Welcome back readers to the next chapter. Finally I can get to a chapter that gets close to progressing pass the redundant tournament. I am the one who made it but even I am rather done with it…course with the real dragon ball a battle would always be several episodes anyways. So I guess that I am on brand. But anyways I don't own any of dragon ball…even if I wish I did.

Chapter 12

_Videl_

"Oh what am I even doing right now? Running away from a boy and hiding in my room like a little baby. And all because I can't man up and listen to his reaction to my kiss." Videl grumbles sitting on her bed. Still she made no move to leave her room all the way until it was finally time for the class to have yet another meet up with one of the castle officials. Though this time she made even more effort to avoid Gohan's field of view clearly seeing him looking for her. Sadly even with her doing this she saw him look right at her almost like he somehow could sense her presence. Luck was on her side though; for before she had to face him yet again the official came to talk with the class leaving no time for friends to talk.

"Good evening students. Now you have had more than enough time to enjoy this day so we must finally get to the boring part. So, today we are going to be doing something that may help some of you in the future. Because today you will be spending some time with several of this country's workers learning about various parts of what it takes to keep things running. Though in this case we will of course limit it to those in the castle and relatively close by due to time restraints. Now I will set up the groups so please listen for your name." the man explains. He then notices a nerdy looking student with his hand up.

"Yes, what is it?" He asks simply.

"Sir if you were going to have us do this wouldn't it have been better to have us do it all day. After all we would have learned a lot more doing this all day rather than given so much free time." The kid stated somehow missing the glares the class was giving him. Though none of them expected the official to start laughing.

"Sorry that was unprofessional of me." He states whipping a tear from his eye. "The looks you guys all had as he asked me that was too good for me to not laugh. But anyways you are certainly correct that you would have more real learning time if we didn't give you so much free time. BUT in our case, we are already understanding that most of you could easily figure out what most of us do just by reading it online. So, you aren't missing out on much when we cut the time for you to be 'learning' to be as short as possible." He explains.

"Wait so you are just taking the schools money and only putting in the barest amounts of effort to hold up your end?" Videl couldn't help but ask. She could never just turn her back on the fact that the kingdom was practically stealing the schools funding in a way.

"Heh, well you would be right if it weren't for the fact that your class's trip is ridiculous. After all going to three places is quite expensive. What with the insurance, gas, paychecks, the fact that a certain man loves money too much, and so much more." The man lists off casually giving Mr. Satan a vague diss. "So, we actually explained our goal clearer to the school and they were actually more than happy to agree Miss Satan." The man stated.

"Then what was the plan?" Erasa asked now curious.
"That is quite simple. What we want is publicity that we aren't a horrible monstrous place as the world makes us out to be." The official explains making the class even more confused.

"Then wouldn't just having the tournament be enough? You are having people from all over stay and experience this place." Another student asks.

"Oh of course that helps us. But most of those groups are focused on trying to get the princess hand in marriage. So, they aren't doing much else other than focusing on the tournament. Meanwhile teenagers are known to slack off when given the chance. Plus with social media kids are mostly the way various bits of information is spread around. Thus we had your class to come here. Sure a portion will actually watch the tournament but a good amount of you have been and will explore the town as well. So, we are counting on those stories, pictures, and word of mouth to advertise our kingdom with very little effort on our part." The man stated honestly.

"Dude, I know I am far from the smartest but even I know that sounds like way too much of a hassle to deal with for such a small reward." Sharpner states ignoring his friends snickers.

"Not at all young man. We have the nearby staff keeping a closer eye on you guys for sure but for the most part nothing changes for our day-to-day operations. As for money while we were picked because we offered to work for next to nothing our costs are still going to be covered leaving us with quite a lot less work than you would expect….and honestly a good portion of the staff could use a bit more work. Things have been rather streamlined." The official stated with a clear look of jealousy at the end.

"I…guess that makes sense." Sharpner mutters still very confused. Though it was far from just him in this case. But a clapping noise brought everyone out of their thoughts and focusing on the official again.

"Now like I said before we are going to start making the groups and sending you to your locations. We will then change after an hour with each worker knowing your next location. So, would Edward…" The official began listing off small groups that left the area in small batches. Until finally the only people that were left were the members of the Z force.

