"Pachirisu. A 95. Excellent work."

I sat in my desk feeling nervous at the results of my English literature exam. My dad may be my teacher but he doesn't give his kids any favors.

"Yin. A 94. Amazing work as always."

Of course Yin has no problems. He's a genius just like mother.

"And finally Yuna."

I looked up to my dad. I never wanted to disappoint him and I was afraid I might have today. He spared me a few glances as he finished grading my paper, making me a little nervous as he took longer to pass me my exam. Eventually he handed it to me and I sighed in relief when I saw my results.

"An 82. Good job."

He patted my head for a short second and then Yin's before he went back to address the class before the bell rang. After we heard the bell he told us to stay back for a minute and we listened.

"Yuna. Yin. Stay for a minute."

"Okay dad."

"Well first of all I am proud of you. Great job on your exams today.

"Thanks daddy."

Yin just gave him a polite nod. He looked up to dad too and often just talking to our old man left him more tongue tied than me.

"Right, well. Yin. Yuna. I need a favor."

"What is it dad?"

"I want to surprise your mother after work with some flowers, but I won't have time to clean the house before Eve gets back. Can you two clean the house until I get home?"

"Sure dad. I always love to help out with pursuits of romance. And you two are literally soulmates."

"Thanks kids. Your mother should be home by 5:30 and I will try and be home with your sister sometime before then."

"Roger that. 5:30 on the dot."

"Love you two. Now get to class before you are both tardy."

"If we are, we have you as an excuse."

"Yuna."

"I'm joking dad. We're going."

Me and Yin rushed out into the hall trying to get to our math classes next.

"Hey Yin."

"What?"

"I know we told dad we were going to clean the house after school but do you think we have some time to squeeze in a little training before we rush back home?"

"I don't know. We already promised dad we would help him out."

"Come on. It's not just to benefit me it can help pick up your PE grade too. Which I'm sure dad would love to find out his prodigal son is near failing in."

"Argh you and your blackmail negotiations are so infuriating. Fine. But if we take more than 30 minutes I'm heading back home early."

"Thanks little brother."

"I was born only 15 seconds after you."

"I know. Which still makes me older."

Yuna 2 points.

Yin 1 point.

"At least I study for my exams while you half ass it."

Yuna & Yin. Tie. Ouch that was a good one.

"Yeah and I'll be on time and not forgetting my things every 2 minutes back home."

Yin sighed in annoyed defeat as he walked into his classroom. I grinned triumphantly as I changed the count in my head of rounds from tie to 3-2 and continued down the hall.

*Afterschool 4:00pm; School backyard battle field

"Ready?

"Not that I had much of a choice but yes I'm ready."

"Here I come!"

I Quick Attacked at Yin and he did the same. We made impact and I struggled a little to gain the advantage which was not how it normally went. I slid using the dirt and wrapped my legs around his neck and supplexed him behind me.

"Argh!"

"Gotta do better than that!"

He tossed Razor Leaf at me and I ran across the field to avoid it. I did a couple of mid air flips and fired Snarl at him. My attack sent him backwards but he recovered and chased me with Quick Attack. I dodged using Quick Attack and when he got close enough I used Dark Pulse.

He managed to dodge the close up attack and used Bite on my arm.

"Oww that hurts!"

"I'm mmrff not going easy on you."

"That's better."

I used Baby Doll Eyes and stepped back as his attack power went down.

"You out of moves next- Argh!"

I yelped in surprise as he wrapped his Grass Knot attack around me and it gripped against me super tightly.

"If you had been looking at your feet you would have noticed my plan of attack. But you're cockiness is always you're one weakness."

"I can. Get out. Of this! You haven't. seen. nothing!"

I used Snarl on him and it sent him back into a tree and canceled his attack. I massaged my aching arms and kept my eyes on him making sure he wouldn't attack again. He twitched a little in pain but charged at me with Quick Attack. I kicked him in the stomach and he caught the edge of my arm with a Bite attack and I groaned in pain having not fully recovered from the Grass Knot.

He recovered faster than I expected and shot a Razor Leaf at me. I retaliated with Dark Pulse and my attack overtook his and gave him a great deal of damage.

"And that's your problem little brother, you can't take what you dish out and that's why you're struggling in PE!"

"Shut it Yuna."

He flew at me with Quick Attack and I tried to kick him again but he used the momentum of his attack to slide under me and sock me across the face. I fell to the ground in surprise as he wrestled with me on the floor and I struggled to regain the advantage. My brother was stronger than he used to be but he was still not as strong as me.

