Chapter 94: Easter Day Surprise
A week had pass by and it was the end of March, which Spyro knew what day it was so yesterday he returned to his old world while also visiting some of the other worlds getting some candies and other goodies for his sister and her friends while also collecting some party decorations for the holiday. It was an hour before the sun rises and he wanted to get everything ready before everyone woke up, so he snuck out of his room and tip toed gingerly through the hallway, though there wasn't much snoring in the house, he knew everyone was deep asleep so he could move freely without being noticed or heard. He reached the front door and opened it, being careful not to wake up Winona because if she heard his opening the door, the entire family would wake up and the surprise would be ruined, but thankfully he was gentle enough to open the door without making a sound, walking out of the door and gently closing it to avoid making any noise.
After making sure he didn't make any noise, he went over to the Gummi Garage and went into his ship, taking a few crates out of the ship and outside, heading back in to get some more crates when Pinkie slowly came out of one of the crates he had brought out wearing a pair of bunny ears as Spyro came out.
"Hi Spyro!" Pinkie exclaimed, making him drop the crates.
He quickly covered her mouth and looked to the house, listening to hear if someone woke up, but he didn't hear anyone get up as he breathed a sigh of relief, removing his hoof from Pinkie's muzzle.
"Pinkie, don't do that." Spyro said, checking if the crates or the contents were damaged, which thankfully they weren't. "What are you doing here and why are you up?"
"Well I noticed you were being extra sneaky and I knew you were planning some kind of party as you left Equestria to get some party supplies!" Pinkie replied, hopping out of the box while wearing the bunny ears. "So I got curious and decided to have a look at what was in the boxes and could you believe it, I found a bunch of party supplies, so I wanted to come by and see if you needed help setting everything up. But... what's with all the bunny ears and paint?"
"Because Pinkie today is Easter." Spyro replied, bringing more crates out.
"Easter?" Pinkie asked. "What's Easter?"
"Easter is a holiday back in my old world." Spyro replied, setting the crates down and going to get more. "It represents the resurrection of Jesus Christ, who is known as the son of God in the Christian faith. After being crucified, he was then resurrected after the third day after being crucified by the Romans."
"Crucified?" Pinkie asked.
"It's where a prisoner is nailed to a wooden cross and left there in the beating sun for everyone to look at as an example for their crimes." Spyro replied. "A brutal punishment for anyone."
"Ok, but what's with all the eggs?" Pinkie asked, pulling out a carton of eggs from one of the crates.
"Oh, on Easter we paint the eggs in whatever kind of colors or pattern we'd like." Spyro replied. "They represent new life and rebirth on this day."
"Wow, you really know a lot about Holidays and their meanings!" Pinkie said, bouncing up and down. "Can I help you to set everything up!? Can I!? Can I!?"
"Well, alright Pinkie, but only if you help set it up quietly." Spyro said. "I want this to be a surprise for the fillies and colts today."
"Okie Dokie Lokie!" Pinkie replied, saluting.
She then rushed into his ship and ran back out with the remaining crates on her back, turning into a pink twister as she got all the crates that were outside and the pink tornado flew into the barn and immediately the pink party pony made a racket setting everything up, hammers and power tools going off as there was also the sound of chickens and pigs squealing, knowing that might be enough to wake the family up, he looked to the house to see if someone woke up, but somehow the entire family was still asleep, leaving him in a stupor at how much of heavy sleepers they were. After a few minutes of loud noises, Pinkie came out and the entire barn was decorated with Easter streamers and large pillow shaped eggs, and the colors of Easter Day, which were lime green, purple, pinkie, cyan blue, yellow, white, and gold hanging all around the entire barn, impressing him at how good the place looked. he walked in and saw there were several tables set up with baskets filled with candy, the paint and dye on another table, and a table full of food that he brought for everyone.
"Wow Pinkie, you did pretty good." Spyro said as he looked around.
"Thanks!" Pinkie replied as she was hanging upside down. "So is that everything?"
"Not yet." Spyro replied. "We gotta set up the games for the fillies and colts to play and get the eggs ready for the egg hunt."
"Oh, oh, oh, do we get to paint the eggs!?" Pinkie asked. "Do we!? Do we!?"
