Chapter 86: A Day to Relax
Hello everyone, this chapter will focus on the group reaching an island where they plan on relaxing. I hope you all enjoy it.
The chapter begins one day after the last chapter ended as we see the group still riding on Lapras's back as she continues to swim. Lapras keeps swimming until Misty sees an island up ahead and speaks.
"Look it's an island!" Misty says making the others look too as Leaf speaks.
"Is that the island we're staying at?" Leaf asks as Tracey speaks.
"Yep, that's right" Tracey answers with Leaf nodding as Ash speaks.
"Okay Lapras full speed ahead!" Ash says with Lapras nodding as she begins to swim faster. A couple minutes later Lapras makes it to the shore and allows the group to get off her back. Ash tells Lapras thank you and returns her to her Pokeball. Once he does that, he looks at Tracey and speaks.
"Okay so where do we go now?" Ash asks as Tracey speaks.
"In my guidebook it says that there should be a big clearing up ahead" Tracey says with the group nodding as he begins to walk forward as the 3 kids follow him. 10 minutes later we see the group walking through a forest. They continue to walk until they make it out of the forest as Tracey speaks.
"And here it is" Tracey says as he along with the others see a big open area that's filled with grass and has a small lake. The group look at it in awe as Leaf speaks.
"It looks so pretty!" Leaf says as Misty speaks.
"I absolutely love the lake!" Misty says while looking at the lake as Ash speaks.
"And this area's big too" Ash says while looking around as Tracey speaks.
"I've heard that this spot is safe so we should be able to set up camp here and relax. There's also a lot of fruit trees around us and since this island's uninhabited we're allowed to pick the fruits without getting into trouble." Tracey says with the 3 kids nodding as Leaf speaks.
"Hey, we should bring out our Pokémon as they'll want to relax too" Leaf says as Ash speaks.
"Good idea Leaf" Ash says as he along with the others pull out their Pokeballs throw them high into the air and speak.
"Come Out!" The 4 kids say as they send out their Pokémon. Tracey sends out Smeargle, Marill, Venomoth and Scyther. Leaf sends out Venusaur, Houndstone, Shiny Altaria, Maushold, shiny Kanto Rapidash, and Oricorio (Pom-pom form). Misty sends out Vaporeon, Palafin (not in its hero form), Milotic, Golisopod, Psyduck and Starmie. Ash sends out Charizard, shiny Dratini, Riolu, Froakie, Lapras and Snorlax. The mons all have smiles on their faces as they look at the big open field. Pikachu along with Togepi join them as Ash speaks.
"Okay guys our goal today is to just relax so let's do that!" Ash says with the Pokémon nodding as they begin to relax. But before they can relax they all welcome Tracey's newly caught Scyther to the group. The old mantis gives them a hardy hello which scares some of the groups Pokémon, but it doesn't last for long as Togepi still goes over to the old mantis and happily greets it which allows the groups other mons to not be scared of Scyther anymore making the mantis happy. Once the greeting is done the Pokémon can finally start to relax.
Ash's Lapras along with Misty's water types and Tracey's Marill begin to happily swim in the lake and are playing with each other. Ash's Snorlax along with Leaf's Venusaur, Houndstone, and Rapidash find a nearby spot to sleep at. Leaf's Altaria along with Tracey's Venomoth, Scyther and Ash's Charizard fly in the air and begin racing with each other. On the ground Ash's Pikachu, Dratini, Riolu, Froakie, Leaf's Maushold, Oricorio, Misty's Togepi, and Tracey's Smeargle are currently running around while playing with a ball. The 4 trainers watch their Pokémon playing/relaxing with each other as Tracey speaks.
"We should probably start setting up camp." Tracey says with the 3 kids nodding as they begin. While Leaf and Misty are setting up the tents Ash along with Tracey go find some firewood and come back 10 minutes later. As the group's Pokémon continue to play Riolu goes over to Froakie and speaks.
"Rio, Rio" Riolu tells the frog that she wants to battle. Froakie looks at Riolu and agrees making the aura puppy happy as they then get into a battle stance. Back to the 4 trainers Leaf sees Riolu and Froakie then looks at Ash and speaks.
"Hey Ash looks like your Riolu and Froakie are going to battle each other" Leaf says making Ash curious as he along with everyone else see the 2-mons looking at each other Misty speaks.
"Wait but aren't they supposed to be relaxing?" Misty asks as Tracey speaks.
"They probably just want to test each other" Tracey responds with Misty nodding as Ash speaks.
"It's also been a while since I've seen them battle each other so I'm curious to see how much they've grown while being at Oak's lab." Ash says with the group nodding. Back to Riolu and Froakie the 2 mons continue to stare at each other with the groups other Pokémon coming over to watch them. Riolu and Froakie continue to look at each other until they both feel a gentle wind breeze go by as Riolu speaks.
"Rio!" Riolu yells as she leaps forward, she covers her right fist in orange energy (using Power-Up Punch) and goes to punch Froakie. Froakie quickly backs away dodging the attack as Riolu punches the ground instead, Froakie then fires multiple bubbles from his mouth (using Bubble Beam). The bubbles go to hit Riolu but shes not worried as she begins punching the air fast sending out multiple Vacuum Waves that easily destroy the bubbles and head for Froakie. As the Vacuum Waves go to hit the frog, Froakie summons a long white blade and begins to easily cut them. Once Froakie finishes cutting the Vacuum waves Riolu appears in front of Froakie she has an Aura Sphere in her right hand then yells.
"Rio!" Riolu yells as when she throws the Aura Sphere, Froakie quickly uses Double Team creating multiple clones and dodges the attack. Riolu looks around and sees that she's now surrounded by Froakie's clones. Riolu continues to look at the clones as they then summon long white blades and shoot forward towards Riolu. Riolu quickly covers both of her fists in orange energy and begins punching/dodging the clones easily. When Riolu gets rid of one more clone she doesn't see Froakie anywhere and is confused. Unbeknownst to Riolu Froakie's right behind her and is forming a Water Pulse. Riolu senses Froakie and immediately turns around as Froakie yells.
"Fro!" Froakie yells as he fires the ball of water. Riolu can't dodge in time as she quickly brings up her arms and blocks the attack. As Riolu's blocking the ball of water she notices that it's pushing her back, not wanting to be pushed back anymore Riolu yells and swings out her arms knocking the Water Pulse away as Leaf speaks.