I gave him a headbutt and although it hurt me it hurt him more. He groaned his head in pain and I pinned him to floor holding his arm behind his back and the side of his face in the dirt.

"Give up? It's only going to get more difficult for you."

Yin tried shaking me off but like I said earlier he wasn't strong enough. So he held his free paw out and slapped it on the floor. I let him go and he sat up to massage his arm.

"Looks like I win. Again."

"Yuna you know you have father's strength and talent in battle and I just have mother's wits. It's always going to result with you winning. Why do you insist on training with me if it always end up the same way?"

"Is that why you think I battle you? To show off and make you feel bad afterwards?"

"Why not? I see no other reason when it comes to you."

"I battle you to challenge you and to help you improve. I know how much doing good in school means to you and struggling in a certain subject is probably crushing you."

"Oh come on Yuna. You don't work as hard as me but in everything else you never seem to struggle. Everyone looks up to you and I have to try twice as hard to be my own mon and not be compared to you at school."

"And you are. You're intelligent, witty, resourceful, and above all you have tenacity. Earlier you said you have nothing else from mum but your wits but you have her strategic maneuvering not just on the battlefield but how you tackle down every subject. And like dad you are pretty caring and you always make him proud everyday. You look up to him like I do right?"

"Yeah. I just want to keep making him proud. Failing in PE, I feel like I'm letting him down and it's so simple to everyone else."

"You know dad said mom used to struggle in PE when she was in school?"

"He did?"

"Yeah. So you are not like me. I'm more like dad just a little more arrogant and you're like mom and you evolve your skills just like her. And look at what she's accomplished. I'm more than positive you can do the same and then some."

"Well I am the smarter twin."

"Shut up you little twerp. I'm trying to cheer you up."

"Hahahaha, I know. I was just messing with you."

I held out my paw to help him up and he took it.

"Ah Yuna! What time is it?"

"Why it's just barely after 4:4- Shit!"

"It's already 4:45 and we haven't even gotten home yet!"

"Yeah let's go."

Me and Yin ran to pick up our bags and rushed to catch the bus home.

*5:25pm

Me and Yin sat on the couch panting and drinking some Soda and we looked around the house to see our handiwork.

"Well that sucked."

"It was your idea to battle after class. If we came back home straight after school we would have finished cleaning 10 minutes ago."

"Well do you want to half ass clean the house and make dad clean even more after a long day at work or do you want to get it done right without pissing dad off?"

"Second one preferably."

"That's what I thought."

"Kids I'm home."

"Yuna! Yin!"

Me and Yin both smiled as our little sister Vivienne came rushing towards us with a drawing in her cute little paws.

"Look I drew a Tawbewy at school. Do you like it?"

"Look at you little artist. Is it for me?"

"No sis it's for mommy."

"Well it's still very good."

"I think I need to help you with your pronouncing studies Vivi."

"Pronoucee what?"

"Never mind."

"Thanks for cleaning the house kids. I can get a quick dinner started before your mom gets back. She told me that her train was late today so she'll be home at 5:45."

"Need some help dad?"

"No I got it. But thank you."

"Daddy got mommy flowers cuz he loves her."

"That I do Vivi that I do."

"Aww I ship it."

"You what?"

"Never mind you unromantic dork."

"I beg to differ I am plenty romantic."

"Right. Remind me again about your situation with a certain Ice Pokémon this morning or do you want me to recall that?"

"I'll ask her when I'm good and ready. In the meantime have you even told dad about you-know-who?"

"Shhh. Not yet."

"why not?"

"Because I'm not ready either."

"I see how it is. Tell you what I'll ask Luce out the day you introduce Him to dad and mum."

"Fine deal."

"What are two whispering about over there?"

"Nothing dad."

"Sureeee you weren't."

"Yin!"

"Hehehahahaha!"

Eventually we dropped the conversation and dad finished making sushi just minutes before mum came back from work. Dad smoothly brought out the flowers as she was about to lean over to kiss him and she planted a big old kiss on his mouth to thank him. Yin ignored them and read a textbook, I blushed and nearly shouted Otp at them. Vivi wanted some love too and eventually my parents scooped her up and they both hugged her. When she was satisfied, she walked away and my parents did their daily display of affection to each other that lasts about 5 minutes.

"Eww PDA! But still so cute!"

My parents taught me everything on romance and soulmates. When I'm ready someday I hope to have a husband like my dad is to my mum. Once my parents finished we all sat down and ate fake sushi together.
