I sat down at the table in the food court and waited for him to show up like always.

"Yuna."

I looked up happily to see grandpa Umbreon with another gift in his arms. I fought the urge to hug him since we've been having casual chats for only 10 days now. He didn't seem so bad to talk to, he always asked how my day was and how his son is doing. He told me every time he tried to talk to my family they shut him down and refused to listen to him and that's he a changed mon now.

I thought maybe my parents we're wrong about him and I could give him a chance, and maybe even have another grandpa in my life.

"Here I bought you this. I know you mentioned wanting one to catalog your workout routine."

"Is this what I think it is?!"

I smiled happily as I pried opened the small box and gasped in joy to see the smart watch that I wanted in the window of Starfruit TV.

"It's in my favorite color too. Thank you."

"Anything for my granddaughter."

I felt joy and wondered why grandpa Leafy never spent time with me like this and ask about my interests.

~Same restaurant just five tables away

*Yin

I sat there in disbelief as I saw my sister talking to that mon that my dad literally fought off before who had claimed to be our grandpa. And after dad already told us to stay away from him.

They talked for about 30 minutes before he left and Yuna sat there in her chair happy and looking at a gift he bought for her.

I was confused why she was even talking to him and it took a lot of restraint to not go over there and demand answers from her. Not until I understand what he wanted from Yuna. I won't get any answers if I butt in now, then I will never get through to her.

And this is my sister we're talking about. She was too trusting.

~ Yuna

I packed some poke puffs in my backpack as I left to go meet grandpa at the mall as usual. I hope he likes them even if I'm alright at cooking.

Only this time I wasn't planning on my brother catching me.

"Yuna, where are you going?"

I flinched in surprise as I saw my brother standing by the stairway with his arms crossed. As if he had been waiting for me.

"To the mall with the girls."

"No you're not."

"What do you mean I'm not?"

"I know you're meeting with dad's father."

"What?! Have you been spying on me?!"

"Yes because I was worried about you."

"What I do in my free time in none of your business!"

"Talking to someone you barely know like family is definitely a cause for concern!"

"You're just jealous that I found someone who actually cares about what I like and takes time to talk to me, instead of studying all day like some loser. And maybe you would have better luck with Luce if you would just ask me what to do, someone who actually has a boyfriend! But you're just pathetic mon who tries and fails to be like me!"

I held a paw to my mouth startled that I just said something so mean to him. Yin stared at me in surprise and lowered his ears in disbelief and hurt at what I just said.

"Yin I'm sorry I didn't mean to-"

"I guess you said what you wanted to say all along. Go ahead then I won't stop you. Seeing as I don't care about you and don't talk to you apparently."

"Yin. I- I'm so sorr-"

He slammed the door behind him and left me in the hallway in silence. I teared up and had to swallow the lump in my throat as I walked downstairs not really feeling happy but just desperately needed a distraction.

*Yin

I sat on the edge of my bed on the verge of tears and fought so hard not to cry. Why can't she understand that I'm just looking out for her? I know she didn't mean what she said but why do I have such a hard time ignoring it?

A single tear dropped from my cheek and I knew I didn't want to be alone anymore. So I slipped on a hoodie and went to the one place where I always felt welcomed.

I knocked on the door and I rubbed my eyes as I tried to not show that I was crying recently. The door opened and I smiled weakly at Uncle Ryu, who looked like he just got off his shift at the station.

"Oh hey Yin. How are you?"

"I'm doing just fine sir. Is Luce here?"

"Luce? Yes she's upstairs in her room. Luce! Yin is here to see you."

"Coming!"

"Come in son."

"Thank you."

I walked into the studio apartment and stood there awkwardly at the bottom of the stairs waiting for her.

"Yin? Are you alright?"

"Yes yes I'm fine."

"From your aura I can tell something is hurting you. Are you sure?"

"I can assure you Mr Ryu I am-"

"Yin! There you are!"

She ran down the rest of the stairs and hugged me, making me flush nervously as her dad was standing right beside me. I dared a look at him and he stared down at us nonchalantly.

"Dad please stop glaring."

"I was not. I just had no idea about. you. two."

"Well now you know. And if you don't mind daddy I'm going to take him upstairs for bit. It won't be long."

I couldn't get a word out before she yanked me upstairs and I tried my best to mouth out an apology as he simply watched us head to her room. She shut the door behind her before her cheerful facade faded and she turned to me in concern.

"Yin are you okay? You sounded a little sad in your texts."

"*sigh No I'm honestly not Luce."

I said as I sat in her pink beanbag with my paws on my knees.

"I can read aura just like my dad and I could tell the moment you walked in that something was bothering you."

Luce saw me looking down on the ground and she sat beside me in the chair.

"Did something happen?"

I nodded and reluctantly told her about my encounter with Yuna earlier and what she said to me. When I finished she looked down not knowing what to do or say because she didn't expect that from Yuna either.

"And part of me is actually believing that she really thinks that of me and I hate it so much. I am pretty pathetic."

Luce turned to me in surprise and held my face and forced me to look at her.

"No I will not hear you say that about yourself. You are the most determined and smartest mon that I know. You are not trying to be like your sister, you try to push yourself and improve more than you give yourself credit for. You are pretty dang amazing and I wish you would see yourself the way I see you Yin."

I teared up and started crying softly into my lap. Luce loosened her grip on my face and instead wrapped her arms around me and I placed my head onto her shoulder. I sat there crying for I don't know how long but I let my pain out. And Luce stayed there the whole time beside me not saying a word.

Eventually I had to stop when my phone rang and I sat up in annoyance and wiped my eyes and cleared my throat before answering it.

"Hello?"

"YIN! PLEASE HELP ME!"

"Y-Yuna? What's wrong why are you screaming?"

"YOU WE'RE RIGHT ABOUT HIM! HE TRIED TAKING ME AND I'M SO SCARED RIGHT NOW! I'M SCARED HE'S GOING TO FIND ME!"

"Slow down. Whose trying to take you?!"

"UMBREON! I MENTIONED YOU WARNING ME ABOUT HIM ONCE AND HE GOT ANGRY AND ATTACKED ME FOR NO REASON AT ALL! I MANAGED TO GET AWAY FROM HIM BUT I KNOW HE'S CLOSE BY! PLEASE HELP ME YIN!"

"Okay Yuna! Try to hide for now and call the police! And me and Luce will come get you! Where are you?!

"In some construction area by the city I'm not sure where..."

"I know exactly where you are! Hide somewhere, stay quiet and me and Luce will be there in 5 minutes."

"Okay I'll do that- AAAAAHHHHHHH!"

I heard the sounds of struggling on the other end and my heart sank when I heard my sister screaming and running away before the call was cut off.

"No no no no no no no no!"

I ran out the door and Luce ran after me as my heart raced, silently praying my sister would be okay.