"She did it!" Leaf cheers with Tracey and Misty nodding while Ash stays silent. Suddenly Froakie appears in front of Riolu with his fists and feet glowing blue (using Aerial Ace). Before Riolu can act Froakie begins to repeatedly punch/kick Riolu with each hit causing super effective damage. Froakie then punches Riolu hard in the face with his right fist, Riolu groans in pain but then gets her right palm ready and goes to hit Froakie but the frog quickly backs away. Once Froakie lands a few feet away he begins to charge up a Water Pulse while Riolu begins to charge up an Aura Sphere. The 2 mons look at each other as once they feel as though they've charged their attacks enough, they both yell.
"Rio!" "Fro!" The 2-mons yell as they both launch their attacks that collide. The 2 moves begin pushing each other back and forth with the groups Pokémon cheering the 2 mons on as Riolu yells.
"Rio!" Riolu yells as she increases the power of her Aura Sphere as it begins to push the Water Pulse back. Riolu has a smile on her face believing that she's going to win as Froakie yells.
"Fro!" Froakie yells as well and starts to increase the power of his Water Pulse which begins to push Riolu's Aura Sphere back. Riolu has a surprised look on her face, but it quickly goes away as she yells more, increasing the power of her Aura Sphere with Froakie doing the same thing to his Water Pulse. As Riolu continues to increase the power of her Aura Sphere it's still not able to push Froakie's Water Pulse, Riolu doesn't give up as she yells more putting more power into her Aura Sphere as it begins to slowly push the Water Pulse back. Froakie sees this and is impressed with Riolu but he won't give up either as he yells.
"Fro!" Froakie yells as he increases the power of his Water Pulse more which easily destroys the Aura Sphere and goes to hit Riolu. Riolu's surprised that her Aura Sphere was destroyed but quickly breaks out of her shock as she sees the Water Pulse coming for her. Before Riolu can block the Water Pulse makes contact with her and explodes creating a cloud of smoke along with a gust of wind. Once the wind and smoke go away everyone looks to see the results, they see Riolu laying on her back. Riolu's groaning in pain and tries to stand back up. But Froakie appears standing in front of Riolu with a white blade pointing towards her, Froakie's giving Riolu a look telling her to stand down. Riolu doesn't want to stop. She wants to continue battling but ultimately Riolu concedes in defeat as Froakie puts his blade away and raises his right fist in the air showcasing that he won. Once he does that the groups Pokémon happily cheer for Froakie, off to the side the group clap for Froakie as Misty speaks.
"That was a pretty good battle" Misty says as Leaf speaks.
"I'm surprised that Riolu didn't land a single hit on Froakie." Leaf says as Tracey speaks.
"Looks like Froakie has gotten a lot stronger while at the lab and he may be close to evolving soon" Tracey says as Ash speaks.
"Really? Cool!" Ash says while having an excited look on his face. Meanwhile back to Riolu and Froakie. Froakie's white blade disappears and holds out his right hand for Riolu to grab it. Riolu looks at Froakie and grabs his right hand with her own as Froakie helps Riolu stand up. Froakie tells Riolu that it was a good battle with Riolu agreeing. After that the 4 kids along with the groups other Pokémon appear and begin congratulating Froakie making the frog smile. Riolu watches and clenches her fists in anger as she's disappointed in herself for how poorly she performed in the battle. Riolu then shakes her head as she goes over to Froakie and congrats the frog too. Once that's over Ash speaks.
"Okay everyone let's go back to relaxing" Ash says as Tracey speaks.
"Also, we're having barbecue tonight" Tracey says making the mons happy as they go back to what they were doing before while the 4 trainers start making the barbecue. Tracey along with Leaf are getting things ready while Ash along with Misty go pick some fruit from the trees. 10 minutes later Ash along with Misty come back having picked the fruit but they accidently picked the fruit that wasn't ripened yet, so Tracey showed them what the ripened fruit actually looked like, and the 2 kids went back out to pick those. Another 10 minutes passed Ash and Misty managed to get the right fruit and Leaf along with Tracey started to cook with Misty helping a little bit while Ash played with the Pokémon. 2 hours later the cooking is finished as Tracey speaks.
"The food's done!" Tracey says causing Ash along with the Pokémon to run over. When they make it, they see a big spread of food on the table making Ash along with the Pokémon smile as Ash speaks.
"Wow this looks amazing!" Ash says making Tracey, Leaf, and Misty smile. Once Snorlax sees the food he's about to go and eat all of it which makes everyone else worried as Leaf speaks.
"Oh, Snorlax we made sure to prepare enough food for you" Leaf says as she shows the mon a big pile of food just for him. Snorlax has an excited look on his face and begins to happily eat the food which makes everyone let out a relief sigh as Ash speaks.
"Okay now that Snorlax's taken care of let's eat!" Ash says with everyone nodding as they begin to happily eat the food. As the group's eating the smell of the food attracts some of the nearby Pokémon that live on the island that consists of Kanto Farfetch'd, Caterpie, Pidgey, Spearow, Weedle, Rattata, Raticate, and Rhyhorn. The Pokémon come over to the group and the 4 trainers look at them as Misty speaks.
"Look some Pokémon showed up" Misty says as Leaf speaks.
"Are any of them shiny?" Leaf asks but sees that none of them are shiny as Tracey speaks.
"They must've smelled our food" Tracey says as Ash looks at the mons and speaks.
"Hey if you guys are hungry you can join us, and we have enough to share" Ash says with the 3 trainers and their Pokémon nodding. The wild Pokémon look at the group and nod making the group happy as they pull out some food bowls and allow the wild mons to eat the food. As they're eating, they absolutely love the food and continue to eat, making everyone smile. After that many hours pass with the group playing games, eating, and talking about their journey throughout the Orange Islands so far. Everyone continues to have fun until it's nighttime, the wild Pokémon that were hanging out with the group say goodbye and go back to their homes to rest. The group wave them goodbye as Ash then lets out a yawn and speaks.
"Man, I'm tired" Ash says as Tracey speaks.
"It's pretty late so we should go to bed" Tracey says with the 3 kids nodding as they then pull out their sleeping bags then look over at their Pokémon and speak.