"No Pinkie, that's for the fillies and colts to do." Spyro replied, disappointing her. "The eggs I'm talking about are plastic eggs that we put candy and other prizes in."
"PRIZES!?" Pinkie exclaimed excitedly, which Spyro covered her muzzle again to keep her quiet.
"Yes, prizes." Spyro replied, removing his hoof. "Pinkie, I need you to get Rarity, Twilight, and Rosy, bring them here, quietly. I'll get Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy, I'll need their help with the rest of the activities I have planned for today."
"Okie Dokie Lokie!" Pinkie replied.
Pinkie bounced away from the barn and was on her way back into town, but both failed to noticed two sets of eyes watching them from behind the trees of the farm. Behind those trees, Midnight and Aphara were watching Spyro to see what it was he was up to.
"What are we doing here just watching?" Aphara asked. "Let's just burn this place to the ground and be done with it."
"No, the time line must be preserved." Midnight replied. "This place must not be destroyed no matter what. Besides, we're after a different target and she's not here yet."
"So what, we just keep on waiting?" Aphara asked, looking very annoyed. "And what's the deal with this pony we're after anyway? Why's she so special?"
"We're both from the future." Midnight replied. "Rosy is here to disrupt the timeline and ruin the future. We're going to stop her." Midnight looked through the leaves and saw the decorations in the barn before Spyro closed the door. "Hmm, Easter Day."
"Come again?" Aphara asked.
"I got an idea on how we can draw Rosy Hearts out." Midnight replied with a smile. "We just need to get a little... incentive that's all." They then saw the two fillies come running out with the rest of the Apple Family coming out to do their chores. "And I think I know exactly how to do it."
Outside of the barn, Spyro and Pinkie had already gathered everyone at the barn and were going over what all Easter was about and what he had in store for everyone who was coming, getting to work on boiling some of the eggs and setting up some games around the farm for everyone to enjoy. Spyro, Fluttershy, and Twilight were busy putting candy in some of the plastic eggs that Spyro brought while Rarity was working on arranging some of the colors and brushes to where some of the fillies and colts could paint some of the eggs they had while Rainbow Dash made sure there were no clouds in the sky that would ruin the fun day. Applejack however was busy helping Pinkie and Big Macintosh set up some of the remaining games and events they had planned for the day.
"Oh, this is so exciting!" Fluttershy exclaimed. "We get to try out another of your world holidays"
"I know right?" Spyro asked. "This is actually my first time setting up one of these Easter Events and I'm a little nervous about how it will go.
"So, when do we hide these eggs?" Twilight asked. "And why do we hide them in the first place?" Twilight asked.
"It's a representation of when Mary Magdalene and other women found the empty Tomb of Christ after his resurrection." Spyro replied.
"You know a lot about that don't you?" Twilight asked.
"Went to church when I was younger." Spyro replied. "And I did research back in college when I took a course on individual religions and ideologies. Learning all about the different histories of each kind of faith and religion, who the followers prayed to and worshipped, it was actually very interesting."
"Spyro, good news, clear skies for the entire day." Rainbow Dash said, flying into the room. "Perfect weather for your holiday."
"Excellent news!" Spyro said. "Rarity, how's the Art's and crafts stations going?"
"Everything is ready Spyro darling." Rarity replied. "We got enough supplies for everypony to make their own baskets and to paint some of the eggs."
"Good work Rare." Spyro replied. "I'll go and check to see the progress of some of the games and obstacles."
The girls nodded their heads as they went back to finishing up setting up the other stations while Rainbow Dash flew out to find some place to lay down and relax while everything else is being put together. The young prince walked out of the barn and to the open field where the obstacle course and the seven legged race was going to be taking place, finding the obstacle course was complete with tires on the ground for the foals to run across, mud pits, hoops, hurdles and more. He looked over and saw Pinkie was setting up a 'Pin the Tail on the Bunny' game, an egg race, potato sack race and a few others while Big Mac was setting up a station for foals to get something to snack on or something to drink if they get either hungry or thirsty when they were playing. A moment later, he heard what sounded like rustling in the trees and looked to the orchard, sensing something within the trees, but saw a squirrel run out from the leaves, making him think it was just nut eating mammal as he went over to the three Earth ponies.
"Looks like eveyrthing is coming along great." Spyro said, getting their attention.
