AN: Thank you all for the reviews for the last chapter, I know that I take forever to update my stories and I try not too. But I got a very good reason for that, when I start writing a new Chapter, I always take my time with it to make sure there's no mistakes and everything sounds right. I hope you all will understand.
Pulling up in the driveway of Deb's parking behind Lucas's car and turning off the engine. Haley unbuckled as she looked over at the back seat." You guys ready to go see Grandma Deb and everyone else?" She asked Jamie and Lydia.
When both kids nodded their heads, Haley took that as a yes and she also nodded her head. "Well, let's go see everyone." She said as she opened her car door and stepped out. She closed the car door, helped Lydia out of her car seat, and they walked towards the house.
Walking towards the back yard with Jamie running in front of her and with Lydia in her arms. As Haley got closer, the first two people she noticed by the food and refreshments were Deb and Karen.
"Grandma Deb!" Jamie called out with a huge grin on his face as he ran up to her.
" Oh hey, there's my favorite little man." Deb said with a chuckle as she knelt down and wrapped her arms around him and hugs him as she was always happy to see her Grandson. She then looked up when she noticed Haley walking up with Lydia.
"Haley, you made it!" Deb said as she stood up and hugged Haley, who was happy that Haley finally made it to the barbecue.
"Yeah, sorry it took too long. We could've been here sooner, but I couldn't find anything for Lydia to wear." Haley said as she set Lydia down. After two hours of trying to find something for Lydia to wear, Haley finally settled on a dress.
" Don't worry about it." Deb said as she waved her hand and just brushed it off. At least you guys are here." She said as chuckled softly.
"Aunt Karen, where's Lily?" Jamie asked, looking around for his cousin.
"I believe she's with Uncle Keith and Uncle Lucas, over at the basketball hoop." Karen answered as she pointed to where Lily was.
" Sweet, can I go play Mama?" Jamie asked as he really wanted to go play basketball with his uncles and cousins.
Haley nodded her head. "Go and play." Haley answered, as she watched Jamie running off to where the basketball hoop was.
" Daddy!" Lydia called out as she lets go of Haley's hand and ran towards Nathan as he walking towards her and Haley. She giggled as soon as she felt Nathan scooping her up and hugs her tightly.
" Hey how's my little princess doing?" Nathan asked with a smile as he picked up Lydia and kissed her cheek as he then noticed Haley talking to his mom and Karen.
" Hey Hales, I'm glad that you guys came." Nathan said as he leans forward and gives her a friendly kiss on her cheek as he kept Lydia in his arms.
"Thanks, Nathan." Haley said, giving him a friendly smile.
" Well, come on everyone has been asking for you." Nathan said as he gently placed his hand against the small of her back as he leads her towards where all their friends where.
"Guys, look who decided to join us." Nathan said as he and Haley walked closer to the long picnic table that Deb had set up for everyone to sit at.
" Oh my God, Haley. You're actually here." Brooke said as she was the first one to get up out of her chair and gave Haley a hug as she was really happy to see Haley, mostly because she was already getting tired of hearing Renee going on and on about her new job. Brooke almost fell asleep from boredom.
" Hey guys." Haley said as she gave Brooke a hug and everyone else, but Renee. Haley is still pissed off that Renee had the nerve to step in Karen's Cafe and talk to Haley the way she did. Renee is lucky that Haley didn't smack across the face.
" Oh, goodie Haley's here." Renee said sarcastically as she watched Haley taking a seat next to Brooke. She then glares at Nathan as he sat down next to her with Lydia in his lap as she had a pretty good idea that Nathan is the reason why Haley is here.
Nathan sighs as he shook his head." Please don't start." He warns Renee as he didn't want the girls to get into it right now, especially at his Mom's Barbeque. Nathan just wants today to be a drama free day.
" Whatever." Renee said as she rolled her eyes as she pay attention to Nathan JR instead and tried to pretend Haley wasn't there.
"Where's Chris?" Skills asked Haley as he was first to notice that he wasn't around. "I thought he was coming with you."
Haley blew out a breath as she shrugs her shoulders." That was the plan, but at the last minute Chris had to go back to the Studio and work on few more tracks." Haley was hoping that Chris didn't have to be in the Studio, but at the same time she's kinda glad that he didn't come to the barbecue with her.
"Speaking of music, when are we going to hear the next Haley James Scott album?" Peyton asked, as she has been dying for some new music from Haley since the last time Haley released her first album, just before she went on tour last year.
" It's actually Haley James now." Haley said correcting Peyton as she shrugs her shoulders a little." I don't know. Honestly, I haven't really thought about making a new album. I just kinda figured after I came home from touring. That I would take a break from music for a while and focus on Jamie and Lydia."