"Goodnight" The 4 kids say their mons who also say goodnight. The 4 kids tell each other goodnight as they all go to sleep. 1 hour goes by and everyone's still sleeping until Riolu wakes up. Riolu's unable to sleep as she keeps thinking about her battle with Froakie today and how she was unable to land a single hit on him. Riolu then gets a determined look on her face and stands up. Riolu makes sure that everyone's asleep then begins to quickly run deep into the forest to train. 10 seconds after Riolu left Froakie along with Dratini woke up and noticed that Riolu's missing. Dratini asks Froakie if they should wake the others up but Froakie declines saying that everyone else deserves to sleep and bringing Riolu back shouldn't take too long. Dratini agrees as they also run deep into the forest to find Riolu. Meanwhile, with Riolu we see her standing in the middle of the forest while having her eyes closed. Riolu continues having her eyes closed until she opens them and speaks.
"Rio!" Riolu says as she jumps forward and uses Force Palm on a nearby rock and destroys it. After that Riolu begins playing out her battles with not just Froakie but also her battle with Hunter J's Pokémon and her battle against Cameron's Lucario. As Riolu continues to train Froakie and Dratini are hidden behind a nearby bush and see Riolu training. They continue to watch as Riolu then fires an Aura Sphere and hits a nearby rock easily destroying it. Riolu feels as though she's not only getting stronger but is also about to awaken something too as her fists glow slightly in steel energy. Just when she's about to continue she hears a voice.
"Fro" The voice says which startles Riolu as she turns around and sees Froakie along with Dratini. Riolu asks if they were watching her train with the 2-mons saying they were which makes Riolu blush a little in embarrassment. Froakie then walks over to Riolu and tells her that she's growing strong with Dratini agreeing with him. This makes Riolu smile as she then looks at Froakie and speaks.
"Rio, rio" Riolu tells Froakie that they should battle right now as Riolu wants to test herself. But Froakie declines saying that there's no point in doing it right now. Once Riolu hears that it makes her angry as it makes her think that Froakie believes that he's better than her. Riolu then tells Froakie that he's just scared of battling her because he knows that he'll lose. Froakie then gets angry and tells Riolu that that's not the case and tells her that they should go back to the group. Riolu feels as though that Froakie's making an excuse as she then fires an Aura Sphere at him with Froakie easily dodging as the Aura Sphere then hits something else. Froakie then gets angry asking Riolu what her problem is with Riolu telling Froakie that he's the problem which causes both mons to get into an argument. As they continue to argue Dratini tries to calm them down, but the 2 mons aren't listening and continue their arguing. While Riolu and Froakie continue Dratini hears something approaching them then tries again to tell Riolu and Froakie to be quiet and that they need to get out of here, but the 2-mons aren't listening. As Dratini's about to try again suddenly a big Rhyperior appears from the bushes and roars.
"RHY!" The mon lets out a loud roar which surprises the 3-mons and stops Riolu and Froakie from arguing. Rhyperior then fires a large sharp stone at them, but the 3 mons manage to dodge Riolu along with Froakie and Dratini fire an Aura Sphere, Water Pulse, and Dragon Pulse at the mon which hits it creating an explosion. When the explosion clears, Rhyperior doesn't have a single scratch on it as it roars sending out a shockwave that pushes the 3-mons back as Froakie speaks.
"Fro, Froakie, Fro!" Froakie tells Riolu and Dratini that they need to get out of here and alert the others. Dratini agrees but Riolu disagrees, telling Froakie that they should stay and fight instead. This makes Froakie angry and causes the 2 of them to argue again as Dratini sighs. After that Rhyperior then fires another Stone Edge which goes to hit the 3 mons, but they managed to dodge in time. Just when Riolu's about to fire another Aura Sphere Dratini quickly grabs Riolu with her tail and tells Froakie that they should go now with Froakie agreeing as they begin to run away with Rhyperior going after them. Riolu tells Dratini to let go but Dratini declines telling Riolu that she'll only make things worse. As they continue to run Rhyperior forms its hands together creating a big rock (using Rock Wrecker) and sends it towards the 3 mons. Riolu sees the rock coming she quickly creates an Aura Sphere and fires it. When the Aura Sphere connects it pushes the rock back a little bit, but it ultimately gets destroyed which surprises Riolu. As the rock's going to hit Riolu and Dratini Froakie quickly gets in the way and takes the hit as it explodes Riolu and Dratini speak.
"Rio!" "Tini!" The 2 mons call out to Froakie who appears out of the explosion and lands on the ground injured. Dratini puts Riolu down as they go over to Froakie asking if he's okay with the frog nodding. A couple seconds later Rhyperior roars and fires another Rock Wrecker at them. Riolu along with Dratini stand protectively over Froakie as they both fire an Aura Sphere and Dragon Pulse respectively. The 3 attacks then collide and begin going back and forth with each other. The Rock Wrecker's about to destroy the 2 attacks but Riolu along with Dratini roar increasing the power of their attacks and begin pushing the move back. Rhyperior notices this and roars as well increasing the power of the Rock Wrecker as it easily destroys the 2 attacks and goes to hit the 2 mons. As the rock's getting closer Riolu covers her right fist in orange energy while Dratini covers her tail in steel energy. The 2 mons collide with the rock as there's an explosion, out of the explosion appear the 3 mons who're flying in the air they then land in a nearby river and are now being sent down it as Rhyperior runs after them.
In the water Riolu tries her best to stay above the water but can't as the current's going too fast. Riolu then sees Froakie up ahead who has his eyes closed, Riolu begins trying to swim towards Froakie but is unable to as the current's pushing against her and water's going into her mouth causing her to suffocate. Riolu continues trying to swim towards Froakie but is ultimately unable to as she then closes her eyes. Once that happens Dratini appears, she manages to grab both Riolu and Froakie and manages to get them out of the water. Dratini sees a nearby cave and goes inside it. Once inside Dratini puts Riolu along with Froakie next to a wall as the 2 mons then open their eyes (Riolu coughs up some water) and speak.
"Fro" "Rio" The 2 mons tell Dratini thank you when the dragon nodding having a smile on her face. Dratini then suddenly hears Rhyperior roaring and tells the 2 mons to be quiet with the both of them nodding. Hidden in the cave they see Rhyperior run past the cave not noticing them, this allows the 3-mons to let out a relief sigh as Riolu then looks at Froakie and speaks.