"Eyup." Big Mac replied.
"Everythin' is just about set up." Applejack said. "All that's left is them Easter Eggs."
"Yeah, when do we get to hide them because I know some really goos spots that they will have a doozy of a time trying to get to!" Pinkie said, appearing next to Applejack.
"Pinkie, the object of the hunt is to hide the eggs, but not to make it impossible for them to find them." Spyro replied. "We'll be hiding them while the kids are playing games here. The Hunt will be this afternoon once the eggs have been hidden, but this hunt is only for the foals, that means you Pinkie, cannot participate."
"Aw come on!" Pinkie replied, falling to her knees and giving him the puppy dog eyes. "Can't I at least get one little egg?"
"Sorry little cupcake, no dice." Spyro replied, disappointing her. "But if you behave and don't try to nab some of the eggs for yourself, I might give you a big bag of Jelly Beans."
"Really!?" Pinkie asked, immediately bouncing up. "Say no more!"
She then rushed off into who knew where, leaving the others behind as they finished up setting up the remaining games for the kids. After another hour, the foals started to arrive at Sweet Apple Acres along with some of their parents to see what was going on today, finding the barn was decorated with the Easter decorations along with seeing some stations set up in the barn and some games set up in the open fields, taking them all by surprise until they saw Spyro and his friends wearing bunny ears of different colors, walking towards them and wondering what was going on.
"Welcome everypony!" Spyro announced. "And Happy Easter! Today is a holiday back from where i come from that is celebrated after the full moon of the month of March. Today, we have activities and events for all the kids t participate in, including making your own baskets, coloring some eggs, obstacle courses, Pin the Cotton Tail of the Bunny, and much more!" Some of the ponies in the crowd started to whisper and ask each other, wondering what Easter was and what kind of events he had in store. "And later this afternoon, we have a competition for all the fillies and foals to participate in, which is known as an Easter Egg hunt, which the filly or colt with the most eggs at the end of it all will win a very special prize, a giant, chocolate candy bunny!"
At the mention of a chocolate bunny, all the foals cheered in excitement to hear there was going to be a prize made out of chocolate.
"Now listen up everypony!" Applejack announced. "It will take a bit more time to finish setting up the Egg hunt, so why don't ya'll go and have some fun at the other stations and in the obstacle course while we get it set up."
The foals all cheered as they ran into the barn to try out some of the activities that had been set up for them, Rarity and Twilight managing the arts and crafts stations while Rainbow Dash helped Big Macintosh keep an eye on the foals who wanted to try out the obstacle courses and the egg race, where the foals took some raw eggs and put them into spoons, taking them into their mouths and running around a race track that was set up for this event. While the foals were distracted with the stations, Spyro pulled Pinkie Pie, Applejack, and Fluttershy aside, leading them to the eggs that he, Fluttershy, and Twilight filled, which Rosy was waiting for them near the large basket of eggs.
"Is everything ready?" Spyro asked.
"Everything is ready dad." Rosy replied. "All the eggs are ready and the Easter Baskets are good to go."
"Perfect." Spyro replied. "Fluttershy, Pinkie, AJ, we're going to hide the eggs in the farm and in Ponyville. But make sure they are hidden, but easy enough to be found by the foals. Pinkie and Fluttershy, you got Ponyville, Applejack, you and I will hide some of them here on the farm. But let's be sneaky about it, don't want any of the foals to see us hiding the eggs and getting them a moment later. Rosy, help with any of the stations
Nodding their heads, Rosy went back to the stations to see how she could help while the rest of the group took some of the plastic eggs and rushed off, Applejack and Spyro going around the farm while the foals were busy with painting some eggs and making baskets or were busy playing the games and running the obstacle course that was set up for them. While the foals were having fun, Spyro used his Force abilities to hide some of the eggs in the barn itself while making sure they weren't seen as they were floating, moving to the outside area and into the fields where he hid eggs next to trees and in some bushes, up in branches for the Pegasi who will fly around to find them while Applejack helped with hiding them in side of fallen logs and in other parts and places around the farm. Meanwhile in Ponyville, Fluttershy and Pinkie Pie were hiding eggs everywhere they could, in some flowers, bushes, on the roofs, in a cupcake, which was Pinkie's idea, even hiding some of them around the river surrounding Ponyville. As the ponies were finishing up putting the last of the eggs into their hiding spots, Midnight and Aphara approached one of the eggs that the two ponies hid, Midnight using her magic picking it up.
