T/W: Threats of Violence
Chapter 17: Reunited
Gilbert awoke to the bed empty beside him and sighed sadly as he reached out to the empty side, as he did his bird landed on his hand there demanding attention.
'Hey there little one. Do you know where that idiot ran off to?' Gilbert asked, petting the bird softly.
As he said that the bathroom door clicked open and Ivan walked out. His hair was wet and he was in nothing but his scarf, undershirt and boxers.
'You should shower before the meeting.' Ivan said walking over to join in stroking the bird but it just flew away.
'He still doesn't like me.' Ivan said dejectedly as he buried his face into his scarf.
'He will warm up to you one day.' Prussia assured, hugging the Russian from behind.
'I think he just still remembers that time you said I should eat him.' Gilbert laughed.
'I said I was sorry already.' Ivan sulked.
Gilbert couldn't help but laugh a little, the Russian just looked so cute when he was sulking.
'God you are so fucking adorable sometimes. When you pout you are cute like a little bird.' Gilbert laughed as he pulled on the Russian's cheek.
'Wh-stop that.' The Russian protested but it didn't stop Gilbert.
Gilbert eventually stopped, only because he knew he had to get ready for the meeting, after he showered he found Ivan had ordered them breakfast in their room. No doubt avoiding the American who seemed to endlessly irritate him as of late.
After breakfast they made their way down to the hall where they were meeting and Gilbert felt his anxiety rise. What if his brother wasn't there? Was his brother okay? Would seeing him in this uniform just upset him? Gilbert tried to fight off the thoughts as he fell further and further behind.
'Gilbert?' Ivan asked, worried seeing how far the Prussian had fallen behind.
'What?!' He said more aggressively than he intended.
'You are falling behind.' Ivan said with his normal smile on his face, ignoring the Prussian's tone for now.
Gilbert just rolled his eyes and caught up, walking inside Gilbert saw Germany on the other side of the table, he had just wanted to run over and hug him but Russia seemed to move to the side as if to block him.
'Not now. Later.' Ivan mouthed as he looked back at the Prussian.
'Why not now?!' Gilbert mouthed back but was swiftly ignored.
Ivan just sat down on his chair, kicking the one next to him slightly as if to signal for Prussia to sit down already. Prussia just rolled his eyes and obeyed. He wanted to say fuck it all but Russia might have a plan, however if it didn't reveille itself soon he was going to just do whatever and fuck the Russian's little front. It was worth getting hit by a pipe for his brother.
Ludwig on the other hand was very concerned. He could see the fact that Ivan and his brother were mouthing words at each other but couldn't read them. Was it in Russian? Was that asshole threatening him to stay in line? He had kicked the chair.
Ludwig considered mouthing at Gilbert to ask if he was okay but the Russian was staring directly at him and he didn't want his brother to get in trouble.
'So, now we are all here. Should we start?' England said as he got his papers together.
'Yes, I think that would be a good idea.' Francis added.
'I'm going first!' America shouted, jumping up from the table to the front.
Gilbert watched as Ivan's smile got more twisted and intense as he locked eyes on the American. He could have sworn that America and Russia had been friends before and during the war. Or at least on friendly terms yet now Ivan seemed to hate him.
America's presentation quickly derailed as he and the Russian began arguing about everything. England and France both tried to get it back on track but it wasn't doing much and it didn't help they would also argue on the side. The whole meeting was just anarchy.
'I am just saying, you could only be so pissy if you were just jealous of my progress. I mean look at poor Prussia. I bet your psycho ass has him locked in a basement all the time.' America said cockily.
'I would like to know how easily you could say such lies with your teeth on the floor.' Ivan smiled darkly as he got up from his chair.
'You want a war Russki? Cuz I will happily bomb you into oblivion or did you forget what I did to Japan?' America laughed.
'I think maybe we should take a break.' Germany sighed.
'That might be a good idea.' England agreed.
'But I am not done yet!' America protested.
'We will never be done if you and Russia can't stop acting like children and fighting every two fucking seconds. I think a small break for everyone to calm down is needed.' England sighed.
'Yes, I think giving America time to think may make him less annoying.' Ivan agreed, ignoring the fact England had also called him a child.
'Oh no! You are not getting the high ground here!' America scoffed.
'Enough!' Germany yelled, causing all the other nations to look at him.
'Thank you Germany. Now if you don't mind me, I am going to get some tea.' England said getting up and walking off.
'Mon ami! Wait for me! I want some wine and to annoy you!' France sang as he ran after the Englishman who grumbled in response.
'I am going to go to the bathroom. Now's your chance.' Ivan whispered in Russian before handing Gilbert his paperwork and getting up.
He had to make it look like he had said something important after all and he knew that Prussia would rather him not be there. He only hoped America wouldn't try to poison him while he was gone but he trusted Prussia, so far he had behaved.
'Hey fuck you. I am not done with you yet.' America yelled running after the Russian.
This was great, they were alone. Gilbert ran to the otherside of the table immediately and pulled his brother into a tight hug, happy when it was returned.
'Brother.' Ludwig said softly.
'West I am so glad you are okay!' Gilbert smiled as he pulled away.
'You are looking so much stronger already!' Gilbert cheered.
'They are taking good care of me brother, you need not to worry. I wasn't expecting you to come, Russia's boss had said you wouldn't be.' Ludwig said, sounding relieved.
'You think that could stop me! I am the awesome Prussia!' Gilbert yelled
Even if he wasn't really anymore. He would be one day. He swore that.
'Hey… um… is Russia you know… treating you well?' Ludwig asked awkwardly.
'Hu? Russia… oh yeah, surprisingly well. We have a few fights every now and then but never gets too violent. He is surprisingly tolerable.' Gilbert assured.
'Wait he fights you?' Ludwig said, shocked.
'I fight him too, you know. It's not one sided. Like I said, only sometimes. It's just like old times.' Gilbert smiled, remembering all the times over the years him and Russia had fought.
Come to think of it, looking back, even though the Russian irritated the shit out of him all the time, he did enjoy their fights. Then again, he still irritated him now, he just found it endearing. Maybe he always did?
'It's just… I have heard rumours of how he treats the Baltics. You promise you would tell me if he… did the same to you?' Ludwig said worriedly.
'West. I mean it. I am fine. I don't want to waste what little time we have speaking about fucking Russia. I want to catch up with my awesome brother.' Gilbert smirked, ruffling Ludwig's neat hair into a mess.
Normally Ludwig would yell at the Prussian for this but he had found himself missing it so much that he didn't have the heart to.