"Rio, Rio" Riolu tells Froakie sorry for not coming back when he told her the first time. Riolu tells Froakie along with Dratini that the reason why is that after her battle against Cameron's Lucario, Hunter J's Pokémon and their battle earlier today Riolu felt weak. Her battle with Froakie made it even more evident when she couldn't land a single hit on him. So Riolu felt frustrated and wanted to do some extra training so that she could improve and wanted to battle Froakie again as she felt as though she was going to awaken something. Riolu tells Froakie that when he declined the offer to battle her that made Riolu feel as though Froakie didn't think of her as a worthy opponent/rival and that's why she lashed out. After Riolu's done talking Froakie along with Dratini now understand as Froakie speaks.
"Fro, kie, fro" Froakie tells Riolu that he remembers those battles against Cameron and Hunter J's Pokémon and how frustrated he was when he lost too. But Froakie tells Riolu that, that's why he continued to train so that if he got the chance to battle them again, he wouldn't lose. Froakie also tells Riolu that when they battled earlier it wasn't his intention of showcasing how superior he was to Riolu but to showcase how much he has grown after his training. Froakie then tells Riolu that he'll always be her rival/friend and would never go out of his way to put Riolu down. Dratini then tells Riolu that Froakie's right and when Dratini still lived in the Safari Zone she was always scared and weak. But after she was caught by Ash, she's made a lot of friends and trains a lot everyday wanting to improve herself. Dratini tells Riolu that she understands what being weak/not good enough is like and that Riolu is nothing like that and is one of the strongest Pokémon she's ever met. Riolu's surprised by both Froakie's and Dratini's responses tears then well up in her eyes as she speaks.
"Rio, rio" Riolu tells the 2 of them that she's sorry that she got them into this mess and for calling Froakie all of those names. Froakie along with Dratini tell Riolu that it's fine and comfort her. Once Riolu's done crying she asks if she should send out an aura signal to Ash so that he and the others can find them. Froakie declines saying that not only is it still dark but that Rhyperior is still out there looking for them so it would be best for them to lay low right now. Riolu agrees then groans a little in pain as Dratini then says they should all sleep for now and begin searching for the others in the morning. Riolu along with Froakie agree as the 3 of them then begin to sleep in the dark cave. 6 hours later it's now morning and we go over to the group who're starting to wake up. The first one to wake up is Ash as he lets out a big yawn, after him it's Misty, Leaf, Tracey, and the rest of their Pokémon that wake up too. Ash looks at his friends and speaks.
"Good morning, guys" Ash says with the 3 trainers along with their Pokémon saying good morning too. After that the 4 trainers begin putting their camping gear away as Misty speaks.
"I haven't had a good sleep like that in a while" Misty says as Leaf speaks.
"I agree camping out with friends is always fun" Leaf says with Misty nodding as Tracey speaks.
"I have to say this was a pretty nice break" Tracey says with the group nodding as he continues to speak.
"Now then I believe that we should head out now" Tracey suggests with Leaf and Misty nodding, just when they're about to leave Ash speaks.
"Wait where's Dratini, Froakie, and Riolu?" Ash says making the 3 trainers confused as Misty speaks.
"Are they not with the rest of your Pokémon?" Misty asks as Ash speaks.
"No" Ash responds as Leaf speaks.
"Do you think that they're doing some early training?" Leaf asks as Ash speaks.
"If that's the case then they would've been back by now" Ash says with Leaf nodding. Meanwhile, with Tracey he sees some footprints on the ground and speaks.
"Hey guys come over here I've found some footprints!" Tracey says causing the 3 kids to run over to him. Once they make it, they look at the footprints as Misty speaks.
"Do these belong to Riolu, Froakie, and Dratini?" Misty asks as Tracey speaks.
"Most definitely as my Pokémon Watcher instincts tell me that these are theirs" Tracey responds as Leaf speaks.
"The footprints lead to the forest so they must be somewhere in there" Leaf says as Ash speaks.
"That means that they shouldn't have gotten far. Let's go look for them!" Ash says with the 3 kids and their Pokémon nodding. After that Ash's Charizard along with Leaf's Altaria, Oricorio, Tracey's Scyther, and Venomoth fly in the air and begin searching for the 3-mons while looking down below. The group then return their Pokémon (other than Pikachu, Togepi, and Leaf's Houndstone) back to their Pokeball's. Leaf has her Houndstone smell the footprints to get the 3-mons scent and once Houndstone does the dog begins running forward with the 3 kids following him. As the group's running forward Ash thinks.
"Don't worry Dratini, Riolu, and Froakie we'll find you" Ash says as he along with the others continue to run. 30 minutes later we come back to the cave where the 3 mons are as the sunlight beams down on the 3 mons and causes them to open their eyes. Once they do, they all let out a big yawn and tell each other good morning. Once they do they walk out of the cave and do a couple of stretches. After the stretches are done Froakie speaks.
"Fro Froakie, Fro" Froakie says that Ash and the others are probably looking for them right now so they should hurry back. Dratini along with Riolu nod as Riolu says that she'll now use her aura to contact Ash making Froakie and Dratini happy. Riolu then closes her eyes and begins to concentrate. Just when Riolu's about to unleash her aura signal they hear a voice.
"RHY!" The voice yells causing Riolu to stop as she along with Froakie and Dratini see Rhyperior. The 3 mons have surprised looks on their faces as Rhyperior begins to fire multiple large stones at them Froakie speaks.
"FRO!" Froakie yells telling Riolu along with Dratini to run with the 2-mons nodding as the 3 of them begin to run with the sharp stones missing them. This makes Rhyperior angry as it begins running after them and continues firing multiple sharp stones. As Rhyperior continues to throw sharp stones at them the 3 mons manage to easily dodge the attacks and continue to run. They continue to run until they're in a big clearing with no trees in sight. As they continue to run Rhyperior fires a large sharp stone that goes over the 3 mons heads and crashes in front of them causing them to stop. Once they do they turn around and see Rhyperior who has an angry look on its face telling them that they're not getting away. Riolu looks at Froakie and Dratini telling them that they can't run anymore and need to fight otherwise they won't be able to reunite with Ash and everyone else. Even though Froakie and Dratini would rather resolve this peacefully they can tell that using words on Rhyperior now won't work. Froakie along with Dratini agree with Riolu making the aura puppy smile as they then look at Rhyperior and get in a battle stance. Rhyperior looks at the 3 mons and lets out a mighty roar.