"I don't get it." Aphara said. "What are these things?"
"From what the Dark Overlord told me, it's called an Easter Egg." Midnight replied. "Apparently they're part of some kind of holiday from another world."
"And what's the point of it?" Aphara asked, sniffing it.
"Well this one is made of plastic." Midnight replied, pulling the top off to reveal some chocolate. "These plastic ones are filled with candy or sometimes money. Apparently they're part of some kind of ritualistic game called an Easter Egg Hunt."
"What's the point in hunting these cheap pieces of plastic?" Aphara asked. "Don't seem that tasty to me."
"The plastic you don't eat." Midnight replied, putting the cap back on. "The object is to collect as many as possible to get the most rewards from them." She then returned the egg to its hiding spot, but then lifted her hoof and three dark orbs appeared and from them appeared a few oval shaped rocks with dark crystals popping out of them. "I think we should leave a few eggs of our own for them to find."
Back at Sweet Apple Acres, Spyro and Applejack had finished hiding their eggs for the foals to find right as Pinkie and Fluttershy came up the dirt road and towards them.
"Are all the eggs hidden?" Spyro asked.
"Indeedily-do!" Pinkie replied. "All the eggs are hidden!"
"Excellent." Spyro said, looking at his bracers to see the time. "It's almost time for the hunt to begin. Better get the megaphone and get to the stage."
They then ran towards the stage where the megaphone was already set up and waiting for them, courtesy of Applejack and Big Macintosh who were waiting for them. Spyro walked up onto the stage and then tapped his hoof on the megaphones speaker, getting everyone's attention as it powered up.
"Your attention, your attention everypony!" Spyro said. "The main event will be starting soon! All fillies and colts wishing to participate please come to the stage near the obstacle course and I shall explain the rules of the Easter Egg hunt!"
"Oh boy, the egg hunt is about to start!" Apple Bloom exclaimed excitedly. "Let's get goin' girls!"
"Oh puh-lease!" Diamond Tiara said, she and Silver Spoon walking past them. "Like you blank flanks are going to win this egg hunt. We're going to win that chocolate bunny."
"Yeah!" Silver Spoon said, walking past, before hanging back and zipping to them. "But, good luck to you girls anyway. Have fun."
She then rushed after her friend to catch up, leaving the crusaders baffled as to why she would wish them luck, but shrugged heir shoulders, running out of the bar and towards the stage where all the foals had gathered around, eagerly awaiting for Spyro to announce the beginning of the hunt.
"Fillies and Colts, welcome to the first ever Ponyville Easter Egg Hunt!" Spyro announced, everyone cheering as they stomped their hooves on the ground in excitement, making the ground shake a bit. "My, looks like the crowd is very excited today, aren't you? Well you all oughta be because this Easter Egg hunt is a competition, one in which the filly or colt who acquires the most eggs in the end will win a big, sweet, chocolaty chocolate bunny!" As he said it, Fluttershy pulled away a large cover and revealed a chocolate bunny as big ad Spyro, everyone gasping and oohing at it as it got their attention. "I know right? That's big bunny! Now, before we begin the hunt, we got a few ground rules to go over before we begin."
He stepped back as a crystal projected both Ponyville and Sweet Apple Acres along with the number three hundred above both areas right as Twilight walked up.
"Filles and colts, please pay close attention as this is very important." Twilight announced, returning the megaphone to Spyro.
"There a total of three hundred eggs split between Sweet Apple Acres and Ponyville." Spyro said. "They are hidden throughout both areas so feel free to search, but the boundary's beyond both locations, meaning the Everfree Forest and the swamps have no eggs in them, so stick to either of these places. Each of you will be given a basket for the hunt as each is enchanted to prevent ponies from reaching into your baskets and snagging your eggs. We will be monitoring how many eggs haven't been found yet and when you hear me say the hunt is complete, all of you will come back to Sweet Apple Acres and we will count how many eggs each of you have. The one with the most eggs will be the winner. And for all of you participating, there are no loosers and each of you will be given a special Easter Basket filled with sweet, sweet goodies and candies and toys!"