"Umm so where are we going?" Gohan asks confused but the man just chuckles again.

"Young prince Gohan will be going to rehearse and figure out tomorrows great reveal. Now please go to the throne room where Ox King-sama and staff is waiting. The official states then begins to walk away.

"What about the rest of us?" Miara asks.

"I'm sure all of you are well aware with what goes on around here. You are allowed to do whatever you want just keep out of view of the students." The man states not even bothering to look back at them. Course Miara just shrugs at this rather than be offended.

"Well I guess only you have to suffer. So, have fun bud." Miara states with a laugh getting a glare in return.

"Tsk, why doesn't even you have to come with me?" Gohan grumbled looking at Mel jealously.

"Hehe I am not going to be on display today. The only person other than gramps that the people will care to see is the prince. So go enjoy being the center of attention." Mel states laughing even more as Gohan flips her off as he obeys his orders.

Meanwhile the rest of the classes were with various people like the cooks, cleaning staff (butlers, maids, ect), secretaries, various officials, and other jobs that handled the castle's day to day works.

_Videl_

Videl happened to end up in the group that were learning about the cooks with Destiny. The lesson itself was rather simple with one of the castle's cooks explaining the basics of their job and how he got to where he was. Sadly most of the students didn't have much desire to become cooks but they made sure to pay attention especially when he decided to give some cooking tips. After all its not every day that you can get a free cooking lesson; let alone one from a cook skilled enough to be working at a castle. Towards the end of the class, they were attempting the simple skills they were shown.

"…Videl he said you wanted the pieces to be the same size. How did you even do that? We made them into strips and sat them next to each other before we even did this part." Destiny states and watches as her friend blushes out of embarrassment.

"I-I'm just not that experienced at cooking." Videl states.

"…this really can't even fully be called even getting to cooking yet though."

"I-I know that I just need to get warmed up"

"Heh, I guess that even miss Videl Satan can be bad at things."

"I never said I was perfect before." Videl complains trying to push her embarrassment out of her head.

"No but you usually try your hardest to hide it away seeing as you hate to lose." Destiny states with a smirk.

"…shut up" Videl grumbled knowing that she couldn't refute that statement. What could she say she was a satan. She hated the thought of losing no matter what. She knew that she there was no way she could excel at EVERYTHING but it didn't stop her from trying her hardest to do so anyways.

Eventually the class ended with Videl actually managing to become pretty decent at the basic skills and Destiny and Videl walked a bit ahead of the rest of their group.

"So, did you and Gohan finally talk?" Destiny asks making Videl look at her surprised.

"A-about what? What do you mean?" Videl asked blushing yet again. "Damn him for making me blush and act so weak recently. Why did I have to fall in love…and with someone I can't be with at that." She mentally added.

"Videl we were all told that you and Gohan kissed. Though I gotta say I am surprised that you of all people ended up acting like a homewrecker." Destiny teased making Videl mortified.
"I-I wasn't trying to break them apart!... I just wanted my first kiss to be with someone of meaning instead of some random guy I am stuck with." Videl admitted sadly getting a look of pity from her friend.

"Ok that I can't keep quiet about this. Videl-" Destiny began only for Videl to shush her.

"I don't need your pity. Don't worry gal I am Videl Satan I will make the best out of any situation I am stuck with." Videl told her but clearly didn't feel this way on the inside.

"Videl" Destiny started again only for Videl to pick up the pace to their next spot.

*sigh* "Gal I tried to be a good friend and end your suffering…well kind of end it I guess…but you won't let me. I suppose I just have to let things go as they will if she will just stop me if I try and help." Destiny thinks deciding to stop bringing up the idea seeing as Videl was in no mood to listen to seemingly anyone about it.

_Gohan_

Gohan currently was looking bored as he had to stand still as a tailor fixed up his uniform.

"Shouldn't this not be necessary? I mean I just wore this thing like a few months ago." Gohan complained.

"It's been a year prince Gohan. And we just have to make sure that it still fits perfectly. Something that you should be thankful for seeing as your muscle mass has made this a rather tight fit on you. You should be happy that I have had the chance to take out some of the hems we had in it previously. Honestly the fact that you are strong enough to have to go for a larger shirt that I have to fix to not be baggy on you makes it so my work never will end." The tailor states still working.