Hearing Haley using only her maintain name and not her married name which is his last name, Nathan felt like someone had punched him really hard in the stomach and knocked the wind out of him. Nathan isn't sure why he's feeling this way considering that they're not married anymore. It just felt weird hearing Haley going back to using her own last name.
" Food's ready!" Keith called out as soon he took Hamburgers and Hot dogs off the grill. Once he reached the picnic table he set down two plates full of Hamburgers and Hot dogs." Dig in everyone." He said as he then walked over towards Karen to help her with the drinks.
" Which would you like Jamie? Hamburger or Hot dog?" Haley asked as she and Jamie got to the end of the picnic table and Haley reached for the buns.
"Can I have both?" Jamie asked.
Haley nods her head. " Sure you can buddy." She answered as she made Jamie a plate with both Hamburger and Hot dog with all the fixings. After Haley handed Jamie his plate, she made a plate for herself before she went back to her seat next to Brooke.
"Here, take Lydia," Nathan said as he handed her over to Haley so he could go get an hamburger and a hot dog for himself.
Observing how close Nathan was standing next to Haley, Renee rolled her eyes as she got up and walked over to him with her arms across her chest as she stepped closer to him." What the hell was that?" She asked as she hissed at him.
"What was what?" Nathan asked in confusion, as he had no clue what Renee was talking about or what her problem was.
"You were standing too close to Haley." Renee answered with gritted teeth.
"Seriously? That's your problem? I was handing over our daughter to her so I could come over and make myself a plate. Don't read so much into it." Nathan said angrily.
" Please, you were practically on top of her. You might as well just make out with her. Which is what you want, since you've been drooling all over her ever since she got here." Renee spats out as she turned around and walked back to her seat and sat down as she suddenly decided that she wasn't hungry.
While Haley were talking to Brooke and Peyton, when Renee decided to inturpt them." So, Haley when are you going back on tour?" She asked as soon as she could feel Nathan staring at her.
"Renee..." Nathan sighed with a scoff, pinching the bridge of his nose. He was hoping that Renee would stop talking already.
" What? I'm just asking her a question. I mean she's a musician after all. So I am just curious." Renee said as she shrugs her shoulders slightly.
" Not any time soon, as I told Peyton and everyone else. I'm focusing more on Jamie and Lydia. So music for me is on the back burner for now." Haley answered as she knew what Renee meant when she was asking that question.
"Well, you might as well put your music on the back burner. Since your music sucks anyways and everyone knows that you have no talent." Renee says with a snort.
" And what's your Talent Renee? Oh that's right, you have zero talent. The only thing you're good at is spreading your legs and breaking up marriages, so I guess you can call that a talent." Haley fires back when she heard Brooke and Peyton snigger beside her.
" Want to know the real reason why you're marriage failed and Nathan ended up with me? It was because I got pregnant with our son, Nathan chose me because you couldn't satisfy him in bed anymore. He told me that you never done half of the things, I've done to him." Renee said with a smug smirk the moment she noticed the look on Haley's face.
The moment Haley heard those words, she could feel tears running down her face as she looked at Nathan for a moment. Without saying a word, Haley gave Lydia to Peyton as she quickly got up from her chair and walked off.
"Haley, wait!" Nathan said as he also got up and went after her. But the moment Nathan reached the driveway, it was too late. He sighed heavily as he watched Haley drive off. Walking back to the barbecue, Nathan walked towards Deb.
"Hey Mom, can you watch Jamie and Lydia for a few hours?"
"Yeah, sure. Is everything okay? I saw Haley walking off." Deb said as she couldn't help but wonder what happened and why Haley left all of a sudden. But she has a feeling that it has something to do with Renee and what Renee said.
"Thanks, Mom." Nathan answered as he gave Deb a kiss on the cheek before going off to Haley's to talk to her.
Haley was going through her wedding album as she started to remember that day. It was their second wedding since they got back together, and Haley was happy. She and Nathan renewed their vows right in front of their friends and family. It was everything Haley had dreamed of. It was perfect. Their marriage was even perfect, or at least it was until that bitch Renee came into their lives and completely ruined everything, including their marriage.
When Haley heard that Nathan had cheating on her with Renee, she was willing to forgive Nathan. Mostly because he had never cheated on her not even once since they've been together. But the moment Haley heard that Renee was pregnant with Nathan's child. Haley couldn't forgive Nathan and she filed for divorce right away.