As he said it, a large wagon full of baskets full of candy and some Easter Day toys rolled by and all the fillies and colts were excited, stamping their hooves in applause and cheering.
"Alright everypony, near the stage you will find your Easter baskets." Twilight announced, motioning for the baskets below the stage. "Everypony get your Easter basket and we will get you started!"
All the fillies and colts rushed forward to get a basket, taking the handle of the basket in their muzzle and going over to the starting line that had been set up for all the foals, the last of the kids getting their basket and rushing quickly over to the starting line to await for the word to start looking.
"On your mark..." Spyro said, the foals all getting ready to run. "Get set..." All the fillies and colts were ready to look around. "GO!"
As he said it, all the fillies and colts ran in different directions to look for the eggs, some going into Ponyville while others remained in Sweet Apple Acres, looking around in bushes, behind crates, in buildings, wherever they thought an egg was hiding in, they looked around in hopes of finding one. In Ponyville, the Cutie Mark Crusaders were running around, giggling and laughing as they looked around for an egg to put in their basket.
"Oh boy, a chocolate bunny as first prize!" Apple Bloom said. "And did ya see the size of that thing? How'd Spyro hide it from us?"
"Who cares, all we need to do is find the most eggs and it's all ours!" Scootaloo replied.
"Oh, oh, there's one!" Sweetie Belle exclaimed rushing to the bridge and finding a bright blue egg next to the water. "One down, a lot more to go."
"Oh, there's another one!" Scootaloo exclaimed, running to the bush and pulling a bright green egg out. "This is so easy!"
"Found another!" Apple Bloom said, finding one behind a tree, but it was made of rock and had dark crystals in it, the crystals retracting and turning a bright shade of brown. "We're sure to win the chocolate bunny! Let's see if we can find some more!"
"Yeah!" The other two crusaders said, running further into town.
Back at Sweet Apple Acres, Spyro was monitoring the holographic projection, watching the number of eggs that were hidden go down quickly as the foals found the eggs, smiling as everything was gong well, but Rosy looked disturbed, something nagging at her in the back of her mind as if something was telling her something bad was about to happen. Applejack noticed her and walked over to see what was wrong while making sure Big Mac wasn't within earshot as she approached.
"Hey sugarcube, what's wrong?" Applejack asked.
"I don't know." Rosy replied. "Could just be me, but something is telling me that something is about to happen."
"Like what?" Applejack asked.
"I don't know." Rosy replied. "Instinct maybe. Like... something bad, and something unexpected, is going to happen."
"Unexpected?" Spyro asked, having heard their conversation. "What would be unexpected?"
"Hey Spyro, look!" Rainbow Dash said, pointing to Pinkie as she was shuddering, her entire body shaking.
"Shudders." Spyro said. "She only did that once and that was when Twilight was trying to understand Pinkie's Pinkie Sense."
"And it's going to happen in Ponyville!" Pinkie exclaimed, shuddering again.
"Hmm, this isn't good." Spyro said. "Rainbow Dash, you, me, and Rosy will head into town and keep an eye on it. If it's something bad, we need to be on top of it. I don't want the egg hunt ruined by something bad."
Spyro and Rainbow Dash ditched the bunny ears and took to the air to make sure nothing bad happened while Rosy ran after them on the ground as they made their way to the town. In town, the crusaders were finding eggs left and right, making their way to the center of town where fillies were running or flying around to find more eggs in town.
"Oh boy, look at how many eggs we found!" Apple Bloom said, looking at the basket full of plastic eggs.
"We aren't done yet!" Scootaloo said, finding another one underneath the town centers steps. "The more we get, the more of a chance we get to winning the bunny."
"You seriously think you can win blank flanks?" Diamond Tiara asked, walking up with her basket full of eggs. "Yeah, in like a million years! We got more eggs than you and we are going to win this. You blank flanks are not that special and aren't good at anything, even if one of you is the princes sister, you're not that special at all!"
"Oh yeah?" Scootaloo asked, getting in her face. "Well we seem to be doing just fine finding Easter Eggs and I bet you don't have as many as we do!"
"Hey. I found another one Diamond Tiara." Silver Spoon said, holding up a brown egg.