*sigh* "Can we please just get this done with as fast as possible. I hate having to wear fancy clothes instead of my normal gi."

"Heh, your family is all the same. Unlike other royal families who love dressing up for the part you guys are all happier in normal stuff. If it wasn't for having official events like this; I would be out of a job here."

"Oh come on there is loads of people that like wearing stuff like this in the town…we just aren't some of them." Gohan states honestly.

"Yes, but it is just always amusing to me that you guys are so out of the norm. But anyways we are almost done. Just five more minutes." The tailor states and Gohan just continues to stand there but was not any happier about it.

Eventually the process was finished and Gohan got to move on to a mostly empty hall.

"Ok prince Gohan are you ready to go over the basics of what you will be doing tomorrow?" an official asked with a smile.

"…as I'll ever be…" Gohan mutters and starts the next process he had to go through.

_Videl_

To Videl the 'class' time they were given today seemed to have flown by. They went to several different people and honestly learned the basics of quite a few of the jobs. The only thing she could have done without was all of the maids and butlers that were helping teach kept talking about the prince's betrothal. Although she couldn't blame them completely seeing as the class of teenagers were super curious about it and kept trying to sneak information from them. Still finally the time ended and all of the students were given free time yet again. So, ignoring the dread that seemed to weigh down on her more than ever Videl left for the arena's waiting area yet again. But of course this time she made sure to avoid not only Gohan but all of her friends.

As she entered the waiting area Videl saw the other seven competitors waiting with a tense aura filling the area. Just like before the Ox kingdom prepared for them to fight more than one time in the day. Thus of the people around her only one of them would be leftover for her to fight in the finals. For she still was all but certain that she would be winning this tournament.

Glancing around at each of the fighters she was sad to see that this time she was the only girl around. Two of the men were ginormous figures with bulging muscles, two seemed to be armored knights standing with a sword at their hip and shield on their back, two others were clearly trained martial artists with their dojo's logo printed proudly on their gi, and the last fighter was a seemingly weak old man.

"Hmm I know that each of these fighters have proved themselves even though I haven't really been watching all the fights. But how is a man that looks like he should be visiting his grand kids here? I mean I know that there are old masters out there like the defamed Master Roshi but he is using a cane for kami sake." Videl couldn't help but think. Still, she couldn't look at the group for too long before she was called for the first match of the day. Following right behind her was one of the marital artists.

"Videl Satan I hope for a good match between us. It is nice to see the most famous female martial artists showing her worth yet again." The man told Videl as he got close to her.

"Thanks. I hope it is a good match as well and may the best fighter win. But I gotta say you are one of the first people to focus on that aspect." Videl replied. For other than a few woman pride groups pointing it out on a regular basis there isn't a lot of people pointing out that she is a woman rather than just another fighter. Now this wasn't something she was worried about voicing out all the time but she did pride herself at showing undeniable proof that girls don't have to be 'fragile flowers'. Course the man just nodded at her understanding this.

"Understandable. I just am more thankful of that aspect of your fame seeing as it has helped my daughter avoid at least some of the sexism her training has brought to her. After all the reason she started was just to be like her father." He explained with a smile.

"Well I am glad I helped her out even if it was unintentional. I hope she continues to train with pride."

"Thank you; I am sure she will. Afterall one of her dreams is to face you in the world championship when she feels ready enough to compete."

"I can't wait to see her." Videl answers with a smile.

"Now let us focus on the present fight. I hope you know that I will not be holding back just because I am thankful to you."
"I would be disappointed if you did." Videl answered with her smile a bit wider. This fighter was one that she would take the effort to remember after this fight.

"…and with that the match between Videl Satan and Carlson Journe will begin!" the announcer calls out finishing the introduction he was doing as the two of them were talking.

~Viewing stands~

As the fight was going on Gohan looked sadly at Videl who he yet again missed a chance with.

"This time she might be at fault for actively avoiding ALL of us but you know as well as I do that you had plenty of chances to explain to her before this." Briana states getting only a nod of agreement from her boyfriend.