"RHY!" Rhyperior roars and begins firing multiple sharp stones at them. As the sharp stones go to hit the 3 of them Riolu along with Froakie use Double Team to dodge the stones while Dratini shoots forward and manages to easily evade all of the stones. Once Dratini makes it to Rhyperior her tail glows in steel energy and hits Rhyperior's left leg with it. Rhyperior groans a little in pain then goes to punch Dratini with its left fist using Mega Punch. Just when the fist is about to connect Dratini quickly jumps back as Rhyperior punches the ground instead, Rhyperior then looks forward and sees Riolu along with Froakie in front of it. Riolu has an Aura Spere in her left hand while Froakie has a Water Pulse in his right hand they go to hit Rhyperior as they yell.
"Rio!" Fro!" The 2-mons yell as they manage to hit Rhyperior hard in the face with their attacks creating an explosion. Out of the explosion appears Rhyperior who slides a couple feet back and has some scratches on its face. Riolu along with Froakie give each other along with Dratini a thumbs up as Rhyperior roars and launches a large sharp stone towards them. The 3 mons manage to easily dodge the sharp stone, once they do they see 3 more Stone Edges heading for them. Unable to dodge in time the 3 stones hit the 3-mons creating an explosion as they're then sent flying back and land a few feet away. The 3 mons are lying on their backs groaning in pain and begin starting to stand up. As they're doing that, they see Rhyperior charge up a big Rock Wrecker as it roars.
"RHY!" Rhyperior roars as it launches a big rock towards the 3 mons. Riolu along with Froakie and Dratini go to dodge but can't as the rock's moving too fast. Just when the rock's about to hit them they then hear a voice.
"Pikachu use Iron Tail!" The voice says as suddenly a Pikachu appears and easily cuts the rock in half with its tail easily destroying it. Rhyperior has a surprised look on its face as Pikachu then lands on the ground and stares at Rhyperior while sparking its cheeks. Dratini along with Riolu and Froakie look at Pikachu and know it. Before they can say anything they then hear a voice.
"Dratini, Riolu, Froakie are you okay?!" The voice says causing the 3 mons to turn around and get smiles on their faces as they see the group. They see the 4 trainers and Houndstone along with Charizard, Scyther, Venomoth, Altaria, and Oricorio who land on the ground and stand next to Pikachu. The 3 mons have smiles on their faces as they run over to Ash, when they make it Ash bends down and gives them a hug as he speaks.
"I was worried about you guys" Ash says with the 3-mons telling Ash sorry that they disappeared, but Ash tells them that it's fine and he's happy that they're safe. Ash then sees that they've scratches on their bodies and speaks.
"These injuries was it because of that Rhyperior?" Ash asks with the 3-mons nodding as Leaf speaks.
"I've to say that Rhyperior's big it's even bigger than Giovanni's." Leaf says with the group nodding as Rhyperior looks at the group and gets an angry look on its face. Rhyperior roars and fires a large sharp stone forward as Ash, Leaf, and Tracey speak.
"Dodge!" The 3 kids call as their Pokémon manage to dodge the attack. Ash's Charizard begins covering his mouth with purple draconic energy as Ash speaks.
"Charizard use Dragon Pulse!" Ash calls Charizard roars as he fires a big Dragon Pulse that heads for Rhyperior. Rhyperior's right fist glows (using Mega Punch) and punches the dragon beam. The Dragon Pulse pushes Rhyperior back a couple of feet but the mon roars and easily destroys the move then begins running forward as Misty speaks.
"Here it comes!" Misty says as Ash pulls out a Pokeball and speaks.
"This one will stop it. Snorlax, I choose you!" Ash calls as he throws the ball forward sending out Snorlax. Once Snorlax appears he sees Rhyperior running towards him and collides with the mon. Rhyperior along with Snorlax are now locked in a grapple with both mons pushing each other back and forth. As they keep doing that Rhyperior's right fist glows white (using Hammer Arm) and goes to punch Snorlax as Ash speaks.
"Snorlax counter with your Hammer Arm!" Ash calls Snorlax's left fist glows white as he collides with Rhyperior's right fist creating an explosion. Out of the explosion appear the 2 mons as they slide away from each other. Snorlax stands next to Pikachu and Charizard as they stare at Rhyperior with the mon looking at them. Leaf then speaks.
"This Rhyperior's strong" Leaf says as Ash speaks.
"True but we're going to win!" Ash says with Pikachu, Charizard, and Snorlax roaring in agreement as they then wait for Ash to call for his next commands. Meanwhile, Dratini, Riolu, and Froakie look on they're happy that the others are protecting them but feel as though that they should fight Rhyperior themselves. Just when Ash's about to call for his next commands Dratini along with Riolu and Froakie jump forward and get into battle stances as Ash speaks.
"Hey what are you guys doing?!" Ash asks as the 3 mons look at Ash and tell him that they want to battle Rhyperior instead which surprises Ash as Misty speaks.
"What did they say Ash?" Misty asks as Ash speaks.
"They said that they want to battle Rhyperior themselves" Ash responds which surprises Misty, Leaf, and Tracey as Misty speaks.
"But they're injured they shouldn't be fighting Rhyperior" Misty says as Tracey speaks.
"I agree with Misty as they could get hurt a lot more" Tracey says with Leaf agreeing with him as Ash speaks.
"I get where you guys are coming from but as I look into their eyes, I can see that they want to do this no actually they've to do this and prove just how much stronger they've gotten. So, while I'm also worried about them getting hurt, I'm confident that they can defeat Rhyperior." Ash responds while having a determined look on his face, the 3 kids look at him then back at the 3 mons who've the same look. The 3 trainers then agree with Ash's decision as the boy tells Pikachu, Charizard, and Snorlax to come back as they do. The 3 mons tell Dratini, Riolu, and Froakie good luck with the 3 mons nodding as they then walk a couple of feet forward and stare at Rhyperior. Rhyperior looks at the 3 mons, it has an angry look on its face and gets in a battle stance with the 3-mons doing the same as Ash speaks.