"Ha, in your blank flank faces!" Diamond Tiara said, Silver Spoon putting it in her basket as Diamond Tiara showed her basket full of eggs. "That's another one for us! See, we have more eggs than you! So why don't you-"
A sudden purple light shined out of her basket and all five fillies looked to see the light was coming from the brown egg in both her basket and in Apple Blooms, a third light shining from behind a bush as it suddenly got too bright for them to see, closing their eyes to not get blinded. When the light dimmed down, everyone looked to see that from the eggs was a small group of Grublin flies, a couple of Orc Axemen, and a single Grublin troll, roaring out in rage as it walked towards them, the fillies screaming as it approached and ran away as fast as they could to avoid them. As they ran trough town, the flies chased after the crusaders and the two bully earth ponies hid in a barrel to avoid being attacked, watching as the Grublins passed them by as they chased after the crusaders, getting out of the barrel as they looked at the creatures made of dark earth go after them.
"They're gone." Diamond Tiara said. "Come on, let's get out of here."
"What about the Blank Flanks?" Silver Spoon asked.
"What about them?" Diamond Tiara asked. "Come on, we got eggs to find."
Diamond Tiara ran back into town to find some more eggs to put in her basket, but Silver Spoon remained behind, looking in the direction f where the crusaders ran to before running in the opposite direction and away from Diamond Tiara, heading straight for Sweet Apple Acres to inform Spyro about what was going on. With the Crusaders, they were running away from the Grublins as fast as they could as the creatures growled and shrieked as they chased after them, the Orc Axemen popping out of the ground and cutting off their escape, but they ducked underneath eh orc, passing through his legs as they kept running away, causing the orc to get trampled over by the Troll until they rounded a corner, finding the flies had cut them off again as they were then surrounded.
"Now what!?" Apple Bloom asked fearfully.
They watched as the Grublins got closer and closer to the fillies, a few of them licking and smacking their lips as they approached, fear filling their bodies as they awaited for the inevitable. One of them raised their weapon to deal a deadly blow, but the fillies all screamed at the same time and when they did, a sudden wave of energy shot out from the group, knocking all the Grublins over or into walls and trees, stunning them all at once while the fillies were huddled up together. A moment later, they opened their eyes and saw that the Grublins were stunned or downed, giving them the chance to run away from them and towards Sweet Apple Acres to get Spyro.
"What happened back there!?" Apple Bloom asked. "Who the heck knocked them all down!?"
"Who cares, keep running!" Scootaloo replied, all of them running as fast as their legs could carry them.
In the sky, Spyro and Rainbow Dash had just landed in the clouds and were looking around to make sure nothing was happening, seeing all the foals were actually doing alright and finding eggs, so they moved on further into town to make sure nothing bad happened, but when Spyro was in the air, he felt a sudden and strong disturbance in the Force, landing on the cloud to sense where it was, it when he did, the disturbance was gone as fast as it had appeared. He searched around in the air to figure out what had caused the disturbance, failing to sense anything and growing worried as he never felt something like that before.
"Spyro!" Rainbow Dash shouted, flying to him. "What's wrong? Did you find something?"
"No, but I felt something." Spyro replied. "A disturbance in the Force, and it was strong. Very strong."
"Dad!" Rosy shouted, getting their attention. "Did you feel that as well!?"
"I did!" Spyro replied. "It was sudden, but strong. Whatever it was, we better-"
"Help, help!" Silver Spoon shouted getting their attention, looking up to see Spyro and Rainbow Dash. "You highness, monsters! Monsters in town!"
"Monsters?" Spyro replied, flying down to her. "Where? Where'd you see them?"
"Near the Town Square." Silver Spoon replied. "They went after Scootaloo and her friends."
"What!?" Spyro asked, fear and terror rising up in his chest. "Rainbow, Rosy, hurry!"
The three of them rushed into town as quickly as they could into town to save the fillies before something terrible happened to them. In town, the crusaders had returned to the town square where they were catching their breath after running for so long and after escaping the Grublins, completely exhausted from the running.
"What-what were them things?" Apple Bloom asked.
"I think they're Grublins." Scootaloo replied. "Spyro has books that have information on all sorts of monsters he fights."
"But what happened to them back there?" Sweetie Belle asked. "What knocked them over?"