*sigh* "I know I dropped the ball as well but it was just so hard to bring up to her." Gohan muttered.

"Oh, well it is too late to worry about now but what you can do is try and think of what you are going to say to explain to her after in case she wins." Lime tells him.

"Heh you mean when she wins. Her power level is well above the other fighters." Miara states with a chuckle.

"Hey, you never know. She doesn't intentionally use any of her ki yet and these fighters are actually quite good. At least compared to the average 'normal' fighters' abilities. While it isn't a fifty/fifty they still each have a chance to win this." Mel tells them. Something the rest of them had to agree with.

"So, how did your guys' morning rotations go?" Erasa leaned over to ask after they finished their side conversation.

"It was pretty good but I just can't see myself doing anything too political." Lime told her with a smile.

"True, it is just way too much work to be in the government. But I did quite enjoying cooking. Maybe I'll do that in the future." Mel told her honestly while ignoring the amused looks she was given.

"Oh that would be good for you. Every time you share what food you and your mother cooked with us it is amazing." Destiny tells her.

"I don't know honestly. I mean while I am confident in the kitchen my mother is just on a whole different level. Our family friends would almost call her a goddess of the kitchen." Mel replies.

"Well you don't have to choose what you want to do quite yet. You still have a bit of time before we have to choose." Luke adds.

"Thank kami for that! I am not looking forward to mom and pops pestering me about that when we get closer to the end of the year." Sharpner grumbles.

"Why would they worry about that? With your grades they should just be happy if you get into a college at all." Bri teasingly tells him.

"Oh screw you my grades aren't THAT bad…I just wish that I could do construction without ruining this beauty I have." Sharpner grumbles then flicked his hair.

"…sometimes I almost think you worry about your looks more than I do…but anyways I am going for being a clothing designer as always. Oh, or maybe a reporter." Erasa tells the group. Showing that she is still stuck between the two jobs choices just like she has been for all of high school.

"Well good luck with deciding but hey look the match seems to be close to finishing!" Luke says then points down into the arena. The group then focused on the match again as Videl dodged around the clearly more exhausted fighter before finally hitting him with a blow to the chin that launched him out of the arena.

"And the winner is Videl! But folks what an amazing fight that was!" the announcer called out as Carlson walked back up to the arena and shook Videl's hand.

~Arena~

"A great fight to the end Videl. It seems not only my daughter has to try to fight you in the next world tournament." Carlson tells Videl with a smile.

"Heh, I'll take both of you guys on anytime." Videl tells him returning the smile as they begin to walk off the stage.

"I would wish you luck in this…but I hate the idea of you being forced to marry someone you don't know." He added shocking Videl. "Heh, I told you that I know you because of my daughter. Thanks to that I have a fairly good idea that you are the free-spirited type of girl rather than one to swoon over a prince just because he's a prince. I can't see you willingly picking for this to be the way you find someone…but I am overstepping the line. I just wish you are happy with your life no matter what. I hate the idea of anyone stuck in a loveless marriage." Carlson finished talking to her and then split off from her path to go somewhere else.

"…I am shocked that he could tell what was going on with just what times I have been on tv. If he was living in Satan city, I think I would push for him to be one of our detectives." Videl told herself quite impressed by the man and touched that he truly seemed to want what was best for her.

She then walked past the next two fighters who were one of the giant men and a knight.

"Your gear might have helped you before but it won't be of any use against me." The large man stated proudly as he walked into the arena.

"We will see about that." Was all the knight stated as he drew his blade and got ready.

"..and with both fighters ready this match begins!" the announcer finishes and gets out of the way. Wasting no time the knight quickly slashes at the giant man who made no move to dodge. For this action he faced a large cut on his arm as the blade cuts into him. Though he doesn't even flinch as even with a full power swing his dense trained muscle was more than enough to absorb all of the blade's momentum before it could do severe damage.

"You mad man! Even if you beat me you still will have a horrible wound to go into the next round with!" the knight yelled in disbelief.

