Incognitus Britannicus 1 (Genshin Impact x Quite The Age of Plenty ISOT)

WARNING FOR NEW READERS!: This story was first posted in Alternate History as part of the story known as Quite The Age of Plenty which involves a SI taking over a young Oswald Mosley, taking part to WWI and working through the ranks to ultimately secure successful victories and end the war a few years earlier.)

Being back to Britain so suddenly was not something I had expected but, considering the various news I received before my newest assignment, I admit that the circumstance deserved the abruptness of this matter.

A car was speeding through the Welsh Countryside, with a few others behind it as an escort of vehicles were behind the one I was pitching a ride from for security reasons. No one knew I was coming beyond those with high influence in the military.

A decision of Lord Kitchener, one that he mustered out of worry that hysteria may spread at the news of an 'entire new world'. The absurdity was elevated within the words of the letter I received, but as the vehicles finally reached the supported 'door' that was wide enough to allow a small column of standard vehicles to pass through, I couldn't help but dread what was waiting for us on the other side.

It's been a week since this is a 'thing', and the infrastructure welcoming us on the other side was a mixture of a military outpost together with what seemed to be a refugee camp formed by locals that had recently lost their homes due to some 'wind dragon'.

Magic was a thing here, a worrisome detail considering that we had yet to fully establish how dangerous this place truly was. Was magic common? Was it powerful enough to turn our technological advances into nothing to flaunt about?

As I left the car and was saluted by Lieutenant General Goddard, current commander of the British Expedition in Teyvat, I was granted a few satisfying answers from the men on the ground.

"This place seems to be an outright new world, sir. Some cultures seem familiar as Mondstadt just around the corner is a mixture of German and Austrian cultures, while traders from Liyue seem to be quite Chinese in nature."

I nodded along those words, sponging these details as I couldn't help but feel I should know more about the topic. Could it be that it was one of those 'isekai stories' I used to read in my previous life? It had been long enough I had outright forgotten some, but where some details did match up with the genre, there was just something more that made me reluctant. The tour of the camp was quite expedited over the news that the small envoy sent to discuss diplomacy with the nearby Mondstadt's authority was soon to return.

I had the opportunity to speak with a few traders that had decided to settle within the outpost's perimeter under the request of providing info and other reasonable details to avoid any 'suspicious activities'.

What we knew from the get-go was that there seemed to be a singular entity above all, 'Celestia', and several deities that upheld some 'elemental system'. As I was inquiring for more information, we were stopped when some soldiers came our way while helping a panicking young man wearing what appeared to be light armor akin to a knight to us.

"Commander, the envoy group was attacked!"

"T-The Fatui- Snezhnaya's agents, they stalked our steps and then ambushed us!"

Goddard appeared surprised by this turn of events, and I offered him a smile.

"Lieutenant General, I need two squads of four men each and I will see this mess dealt with."

The man appeared even more shocked by my initiative, but rank-difference and the calm expression on my face seemingly soothing any concern he held over that development. Nodding, he barked orders as I was soon marching out of the camp as the 'knight fellow' guided us to the source of the trouble.

As promised, we were greeted by an ongoing skirmish by a group of similar-armored knights against a contingent of masked fellows trying to overwhelm them. Keyword being 'trying' as their numbers didn't seem to be enough to compare with the quality mustered by the envoy's protection.

Nonetheless, the skirmish was getting protracted for too long and it could have been a dire circumstance if stamina was to blame for any slip up, so, after my men took position in cover and had a proper enough sight over the foes' back, I ordered the attack.

Rifles cracked as bullets started to decimate the force of these 'Fatui' people until none survived. A shame that survivors couldn't be kept, but the way this battle unfolded was too intense to guarantee that kind of conquest. Still, as the brawl ceased, it was time to address the status of the guard and I was glad that most were unscathed and no one was injured too badly but-

"Owie!"

One of them was indeed hurt to some extent by the little gash exposed on her right leg. I had noticed that a little red blur was blasting her way left and right, but I had not considered the source of that limited destruction was a little girl with pointy ears, blonde hair and bright red eyes.

As I approached the child, she noticed me and tensed up a bit. I knelt down as my gaze was focused on her injury, a hand fishing out some medical supplies out of my bag.

"Let me help you, little one."

She blinked, "Who are you?"

"My name is Oswald Mosley, I am an officer with those people. But some also call me 'Tom' since it's less of a mouthful compared to Oswald."

Nodding, the girl twitched as I cleaned up her wound and then applied a bit of a bandage around her knee. "I am Klee. And why do they call you 'Tom'?"

"Because when I was very young, little Klee, my mommy told me that I would be famous so she started to call me 'Tom' as 'The Oswald Mosley'."

A soft giggle ensued. "That's nice. Mommy would say that too," The girl agreed and then beamed at the result. "Thank you, Mister Tom."

I chuckled and yet my amusement was brief as I saw her flinch while moving her leg.

"I suppose you are in a bit of a situation, uh?"

Klee nodded, then huffing. "I wanted to see the outpost, but Jean would be mad if I went there with that ouchie."

"Well, how about we escort you back home so you don't have to stress that leg, Klee?"

Her eyes widened a bit. "But the Outpost-"

"Is not going anywhere for months, little one. And it is going to be bad if you stress that injury. In fact, if you behave nicely, I can promise you that I will give you a personal tour of the place. Okay?"

"Really? Thank you, mister Tom~!"

Patting her hat, I lifted her up in my arms as I turned to the group of people, the Mondstadtians appearing surprised but also amused by the interaction, but they seemed a bit reluctant of the situation that unfolded. Despite that I saw Team B tag along the envoy to protect them while going back to the outpost, while I focused with the remaining four men at my disposal to get this little curious girl back home to get her leg looked by someone professional.

At the same time, while this indeed started as a good-willed action, I was looking forward to getting some answers to new questions.

Specifically which country did Britain have to launch an embargo against for attacking official diplomats within another country's border.

And thus Tom(my the War) ended up becoming Klee's newest uncle.