"Don't know, but whatever did that, saved our flanks." Scootaloo replied, lying on her back. However, a minute later, the ground erupted and from it the Grublins reemerged, taking the fillies by surprise as they crawled and jumped out of the ground. "Oh come on! Seriously!? Where'd you all come from!?"
The Grublins started to approached the fillies, their eyes on the prize when all of a sudden a fireball came from the sky and hit the middle of the group, sending the smaller ones flying away while the Troll just extinguished the flames on it's arm, looking up to see Spyro and Rainbow Dash flying in, the former slamming into the Troll and knocking it down while Rainbow Dash tackled one of the orcs and slashed it across the chest with her Keyblade as Rosy called hers and large roots and vines shot out of the ground and wrapped themselves around some of the flies, smashing them into the ground as those that were still free charged towards Rosy.
"Girls, run!" Spyro shouted, smashing the Troll's head into the ground.
The fillies did as they were told and ran away from the fight, letting the Keyblade bearers handle the Grublins while they sought cover of their own. they managed to find a spot behind a food stall and ran towards it, but as they ran, Sweetie Belle tripped and fell to the ground, making her grunt and get the attention of the nearby Ax Orc and the two fillies, seeing the orc walk towards her with it's ax ready to go. Without thinking, Apple Bloom ran towards her friend and helped her up as the orc ran to them, its blade held high above its head to attack.
"Apple Bloom, Sweetie Belle, look out!" Scootaloo shouted. The two fillies turned and saw the orc heading towards them, ax ready to chop and froze, their legs not responding as they wanted to run away, but couldn't. "NO!"
Scootaloo extended her foreleg without knowing and a second later, the orc was pushed back by an unknown force straight to Spyro, who turned around and saw the incoming orc and sliced him in half, the dark creature exploding into a dark fog as he returned his focus to the troll. The fillies were in complete shock and awe at seeing the orc being sent flying away, turning to Scootaloo who was just as surprised as they were, looking to her hoof as she turned it to her before hearing the Troll yell out in agony, turning their focus to the Troll as Spyro knocked it into the air and slammed his tail into the ground, earth spikes shooting out and skewering it, turning it into a dark cloud right as the roots vines launched the air and Rainbow Dash passing through them all, destroying them with a single strike a piece as Rosy spun her blade around, creating a fire tornadoes that picked up the remaining Grublins and toasted them, releasing a cloud of purple and black smoke into the air as it faded. When the fight was over, Spyro landed on the ground and looked around to make sure there were no more grublins as the fillies got up and ran to Scootaloo.
"How did ya do that?" Apple Bloom asked.
"I... I..." Scootaloo tried to say, but couldn't find the right words.
"Scoots!" Spyro exclaimed, running over to the fillies. "Girls, you ok!? Did they hurt you!?"
"No, w-we're fine." Scootaloo replied. "Just... shaken up that's all."
"Where did those things come from?" Rainbow Dash asked, flying down. "It's not like they came from thin air!"
"They came from the eggs." Sweetie Belle replied, surprising them. "They came from the brown eggs!"
"Brown?" Spyro asked. "That's can't be right. Easter eggs aren't brown. They're either pink, green, yellow, blue, or red, not brown."
"Must be Grublin eggs." Rosy said. "This can only mean somepony wanted to sabotage Easter today."
"May?" Spyro asked.
"Or Midnight Sky." Rosy replied. "Either one is a likely suspect. Either way, the fight's over now, but let's make sure there aren't any more of those eggs. Don't want to have to clean up another mess."
"We'll help." Spyro said. "Scoots, you and your friends better get back to the egg hunt before all the eggs are gone. Don't wanna miss out on winning the chocolate bunny, do we?"
With that, the three fillies perked up and ran to get their baskets, hoping to get more eggs before it was too late while Spyro and Rainbow Dash took off back into the sky while Rosy ran in a random direction to use the Force to sense if anymore of those eggs were there in the town that haven't been discovered yet. Around the corner of one of the buildings, Midnight and Amhara had watched the entire thing go down, the dragoness looking annoyed while Midnight didn't seem all that bothered, scratching her chin as she had witnessed something interesting.
"They failed!" Amhara said, slamming her tail on the ground. "They flipping failed to destroy anything!"
"Relax you big baby, they were meant to fail." Midnight replied, surprising the dragoness.