"Heh other than the other guy my size I don't think that I will have to worry about having a bit of a weakness." The giant told him with a large smile. "Now goodbye" the giant stated using his other arm to launch a heavy punch. The punch laned perfectly on the knights chest seeing as he was still stunned by the man's previous actions. So, with the heavy blow he was launched completely out of the arena hitting a wall hard enough to cause some cracks to form.

"and Jorgon is the winner by a ring out!" the announcer calls out getting some cheers but a lot of people were still stunned by the bold plan the giant had. But still the tournament moved on with the next fight being the other knight and martial artist. A battle that was a lot more normal but thanks to the man's fast movements and precise hits the marital artist managed to squeak out the win. Finally the last match of this round was about to start with the giant looking down at the old man. The round started but so far neither of the two of them made any moves.

"Old man I really don't want to be the death of you. I don't know how you got this far but please just surrender before I have to fight you." The giant man stated calmly.

"Ho ho ho you youngin thinking you are all that just because you grew up to be so big. What makes you think that your luck with genetics can beat me?" the old man asked cheerfully.

*sigh* "Fine but please surrender before I hurt you too much; okay?" the giant asks then launches a fist at the old man. Though surprisingly enough even with his feeble looks he quite easily dodges the man's fist. But even surprised the giant continued to attack several times only to be dodged each time. After what seemed like ages but really was only a minute or two before the old man was right next to the giant with a small hand on the giant's stomach. After all, the size difference was so great that this was the only spot he could reach.

"Well, you have some moves but sadly so do I" The old man told the giant with a small smile. He then braced the hand that was on his opponents stomach. "Haah!" the old man bellowed out seeming to move his braced arm back just a small amount before launching it back at the giant's gut. But instead of a light tap that everyone expected they were all stunned to see the giant's stomach deform as if it was hit by something massive. The crowd then was further stunned as the giant was pushed back several feet as he showed an expression of clear pain.

"Gah!" the giant grunted out as he was winded and bent over trying to catch his breath. "What…the hell…was that?" the giant man asked stunned between gasps.

"Oh so you are still conscious? Your durability is something that is quite admirable." The old man stated as he stood there calmly. Now with his back straight and the cane he used gone. "I suppose I can explain to you what happened now that you have experienced it. You see I have spent my entire life mastering ever martial art that I could but nothing seemed to ever perfectly fit wit me. Still I trained every day without fail until I finally found out something rather amazing. After all my training I could now create a massive amount of force in a small distance. The force even is concussive allowing it to transfer through the entire body of my enemies." The man explains.

"H-how is a move like that even possible?" the giant asks surprised.

*shrug* "No idea honestly it just happened to work for me as I tried to attempt to recreate the famous four-inch punch years ago. I then refined it until I finally had my own move. The one-inch punch." He tells him proudly. "It's thanks to this and how I've somehow managed to keep my bodies strength even as it has become like this that I have gained my kings respect." The old man explains clenching a fist as he glances at his frail looking arm. "But now we must finish this match of ours sunny." The old man states before running forward at a decent speed. His opponent still was recovering from the first blow but tries his best to continue to fight. Sadly for him he was easily dodged and yet again he found the old man having a hand on him. This time the old man was on his side after a dodging a punch that remained outstretched.

"You fought well and bravely despite being outmatched son. Don't worry this won't destroy your kidney; only bruise it." He told him calmly before yet again doing his one-inch punch. This time the pain proved to be far too much and the giant crumpled over following the impact to his body.

"W-winner Kanou!" the announcer called out just as stunned as the rest of the people watching. Still the old man simply bowed in respect to the giant's unconscious body before grabbing his cane from the announcer and walking away.

~Stands~

After seeing this fight Lime was stunned and looked over to her boyfriend and the ki using group.

"W-was that-" She started to whisper but quickly was interrupted.

"Yes that was ki. It was unrefined and the man only has a small amount of it though. It seems he unlocked his ability to use it but instead of being able to refine it like Roshi he simply forced it to be as useable as he could make it without understanding it fully." Gohan explains to her rather surprised. After all it was quite a challenge for a normal human to unlock use of their ki but this man actually managed to make it use of it without fully going through the refinement process one would normally do. It was like finding a cheat code in a game.