Hearing a knock coming from her front door, Haley quickly closed the photo album and wiped the tears away as she exhales deeply as she got up from the couch and walked over to the door to answer it. The moment Haley opened the door and noticed Nathan standing in front of her.
"What do you want, Nathan?" Haley asked as she crossed her arms over her chest.
"Can I come in? We need to talk."
Haley shrugs her shoulders." I guess if you have to." Haley said as she walked away from him and sat back down on the couch." Where's Jamie and Lydia?"
" Mom's watching them. I hope that was okay." Nathan answered as he walked in and closed the door behind him, before he walked further into the living room.
" I'm sorry for what happened back there. Renee shouldn't have said what she said." Nathan said apologizing for Renee's stupidity and also because he couldn't help but feel responsible for the way Renee was hurting Haley.
" Is it true?" Haley asked as she looked down as she really didn't want to look at him as she was afraid of seeing the look on his face. Haley really isn't sure why she even asked or if she really wants to know the answer. But she couldn't help but be curious.
" What's true?" Nathan asked.
Haley then looks up at Nathan with so much hurt in her eyes as more tears kept running down her face. " Is it true, that the real reason why you cheated on me with her and basically chose her over me. Was because I didn't satisfy you enough? Were you really not happy with me or with our marriage?"
Nathan shook his head as he walked over to Haley and sat down next to her." Hales, you have satisfied me in so many ways, and I was very happy with you and our marriage." Nathan said honestly as he looks at her.
" Then why did you cheat on me? And why did she ended pregnant with your son?" Haley asked as she still wouldn't look at him.
Nathan exhales deeply as he shrugged his shoulders." Because, I was an idiot and even a bigger idiot for even starting a new relationship with her, because I was still in love with you." Nathan said softly.
Haley slowly looked at Nathan with a shock on her face." What? You were still in love with me?" Haley asked as she wanted to make sure those exact words actually came out of Nathan's mouth.
Nathan slowly and gently placed his hand against her face as he nods his head." Yeah, I was still in love with you and honestly, I never stopped loving you." As much as Nathan wants to deny and pretend that his feelings for Haley were gone, he can't anymore and truthfully he doesn't want to anymore.
As they were both staring at each other and not sure what to say at this moment. Nathan kept his hand against her face as he looks deeply into Haley's eyes. Caressing Haley's face with his thumb, Nathan slowly leans in and pressed his lips against hers. The moment Nathan felt her soft lips against hers, Nathan deepens the kiss even more as he grips his hand against her waist, pulling her closer to him as he could feel eveything inside of him starting to reopen again.
The last thing Haley ever expected was for Nathan to kiss her. The last thing Haley remembered was that Nathan told her that he was still in love with her, and the next thing she knew, Haley felt his lips against hers. Her brain was telling her to push Nathan off of her, but instead her body had a different plan. As soon as she felt Nathan pulling her closer to him, Haley groans against his lips as she kisses him back more deeply and passionately as she wrapped her arms around his neck and slide her hand and fingers through his hair.
Feeling and tasting Haley's lip felt just like he remembered. It was familiar and it was everything Nathan had secretly dreamed of. Feeling Haley slightly opening her mouth for him, Nathan slip his tongue into her mouth as he wanted to taste more of her. He then slides his fingers through her hair as he massage his tongue against hers.
Feeling his tongue against hers as she continues to kiss him more deeply and passionately as she continues to run her fingers through his hair as she moans against his lips. Kissing Nathan again after all this time still feels amazing and it still takes her breath away. It wasn't like kissing Chris... Chris suddenly popped in her head as she then quickly pulls back to catch her breath.
" What's wrong?" Nathan asked with worry as he really didn't want to stop since he wanted to taste more of her.
Haley exhales deeply as she shook her head." We should stop before we let it go too far, and besides that. Chris will be coming home soon." Haley said as she was starting to feel guilty for letting Nathan kiss her and she's feeling even more guilty for kissing him back instead of stopping it.
Nathan exhales deeply as he nods his head. As much as he didn't stop, he knew Haley was right. Things were starting to get little heated between them and even though Nathan wouldn't mind if it got more heated between them, unfortunately they had to stop before things went to far.
" Yeah, I probably should get back to the barbecue and check on the kids. I'll bring them home later." Nathan said softly as he got up from the couch. I will talk to you later." He said as he opened her front door and closed it behind him once he walked out.
Haley exhales deeply as she ran her fingers through her hair as she shook her head. She honestly don't know what got into her or what exactly happened between her and Nathan. Even worse now that they spent ten minutes on her couch making out, Haley doesn't know what to do or even how to handle it. But she knows one thing she can't let it happen again.