"They were?" Amhara asked.
"Yes, their primary goal was to terrorize the ponies and draw Rosy out so we could attack them." Midnight replied, looking around the corner to watch the fillies run. "But we just discovered something far more interesting than destroying Rosy Hearts. My master will want to hear what we have discovered here today."
Midnight then opened a corridor in front of them and walked through, baffling Amhara as she didn't know if she was meant to follow her ally or not, but decided to walk through the corridor after her, the dark portal closing behind them as the dragoness followed through. After a little while, the foals had all returned to the farm and everyone had a basket full of eggs, all eagerly awaiting to hear who won the chocolate bunny while Spyro, Rarity, and Twilight counted how many eggs everyone had collected, but in the back of the crowd, the crusaders were behind the barn where no one could hear them so they could talk about what had happened back in the town square.
"Scootaloo, you need to tell Spyro." Sweetie Belle said. "If you have some of the same powers as him, he could help."
"I-I don't know." Scootaloo replied. "I mean, it would be awesome, but... I don't think I'm ready."
"Oh come on Scoots." Apple Bloom said. "If ya really can use the Force, he could teach us how to use it!"
"Well... I'll think about it." Scootaloo replied, kicking up a bit of dirt. "It's just... a lot to take in is all. Promise me you guys won't tell Spyro about this, please. I want to tell him when I think I'm ready."
"We promise Scootaloo." Apple Bloom said, the two fillies hugging their friend and making her smile.
"Your attention, your attention everypony!" Spyro announced, the fillies running around the corner and back to the crowd. "Well have counted all the eggs and tallied up all the ones each filly and colt got in their basket and I am pleased to announce we have a winner." Twilight brought over a piece of parchment and Spyro unrolled it to announce who the winner was. "And the winner of this year's Easter Egg Hunt is... Dinky Doo!"
The crowd cheered for the little unicorn filly as she walked up to claim her prize, leaving Diamond Tiara completely lost as she thought she had collected the most eggs, but apparently she didn't. The unicorn filly walked up onto the stage and towards Spyro, who brought out the bunny and she jumped and cheered with glee.
"Thank you your highness." Dinky Doo said.
"You're very welcome Dinky." Spyro replied. "And for all you little fillies and colts out there who participated in the egg hunt, I have an added surprise for all of you. All those eggs you collected, some of you may have noticed, but they were plastic eggs and there were some special prizes inside those eggs, which we put into your Easter baskets after we were done counting them and put your names on the basket so you know which one is yours. Big Mac, bring out the baskets and everypony out there, Happy Easter!"
The entire crowd cheered and applauded as Big Mac brought out the wagon full of Easter baskets as the foals all went to get their basket, but Scootaloo held back, looking down at her hoof as she wondered if she should tell her brother about what had happened or what she did to that Orc she sent flying through the air. Before she could do or say a thing, she looked up and saw Spyro was walking towards her with an Easter basket in his muzzle, setting it down in front of her as she looked at it in amazement as it was full of candy and some Easter themed toys.
"Hey there little Dare Devil." Spyro said. "Didn't want ya to wait for your chance to get your basket, so i went ahead and brought it for you."
"Thanks Spyro!" Scootaloo exclaimed, hugging him. "You're the best!"
"You're welcome Scoots." Spyro replied, hugging her back. "Though, I have to ask you something." Her eyes shot open as she believed that he already knew about her secret, waiting for him to ask her what she believed he knew about. "Do you and your friends want the other Chocolate bunny?"
"Wait, what?" Scootaloo asked, both confused and relieved that he didn't know about her secret, but mostly surprised he had another one.
"Yeah, I got two of those Chocolate bunnies." Spyro replied. "I hid it in your club house if you girls want to go get it."
"Oh you're the best!" Scootaloo said, taking her basket and running in the direction of the club house. "Girls, come on! Spyro put a surprise in the club house!"
Spyro smiled as he watched the three fillies run in the direction of the Club house to go and get the Chocolate bunny he hid there, smiling to himself as he made her happy after being attacked, though his mind wondered as to what caused the disturbance in the Force that he felt earlier, which wasn't a normal disturbance to him as it felt like someone had discovered the power of the Force by accident, wondering who it was and where they were at the current moment.