"Dratini, Riolu, Froakie let's do this!" Ash says making the 3-mons roar in agreement as Rhyperior roars too. Rhyperior creates multiple sharp stones around it and fires them towards the 3 mons as Ash speaks.
"Jump in the air to dodge!" Ash calls the 3 mons quickly jump high in the air and easily avoid the sharp stones. As they're in the air Rhyperior jumps toward the 3 mons (using Body Press) and is about to hit them as Ash speaks.
"Riolu, Froakie use Double Team and Dratini use Agility to dodge!" Ash calls Riolu along with Froakie create multiple copies of themselves while Dratini uses Agility to move to the right. The 3 mons successfully dodge Rhyperior's attack as the mon falls on the ground. In the air Riolu gets her fists ready while Froakie takes in a deep breath as Ash speaks.
"Riolu use Vacuum Wave and Froakie use Bubble Beam!" Ash calls Riolu along with her clones punch the air fast sending out multiple waves of fighting energy while Froakie along with his clones begin firing multiple streams of bubbles from their mouths. As the attacks go to hit Rhyperior the drill Pokémon quickly digs underground and easily dodges both attacks. Rhyperior doesn't stay underground for long as a couple seconds later it shoots out from the ground and turns into a drill (using Drill Run). Rhyperior then uses Stone Edge to easily get rid of all of the clones and manages to grab the real Riolu and Froakie. As Rhyperior's about to hit them Ash speaks.
"Dratini use Dragon Rush then Iron Tail!" Ash calls Dratini shoots towards Rhyperior covers her body in dragon energy and hits Rhyperior's left cheek which makes the mon loosen its grip on Riolu and Froakie but it's still holding onto them. Dratini then covers her tail in steel energy and slams her tail hard on Rhyperior's head causing the mon to let go of the 2 mons and crash back on the ground creating a dust cloud as the 3 mons then land safely back on the ground. Riolu along with Froakie tell Dratini thank you with the dragon saying that they're welcome. The happy moment doesn't last for long as a couple seconds later Rhyperior appears out of the dust cloud and roars as it stomps its right foot on the ground causing the entire area to shake (using Earthquake) as Ash speaks.
"Quick jump in the air to dodge!" Ash calls with the 3-mons nodding as they manage to jump in the air and avoid the Earthquake. Once they do Froakie along with Dratini suddenly see 2 sharp stones in front of them. Ash's unable to tell the 2 mons to dodge as the sharp stones hit them and send them flying as they land a few feet away Ash speaks.
"Dratini, Froakie!" Ash calls in worry as the 2 mons are laying on the ground groaning in pain. Riolu wants to go check on them but suddenly Rhyperior appears in front of Riolu and raises its right hand which is glowing white (using Hammer Arm). Before Ash can tell Riolu to dodge Rhyperior punches Riolu hard in the stomach making the mon cough in pain as she is then sent crashing into the ground as Ash speaks.
"Riolu!" Ash calls in worry when the dust clears Riolu's laying on her back groaning in pain she looks at Rhyperior who's about to use Hammer Arm again as Ash speaks.
"Riolu dodge!" Ash calls Riolu tries but can't as she's still groaning in pain. When Rhyperior goes to punch Riolu again we come over to Froakie and Dratini they see Rhyperior going to punch Riolu. Not wanting their friend to get hurt they quickly shoot forward going to block the attack but are too far away. As they continue to run Froakie gets a determined look on his face then yells.
"FRO!" Froakie yells as he glows a bright white then jumps forward, gets in front of Riolu and blocks Rhyperior's punch. Everyone looks at Froakie as they see him beginning to change. As Froakie continues to change what was once a Froakie is no more as it's now a Frogadier. Everyone has surprised looks on their faces as Frogadier then manages to knock Rhyperior's fist away, which surprises the mon. Over to the group Misty speaks.
"I don't believe it Froakie evolved into a Frogadier" Misty says with the group nodding. Back over to Riolu and Frogadier. Riolu is surprised that Froakie evolved as Frogadier looks at Riolu asking if she's alright with the mon nodding as Rhyperior roars.
"RHY!" Rhyperior roars making everyone look at the mon again as it goes to punch Riolu and Frogadier Ash speaks.
"Look Out!" Ash calls just when Rhyperior goes to punch them it suddenly gets hit in the face by Dratini (who's using Dragon Rush) and is sent sliding a few feet away. Rhyperior manages to stop itself as it looks at Dratini who has an angry look on her face as Ash speaks.
"Yeah! Great job Dratini!" Ash cheers but Dratini doesn't respond as a couple seconds later Dratini roars and begins glowing a bright white. Everyone has surprised looks on their faces as Leaf speaks.
"Dratini's evolving too!" Leaf says as they all continue to watch Dratini. They see Dratini grow longer, gain a horn on her head along with one orange crystal on her neck while there's two on her tail. She also gets a white underside on her belly and on each side of her head has 2 white wings. Once the light goes away what was once a shiny Dratini is now a shiny Dragonair who lets out a mighty roar creating a shockwave as Misty speaks.
"Dratini has evolved into a Dragonair" Misty says as Tracey speaks.
"Wanting to help Riolu they both evolved in order to protect her" Tracey says with the group nodding as Ash smiles and speaks.
"Amazing!" "Pika!" Ash along with Pikachu say while Charizard and Snorlax smile. They then see Frogadier and Dragonair standing next to each other and are staring at Rhyperior with Rhyperior looking at them as it roars.
"RHY!" Rhyperior lets out a mighty roar creates a large sharp stone and throws it at the 2 mons as Ash speaks.
"Dragonair use Dragon Pulse!" Ash calls Dragonair roars as she fires a big Dragon Pulse that easily destroys the sharp stone and hits Rhyperior creating an explosion. When the explosion clears Rhyperior has some scratches on it as Misty speaks.
"Looks like that did some damage" Misty says as Ash speaks.
"Okay Frogadier it's your turn!" Ash says as Rhyperior sees Frogadier appear in front of it. Rhyperior goes to hit the frog with Hammer Arm as Ash speaks.