"Yes but it seems that due to this refinement his ki pulse is a sad recreation of what it should be. Not only can he only affect physical objects and the damage largely lowered. But it also is horribly inefficient in its usage. He probably could only use it three maybe four times in a day before he found himself unable to properly circulate the small amount of ki naturally flowing allowing him to move like a young fighter. Maybe that is why he still uses his cane. To conserve as much ki from being used as possible." Miara adds on still rather impressed the man got that far. After all 99.9% of the human population still believes ki is nothing but a scam.

"Hmm so he will only have at best two more blows huh? Isn't that a horrible chance for him to win the next round then?" Lime asks

"Yes, but with a blow like that to an average human; even if they are fully trained. Could easily be enough to end a fight with only one hit. So, he still has a decent chance to make it to the finals." Mel tells her honestly.

~Arena waiting room~

"What in the world was that!?" Videl couldn't help but think. She knew loads about martial arts and yet couldn't find a workable idea of how a move so small as that could create such a massive reaction. "..I don't know how that old man can do that but it does make him a major threat in this tournament. Honestly I want to try and see if I can get his move to work myself…and as much as I want to lose this I can't help but want to fight and beat him after showing such an act. Yes he is a threat but he is still acting far too cocky…even if he does show respect to his opponents." Videl thinks as she glares at the air lost in her own thoughts.

Eventually the call for her next match was what brought her out of her thoughts and quickly walked onto the arena. Her opponent was still just as cocky as before but now had a heavily bandaged arm.

"Heh don't worry little lass they told me I just can't move it too much or it'll start bleeding again. So, Ill finish this fight and get the stiches they keep wanting to put on the cut." Jorgon tells her simply.

"Feh, I wouldn't count me out that easily. I've fought guys way tougher than you." Videl told him simply and got into her stance. After which the match quickly started and although it took a while Videl eventually proved that she was tougher than what people would normally expect from a tiny woman. Showing off just why she was a famous fighter even at her young age.

(AN: didn't want to write a beat down in so just remember the giant gang guy that she fought in the anime and think of a beatdown like that)

After her match Kanou's match began and gave the crowd even more to be amped up about. For the martial artist easily was moving quickly around Kanou as they both dodged every attack they traded. But finally after a while Kanou managed to catch his opponent and with a one inch punch to the sternum he won by another knock out. But you could clearly see him shaking as he held his cane finally acting his age. Showing that the fight did take quite the amount of energy from his old body.

"Well folks we finally have reached the peak of this tournament! It has been amazing to see all of these trained fighters go at it but now all that is left is the mighty Satan city protector Videl!" the announcer calls out showing a picture of Videl in her classic fighting pose and outfit on a screen. "And the surprise master of the one-inch punch Kanou! A move that surely will be written down in the history books folks. Who will win the honor of their kingdom marrying a princess to the mysterious crowned prince of the Ox kingdom. Be sure to rejoin us bright and early tomorrow as our final match will finally start!" the announcer tells the crowd who cheered loudly.

"This will be a tough fight for you Videl but you can surely win if you just trust your own body." Gohan muttered getting a teasing jab from Bri.

"Look at you wanting her that badly." She told him making him go red and start sputtering in embarrassment. "Hehe don't worry your cute little head that much. I know what you mean. I would prefer a girl I already kind of approve of to be stuck with us more than some random unknown girl any day. But we will have to see if Videl can manage to beat a Ki user. Even if that term can only be used loosely." Bri tells him curious what will happen tomorrow.

And that is where I am going to end this chapter. Now honestly I am pretty happy with these matches although they all were short and not too descriptive. That is what I wanted after all seeing as most of these characters don't matter to the story after their 'screen time' is over. But I am happy to think of using 'Kanou' who for lack of better words is heavily inspired from the anime Baki. I wanted to use the 'oldest fighter' in that anime as a surprise match up for Videl. But honestly with his skills in that anime I couldn't think of a decent way for Videl to win without making up a lot of bs. So, I used a good portion of his description with another Baki fighter's vaccum punch dragonballafied. A mix that I am happy with seeing as it is a 'boss' that I can see Videl beating without going too crazy with my BS creation. But anyways you'll just have to wait and see I guess. But for now merry Christmas and happy new year to all of my readers.
