripples from the lakes centre, there was nothing there so I brushed it off as nothing of note.

Of course I realized it was a little more than that when I heard two voices accompanied by the sound of wading coming from the shore a little way in front of me. I was a little surprised to see Lady Diana and Percy both walking out of the water both completely dry despite the water they had just walked out of or so I guessed. Well Percy was not a surprise after all he was a son of Poseidon but I was little confused why the goddess was also dry unless Percy was also keeping her dry as well.

'Look Diana I am sorry, next time I will try an not make us reappear over the Lake, how about the lava around the climbing wall at least then you won't look like a mer-oww.' Percy was saying before being cut off by Diana kicking him in the shin as she suddenly noticed me while Percy looked at his leg before back to the goddess with confusion on his face before he looked forward and spotted me laying there looking at them.

'Oh err hi Reyna how come you are out here on your own, where the rest of the hunters?' Percy asked nervously which was confusing to me as usually he was a lot calmer, the odd justifiable emotional breakdown not withstanding. Though I was curious to know what he had been about to say before the goddess cut him off.

'Thalia and the others are probably still at the range laughing at the Aphrodite kids.' I told them in reply.

'Then why are you not with them then?' Diana asked confused. Come to think of it why was she even appearing as Diana in the first place? It was not because I was Roman because it had been just me and her before and she had remained Artemis and it was not night which Thalia told me was the time she normally reverts to her Roman self when she oversees the Moon Chariot.

'Let me guess my cousin is being her normal annoying self and you are avoiding someone else.' Percy guessed with a knowing look on his face.

'Something like that I guess.'

'This is so unfair, when I hide stuff from Thalia she tries to kill me or at the least starts using lightning bolts on me, you just get the whining.'

'Stop complaining Percy, she can't kill you anymore remember so stop complaining and besides that last lightning bolt did wonders at waking you up.' Diana said playfully which was a shock to me; well that and she addressed him as Percy.

'At least I can fly away from whining and questions, lightning bolts are not as easy especially when your wings are a made of metal and can act as lightning rods.' He said defensively.

'So you are avoiding the daughter of Aphrodite?' Diana asked.

'Err yeah, how did you know milady?'

'We just met her mum a few hours ago, when she interrupted my archery practice and I almost shot her. She said about Piper though you were interested in Jason still and was jealous.' Percy explained and I was a little confused why Aphrodite would go see the pair in any case unless she wanted to rub it in that her daughter was with Jason. Which only served to make want to kick her teeth in that little bit more.

'I have got over him, I meant my oath!' I exclaimed even if I was lying just a little.

'We know, Venus told us that and told Piper the same. Just because you moved on doesn't mean you can't show him what he let go, there is no rule against that though is there Diana?' He said with a smile as he turned towards the goddess.

'No but I would prefer to not have the nymphs go out and clean up ichor splattered about the forest.'

'Ok then I guess I could merely settle for beating them a little, it is not as if I can kill them.' I said innocently.

'You're starting to sound like Thalia, just a little maiming here and there. To think I thought you would be a calming influence on her instead she has turned you.' Percy said jokingly.

'Being a sucker for formalities gets you nothing but more stress, I know that from experience.' I told him and it was true enough and I was not surprised when he nodded in affirmation after all he was here because he did not like hanging around with the Titans.

'In any case Reyna be careful, I don't want the hunters banned from Camp again.' Diana said and even Percy looked at her confused.

'Another time Reyna, anyway you should return to your sisters and tell them the fire will be soon.' Diana said in such a way it was as if she was trying to get rid of me, which was strange but nevertheless there was little I could do to protest.

(Percy)

I thought it was a little rude the way Diana told Reyna to go back to the other hunters after all she had been avoiding them and minding her own business. Nevertheless she nodded her head in acknowledgement before doing a small bow to the pair of us before walking of in the direction of the range.

However I quickly forgot when I remembered what Diana said just before.

'So why did you get banned from camp before?'

'Before my idiot brother got send here as punishment, my even bigger idiot brother Heracles was the camp director for a while. Now as you can imagine he and Zoe got along like a house on fire, which is ironic because that is exactly what she and a few of the other hunters at the time did. They set fire to the old camp headquarters while he was still in it and I may have helped a little by putting a barrier around the exits to keep him in there longer.' She explained with a smile and I thought it was rather deserving to the god. Though admittedly he would probably have made a better camp director than Mr. D.

'How long were you banned for then?'

'Until Zoe apologized, which of course would never happen as she hated him, he did not even remember her until she told him. He actually tried to threaten her with Anaklusmos but it could not affect her and so he got annoyed and threw it away, which I where I believe Chiron obtained it. So eventually when they replaced Heracles they lifted the ban, it was not as if we needed to come back often.'

'So that's how it got to Chiron and then me. Though seriously every time I hear about Heracles I want to bash him on the head again, I could try and make Hephaestus look good by comparison if you want.' I said jokingly.

'Father would not be happy about it, after all he was Daddy's little hero for years until you came along an made him look amateur by comparison.' She said sarcastically.

'Yeah that might change when he finds out a certain bit of information.' I said rubbing the back of my head nervously.

'True but the difference is though if my father thinks he can actually do anything about it, we will not be alone, your father and even probably Hades would also stop him. The problem ones will be Apollo and Athena as she will not stand against father. The others will probably be unconcerned about us.'

'So one madly protective father, daddy's little girl and Athena.'

'Close enough though I think it could probably fit Apollo quite well.'

'Is it true that some prophecy said that Athena is more powerful than your father? Wouldn't that make her the strongest god or goddess?'

'I think as it stands your father is most powerful now, then probably Hades, then Athena and then my father. To be honest then it is a toss up between me, Apollo and Ares I guess.' She said after a moments pause.

'So you then, because I can kick both their asses well definitely Ares without even trying and Apollo is useless at close range unlike you.'

'Come on then suck up, the faster this gets done, the faster we can get out of here.' She said turning and walking towards the pavilion so I realized I did not have much choice and followed her across the field.'

AN. Special thanks to GunlessBayonet for being my 500 favourite. Though i am only a 1000 views of 200k and a few reviews from a 1000. hint.

To those worried about what i said about the Kane Chronicles if it does happen it will be more of a cameo than a crossover if that makes you feel better. I am still playing about with ideas so don't worry if they haven't happened yet, or if they turn out shit i will not publish it.

Also to whoever posted the review about me letting someone else write the chapters alternatively to speed it up.

Fuck off

this is my story and i will write it at my own pace, which is bloody constantly. some people have to actually things during the day. i would like nothing more than to sit on my ass and do nothing but write everyday but that is not going to happen anytime soon. i write every evening, at lunch and on the weekend what more do you want from me.

Anyway ranting at impatient fuckers aside,