"Frogadier dodge! Then use Aerial Ace and Water Pulse!" Ash calls Frogadier manages to jump back dodging the attack as Rhyperior punches the ground. Frogadier's right fist glows blue jumps upward and uppercuts Rhyperior. Frogadier then spins around and kicks Rhyperior hard in the face with his left foot. Once Frogadier does that he puts his hands together creating a ball of water and throws it at the mon which connects and creates an explosion. Out of the explosion appears Frogadier who jumped back and lands next to Dragonair as they stare forward. When the smoke clears Rhyperior's groaning in pain from the Water Pulse then glares at the 2 mons as Misty speaks.
"Even though Frogadier landed the Aerial Ace and Water Pulse Rhyperior looks as though it can keep fighting" Misty says as Ash speaks.
"We'll that's fine with me Frogadier, Dragonair let's keep going!" Ash says with the 2-mons nodding as they along with Rhyperior charge forward to continue battling. We now come over to Riolu she watches Frogadier and Dragonair battle Rhyperior. Even though the mon was giving them trouble before the 2 of them are now battling it on equal footing. Riolu's surprised then loses her shocked expression and replaces it with a determined look on her face and begins to stand back up. Even though Riolu's happy to see her friends evolve she doesn't want them to leave her behind as she wants to continue battling too. Riolu continues struggling to stand up until she eventually does, Riolu then clenches her fists and begins to concentrate. As Riolu's concentrating she begins to feel that sensation she felt last night within her fists, Riolu continues to concentrate as her fists begin to glow. The group look at Riolu as Leaf speaks.
"Is Riolu going to evolve too?" Leaf asks as Tracey speaks.
"No, I don't believe so" Tracey responds as a couple seconds later Riolu opens her eyes and yells.
"RIO!" Riolu yells as her fists glow brightly in steel energy then shoots forward appearing in front of Rhyperior's face. The drill Pokémon has a shocked look on its face as Riolu then punches Rhyperior 5 times in the face which sends the mon sliding back a few feet away as Riolu then lands back on the ground. Everyone has surprised looks on their faces as Tracey speaks.
"Ash your Riolu just used Bullet Punch!" Tracey says as Ash smiles and speaks.
"Whoa! That's amazing Riolu!" "Pika!" Ash and Pikachu say happily as Riolu smiles. After that Frogadier along with Dragonair stand next to Riolu. Riolu looks at the 2-mons telling them that it won't let them leave her behind with the 2-mons nodding as the 3 of them smile. Their smiles don't last for long as Rhyperior lets out a mighty roar then puts its hands together creating a big rock (using Rock Wrecker) as Leaf speaks.
"It's about to fire a Rock Wrecker!" Leaf says as Ash speaks.
"We won't let it! Riolu use Bullet Punch and Frogadier, Dragonair run forward!" Ash calls with the 3-mons nodding. As Frogadier along with Dragonair shoot forward Riolu's fists glow in steel energy as she shoots forward reaching Rhyperior and punches the mon 2 times in the face making it stop using Rock Wrecker. Rhyperior has an angry look on its face and goes to grab Riolu as Ash speaks.
"Riolu use Double Team to dodge and Frogadier use Bubble Beam then use your Frubbles!" Ash calls Riolu creates multiple clones of herself and dodges Rhyperior's hand. Rhyperior then sees Frogadier in front of it and begins firing multiple bubbles out of his mouth. Rhyperior quickly brings up its arms and blocks the attack. When the bubbles go away Rhyperior sees Frogadier fire some of its Frubbles from its white scarf as they hit Rhyperior's eyes blinding the mon. A couple seconds later Rhyperior manages to get the Frubbles off its eyes as it then sees Dragonair in front of it with her tail glowing in steel energy as Ash speaks.
"Now Dragonair use Iron Tail!" Ash calls Dragonair completely covers her tail in steel energy and slaps Rhyperior hard across the face causing super effective damage. Rhyperior groans in pain as Ash speaks.
"Now Dragonair wrap your body around Rhyperior and Riolu, Froakie jump in the air then use Aura Sphere and Water Pulse!" Ash calls before Rhyperior can counter Dragonair quickly wraps her body around Rhyperior and begins to hold the mon tightly. Rhyperior tries to break out of the hold but Dragonair's making sure not to let go. Rhyperior then sees Riolu and Frogadier jump in the air. Frogadier raises his left hand while Riolu raises her right hand the 2 mons create a big Water Pulse and Aura Sphere respectively. Also, since the 2 mons are next to each other their 2 attacks combine which surprises everyone as Leaf speaks.
"The Water Pulse and Aura Sphere combined!" Leaf says as Ash smiles and speaks.
"Alright Riolu, Frogadier use Aura Pulse and Dragonair get out of the way!" Ash calls Riolu along with Frogadier fire the move that heads for Rhyperior. Dragonair quickly unwraps her body from Rhyperior and flies away. Rhyperior looks forward and sees the combined attack heading for it. Rhyperior points its hands forward and connects with the ball. The ball pushes Rhyperior back a couple of feet but Rhyperior stops itself and begins pushing the attack back as Misty speaks.
"It's pushing it back!" Misty says as Tracey speaks.
"If it keeps doing that it'll destroy the attack!" Tracey says while having a concerned look on his face as Ash speaks.
"Don't worry I got it covered. Dragonair use Dragon Pulse!" Ash calls Dragonair roars as she fires a big dragon beam that goes to hit Rhyperior's back. Rhyperior sees the attack coming and easily knocks it away with its tail surprising Misty, Leaf, and Tracey while Ash isn't surprised. Suddenly Dragonair appears behind Rhyperior as Ash speaks.
"Now use Dragon Rush!" Ash calls Dragonair covers her body in dragon energy and hits Rhyperior's back causing damage to the mon and making it lose its grip on the Aura Pulse. Rhyperior goes to hit Dragonair with its tail, but the Dragon easily dodges by flying in the air. Once Dragonair's gone Rhyperior looks back at the Aura Pulse and sees that it's growing stronger as Ash speaks.
"Riolu, Frogadier more power!" Ash calls with the 2-mons nodding as they increase the power of the move. Rhyperior roars it's about to start pushing the move back again but then begins to flinch because of the Dragon Rush from Dragonair. Ash along with Riolu and Frogadier see this as their chance as Ash speaks.
