~ Yuna

*knock knock knock knock knock*

"One second!"

I waited until my grandpa came and answered the door.

"Yuna? What's wrong?"

I smiled a bit, knowing I couldn't hide anything from him even if I wanted to.

He was right. I was having doubts about myself along with cursing my existence, and thinking about not very healthy things.

"Can I come in and talk?"

"Sure come on in."

I took a sad walk inside and followed my grandpa to the kitchen, where I found a small pot of an Oran Berry bush on top of the table.

"Where's Grandma Leaf?"

"She's upstairs taking a nap. Running the store together has gotten a lot more tiring with our age."

"That's the thing. We live our lives and at some point when it's time to retire we can say 'we did it.' But how about making a choice in life that is with you always, that you can never take back?"

"What kind of mistake?"

"Don't you ever plan out the life you wanted to have, but when you learn of the hardships and then your view of yourself starts to change? Don't you ever regret it?"

"That's the thing about life. Things change. The Pokémon you know change. And most importantly you go through changes. It's all reflected on our life choices that determines how everything works out."

"So if I decide this is the Pokémon I wanted to be I have to deal with the fact that I am an evil Pokémon that wants to hurt others? All because I'm a dark type?"

My grandpa looked at me in surprise as I started tearing up and telling him the thoughts that have been clouding my mind.

"Am I going to end up like...like...that monster? Because this is what I chose to be? Do you guys hate me? For what I am?"

"Yuna. Come here."

I reluctantly walked over to my grandpa and looked up at him with tears coming down my eyes.

"The Pokémon you evolved into is what you believed you are deep down. It has nothing to do with typing or your heritage. You are a dark type but you are a good, brilliant, beautiful, and talented Pokémon. Your parents didn't decide your life for you. You did. They let you choose what you believed was best for you. They want you to be happy and let you know they will always love you no matter what choices you make. And your grandparents love you and never once thought you made a mistake into who you evolved into. You're our granddaughter and that's all that matters to us."

I gasped in surprise and felt slightly stupid for doubting my family for a single second. I started sobbing and my eyes blinked blearily with tears.

"Yuna you are the Pokémon you are. Doubt yourself and you let the worst part of you win. Don't worry you will figure everything out just not all in one day and that's okay. The one thing I know you will never be is a monster. You will be just Yuna. And when you reach the best you can be, you will shine brighter than the moon."

I cried loudly and ran to my grandpa to give him a crushing hug. It took some time for him to calm me down but my worries slowly floated away and I couldn't be happier than I was in that moment.

Once I was more calmer me and grandpa had tea together and deep down I was glad I had someone I could talk to and share my troubles to and bond with. And even learned that my parents will always be behind the door when I want to open it for them.

~ Gavin

"This looks like a place to collect a down payment. Hehehehe!!"

Charizard laughed as we all stood outside a closed department store as he tied his red bandana over his mouth and the others followed. I tied the red bandana over my mouth to conceal my identity last.

"You do the honors, Gavin?"

He said in his usual mocking tone to demeanor me with my real name, as he offered me a metal bat to smash the window in and the others laughed with him. I growled at them as I took the bat with an angry swipe.

I swung the bat with all my might at the window. It broke with a loud crash and an alarm rang loudly startling all five of us.

"Sh*t! Our covers blown! F*@king run!"

They all bolted instantly Kabutops pushing me out of the way and I fell to the floor just before I could run with them.

"Hey! WAIT THE F*CK UP!"

I scrambled to get up as they took off in the direction of our base. I ran like a demon was right on my tail and fought to catch up with them.

We ran for about 7 minutes before we all made it to the abandoned car compactor factory with pieces of long forgotten cars surrounding our base of operations. Honestly it's more like a biker's shack than a place to live but I crash here whenever I get kicked out of an apartment for not being able to pay the rent. It's whatever to me.

Today I wasn't allowed inside the base.

"Nah you are a f*@king idiot Gabite. We nearly got caught because of your dumbass! You're sleeping outside tonight!"

"Argh you %}*%@*#!"

I did get kicked out of my apartment and it annoyed me to shit to have to look for a new one. My belongings were tucked away in a backpack I hid underneath a car here.

I was not looking forward to have to sleep on the backseat of an old junker again. I reached for my bandana in annoyance as I often do when I noticed it wasn't on me anymore.

"*#%&@%#%! I can't lose it! I'm a f*%@ing gangster!"

I growled as I scrambled to find my bandana, and started retracing my steps to see if I could find it. After looking frantically for a few minutes I sighed in relief when I found it on the sidewalk.

"There you are. Come to papa."

I was about to grab it when someone else beat me to it.

"Ahh! You scared me you big donkey!"

"Squirrel."

"I told you to stop calling me that! And you can have your ugly thing back it smells terrible. Like you haven't had a shower in a week."

"I haven't had one in a week you dumbass."

"Now there's no need to get offensive. I was just pointing out the obvious."

"Whatever. I don't need this."

I said as I angrily got up and walked back the way I came.

"Hey!"

"What?"

"You need to freshen up right? You can do that if you want to. Only because I feel sorry for you."

I stared at her with the blankest expression on my face. Did I just get offered a free shower?

"Are you shitting me?"

"No I don't think so. Anyways I'll only ask once just to try and make some common ground by returning the favor since you helped me out once and got those jerks off my back."

"...Fine. But don't you ever pity me again."

"Understood."

*At Pachi's family house which is oddly a private studio apartment

"This way."

I followed squirrel through the front door cautiously, afraid an alarm would sound off because I looked like I was always up to no good.

"Won't your parents be upset if I'm in here?"

"Oh please they spend more time on work trips than actually coming home for dinner. I doubt they would even care if I left the shower on for 3 months."

"..."

"Or if I had a guest over. For you they'd might make an exception so just don't touch anything. And don't get any ideas."

"Thanks but no thanks. I don't want your folks to kick my ass because I touched an expensive vase."

"Right. The shower's upstairs on the right. I'm gonna go put my things away in my room."

"Whatever."

I said as I headed into the bathroom and shut the door behind me.

"What the- What kind of work do her parents do? This bathroom is fancier than any f@ apartment I've ever slept in."

I felt like I stepped into one of those space program rooms in the movies where everything is in one color and clean. I admired the room for a few minutes more before I figured out how the shower worked and took the best shower in my life. I stepped out drying myself with a towel when I noticed my backpack carrying my things was missing.

"Where the fucks my stuff?!"

"Sorry! I noticed your backpack also smelled and I found the pile of laundry inside. So I took it for a bit to wash your clothes!"

"What the hell am I supposed to wear now?"

"Just wait in there and I'll bring you something!"

"Auggghhhh!!!!"

I tapped my foot impatiently and waited until I heard knocking and quick scampering away. I opened the door and found a hoodie and t shirt hanging on the doorknob outside. I put them on and surprisingly the threads fit perfectly. I headed outside the bathroom and shut the door. And then I found the squirrel heading back over with my backpack.

"Wow I'm surprised the clothes fit. Your laundry just finished in the dryer. They're in the bag."

"Thanks."

I took my backpack and slipped it on my shoulders. And then it turned awkward as we both said nothing.

"Thanks for the clothes. Seeya or whatever."

"Yeah. Seeya."

I left and headed back to the same old car where I currently sleep.