"RIOLU, FROGADIER DO IT!" "RIO!" "FROG!" Ash along with the 2-mons yell as they put more power into the Aura Pulse making it stronger and bigger. Rhyperior tries its best to push the move away but can't because it's still flinching. A couple seconds later the Aura Pulse knocks away Rhyperior's hands and consumes the mon. Rhyperior cries out in pain as then there's a big explosion that causes the area to shake and create a strong wind. A few seconds later the wind stops, and the smoke disappears. Rhyperior appears out of the smoke it's panting heavily and looks at the group along with their Pokémon. Rhyperior continues to stare until it smiles then falls on its stomach knocked out. Once it does Riolu along with Frogadier land back on the ground as they along with Dragonair look over at Ash who nods. Ash pulls out a Pokeball turns his hat backwards and speaks.
"Go! Pokeball!" Ash says as he throws the ball forward. The ball sores through the air until it hits Rhyperior and sucks the mon inside. The ball then lands on the ground and begins to shake. As the ball is shaking everyone looks on in anticipation waiting to see if Rhyperior will come back out or not. Everyone continues to look at the ball until it shakes one more time and stops. They all continue to look as a couple seconds later the ball dings confirming the capture. Ash gets a big smile on his face as he runs over to the ball, grabs it, holds it in the air and speaks.
"I just caught a Rhyperior!" Ash cheers along with his Pokémon as Misty speaks.
"I'm surprised that you caught it" Misty says as Ash speaks.
"Yeah, I wasn't going to originally, but my body moved on its own and I did always want to have my own Rhyperior" Ash responds with Misty nodding. A couple seconds later the ball disappears heading to Oak's lab. Ash then looks over at Riolu, Frogadier, and Dragonair then speaks.
"Now for you guys. Frogadier, Dragonair I'm so happy that you've evolved and Riolu congrats on learning Bullet Punch!" Ash says making the 3-mons smile as they all jump on him tackling the boy on the ground and hug him as Ash speaks.
"Hahaha! Guys stop that tickles" Ash says with the 3 mons nodding as they get off him and Ash sprays a Hyper Potion on them to heal their injuries. After that Pikachu, Charizard, and Snorlax come over to the 3 mons. They tell Riolu congratulations on learning Bullet Punch and also congratulate Frogadier and Dragonair on evolving which makes the 3-mons smile. Charizard then tells Dragonair that now that she's evolved her training sessions with him, Gyarados and the other dragon types are now going to be a lot more intense which makes Dragonair happy. The groups other Pokémon walk over and begin congratulating the 3 mons too with them saying thank you. As the Pokémon continue to happily talk with one another Riolu goes over to Frogadier and speaks.
"Rio, rio" Riolu asks Frogadier to battle her with the frog nodding as they then get into battle stances. Everyone looks at them as Misty speaks.
"Looks like they're going to battle each other" Misty says as Tracey speaks.
"They must want to test out their new power" Tracey responds with the others nodding as Ash speaks.
"Alright Riolu, Frogadier give it everything you got!" Ash says with the 2-mons nodding as they begin to stare at each other. They continue to stare at each other until they then feel a gentle wind breeze go by as Riolu speaks.
"Rio!" Riolu yells as she fires an Aura Sphere while Frogadier fires a Water Pulse. The 2 attacks collide creating an explosion. Out of the explosion appears Frogadier who's holding a long white blade with his right hand (using Cut). Frogadier goes to hit Riolu with the blade, but Riolu manages to dodge the attack by creating multiple clones of herself. Frogadier looks around and sees that he's surrounded by Riolu's clones. The clones of Riolu then start firing multiple Vacuum Waves that go to hit Frogadier, but the frog jumps in the air and avoids the attack. Now that Frogadier's in the air he looks above and sees Riolu falling towards him and has her left palm ready as Riolu speaks.
"Rio!" Riolu yells as she goes to hit Frogadier with Force Palm, but the frog quickly brings up his arms and blocks the attack as they both come crashing back down on the ground creating a dust cloud. Out of the dust cloud the 2 mons slide away from each other, Riolu then manages to stop herself and begins running towards Frogadier. Frogadier sees Riolu coming and begins firing a beam of bubbles from his mouth. Riolu covers her fists in orange energy and begins to easily punch the bubbles away. As Riolu's doing that suddenly Frogadier appears in front of the mon with his hands and feet covered in light blue energy. Frogadier begins to punch/kick Riolu repeatedly. Frogadier punches Riolu one more time and sends the aura puppy sliding back a few feet away. Riolu manages to stop herself as she then looks forward and sees Frogadier charging up a Water Pulse. Not wanting Frogadier to fire it Riolu's fists glow in steel energy as she appears in front of Frogadier and punches Frogadier in the face 5 times. Frogaider groans a little in pain then sees Riolu charging up an Aura Sphere and goes to hit Frogadier with it. Frogadier quickly creates a Water Pulse and makes it collide with the Aura Sphere creating an explosion. When the explosion clears the 2 mons slide away from each other. Once they get a good enough distance they stop and look at each other, having smiles on their faces as Leaf speaks.
"They seem to be evenly matched so far." Leaf says with the group nodding as Ash speaks.
"Riolu, Frogadier keep going!" Ash says with the 2-mons nodding as they jump forward and collide using Bullet Punch and Aerial Ace respectively. The trainers along with their Pokémon continue to watch Riolu and Frogadier train with each other as the chapter comes to an end.

As you can see, I mixed the "A Way Off Day Off" and "Bound For Trouble" episodes from the anime with the group taking a break and a Rhyperior (It was a Rhydon in the anime) chasing Riolu, Froakie, and Dratini. Were you surprised that Froakie and Dratini evolved? You guys are probably wondering why I didn't evolve Riolu and that's because it didn't feel right to evolve her in this chapter, so I gave her Bullet Punch instead as she needed a speedy move to help her keep up with Frogadier. Ash also caught a new Pokémon in Rhyperior. I decided to give him a Rhyperior as I've always felt as though the mon does somewhat fit him. Also, Rhyperior is the final Pokémon that Ash's going to capture in this arc making his Orange Islands arc team complete and it'll also allow some more of his other Pokémon to get some screen time.
Next Chapter will come out next week it'll focus on the gang reaching another island where Ash's training his Pokémon and they also meet Tepig's old trainer Shamus, I hope you all look forward to it.
